A lovely place with great views I searched here again today with GraciesGPSfun. My third attempt at this cache but alas no luck. Wondering if it's still here.
Great location. Lovely views and significant monument to the infamous cheif. No cache here. Did a little spring cleaning.
Got it this time! Missed it earlier with lots of ground-work underway (that's our excuse!) but an easy find today. Having a caching adventure with Just Floundering. TFTC
Great weather for geocaching after our bike ride. Easy find and what a lovely memorial garden. Happy New Year! TFTC
We took a "short" detour on our journey to Bay of Islands, so also this cache lay ahead the roadside.
A short stop at historical place and we found the cache without trouble. TFTC !

There has been a lot of gardening & re-forming work at GZ.
Having found this cache before, I believe the workmen have
removed the cache not realising what it is.

We looked high, we looked low, we looked in, we looked out, but today there was no way we could work this one out!
Thanks for the hunt anyway Pooke .

Nice cache, amazing view and interesting place - TFTC! Lid is broken and cache is rusting slightly - needs a bit of maintenance.
TFTC! Needs Maintenance, but contents all dry and well!
Fabulous views over the area, well worth a picnic!

Miss Geckoh thought she would like to find this cache, so off she went armed with the GPS only to return empty handed. Mr Geckoh found within moments of arriving at GZ - some days you win, some days you lose. TFTC

No luck today, but it looks like some young muggles may have dislodged a few rocks which are covering GZ (we think it is GZ!). Didn't want to dig too much and damage gardens, but may need checking.
Had to search a bit for this one. My co-ords were are little bit out. But Mrs s soon had it under her wing on a windy and showery day. Beautiful view from up here. TFTC
First of a few caches along the route from Paihia to Waipoua Forest. Nice memorial and peaceful with no muggles around this morning. TFTC!
Fantastic views up here. Not a quick find for us after searching numerous places that match the hint but got there in the end.
Wow! Had no idea this reserve existed but it's lovely - thanks for bringing me up here
had a bit to wait before the muggles and there noisy children went away but then it was an easy find. great views.

A great place for mini mob to run around and be a noisy child ... great views too.
On way to mid winter far north event with Flowernz, finding some caches on the way. nice place to stop. TFTC
Teamed up with RusselSchool and LewisBC for the local caches, last time we were here the place was crawling with PD workers, no problems today though.

Out with tikitour on our way to mid-winter cahce-up so had to do a few caches... Had Krazy Koala with me but someone must have logged picking it up before I've logged dropping him off... TFTC Wonderful views from up here - and great to see some of our earliest history.
3.34pm. And to think we always thought it was Hone Heke that chopped the flag pole down !
Thanks for bringing us here and the history.

3.35pm. This place was a delightful surprise to us. Great garden and spectacular view. Interesting bit of history as well. It corrected my life long understanding that Hone Heke himself cut down the flag pole!

Had an hour to spare in the town today before 11am meeting, so wandered up here for the great views, and a cache too as a bonus. Too small though to leave the trackables that wanted to stay. Thanks
Out and about on a job, dont come this way often so had to grab it on the way through. thouyght it had gone for a moment as found a spot that matched the clue... but found safe and sound in another spot.
A nice wee stroll up to this historical memorial, and a quick easy find, just before the rain started again. TFTC
Nice find, pity about the young kids tagging the skate ramp in town during th emiddle of the day
We attempted to find the previous cache at the Hone Heke Memorial, but it was missing at the time. Returned today and made a quick find. The rhododendrons in the garden are certainly looking lovely at this time of year. Thanks.

As locals we would not have stopped and viewed the scenery, if not for the Geocaching
A pleasant spot in Kaikohe with an interesting monument, time capsule, tropical plants and other objects worth viewing. TFTC
Nice garden and great view so lingered over lunch. Great to see sub-tropical plants growing outside as we can't even grow them indoors in Central Otago.
High Noon. Easy find but that was a cold wind!! Interesting facts about Hone Heke. We thought he was the one who chopped the flag pole!
Thank you. David and Noeline.
Thank you. David and Noeline.
Perfect spot for a leg-stretcher on our drive north. Enjoyed the great views while waiting for puha-picking muggles to leave.... reminded us of being in French Polynesia with the steep lush hills and redroofed whitesteepled churches.

Rather wet afternoon today, which I'm sure all farmers would be enjoying. Easy find today. TFTCSL.
Co-ordinates were spot on. Lots of rocks! The term 'Tree' should be used loosely! Found by DW TFTC.

Mr Chillipips and I must not have had cachers 'eyes' out as despite a really thorough search of the whole area, became convinced it must have been shifted by recent obvious gardening in the area, but note someone has since logged it found. Would love to know where it was concealed as we were really convinced it could not still be there anymore. Anyway glad to know it is still there for others to find. Was nice to visit the area in any case and enjoyed walk around the gardens.

Great views but no luck. PD Boys about clearing gardens. Most rocks had been moved and very scattered. May wish to check even still there. Will try again in a month or so.
1st visit PD boys all over the place, returned later but still no luck. Noted many rocks out of place.
Another Northland landmark I didn't know about and am now greater for the experience.Been to Kaikohe countless times and was unaware of this memorial and lookout.Did during lunchbreak.TNLN,SL.
Arrived at the gates sometime after 8 and they were locked so an extra walk required. Quick find on arrival at gz. T4TC
