Hi lordlynThis geocache was brought to my attention as being in need of an owner maintenance visit. The cache owner needs to check on this cache ASAP and either replace it, repair it or archive it, after picking up any geo-litter. See the [maintenance section of the Geocache Listing Requirements/Guidelines](http://www.geocaching.com/about/guidelines.aspx#listingmaintenance).I've added this cache to my watchlist, and I will check back in four weeks to be sure that the maintenance has been done. In the meantime, I have temporarily disabled this listing. When the maintenance is completed, the owner can enable the listing by clicking on the link below the cache name to return it to active status.Whatever your intentions, please **post a note** here on the cache page (not email) to let us know that you are still active and maintaining the cache. If a month passes without seeing a response, then I'll assume that this listing should be archived. Please note, that if a cache is archived due to lack of owner maintenance, the cache is unable to be unarchived.RegardsTheCoddiwompler
What a cool cache this would have been in its day. It didn't take us long to work it out, and Geodad was able to unseize the mechanism so we could retrieve the cache container. We wondered how so many had logged it before us as looks like it's been a while since it has worked. In order to log it we replaced the log and put it back. It should now work better, but given the pipe is fallen over (clearly meant to be standing in the ground), and the owner clearly hasn't been active in many many years we think this should be archived. Maybe someone clever could then have the opportunity to replace it with an equally awesome cache .
This cache is in disrepair. The pipe is meant to be standing but simply laying. We were able to unseize the mechanism and replace the log book but it either needs serious maintenance or to be archived. It looks like the owner hasn't been active in years.
Our NEW ZEALAND - TASMANIA - AUSTRALIA JOURNEY takes us to beautiful places and provides us with an incredible number of wonderful moments and experiences.Occasionally we also visit a few GeoCaches along the way.Found it, but unfortunately it no longer works...! See previous logs...! We have informed the cache owner.Thank you for placing, maintaining and caring snapfish2 from SwitzerlandPS: Translated with the Deepl app
Yep, gave a gentle pull and nothing.A nice quick easy find, grab not sign and flee.TFTC
Found the pipe. Pulling the nut didn’t do much. The mechanism might have been jammed up. Pipe is lying on ground
In the Hawjes Bay area for the long weekend and camping at Haumoana Domain. Cheeky hide but couldn't quite retrieve the log. TFTC
Went for a walk while master 13 play cricket found it but the pole had fell over still managed to get the cache tftc
First geo ever. Came across a boy who was searching today and helped him around then found downloaded the app and boom!!!
Found - Mrs McMike2012 & I now live full-time in our caravan & travel the country visiting places we want to visit … we are now parked up at the NZMCA Eriksen Road Campsite in Napier for the next few days … planning to get in a few days R&R riding some of the numerous bike tracks & trails around Napier, assuming the rain stays away … but if it doesn’t, then we’ll just chill in our caravan … decided we’d go for a drive today, so headed out through Clive & on towards Haumoana Beach … decided we’d better do a few caches … this cache was an easy find, log completed & replaced … pleased to add another 'smiley face' to the tally … TFTC ... TN:LN:SL ... #3,421 for us.
This was a real puzzle cache for me. The coordinates turned out to be correct despite the mention of 200 to 300 metres distance from GZ. The 1.5 m HIGH also had me baffled and struggling to find a suitable hide for the cache. I decided then to piece the puzzle of finding it together from the comments of previous finders. Mission completed! TFTC.
Needs maintenance as I found it as I was giving up by complete accident. Thanks for the rainy adventure
Wandering in Wairarapa and Hawkes Bay between Easter and Anzac day. Found it on my route.
Another good one!

I wasn't expecting such a cool hide, but once I followed the hint, soon with a smile I was adding my name to the log, nice one TFTC
Ducks Nuts was my 6th ever find almost 13 years ago. Was such an amazing cache in its heyday. Sadly it's very much worse for wear these days and doesn't really work like it should. The mechanics really need some love to bring it back to its former glory. I took @absolutedelirium and @mayamadzi to show them my all time favourite cache and was saddened to see it's state. Absolutely over run with Slaters and cockroaches.
The logbook could do with replacing too. It's gotten quite damp over the years. It's dry at the moment but suuuuuper tatty.
Still a fun find but would love to see it resurrected properly.

