Looks like all the pine trees around the area have been cut down. We couldn't find the cache, but found where it might have been hidden. I took some photos of the GZ. Is that where it was ?

So strange to see a boat ramp leading into green grass. Just strange. Nice quick find otherwise. Cheers Gav [1640]
Finally getting around to doing some seriously overdue logging Found with the rest of the kiwis on our way back home after breaking the 'most caches in a day' record. TNLN, Thanks.
I do hope this lake fills again one day. Very sad to see a boat ramp and camp ground but no water! Many thanks.
1.05pm Another one of these "lakes" with no water [?] not used to these, as back home (NZ) they all are full.

Nice BIG cache! The view at the boat ramp is a bit sad. Hard to believe there was water here not that long ago.
13:05 The cache was located pretty quickly after driving within 40 metres of cache. Loved the large logbook. TNLN. Thanks for the cache.
The Lake is looking very sad with no water in it!!!
Found this one fairly easily as it was out in the open and looking a little worse for wear. Put it back in its place and covered it. If you're looking for the Pine Tree it has been cut down.

Got there just on dark but foudn teh cache easily enough, despite the tree having been cut down! TNLN and realised just how old this one is! Thanks Wanderers.
The tree beside the cache has VERY recently been cut down. the cache is still safe and sound and must have been seen by the cutter. The tree is still there and partially concealing the cache which I have re-hidden well in the same spot.
Found this cache after a smalll hiccup (We entered the wrong coordinates) However it all ended well and we found the cache!

Quick and easy to find. SOme of the accacias not looking very healthy. Made us wonder whether we will ever see the lake full again. TNLNSL. TFTC

A nice easy find. The cache was quite exposed and could be seen from a distance. No swaps made and I made an effort to cover the cache completely when leaving. Thanks for the cache.
1st on the way to Halls Gap with the Grand-kids, drove almost up to it then asked the little ones to search for the treasure, quickly found and the swaps started. out CD and crayons . in starwars figurines. .Note to self DO PARK CAR ON BULLANTS NEST. screaming girls, ear splitting squeals just because there are a few ants crawling over them in the car. Took a walk to the cache from the boat ramp. The cache was an easy find. Almost out in the open if you knew what you were looking for. We brushed a few earwigs aside as we opened the container - all dry, and no bugs inside however. This is yet another place that would be really nice if only the lake had some water in it. T: bracelet, L: deck of cards. Thanks Wanderers.
Found without too much trouble after figuring out the way through the caravan park to the lake. Parked the car nearby and went for a stroll. Not too many people about, which was good because I looked damned suspicious!
1st of 11 for our weekend away.

There is no sign of water in the lake. Must be tough for the caravan park. We found a wild bee hive in a search for GZ.
Quite an old cache and it's great to find a nice large container, that is nice a dry, but has an earwig problem.

Also made this a drive by for a quick find, only to find a cache full of earwigs. Probably over 100 of them. Emptied everything out and shook the book out as best I could. TNLNSL, cheers.
Made this one a driveby, to within 25m. Very dry with a boat ramp to nowhere. Took TB and left a CD. TFTC
Dear Wanderers,
We found your cache today at 2:30pm as the ninth of eighteen on our Circumference de Ballarat Tour II. Another lake cache. Another completely dry hole where a lake usually resides. Boy it's drier than I've ever seen it out this way. Thanks for our 5th Pyrenees Kid cache.
Kind Regards,
D & H B-A

Found on our way home from a Camping holiday in the Grampians for a long weekend away. Thanks

Woohooo another of the old caches found. What a great hide and a great size container. Took a bit of searching in the dark on the way home from the Western District.
I have found this cache as part of JADE004, but have now created my own separate account (therefore I am not shown in the log book under this username).
Our third find for the day. Quite easy once you're in the right spot. A warning though - watch out for the jumping ants! 100s of them. TNLN. TFTC.
First find on the way to the Grampians for 3 days. A quick easy one after a stroll in the wet grass and the fog, which lifted soon after. Only settles on Ballarat it seems. Left a horse and took a two headed dragon.
Thanks.
Thanks.
Found @ 11:45am on the way for a weekend visit to friends at Tarrington. A nice easy find to start the day off. TNLNSL
Took a while to find this spot. Firstly getting the right route into area then the sat fix was terrible so spent a while going in circles until I finally spotted a likely hide.

Sixteenth of Twenty Two finds on the BBBBB (Bacchus Marsh, Ballan, Ballarat, Beaufort Bash) in company with Daks Emu Mob. This cache was not on our list for caches to do today but it was only 1.3km of route so I could not resist it. We had some disputes about the access to the cache site but my Tom Tom navigator new best and the cache was soon logged at 19:35. Thanks.
What a great spot this used to be years ago when there was water. Found after 5 minutes don't know why it wasn't covered very well. Took bug left cowboy. Covered it up as best i could. look at the lake then left.

Are there any cachers missing anywhere ? Something is definitely dead in this area - it's really foul. Maybe the lack of water is revealing a few long hidden secrets. Cache found easily enough after a little detective work by Mazz. TNLNSL. Thanks.

