As there's been no cache to find for months, I'm archiving it to keep it from continually showing up in search lists, and to prevent it from blocking other cache placements. If you wish to repair/replace the cache sometime in the future, just contact us (by email), and assuming it meets the guidelines, we'll be happy to unarchive it.
Had a quick look at this while in the area getting other caches. As others have said, GPS pointing to the wood pile and had a quick look there and closeby. Cache seems to be missing but definitely needs a check by the CO. Will come back another day.
Hi folks - apologies about recent events - will visit and if necessary replace/relocate.
We gave this one a try today, but were not successful either. GPS is pointing to the log pile indeed. We also checked downstairs and it looks like a complete mess. Maybe a check wouldn't be too bad... Thanks.
Interesting place, nevertheless.
Interesting place, nevertheless.
GPS was pointing into the woodpile, therefore making access to the cache impossible. It may be time for the owner to check on this. Cheers.
I driving around the water front and knew that I hadn't yet found this cache. Taking a minor detour, I parked at All suggested location and made my way to the GZ. All I can say is WOW! I've lived the majority of my live in Auckland and never knew that this place existed. This is one of the really cool things I like about geocaching is that it can take you places that you would typically not visit. The gun placements were really cool and I wished that I could have spent longer exploring the area. Unfortunately I had the family waiting in the car so I had limited time. Anyway, the find was very quick with the coordinates being spot on. The only unfortunate thing is that the logs are completely soaked. So although I tried to dry this out, the CO needs to give this a bit of maintenance. Regardless TFTC and for taking me to this fantastic spot. Gets a fav from me.
Unfortunately the cache is completely soaked and the logs in desperate need of attention/replacement. Although I tried to dry this out, I didn't have replacement logs or plastics on me .
Very intersting history here. Had a good look around under ground etc and came up with the goods after a few mins search. Log soaking wet so photo instead
Many tftc andn for bringing me here

Pleased it was an easy find as my battery gave out about 100m short of GZ. TFTC.
They are doing amazing amounts of native plantings in the area. The bunkers are also getting a clean up of all the rubbish. Cache seems safe for now.
Might have had trouble finding this one if it wasn't for the kind help I received from a guy slashing the long grass from around the structure. He knew what I was looking for, and pointed me in the right direction. Many thanks.
Easily found, very interesting historical area of Auckland. Cache contents very wet, so dried them out as well as possible, but cache may need to be checked.

This was my last stop after work today and it's another really great spot for some WWII history. The walk to and from was very nice as the sun was going down, and the cache was a quick and easy find. TFTC!
Inside was full of water, outside dry (odd). Did my best to dry it out but the logs pulp now so needs some TLC.
Found orginally as part of phasevisitor team, now created own account, re-logging as yorkshirekiwi83.
Should have parked at the bottom of the hill and walked up to it, instead of at the top and doubling the number of hills needed to climb today.
Nice views from the top.
TFTC
Dropped off our Shark TB as this is the closest cache to Kelly Tarltons.

Found with WelshGirl77 and SquishyD after a visit to Kelly Tarltons. A nice straightforward find although I first thought I'd have to go down inside the structure before re-checking my GPSr and correcting my search direction.

After much messing about managed to locate. Would like to know who is dumping their rubbish here though.
This was a realy cool spot hidden away!a real shame theres so much rubbish being dumped there. after a little search with keno.nz the cache was retrieved! TFTC
Searched but could not find this cashe. Locals who came with could not assist either!!
Haha, site is awesome if not a little scary to explore after dark, easy find though. Cheers!
Took awhile to figure out how to get around the vegetation in the dark but the actual find was simple, TFTC
Awesome location! Wouldn't recommend it at night though - took awhile to find where we were going! TFTC (:
We are on our second caching holiday in New Zealand. This was a failure for us. We parked at the suggested spot and then walked up a very soggy and steep hill to get to GZ. Once there we encountered many chickens and roosters and evidence of homeless people but no sign of a cache anywhere.
Great area of Auckland that we hadn't found. A bit odd with the brigade of chickens though.
A quick find with Crystal Fairy on an afternoon's caching in the area. Signed log, TFTC.
After the other cache here was surprised how long this one hasn't been found. Very wet and soggy ground to get here though. Thanks for the cache. Did with agcnz on a weekend caching spree.
After a DNF on Jan 31, back in the area today to attempt this cache. Came across a very different (much improved) scenario to the last time which made for a quick find. The area has been tidied up immensely, with all the chicken houses being shifted. Dont know where the all chickens were but they caused no problem. Dropped 2 TBs. TFTC and glad to see a smiley (finally) for this cache.
Hi folks it sounds as though things have changed a little in recent times. Will check it out and move if necessary.
Bombed out on this one. Only gave GZ area a cursory glance because it was, well, not very nice. Looked like the recent cyclone Wilma had flooded the area because all the rubbish lying in and around the structures was just far too manky for us to search. Plus with the chicken coops, hatching areas and the feeling we were likely to be approached, meant we abandoned ship on this cache. Will come back another day.
Found this cache a bit creepy, with all the chickens but no sign of people! After we found the cache, the chooks chased Cachini away from GZ. They must be getting sick of us cachers
Not quite the spot I initially searched. Love the calm chooks that come when called
Many thanks to marksean for the new log. Great to see that people are enjoying this little known part of Auckland!
For some reason I wasn't expecting this much of a trek. Okay by me, I like to get exercise in caching. A nice'n'easy find. The chickens were otherwise occupied. Log book was indeed full, so I added a notebook page to serve as a replacement log. Dropped off a TB. Cheers for the cache, and showing me this side of Bastion Point!
TFTC. Watch out for chickens. The log book also needs to be replaced as this one is full.
Found on BLACK FRIDAY, met up the some locals on the way, said hello to the chickens.
Log book full.