Now off for a walk along this sanduary. Great gadget cache. Squished a cockroach and lots of ants here. Nut needed a good pull though. Cheers.
Day 16, Friday 4 February - Napier - Te Awanga - Clive - Napier. Picking up the last couple of GTs and a few others in the vacinity. Then out of town to Palmerston North for the night for a sleep over with my friends the Etherlord kids. Lets move Toby and Lenny!
Zara, Toby, Lenny and I are on our North Island expidition for a couple of weeks. Got The Seagnoid along for the first 4 days, heading to the Auckland Mega. PWGTs and TMGTs are on the radar for this trip. Lots of driving on gravel roads and visited lots of amazing places on our 6000km road trip snagging 200+ caches along the way. Visiting Cape Reinga, Bay of Islands, Gisborne and White Rock along our journey. The highlight cache for the trip was GC815zh Journey to Pandora (night cache in Ack) Another awesome trip. Thanks to all CO's.

After an unfortunate encounter with a slater I found this - neat clue! Will have to come back to fill in log as didn't have a pen handy. Logbook needs attention, pretty damp.
On holiday with the family, enjoyed exploring the area. Youngest son had a go at the cache first then eldest son took over and figured it out. Nice to find something a bit different, well done. TFTC
And this is... my sixteen thousandth cache find!!! [:8D] Woohoo!! [:8D] . Okay, enough celebrations. Back to work. Walked here from hte road end - it's a bright sunny day and I was glad of this opportunity to duck down to the trees. Excellent cache, nice to see a very old logbook.
I was supposed to go to the mega. Which got postponed, so I cancelled my arrangements, but labour weekend is still a three day holiday... but car hire was too expansive. So I decided to make it this weekend for a road trip to Napier, to mop up the TM- and PW- GTs there.

Plenty of reasons to love this one. Caches like this that have stood the test of time after 12 years are my preferred targets. Add excellent coordinates and a clever hide almost in plain view and you have most of the ingredients that make geocaching such an enjoyable pastime.
After biking from Clive out to Clifton in the morning, we rode up beside the Tukituki to Havelock North to hunt down something for dinner (@ New World supermarket). On the return journey it was only a short detour back to GZ for the find. I have to admit that locating the actual cache from its 'camouflage' container had me puzzled for a moment because I didn't see the mechanism described in the hint.
Like the other 'Sanctuary' cache, the log here is in a sorry state of decay. Surely caches of this relatively historical standing deserve more TLC than they appear to be getting. (Waterproof florists' paper would be ideal logbook material, imo). Even so, this cache is worthy of a favourite point.
(Log dates will be corrected via pc later).

Found with MVT. Cache is at the set waypoint. Will need some maintenance soon as the log is degrading and ants have made the GZ their home. TFTC
Youngest MTV: found this one with Eggby after staying the night at a nearby campground. It was a lovely walk and after getting confused by the description mentioning to continue walking another 300m from GZ, we trusted the GPS and found the cache. Unfortunately it was covered in ants and rather damp. Might need replacing soon! TFTC
Thanks for your amazing cache.
Nice crew of Gisborne Cockroaches on guard.
Deserves a favourite

Exploring the area today but unfortunately it was high tide to explore the cape. Instead we found a geocache and a winery..... TFTC
While parked at local camp site walked to this one very windy today cache in good order many thanks favorite from us
Jono went down the bank for this search. After a few twists and turns, the cache was in hand. TFTC!
One of nine caches located today (not including the four credited for an Adventure Lab late morning) on day 7 of our motorhome summer holiday to Hawkes Bay. Went for a walk during a brief stopover in Haumoana. Took a moment or two to figure out how to access this one. Not sure that we did it the right way, but we managed to get to the logbook and sign it! #3687. TFTC.
When a nosy passerby asked what we were doing in the trees we gave an evasive answer. However as we were walking away we saw him heading into the trees to find out for himself. Hope he didn’t meddle with the cache!