July 14:
Got to the site of this one, there were muggle workers burning piles of branches.
Didn't want to look suss, so will have another look later when they have gone.
Hopefully they haven't found it or burnt it.
August 2:
Went back for another look, found easily without any mugggles around.
Took Toothbrush, left Red nose
Forgot to take a replacement large ziplock bag for the logbook, so if anyone is planning to do this one, can you throw one in?

Ah yes...the boat ramp was quite comical. It would've been so nice once upon a time. Thanks for another great stop to somewhere we would never have gone had we not been caching. TNLN
Found after launching from the boat ramp... see photo as this is quite funny, but just remember... only 5 knots around this area if boating! TNLNSL.

Third of ten finds for the day. There were bonfires and earth-moving equipment in the vicinity, as a major clearing operation is underway. I walked in to GZ, and spent about 10 minutes casting around for the cache. For some reason, my GPSr wouldn't settle. I put it aside and concentrated on what the cache description said. I found it, partially covered, at 1040. It's a nice big cache, but I didn't have anything large to put into it. I covered it better before I left, but it still won't be a problem for a geocacher. Thanks to the Wanderers for the cache.

Found at 11:40. A nice easy cache - just what we need when there are so many to do. The kids are wanting to go to Sovereign Hill. I see what you mean by the prickles - walked right into a tree - ouch. Thanks. No swap.
Stoped by the road and saw piles of bulldozed pine rubbish and thought Hmmm. But the cache is safe for now. Found after a short search - was showing well. Loged and did a swap and was back on the road.

Found by Quasar. I first thought I was in the wrong spot, but after walking around for a little while found a way in to the area in question, and the cache was in the first spot I looked. Nice to see an old-style cache still around! TNLN. Thanks Wanderers.
First cache find for the Australia Day mini break that we took heading west from Melbourne. It was to be a hot day today, so we got up early from our camp at the Lake Burrumbeet Caravan Park and walked down to GZ carrying 500 flies each already! Found the cache totally exposed, but in good condition. Had to work our way through a lot of Scotch Thistles which we are still suffering from – those scotsmen and their kilts must have been pretty tough and known a way of avoiding these blighters. tn/ln

Nice cycling trip from Ballarat and back. Had a very relaxing break in this beautiful little valley. Took nothing, left two TBs.
It looked ominous as we drove through the cleared lot in the mighty cacher. parked nearby and was relieved when the legend told us it was in a forested area. Once the gps settled down it led us right to the spot and after some deft negotiation of nearby prickly bushes the find was ours.

A nice quick find enroute to Melbourne. Had no problems locating the cache... but what is with the bugs!!! Got mauled by thousands of mozzie like things but none of them seemed to have the capacity to bite... I guess it could have been my stench. Anyway, TNLNSL.

Walking into the GZ I hadn't read the description yet so assumed it was going to be under one of the nasty sharp bushes. However its real location turned out to be a lot more skin friendly (except for the medium sized huntsman lurking on the bits of bark as I replaced the cache).

OOoooooooh, this one is no longer a difficulty of 2 is it. Out for a day of caching around Ballarat, G, J and I headed this way on the way back from Ballarararat in a hopes of claiming this one as out 6th for the day.
The hardest part was deciding where to park the car. No really, once we got to GZ, 4 year old G pointed us to where it was and apart from a prick or two from the gorse, the cache was found easily at 5:15pm.
We took a Photo Frame and left a Squishy Face Guy, a Car and 4 bracelets.
Thanks for an easy cache on a great drive back into Ballarat along this very famous road.

Found quite easily at 11am after a short walk from the car.
We agree with Astro, the tree certainly is lucky to still be here, as many pines have been removed and acacias/gorse sprayed off as part of rehabilitation in the area.
The GZ may have to be relocated if the tree does get the chop.
Thanks Pyrenees Kid, we may return here for a wayside stop on another trip to Melbourne.

I think the tree at GZ is very lucky. It is one of the few standing, having escaped the axe. A lot of logging is currently occurring. See pics. Swapped pencils for a bottle opener. Clear skies, John. Thanks Kid.

Found at 11:35am, while Muzza and Kiwideb waited in the car to start with. GZ took a little while to establish. When it settled I saw the prickle bush and thought oh-no, not another pickley cache! Luckily Muzza reminded me of the clues I had read just a few minutes ealier, and the cache was found quickly. Swapped a quide dog puppy for a toy snake. Thanks Wanders from saving me from more geocaching wounds.
I had been camping here since friday and realised yesterday there was a cache in the park somewhere. I did have the co-ordinates in my GPS. I was going to look for it last night to make my total for one day 10 caches but was bushed when I came back.
Jess and I set out looking for this one while we waited for the tent to dry. Jess found the cache before me. She was quiet excited about it. Jess swapped a teddy & photo frame for a pocket knife.
I swapped a cosmetic bag for some erasers.

Found this one around 9:00 am on a cold crisp but sunny day. In places, there was still a frost on the ground. Using the clues, I got to the rough area and started looking for the 3 foot high, Y shaped stump. That's when I saw it - not the stump but the cache itself. (I never actually saw the aforementioned stump).
This was my first find for the day. I took the tape measure and left the stapler and staples. Lovely area. Thanks again to the Wanderers for this cache.
