Interestingly enough, Eucumbene Dam was the entire reason for my visit to the area. We are contractors who survey/monitor all the Snowy Hydro Dams and today it was Eucumbenes turn.
After the long day taking levels all over the dam, I wandered over to GZ and found the cache just sitting out in the open on the concrete. After signing, I gave the hide a bit of coverage, but didn't see anything nearby that resembled the hint, so hopefully its in the right spot.
Thanks for the cache!

Thank you for bringing us to the Dam Wall - we enjoyed looking at the great views and the interesting boat house
Found It!
A bit of a drive to get here but a quick find once I got to GZ. An interesting bit of engineering and history.

Cache soon found by sebass19. This is an impressive dam, well worth the visit. A favourite for the location. TFTC.

All day caching in and around the wide Jindabyne area. Lovely weather and lovely views, normally leave caches alone, but this one is so far from everyone and in desperate need of TLC. All good to go again!

Dropped off Motorhome TB but log book needs replacing as it is totally wet. Noted we were here in mid 2010.
Aimless drive so we thought to have a look. We found it but the container was left upside down and water soaked into the container and notebook. Nice spot
Out for a fun days caching with fitzy_1965, albida33 & cosmonaut97.
We headed from Canberra down to Cooma out to Anaminaby and back through Namadgi.
Quick find here today.

23,762. Found with minniek, albida33 and cosmonaut97 during a loop from Canberra to Cooma, Adaminaby and back through Namadgi today.
With a planned walk in Canberra postponed, we headed out on Plan B - a loop from Canberra to Cooma, Adaminaby and back home through Namadgi. After the others grabbed caches in Cooma, we headed out towards Adaminaby. Next find of the day. A nice quick find at GZ by minniek. Wow - that is an impressive dam. And one heck of a boat ramp ! Signed the log, replaced the cache as found, then headed off to the next one on the list.
Thanks the_a-team !!

In surfing this beautiful area by satellite, this cache got our attention. Thanks for the interesting history and description. Wish we could travel here someday.
A quiet day at the dam today and a quick find. We are still trying to work out what these objects are/were for.
Found on a good day looking at the Snowy river Hydro power plant scheme, only had time to wisit the center in Cooma and Eucumben Dam,
spotted by the keen eye of our hostess on a walk around the dam wall on a sunny Sunday morning
What a fantastic view. So many people fishing and heaps of boats on the water - sans crew tho. TFTC.
I haven't been down here for many years - nice to come back. Parked on one side and walked over the wall to the cache. Quickly found with the hint, then wandered around and looked at the boat shed and the plaques etc.
Thanks,
Thanks,
5th of 5 found on way to Eucombine dam a few days ago. This is some massive works!! A lot of fill was needed to plug this hole. Saw the actual design at the snowyhydro display in Cooma today. Very technical, especially without the computing power we have today.
After making the find, wandered over to the nearby shed to discover an old dry dock. Looks like it hasn't been used in years. Would be interesting to know the history of this.

I guess if you are a 15 year old lad from Weipa used to catching at least 3 fish every day, then you might soon get bored if you haven't caught another one after three days. grandson was bored out of his brain today, so loaded him into the car and drove down to the dam wall. He soon sorted out the GZ and in no time log was signed, cache returned and we were on our merry way again - this time towards Kalkite. TFTC the a-team TNLNSL
Thanks for letting us know the hitsory about Eucumbene Dam. We are actually staying at Angler's Reach on the dam! Well it was freeeeeeeeeeeeeezing cold at GZ today. The area was covered in a thick layer of snow. Kids got out and had fun running about in the pristine white snow that no one had walked in that day. Cache was quick to find. We did some swaps. Left a pencil. All good with this cache! Thanks for placing it...eatmorchikin from Brisbane
A long weekend road trip to the Snowy Mountains, with some bushwalking through the snow... and of course a few caches stops!
Spent quite some time exploring the area, had not been to this dam before. Thanks for the reason to drive out here.
Cheers

Found it on a sunny Easter Monday while staying in the area. Nice spot and found easily after using the hint. The dry dock was surprising as it looks like the tide hasn't been that high in years. TFTC
After a lengthy but picturesque drive we quickly found this cache and signed the log. A great pity that the water in the dam is so low. With misschief18 and Bentley TB

Nice spot - glad we came out to find the cache. The boys had fun climbing on the barriers. Afterwards we drove down to the bottom of the dam wall - that thing is HUGE!!
As I was headed for Cooma, a slight detour to grab this one, it was starting to get dark and I was hoping to get there in some day light, the sun was set as I got there lucky for me the torch had life left. Well took some time to locate the cache, and I was relived. TNSL TFTC
Snowy's June 2013. After quite a bit of driving I arrived out here. The water level was fairly low, but not as low as it was last time I saw the dam from the other end. It looks like these things have not been used in a long time. Thanks.

Nice drive out. Amazed that there aren't more caches out this way as so many great spots to explore. Thanks for bringing us out to the dam. Tftc
Great clue - pity I started from the wrong end. Wonderful drive around an interesting place. Many thanks.
What a great place to visit - we have never been this way before. Enjoyed our morning - thank you.
A quick find on our Camping and 4WD'ing holiday tour.
Took: TB.

Our final find of the day! We got to the dam at 4pm, and it was a stunning sight, but quite dismaying seeing where the water levels had once been, compared to current levels.
The clue was necessary for us here(!), and even then it took a second look by me after jnr CC had skited over the area too quickly! Admired the TB, but left the beaver in situ, and signed log.

Been up this time many times, so was due to find this cache.
Very peaceful lifestyle up this way, picked up a TB and dropped off Canadian Beaver.

First find for the day after a nice drive from Jindy. Couldn't believe the low water level of the Dam! TFTC
geo & ski buddy dropped off TB Tasmanian Tiger grrr whist visiting with parents.
Great bicycle ride along the length of Eucumbene Road (64km total) - bitumen all the way and very quiet. New log book, thanks. Plenty of fish seen from Dam wall.
First cache for the day. Nice and quiet at GZ today. Had a notebook with me so have replaced the temporary log sheet. TFTH
I left home on the 18th so unfortunately was unaware of move. All was not lost though as when I have a DNF I try to find at least 2 GCA Locationless caches nearby & certainly achieved this. I then took a dirt road to Dry Plains & passed through some of the finest grazing country I have seen on this trip. A perfect blend of open country & natural bush. The dam was a bit dry with trees & shrubs growing in places that would in wetter times be underwater. The weather was hot as it has been the whole trip. There are still plenty of caches nearby so will return at some stage, thanks.

OK, has a new home away from the weather and out of curious critters reach... hopefully.
1500. Found with lid loose and logbook outside container. Very wet after recent rains. Log book needs replacing as being 'eaten' didn't have one on me to replace it. Maybe a hole for critters so owners may consider relocating to similar hide easily found very close in vicinity.
Took compass, left dongle!

Found this one but the box was open with no log and the contents strewn around and within the hiding spot, did some animal get to it? The lid was outside the hide location for all to see.
Left one of our caching stickers in the box. The dam looks like the water level is very, very low...

Found at 1430hrs, saw it as a new entry on Sunday, had to race out to claim the first to find on Monday.
This is a great location for a cache. There was no log book inside the cache container so we added one (we carry a few spares) We only hope that we were indeed the "first to find". We had lunch whilst we sorted out the log. We took nothing but left our Ferrari (it's a red one)
Thanks

Forgot a log book for this one. Left a piece of paper inside instead that can be used.
Will get a log book in there next time I am out there.
