3rd time lucky. It's not too securely in place so i can see how it might get knocked out.

garnercx had a chat with a gardener about this one and ended up with an old version of this cache being replaced. I've swapped it out for a brand new model with fresh log sheet (rite-in-the-rain paper too).

Too many muggles... Sad

21-Oct-11
For completeness, this is what happened...

I was walking past the geocache "Docklands Park" today and there was a council worker doing maintenance on all the sprinklers. I walked up to ask him if he had found the geocache - as if he hadn't - he was about to. He had found the sprinkler head, but had just left it on it's side in the garden bed cause he didn't know what it was. He was going to sling it in his box of spare sprinkler heads.

However, in his box of spare sprinkler heads on the tray of his ute was the original geocache. Apparently it had been thrown in the box last year when they last did maintenance and it had been in the box in the depot ever since. It had been a source of mystery for them all, but they never thought to open it. They just held onto it for spare parts.

He took the current cache with him to show the other lads at the depot, and reinstated the old cache. The current cache had no container in it, just two small scraps of paper, so it's no major loss.

Now the original container is back with the original silver capsule and the plastic protector inside. The owner might want to swing by to check it's OK. I tried to get him to give me the current replacement container so I could give it to you, but he wanted to show the guys at the depot, so I figured if they can be guardians of it, instead of removing it every year, that can only be good.

I don't think I'll disable this cache just yet. I'll have a look at it later in the week and replace if needed.

GMelb headed out to this park after work to find this cache. We have one of these caches ourselves so cache was located quickly. Nice park. As I was replacing the cache a muggle appeared and sat down to relax. Eventually got cache replaced without him being any the wiser. TNLN tried to SL, not sure if you will be able to read it tho! Log is wet and need replacing asap.

Hmmmmmm . . . . so much for the write-in-the-rain log!

10-Oct-11
Finally found this sucker at 2300. Been here a few times and I don't know how I missed it last time. Have seen these before, it still took me 10 minutes.
Was unable to sign the log it was so wet.
Thanks for the cahce.

10-Oct-11
Clever hide, accurate co-ords, but log unusable as it's well on it's way to paper mâché! T4TC.

20-Sep-11
A clever hide - I looked in teh wrong area initially.

12-Sep-11
A walk in the park, if you've got a good geocaching eye!
Thanks Empire... I needed a cache for today but wasn't having luck with the 'easier' ones in town. Very nice place for a cache.

28-Aug-11
We looked here, we looked there, we looked everywhere. We were just about to call it a DNF, when Ms RedcrowX got clever and found it. Looking at the evil cache all I could think was "you clever bugger" Well done and thanks for the cache.

My main activity today was capturing and placing munzees, but there were a few caches in the area I had not found, and this was one.
It was a very quick find when I noticed a change in a pattern.
It certainly is a nice place around these parts now, and a maturity is beginning to come through in the lawns and gardens. All the water features and miniature forests make it a fairly nice place to be.
Thanks for getting me down here Empire.

Tried looking for this on my lunch break, but many muggles around so didn't have a great look. Will have to come back another day when less people around.

Today I found 18 caches.
This was for me the best one.

Easyer find than my first visit, I'd previosly considered this style of hide, however failed to notice it.. This time my GPS was pointing me elsewhere, however as it was a different and less likely spot I ignored Mr. GPS and instead (eventually) wandered over here to make the pretty quick find.. Thanks Empire for the hide and my #1421 find..

07-Aug-11
Had two attempts at this whilst in Melbourne, no luck, even after using non conventional means to search.
Nice ride anyway.

05-Aug-11
An excellent hide. I was initially looking at totally the wrong place due to my GPS going loopy. I don't know why as the sky view was clear. Eventually I scouted all around and had the well camo'd cache in hand. Very good The Empire. T4TC

28-Jul-11
Found this one on the second attempt. Nice hide

26-Jul-11
Quick find before a days mettings nearby TFTC

24-Jul-11
Found it together with nadya. Quick and easy find in a nice spot and with a good camo. As we did the search before, this time we knew where to look and what for. Parked in the 15 minute spot nearby and that was more than enough to retrieve the cache.

Found today with _husky_. Came here last week but there were muggles playing footie nearby, so had to come back the 2nd time. Today is rainy and no-one around Wink Nice cache!

Had a few goes at the other real ones before noticing that this was loose and had a familiar sign on it. SL and TFTC

Clever stuff!

