After a nice long walk nearby we still had some time to kill so we are finding quick and easy caches. I left hubbie and the geohound in the car whilst I walked up here.Quick and easy find The original log is full and could do to be replaced with something a bit better than the tatty bits of paper in there.

Wow, suprisingly easy...TFTC

23-Feb-24
We were walking along a green area nearby and saw this cache. It is a very quiet area today, although there is a "Stop/Go" person and 4 electrity supply trucks nearby repacing a power pole. The rock concealing the cache had rolled away and cache was behind some mortar. We signed the log and fitted stone back in place. Thanks for the placement gadget-tron

23-Feb-24

We were in the area and had to kill some time so we took a walk around here to collect this cache. Such a long time between logs on this for a cache that is in quite an open public area. Easy find, signed and returned

8018 Another day in Auckland with ABCDF4 and eyespyben. It was the second look in the initial spot that revealed the cache. Thank you for the placement.

This wasn't on the target list for supernannny, merlot, and me today, but since we were passing close by it made sense to stop for another smiley. (For me at least - the others had both been here before.) With a hint item like that, it could have been a long search, but luckily I spotted something out of place and there was the cache tucked in behind. I'll need to come back here another day and explore the parks some more. All good here, thanks!

20-Mar-22
Quick find. TFTC.

25-Jan-22
I came up to Auckland for the MEGA, and still haven't left yet Smile

But today was a bit of a rest day for me, so I just went out and grabbed this one cache to keep my current streak going.

An immediate find at GZ, and with no issues encountered everything was placed back as found after the log was signed.

Thanks for the cache.

We were delivering an item to the cousin of Mr. Kiwi who lies nearby and we thought that we must really get this cache. We had tried on a previous occasion but came up empty-handed. So this time we were determined to find it.

We approached GZ directly as we knew from our previous search where it was going to be. This time, the cache gave itself up very easily. As soon as we reached GZ a very likely spot was spied. A swift investigation of the site revealed the cache immediately and we felt rather stupid for not finding it that last time we had been here looking for it. Anyway, the log was sheepishly signed and the cache put back in its place.

We needed a nearby cache to find on our Leap Day and we hadn't looked for this one yet.
We had a lovely walk on dusk and Geoson S found it fairly quickly.
I was disappointed to see a guy running his dog on the field when there are very obvious signs (including sandwich board in the middle of the field) saying No Dogs!
TFTC!

12-Feb-20
I've been here before with no success. Read through the recent logs, returned today after work. Just one chap walking laps of the field. A quick search on the side I thought, and soon just spotted the lid peeping out. Log paper is full, looks like it's still the original, signed in the header / logo area. Replaced as found. All good here. TFTC

25-Jan-20
Our first geocache in a long time and our first one in our new home of NZ! This little park is a quick walk from our new home and the kids and I came for a quick outing. Logsheet is full, signed on top. Thanks for the cache.

30-Dec-19
Took me a while to find, until I checked around the other side, TFTC

Didn't have to destroy anything, spotted the yellow lid of the cache while slowly moving forward... Squeezed my signature somewhere in bewteen. Thanks for hiding, tftc.

#740. I was at my friend's house and I suddenly realised I was probably going to be out all night, and I hadn't got my cache of the day yet... I didn't want to lose my streak!

So, pretending I had to get some steps for a step challenge, I excused myself. This cache was the closest to my friends house - could I walk the 2 minutes here, find it, and walk the 2 minutes back, all within 10 minutes total? Any longer than that and I'd be arousing suspicion and I would have to explain to my friends what I'm doing.

When I arrived at GZ, I thought "oh no, not a rockwall" - they're hard to find and honestly I don't like caches in rockwalls because it encourages people to pull them apart and destroy them. I had a look around, but I was stymied by a guy walking around the perimeter of the sports field, for what appeared to be exercise. On his outbound walk, I quickly snuck in and had a look. I didn't manage to find it before the guy was on his next lap of the perimeter.

So I waited a bit longer until he was outbound again, and tried the other side. Woohoo, there it was! Just as I grabbed it from its hidey hole, somebody else started walking over. Muggle Alert! I hid the cache in my palm and pretended to look on the phone. But he knew I was there, he had been watching me from his house. Nice to meet you, zorroscottie!!!!

Thank you very much for the cache!! I'm glad that my streak continues. It's now on 48 days, which is not a lot in the grand scheme of things, but I really want to get to 60.

EDIT: Log was full - photo attached.

26-Dec-18
Just out for a walk and came by to find this cache. Quickly spotted it but was reluctant to put my hand in. Did it anyway and retrieved the cache to find a wet log sheet but being waterproof paper it was ok. Struggled to find a place to write my name but squeezed it in.

