It would appear that some one has taken a disliking to my caches #3 gone missing and counting.
With mixed feelings about Geocaching at the moment, I have decided to archive this cache and open up the area for another cacher to have a go at hiding a cache
I hope that all that have found this cache have enjoyed finding it as much as I’ve enjoyed reading you logs
Cheers

Dang! Another miss on an Oakydog cache. I found the most obvious place, right where the GPS said, I checked said location and nothing. I checked further afield and still nothing. I checked the hint and found the item, but there was nothing under said item.
Dang. Now I'm just wet, cold and tired, so I gave up on the hunts around the hills and headed back to the car.

With the rest of the team off seeing Harry Potter, I decided to make an assault on Arthur's Seat and grab a few caches.
A welcome flat bit of track after making my way from 'Half Way Down'. Nice easy find and then off to 'Friends of Oaky'.

Found at 4.20 pm on a caching day on the Peninsula with visiting cachers from interstate. Very impressive circuit walk from the little car park round OT to Friends of Oakey then to here, enjoying these well-placed caches. Missed out on the ruins, though, need to pay more attention! TNLN Thanks for taking us to another beaut place Oaky.
Our third find on our walk with DicksonTwo in this lovely area. TNLN, but thanks for encouraging us to come here Oakydog.
Found it with my kids. Lovely walk - thank you for introducing us to friends track beautiful on a hot day. The kids swapped toys and pencils, coins for simpson toy. Team Rippon
After we found the right trail leading to the cache
it was smooth sailing. Nice walk through the high
fern forrest.

2010-10-31 13:32 Hiked out to this one from "Oaky's half way down". I have spent a lot of time walking around this area but never this part of the track and thanks to Oakydog for bringing me here. Very interesting.
All good to go Will up date name in log book soon
New site hopefully shouldn’t compromise the historical value of the area

I received the following email from a local historian just after removing cache as I don’t want the finger pointed at geocacing I have been waiting for the area to recover before rehiding, have found an alterative hide not far away which shouldn’t comprise site. Should be ready to go shortly
“I have noticed you have a Cashe hidden in the old chimney in Arthurs Seat National Park, I went there today and noticed that surrounding area is getting trashed. I am currently doing research into the site and the old occupants. I have dated the site at and around 1874. I am hoping if possible you can move your cashe. I am currently speaking to the dromana historical society in an attempt to get the site recognised. I believe the house was originally owned by Henry Barnard SIMON who the nearby simons creek is named after. I think the idea of Geocashe is fantastic and hopefully you cam contact me to talk about the matter.
Thanks”

Well GZ looks like it has attracted treasure hunters of a different type, ones with metal detectors and shovels; the area around GZ has been completely turned up side down
Cache was still there but it had been disturbed and replaced in a non caching manner.
I have now removed cache and I’m now having a rethink about the hide

One less goat today ....great track. I was wondering what was going on with all the holes and it was easy to spot.

Final cache for the day with a nice little bit of history in an unexpected place. Took TB in the cute silver bag. Left a lobster measuring thing that I picked up at one of the other caches in the park. Will move the TB down to Gippsland in the next few days. TFTF
Find 1/5 in this section of the state park, funny to see this creation in the middle of the bush, great spot to draw attention to as I'm sure half the people walking by never even notice it!
Found in the company of Acts2YouthGroup. We took your advice, thank you, as to access. A pleasant stroll despite the drizzle and once at gz a quick find in a very obvious hide, meaning no bush-trashing. . An interesting item here. Thanks Oakydog.
This was cache # 23 of 27 for the day, in the company of Alansee. A great walk despite the wet conditions, I am sure this place could tell some tails, I like the way the cache is hidden it safes the area being trashed. My thanks to Oakydog for the cache.
Loved this bushwalk to GZ cache was found in a very interesting place indeed
Left a TB that might have some tails Thanks again Oakydog

I was quite interested to have a careful look around the object at GZ here, what a great old relic. I admired the stone work and wondered how many of these might exist without people knowing.
Many thanks,

Been wanting to grab this one for a while. When it got published I considered a FTF hunt but decided to let someone else pick it up. Not near a FTF this time but a nice walk well worth it. TFTC.
Found in the company of Coverthynosis & Mr Jibblets on the approch to GZ you wouldn't even know that this pice of history was even here if it wasn't for Geocaching found in the first place we looked.
what a great park for a walk around in & we had a great day for it to not to hot not to cold.