18-Jul-11
Early for an appointment in the area, so checked for caches, and there was one just 100m away. Looked in a few genuine devices before I found the right one! Thanks for the cache.

July 11, 2011 | 2:21 PM

Found after a nice breezy lunch with some old muggle friends.

Fairly quick and easy find, and perhaps the hint gave it away as I knew what I was looking for before I got there.

Thanks to The Empire for this one. The effort is appreciated.

02-Jul-11
Very clever hide!

One of my favourites! Took a few seconds to realize, since there are a few other distractions in the area, but if you look close enough, you'll notice the discrepancies.

Hmm no idea where this one would be???? Nice location. Smile

Had given up on this one, then thought I would turn the gps on and off and it gave me a whole new location. Easy find and had been wondering when I would find this type of cache. TFTC TNLN

Brilliant! Absolutely awesome clues and cache! Thanks for the fun!

24-Jun-11
I found the cache, but looks like no log in this one.

Surprised to find the lake here. After living a few hundred meters away for so long, it was certainly a pleasant surprise.

Replaced. Please remember it has a geocaching.com sticker on it, do not take anything apart that doesn't.

The cache was gone when I attempted it.
I can pretty much guess where it should be. What a pity!
Marked my first DNF in the Australian trip unfortunately.

Was with a friend who had previously found the cache and he could not locate it at all. Can you please check on this one Smile

12-Jun-11
Didn't find it, our GPS kept on getting confused. Clue wasn't helpful at all either, nice location though.

10-Jun-11
No luck. The coords put me away from where the clue would suggest.
Cheers though

05-Jun-11
Was looking virtually everywhere, different spots, even disassembled some things (then put them back), but no luck. Was out of time so decided to give this one another try next time.

Difficult to find carpark on this busy night.
Muggles everywhere..
But we manage find it without muggles see us.

Beautiful Location!
TFTC!

17-May-11
I too got wet from the fountain. But when I found myself in open grass I started to doubt my coordinates. A quick check revealed 14 metre accuracy. I can understand in amongst the buildings but I was in open air!

So I decided to sit down and read some logs and by the time I was finished I knew what I was looking for and the location made sense. A sampling eventually found the right item, but it sure took some opening. I was worried I was going to break it, but eventually I secured the bison and got the log out.

Thanks The Empire.

Now for the lost pen.. sigh...

I work near here but do you think I can find it - No - can you hear the frustration. Even bought a WillyWalker along to try & help me out but ..... try another day.

05-May-11
When at the GPS coordinates, I had the cache "container" in my hands after just a few seconds. I also had opened it. But guess what? I still didn't recognize it as the cache because I got the hint totally wrong. However, then I had a lot of fun with the "Reed Vessel", and I got wet.

After reading other log entries, the penny dropped and I realized that the hint had fooled me. I should have trusted my GPS much more. Respect to the cache owner! That was clever. Very well hidden. And as promised, I couldn't possibly get wet here for a certain reason.

Thanks a lot! Vielen Dank aus Deutschland!

On a morning walk while in Melbourne for a week-long training course. Got to GZ and admired the sculpture and surrounds. After a short time I had a pretty good idea of what I was looking for but nothing was really standing out from anything else. Aha what about this!? How confident I was! How wrong I was!! Reassembled and replaced and out of time. Not sure if I'll get back here this week so will log the DNF. But I did enjoy the location and the hunt so TFTC Cheers ......Gaztek (Mrs)

Was surprised to see this little park deserted today, maybe the rain had put most people off.
I'd had a previous attempt here, but a CityWest water guy kept giving me the evil eye, so it was left for today.
Took a little time to locate this one I'm ashamed to say, as I have a couple of these myself.
Great work The Empire, and more importantly, great location, I loved the walk thru platform,
and the cleverly themed hide.

It would be lovely to be a resident in one of these apartments with this great park and a view of the city. Sort of guessed what I'd be looking for and it became a matter of eenie meenie miney mo. TFTC

30-Apr-11
Crossing the bridge into this lovely green space was a pleasant approach to this area, and I just adored the big structure with the anemometer thingies spinning around in it! Near GZ we waited for the balcony-dwelling muggles to look elsewhere before attempting to find the cache, which was very cleverly hidden but succumbed to our concerted efforts after a bit of a search. Nice to have green space like this in the city, and I really liked the water feature with all the phrases written on it in this park. TFTC. =^.^=

10th find of 11 on an Anzac day night run with cycling_guy...