18-Nov-18
This one took some time. We read some logs and walked around the GZ a bit, trying a few different theories. Eventually we looked closely at something we had ignored. Sure enough, that was the cache. Thanks!

18-Nov-18
Was a bit skeptical on whether this was still there due to the previous DNF, but thought we'd give it a go anyway since we were in the area. Glad to have found this one. Thought we did a systematic search but still missed it on the first few goes, but michaelteacher eventually found it in its sneaky spot just before we were comtemplating giving up! All good here, tftc Smile P.S. lots of skinks around, not a fan! almost squealed a few times when pulling out pieces to find one sitting in the hole!

15-Sep-18
No luck for me today.

30-Apr-18
Today I met thegreatauk for a little Caching tour at noon time. Most of them were easy to find and in good condition.
That was definitely not one of them. Took us ages to find it and by the way, I think it is not really necessary to make it so hard, there are a lot of other and probably better/easier hiding places for the Cache. The wall already looks demaged by all the searches.
Thanks for that Challenge!

25-Apr-18
Tftc! Took a bit of searching but found it in the end

25-Apr-18
Figured it was gone as so many havent found it for a year. Came back with help and boom. Hidden well!!! Thanks for the fun. Look out for spider webs

Out this way with merlot58 and Jag50 caching on this quiet public holiday. Thankfully the muggle sitting right near GZ smoking left as we started to approach. After a thorough search merlot eventually located the sneaky hide.

25-Apr-17
In the area with Aiden29 and Merlot58 and so headed to this cache. As we approached GZ we passed a muggle on a nearby seat and we were a little concerned that we may have to wait for him to move on before we could start our search. Fortunately for us it didn't take long before he walked away. Aiden29 thought she had found the cache, but when the skink moved she realised this was not so. A further search and the cache was located.

25-Apr-17
I joined up with Jag50 and Aiden29 for an afternoon of caching in East Auckland. The nearby muggle thankfully moved on as we arrived at GZ and after a fairly thorough search of the area I found the sneakily hidden cache.

24-Jan-17

19-Dec-16
After a busy day helping out with our local Salvation Army Christmas Appeal, Mrs NewlynFam and myself remembered that we needed to find our daily cache for our respective caching streaks. So that is how we came to be looking for this particular one. I was quite familiar with these fields as I had been to a number of junior soccer matches here over the years. Anyway, once we arrived at GZ, finding the cache turned out to be quite a challenge, not only because we were having trouble locating it, but also as there were a couple of muggles out running around in the fields who had spotted us. Anyway, as they approached, it turned out that they figured out that we were geocachers, even though they weren't. But they had friends who were into it. Anyway, one thing led to another and Mrs NewlynFam soon had the cache in hand. So thank you Gadget-tron for taking the time to set up this cache. We both really enjoyed the challenge. Smile

19-Dec-16
Needed a cache today to continue my 50-day streak, as required by my current GIO licence stage. It had been a very busy day today, which I had spent helping at church, organising gifts for our annual Christmas appeal, and by the time 6pm rolled around and we had finished for the day, I was shattered. However, my fellow caching buddy, Sherlock the Puppy and I were chatting before leaving church (as he had also spent the day involved with/ overseeing the appeal), and it appeard that he hadn't got his cache for the day either (as he was working on a streak of his own). So a quick consult of the map was done to see if we could find a cache that we both hadn't found that we could head too together.
It seemed that Sherlock the Puppy had to take a trip to East Tamaki, so this cache was settled on. It was a matter of avenging a DNF for me, as I had failed to find this last year. But I hoped that with an extra set of eyes, we would be successful today.

So off we went, and before long, we were pulling up alongside the park. Headed on in and began looking.... and looked.... and looked. We must have gone up and down the wall several times, on both sides. But no cache. Nothing for it then but employ PAF tactics- luckily, one of the recent finders was my fellow 50-day streak buddy, Dragon_griffin. She answered and gave a couple of very helpful hints, and as a result, the cache was very quickly in hand. Doh.... both Sherlock and I had already checked that spot! Clearly not thoroughly enough.... a very sneaky little hide here, and easy to overlook.

Stood behind the wall and signed the log, mindful of some nearby muggles who were playing on the field. They began to leave as we prepared to re-hide the cache, but then the Dad said "I have to ask" and himself and daughter came over. We laughed as he said "Geocaching?" and nodded our assent. It turned out that the dad had some friends who had taken him geocaching before, and he had picked up a travel bug along the way that he was still holding on to. He raced home to grab it for me.... I'm sure the owners will be stoked to have it reappear back into circulation!