What a random (but cool) thing to be in the middle of nowhere. An easy find once at GZ and a suprise to find trackables. Not having any logs with us we weren't sure how visited this cache was so decided to pick up Chai the Dragonfly TB and Greece Geocoin to help them along with their goals.

I’ve noticed a few caches have been bushbashing to this cache. If you want the shortest option to this cache head down Quarry access road (walkers are allowed on this road) until you reach Friends track which crosses road and takes you right past GZ
Just be mindful of quarry trucks during the week

I found this cache at 3:35pm as the 8th of 16 on my Mornington Peninsula Afternoon. I parked next to the access gate and noticed a little track off to the side which headed in the general direction of the cache. The track was easy access until about 30m from the cache where it petered out and I had to duck and weave a little to GZ, I was looking carefully where I was treading so I was only about 10m away when I noticed the object at GZ. Way cool. I always wonder how you guys know of these little historical gems. Thanks from D B-A.
Found by Bob at 1540
I suspect I didn't find the optimum route to this one - I followed my TomTom until I reached an open gate - but it said "Management Vehicles Only", so I dutifully parked and found GZ was only about 50m away - but there didn't seem to be a track anywhere near. I could see a faint disturbance where someone, or something had bushbashed before, so I headed in and it wasn't long before I could spy the probable GZ and, a short time later, was logging my find. I was still a little surprised that there didn't seem to be a path anywhere near, as my maps indicated one nearby and I wanted to follow it to the next cache. Anyway, I headed back and drove on to a spot I'd parked before to tackle the other nearby caches.
TNLN
Thanks Oakeydog - the relic sure must have been from a long time ago judging by the regrowth around it.

This was cache # 15 in my Mornington Peninsula Caching Trip. I have a cache in this park, but I hadn't been to this part of the area, and was unaware of this track. It's a great track through some wonderful bushland.
By doing this cache first, it made it easy to do the next one. This one was found nice and easily, but I was surprised at the item it is next to - just part of the history of the area. My thanks to Oakydog for the cache and the walk.

Dropped off KazTrekka gold ingot, as this area has a small goldfield from along time ago in the gully below the historical site. Keep hunting for gold!
The first cache of the morning. A nice walk through the bush to this interesting spot. Thanks oakydog.
Well spotted! I was looking down at the track and didn't notice the Tale teller until I stopped on the GPSr's command. An interesting spot and a nice walk.
Thanks, Robmc.

Team "Are we there yet?" visited this cache tonight.
Saulman1010, Hazy1, Trailertrash78 and geo kids fired up the geo kombi and we hit a few caches as an after school activity.
Nice walk in the park that tired the geo kids out that will bring blessed sleep tonight.
Great location and love the camouflaged cache.
Left various goodies.
(thanks guys for making me a year younger ;P)

The weather wasn't to bad, the much needed rain had taken a break leaving the time to enjoy this great parkland!

Found this cache easily, knew of the historical feature, in the gully below, there was a small gold field. Found by Kidcorza, 1st timer Sheppythekid and geokid Sienna. Took Alice the camel has one hump, placed sheep. We are so lucky to have great areas in our backyard. Thanks Oakydog.
Found @ 19:10 A pleasant night for a walk. 3rd one for the night in the area. Didn't expect to see this structure here and I'm sure there were many tales told here. TFTC TNLNSL
FTF for the walenators at 2.30pm....Just lazing around on a hot day and in came this email of a newly published cache.....Off we went and found our 4th FTF. Love this hide, you would never suspect the structure at the Gz would be there. A lovely walk in the park to get to the Gz. It could certainly tell some "tails". TFTH...Thanks for taking us to this great spot Oakydog...SL...TNLN