Staying at Clifton beach campground for 4 nights.... yesterday I walked up Te Mata peak and back down the long way and really lucked out with the caching by only successfully finding 1. Today I am up early and out on my bike as the others want to head into Napier shopping...so I have to be back by 10.
Nearly time to head back...so a quick clever hide here.

Staying in the Hawkes Bay with Vistra for a few days and grabbing a some caches in the local vicinity. Today we hired cruiser bikes and caching on two wheels. Hoping for a wine stop or three. A quick stop here to grab this one. All.food here.
The cache is exactly at the coordinates. We were very confused about the bit saying to go 100 or 400 m South. The apparatus is very much in need of repair. We eventually got it to work and it was cool. We tried to get it back to the way we found it but now it seems harder to get it to work. The next person to find it should maybe bring a pliers for grabbing the nut to save your poor fingers.
I lived in Haumoana about 50 years ago, and we would often play around the stopbank and river flats.
A quick find, right where the cords said it was.
An easy retrieval, but I had a minor mission to replace it. Only thought of the easy/obvious method afterwards!

I wasn't able to get to things to work when I visited back in 2014. Today, it functioned exactly as I expected it to. Obviously, a favourite point for this terrific piece of engineering.
On a TMGT expedition, with four wagging tails in tow. Stayed nearby and though just four hundred metres, as the heron flies. What a great area for birdlife, and a novel bit of engineering at the end. Thanks for this cache.
Couldn’t find this one today. Confused by the notes, searched the bush from the GZ 100m south but couldn’t find anything.
Whoops, I didn't find this one after all, signed off as found by accident. The hints and previous comments totally confusing so gave up looking. Has the GPS reading been changed, notes say moved 100 - 300 mtrs away but doesn't say if GPS reading changed as well.
Remember the old Ducks Nuts from a while ago. Nice area for a ride by the water,
I was not quite sure how to make sense of this one. How can one walk 100 to 300 meters from GZ for a traditional cache without updated coordinates?? I checked quite well where the gps took me before reading the description, and which point I got even more confused.
After not being able to find the cache last night, I returned today, but even with more daylight left, it was hard to find as it was overgrown with grass. I can see how this used to be a nice one as the original action still works one way, but as it is right now it's not really that good anymore. TFTC!
Found as a part of a previous group TanjackMüley, aka WanderingSparrow. Now I'm continuing on my own. TFTC
Very cool geocache. Found immediately as we approached the GZ. The log was a little old, damp and torn. There was an old broken pen inside the geocache that made it hard to extract the log, a pen was broken and not working any more so we have taken it to bin. Thank you for the cache.
Quick find. This cache is no longer at the height specified! Still kinda works. Replaced as found. Would be great if it could be restored to its former glory.
We parked up in the domain and walked to this one
On our return trip we saw about 5 Royal spoon bills in the water
A FP but We are away in our campervan just cruising the manawatu to Waiarapa then on to Hawkes Bay and return. During our tour we enjoyed travelling the quiet roads away from the main state highways. we enjoyed the bike trails around the Napier to Clifton and the inland trails up to Hastings and beyond, many of these trails of course were extra special because they had geocaches placed along them. Many thanks to all those who look after the caches. We hope you enjoy the same when you come into our area.
Sorry about the cut and paste if you have more than one geocache that we had found it needs to be erected again

In the area for a wedding so we couldn't resist a bit of caching! This one intrigued us and even the wet grass on a cool morning didn't put us off. The vertical is now very horizontal but it still works. Returned to position for the next visitor. Tftc
It took some time but finally bingo. Odehnal jsem 5 švábů!! TFTC. Czech geocaching
I found something- unsure if it's the right something however. At GZ was an ancient looking cache which contained a soaked log, a hair clip, 10 cents and a marble. It was just lying on the ground and didn't have any of the amazing mechanics mentioned in the description and activity logs. Think it might be an old cache? Unsure. Anyway, TFTC!