Anyway, TFTC Gadget-tron! Streak day #8 of 50 complete! Big Grin

20-Nov-16
We had lunch nearby and this was on our way to a park we wanted to go to walk the dog (and let's be honest, go geocaching) so stopped in here to get this. We had been to get one in a similar spot yesterday which took ages so were prepared for the same but the coordinates were absolutely spot on so if it wasn't in the first place we looked it was definitely in the first half a dozen.

This new park was empty except for us, perhaps it is a rugby ground in the winter time. The carpark had a couple of blokes in a ute when we pulled up near them on the way in - evidently they didn't like that as the ute had moved to the other end of the carpark by the time we had got back. Wonder what they were up to? TFTC.

27-Sep-16
I was in the area doing my recycling bit for the environment and dropping off excess cardboard to the local dump so thought I'd take the opportunity to grab some local caches... always an excuse Wink On arrival to GZ I thought I'd be in for a long hunt as there were many hidey holes, but the GPS coords were pretty exact so a short search soon had the cache in hand Smile, TFTC!

09-Sep-16
Nice waik on a sunny morning with grandson. Located cache where the sun does not shine

17-Aug-16
Took two visits but got it in the end. Judging from the soccer boot marks behind the wall this area is well used at weekends. Glad I had gloves on. TFTC

22-Jun-16
Totally stonewalled today...
Could find no loose stone entrances.....
Ooops ..after midnight...better go home ...think I've turned into a pumpkin !

12-Jun-16
After a bad experience with rocks on the pervious day in the area this one was thankfully not as bad. I couldn't look for it on Saturday as the park is full of soccer kids and parents but no one around on Sunday afternoon. TFTC.

15-May-16
Great cache.. Kids played some football & did a spot of caching. Happy days. Loving Geocaching as a Mum of 3.. Giving the kids skills in map reading, deciphering clues and searching for things - and the opportunity to enjoy a fun activity outside with family and friends instead of inside in front of a screen on a gorgeous Autumn Day! Thank you

14-May-16
Hmmm now that I read the hint I think the entrance stone may have dropped out. Located quickly and would have replaced the stone if I'd realised at the time. Son was playing football on the nearest field so I decided to hang out at GZ and watch while looking for the cache as well. Multitasking-like y'know. Found quickly, and while I was signing the log, along came Team BMMR with the same idea! Nice to meet you Smile

14-May-16
In the park today for 11yr football. While the team was warming up M2 & B headed over to find this cache. On the way I spied some likely geocaching activity at GZ and sure enough as we approached Jazzmo was pulling the cache out of it's hidey hole! Nice to meet you Jazzmo on this balmy Auckland "winter"day. TFTC!

09-May-16
Very happy to have found this one. Second attempt and was just about to give up. Nice to get the smiley. TFTC

01-May-16
Found at last! Very well hidden. Had to bring reinforcements to help locate this cache.

30-Apr-16
This one took me several visits to find, Usually, time pressure made me give up too soon, but today I had more time and adopted a very systematic search pattern. TFTC.

09-Apr-16
Purply was due to play soccer in this reserve early today and we were up ridiculously early thanks to the cat so we took the opportunity to get here a little earlier and hunt for this cache. Once we saw the general location we were expecting a long search in all possible places but thankfully we got lucky quickly. Found with purply.

27-Mar-16
Very well hidden

07-Feb-16
Took a few return visits to find this cache, but successful today.

May bed to be checked. Came here with someone who'd previously found this cache, and it is definitely not where it should be.

04-Nov-14
Had to wait for a man and his dog to go past, lucky there are some nice bench seats to sit and wait on. Cache was in full view, tucked it in once we signed the log.

31-Oct-14
Couldn't do this cache a couple weeks ago due to a very intense soccer game taking place, the game seemed to concentrate at the stone wall end and i looked a little conspicuous in work clothes so didnt attempt this. We passed by tonight after doing another cache nearby and made a quick find with no muggles to be seen, must all be trick and treating! TFTC

Was passing by this area and had noticed that this had recently been found so thought I would take another look. Hadn't even got close to GZ when little mr 4 who had run ahead shouted 'found it'. So a nice quick find this time.

Thanks for hiding.

25-May-14
Thank goodness iPhones have torches, it was most definitely stoned it! Caught a glimpse as I shone the light and put gloves on to retrieve as I had to reach into the deep dark unknown! Suspect it may have rolled there and wasn't supposed to have been quite so hidden! TFTC Smile