This spot had us both wanting a city apartment as it just looked so sophisticated and cozy and convenient.... Great little park here too! Wandered around it as we tried to zero in on GZ - tried a few spots which we realised were not what we thought they were, broadened our search and changed our MO before cycling_guy returned to first guess and found the right spot.... Although nice to see a clever take on it which we didn't expect and had us fooled for a minute...

TFTC! Now to leave these lucky people in peace from all the torch-flashing!

This took a little longer than expected, So as soon as we located it, I left 42below to do the honours of signing while I ran back to feed the parking meter.
Just made it as the parking inspectors stopped in front of my car, I threw another 50cents into the meter and thwarted their plans of booking me.
A big sigh of relief on my part..
Back to the cache and was just in time to see it being replaced.
A sneaky one indeed, not where I thought it was..

24-Apr-11
This one took a while as the GPS was a tad hypo bouncing everywhere- think we had left our geosense at home too- but eventually oldwinebottle came up with the goods! Nearly got a parking ticket, but a quick sprint on owb's part saved the day!

23-Apr-11
We failed this one before, so we brought reinforcements.
We failed again.
We'll be back.
And once day, the GPSr won't bounce us all over the place, and our geosense will be with us...

22-Apr-11
This one took me a lot longer than it should. My GPS led me around in circles, but never quite close enough to see the cache. I checked a couple of objects, but only some minutes later did I spy the right one. Found as part of a 15 km walk around the city and surrounds. Thanks for the cache.

17-Apr-11
Second atempt at this one, tried quite a while ago with no luck but after a lot more experience at geo caching and realising not all caches are a sistema containers we found this one quickly today SL TFTC The Empire Good hide

Find 3 of 6 on a canoe-caching run with Polecat, Daryllm123 and Vicki. Stopped to get this on the way to the boatsheds to launch the canoes. Had a fair idea of what we were looking for - so after a short search we found the correct one! TFTC

Found this cache with Vicki after dragon boat practice. It certainly had me going for a while. (This is my second attempt. Red Face).
Thanks, The Empire. Smile

Melbourne - # 901
This was the second cache I did on my own in the late afternoon while the family rested at the hotel. For a while I was distracted by the feature near GZ and therefore misinterpreted what the hint meant. But after a while, I checked the GPS again and it had me far enough away that I became suspicious of something I've seen often enough in Sydney. Suddenly the clue seemed to mean something different and I had it quickly then. Thanks

# 1263 @ 4.05pm. Today was a "Dad and the GeoPrincess day out in Melbourne while waiting for the Queen at her seminar" day.
After a nice tour of the aquarium we took the city circle tram around to this one as the GeoPrincess was starting to get a bit tired of walking.
A nice hide that we have seen before but is always a favourite, in a nice little park area.
Lots of Western Bulldog supporters out today after their big win against Brisbane.

This is a lovely little park. Had an idea of what the cache might be, and after looking for an imposter found the cache. Thanks for the cache and for bringing me to a part of the city that has changed significantly since I was last here.

Took a bit of searching for this one but got there in the end. Repaired a few sprinklers while I was searching too.

Thanks.

3rd time lucky! My gps lead me within 10m and my powers of observation were low, but persistence won the day! Ingenious cache container! TFTC! This park is worth a visit, I like the walk through water feature and the "forest" nearby with the paths and benches; definitely an oasis for the city folk in the area (who must have thought I was some sort of weirdo stalker, as I kept coming back, snooping around, prising things apart, looking into shrubberies....anyway, they'll be pleased that I've made my find and can stop freaking them out now!)

It's always nice to find a cache that has had a lot of thought put into it. I always find it takes about as much time to get the tiny log out as it does to find the cache! TFTC

Back again. This is our second shot at this one. We were fairly certain we knew what we were looking for last time and our suspicions were confirmed this time. Still took us around 5 minutes to locate however. Really not sure how we didn't find it last time, having being so close!
Thanks The Empire for this clever urban cache.

GPS lead me on a merry chase (or so I thought) then decided maybe it was being accurate for a change, and with a little looking found where the cache was hiding. Something of a matryoshka doll of a cache - layer within layer - but excellent protection against the elements! Amazing amount of life around and in this little oasis - TFTC

This is our second attempt at this one, and it was GREAT when we found it. We searched high and low for ages.... The GPS was playing up a bit, so we had to use brute force. And we got it in the end. EXCELLENT cache!!