XC and TK out and about on motorbikes hunting a few local caches for a change. Came up to GZ and were greeted by the local girls.. Very friendly... Located cache and TK retrieved while I distracted the girls.
Nice spot and the chooks were a bonus.

A bit boggy and beware the hords of chickens. Found with Mum and Pete the Navigator. Cheers
Lots of activity close to GZ.
One of the structures is now housing free-range chickens, one of the other all set for a bonfire.
There were a number of muggles near by working with some of the vegetation.
The cache may now have chickens on it?
I will try another day when there is less activity.
Nice spot though and a bit of exercise done in the process.

Found originally as part of rebel98 team, now created own account, re-logging as rustynz
See rebel98 log below, the reason for the huff and puff is that being a lovely day, and the weekend, why not cycle around the waterfront to St Heliers and return. Only a few hilly diversions along the way. Thanks again for the cache.

Nice easy walk up the hill and then a bit of a look for the cache, but not in the first place checked.

The eleventh of 21 on what proved to be a very tough day. I think that I walked at least 30 km today. TFTC
Off to a slow start today. Last night while at McDonalds (at 6-10pm) my campervan was broken into and laptop, phone, camera, money, compass and back-up GPS was stolen. Had to replace early this morning. Cache was found after a short search. SL TFTC
What a place to have been posted during the war. Thanks for the cache and the history.
Nice quick find with no muggles for miles.

Took a good friend along with me to find a few GC's in the area. We enjoyed the walk and view to this one, but while container was well hidden, the GZ area is covered in broken glass and seems to be being used as a sleep out..
Thanks for showing me yet another park of Auckland I never knew existed!

Out and about with Anagik on this on today, nice easy find once gps calmed down TFTC
What an amazing historic spot. So tucked away compared to the nearby monuments. After making the find I was going to have a look around some of the other facilities when I interrupted a couple... sorry its a family game. TFTC, Biggles.
Nice find at night - not recommended for this time but in a fairly obvious place. TFTC!
The boys in the team really enjoyed this one, headed off for an explore to see if they could find the missing Boeing that is supposed to be hidden in an area similar to this. TFTC
Really neat secluded spot and a clever hide away from the prying eyes of the people who seem to congregate there from time to time... a great bit of Auckland history. Thanks!!
GPS was not a big fan of the area. Neither was the team of girls who became convinced that locals might pop up at any moment to claim their territory. Very interesting location and well hidden! TFTC
Quick find.
Never knew those were there. Seems like the locals like to do a bit of drinking there as well.
Nice and cool inside out of the unrelnting sun.
Interesting place - had a wander around the others.

Very interesting story and complex area. Certainly plenty of trash around unfortunately. Hope it lasts. TFTC
I thought it would be hidden somewhere more secret, so I searched a while. After realising, there it's not hidden there it was clear where to find it. Thanks for hiding and for showing this interesting place.
Interesting relics. Been here once before looking for a cache that turned out to be somewhere else [:o)]

Out with BaldEd for a morning's caching. This is one area that very few people would know about except for the local hoons and now cachers.
Cheers for the cache.

Out on a puzzle sign off mission with Tufty and we couldn't resist finding this newish traditional cache , seeing that we were in the area. Thanks for the cache.

Originally input the coordinates wrong and was standing in the middle of the road wondering what had gone wrong
But soon we were underway, and arrived at GZ without much further problem. Cache was very well hidden, had to search around a bit above and below ground before finally making the find. Thanks for this one, the third of three very impressive caches we did in the area today.

Breezy walk to GZ with lots of interesting art work on the way. Quick find at GZ which is obviously a popular place for the yahoos T4TC.
The locals must really like these places if the amount of graffiti, broken glass and other assorted junk is anything to go by. Still an excellent place to explore. Thanks.
this was a delight - we live nearby & thought we'd explored pretty thoroughly but had not seen these. Some of the grafitti is really artistic. NINO TFTC

Went to Aucks for a long weekend and found this great spot tucked away where I had never been having lived in Aucks for 20 years after returning for a few days. TFTC. TNLN
we found this one a bit tricky at first
looked like it was a gone burger but excercised a PAF to 'the Commander'
two wet and happy cachers was the result
