We enjoyed the history of this one but no cache to be found, even looking above and beyond. Sorry, needs to be replaced or archived.

I did not like how this one turned out...
We were trying to find the cache when a council man came and suggested that we lost our drugs and we were trying to find them, i turns out, the cache got muggled!!!

A little wet today so skipped closer geocaches that were in the bush to come to this one... found a four leaf clover too!
Great little park just of the Fernleigh Track. The cache is getting a little old as the lid fell of as I opened it. Could do with a little maintenance.
Had just found cache and was about to put it back, when I thought I was been observed by muggles. Turns out it was geocachers colleda, had nice talk about geocaching.
Found easily, but found it easier to remove the battery that was inside the container, so as to fit the log inside again. so it no longer works as a torch ...
Had to wait until a golfer left the area until we could retrieve cache. then we had to wait for him to leave before being able to put it back.
Finally a quick easy find with petzel.
We never say quick easy find in our logs, but there's always a first time.
Thanks for the cache.

I like to bring a stick with me to check before sticking my hand in any holes.

Found it together with UncleGrog on a sidetrip off the Fernleigh track. It was a quick find. Dino and Pebbles had a quick play on the playground and a snack. TFTC Wobblys.
I was a bit hesitant to reach in for this one because of all the spiders hanging their webs around the rocks. Got it though. TFTC. Cool bit of history.
Found on Fernleigh track ride with Baktrak. First time I've done a playground cache & so wasn't aware of the genre or associated problems, however the playground was deserted so all good.
Not a fan of playground caches when I have no kids with me but fortunately we had it to ourselves today. TFTC
Fairly quick find, although well hidden. Watch out for the broken glass, TFTC.
Checked about 5 spot before i finally put my hand on this one..

Went to sign log but I had lost my Fisher space Pen (you know, the one the astronauts use, writes upside down, under water, etc.), had to walk back to the car for another pen (not having a good day!), TFTC!!
The first of a 5 cache search on the southern end of the Fernleigh track.
To do the whole search would be a 16klm round trip walk.Wouldn't expect
anything less from intrepid Geocachers...
A little hard not to be notced by spying muggles,as wife gm58 and myself
tried to look casual in a kids swing area..
Found with no probs. TFTF.

Reperio at 1705. quick stop here today, as just as I was retrieving the cache, I could see a couple of muggles and their kids headed this way. Placed it back quickly and got out of there before it was too late.

took a bit of time to find but finally found it with my fiance with our dog looking on in amusement.

Sorry abandoned this cache as I felt there were unseen muggle eyes watching me. Probably just feeling a bit self-conscious about being by myself in a kids park. When my soon to be born nephew arrives I will see if I can borrow him for another search.
Thanks gearo1

Last one for the evening. 11 in total with 1 DNF and one forgot to visit to get a view DOH!!! Thanks to the Wobblys for a few caches over the evening
For a group of mid-twenty something adults, Team Rocket have spent a LOT of time lurking around parks recently! Still, we were glad there were no mini-muggles around for this hunt, and it was M-Dogg that managed to snag the cache, with only minor cobweb intrusion!
There were no kids around so I made a quick grab for the cache and off I went

Just relised this is my 200th cache

A small detour of my ride along the rail trail. An interesting bit of history, Thanks.
found on a journey along the fernleigh track.
like RockyCruiser, i also felt a bit weird being in a kids playground, alone, and after dark. but a quick find and log and i was out of there quickly, which was good as it smelt like open sewerage at the time.

Today was a bit of a struggle with our caching - our GPS has packed it in and we have had to rely on our car navigator! This one was a nice easy one with a good clue that had us quickly holding the cache. TNLNSL TFTC
Found by Mary & David at 1150. Pleased to have another area of interest. had our lunch here before going in search of the cache. A very peaceful place apart from yappy little dogs opposite. Our thanks once more to The Wobblys.
I did this with cdanielson, my uncle. Like he said... we forgot to bring a pen! It's under a rock in a wall... or maybe it was 2 rocks...
Easy find,
Kids played on the swings while Cruiserdude senior signed the log.

This is a nice little area, can't imagine a colliery there in full swing. The cache was soon found with no-one at all around and could be retrieved without the neighbours calling security. TNLN but thanks for another good hide.
There must have been some big changes here from being a mine in the 80s. Great history in the area pity there is no information signs on the track.
It is not until you arrive at GZ you see where it gets it name from, the is plaque on display above the caches location. Nice and open parkland a few people out doing the mowing and house stuff..no-one at park which made it quite easy..SL and returned it for the next crazy cacher...
cheers

Nice hide,no muggles.Probably too hot.The plaque was the only indication that there had been a collerie.TFTC
Our first find for the day. Great little location and after a quick search we had the cache in hand. There were muggles around doing gardening everywhere, fortuneatly but the cache was out of sight. This was our base for the days bike ride on the fernleigh bike trail. TFTC TheWobblys. [366]
Found the plaque first and had a read. Then the cache was located after a short search in this nice little park.

Amazing how long the grass has been aloud to grow around the kids play ground. It is Summer holidays which means lots of kids playing and higher risk of snakes.

Well you just have to do some caching on the 01/01/10... It just looks so good with the logs...
Thanks to Mrs Madstars for finding this one...
Very nice park... Just wouldnt have imagined this being a Colliery.
Thanks Wobblys for a cool cache.

The co-ordinates were spot on but it still took me a while to find the cache. I put my hands in some dubious places searching for this one. It turned out to be in the first hidey-hole I had searched but failed to turn over the right rock.
It's changed out here since I played a couple of seasons for the Burwood Colliery Bowling Club Cricket Club in the early 90s.

I should have paid attention to the GPS not where I thought the cache was, by the time I got to the correct GZ Webby had made the find.
Thanks TheWobblys for the cache.

Muggles everywhere, but not in the park, made finding rather tricky but patience paid off. had a look all over the park, very nice.
Thanks.

I've been looking for a reason to explore this part of the world, and geocaching is it! Hard to imagine a colliery ever existed here with all the nice modern houses! An easy find, but I think the neighbours were slightly curious.

A quick find amongst the rocks and weeds and muggles. Need stealth, as this cache is very open to overlookers.
