Found with Grogmonster58 whe we went for a ride to loose some xmas exccess bagage. The Fernleigh Track is a excellant asset to the Newcastle area and i am looking forward to grabing some more Caches along the track next time we come down.

Nice long walk to this one, lovely bit of bush, birds singing happily, quick find.TFTC
Dolldoll and I parked on Redhead rd and made our way west along on old blocked rd firstly, this turned into a narrow goat track and then a washed out descending gully. At the bottom we were quite close to the Fernleigh Track but the trail turned away, deceiving us a little, and was very steep and slippery going on this long detour to the track. Eventually it turned back toward GZ and the cache was signed quite quickly. It's here poor dolldoll spat her dummy refusing to go back the way we came - it was so hot and difficult. Some logic and reasoning convinced her it would be the shortest way out, and so we started back. On our way I spotted another trail, it looked like a shorter route, and it was thank god, she was quite pleased at this point, knowing the A/C in the car was now just minutes away lol Thanks for a great adventure once again, and the Billiards are always beautiful, poor dolldoll, doesn't even remember them sigh

I came across numerous candidated for the title of 'Singing Rest' but eventually after searching at each, a quick find was made at the last candidate. Unfortunately, Geocaching without a GPS is quite hard in the bush, or on the Fearnleight Track.
Anyway, thanks for the cache Wobblys.

Not too many muggles about so was able to grab the cache easily and sign log. Thanks Wobblys.
The singing reference is quite apt. However Backtrack & I rode right past this one on the down hill leg & had to ride back up 1 1/4 k at the steepest part of Fernleigh track , so we were glad to tick it off the list. TFTC
We passed this one by heading north on the track as there were a large group taking a break there. Found on the return ride and SL to the serenade of bellbirds. A not difficult, but well concealed hide. TFTC
Rollerblade caching from Fernleigh Tunnel to Belmont (one way, had to call Mrs Grub fred from Redhead on the way back, uphill, against the wind, no way!), TFTC Wobblys!!
I think the track i took to this cache was the wrong one...It was muddy ,very worn and very steep in places so it took some effort to get to GZ. Once at GZ i found the cache without any problems but then made the trek back to the car along the same track. Only problem was i must of took a wrong turn somewhere cause when i got back to the road my car was nowhere to be seen. Ended up having to hike it along the road to find my car. Main thing was i found the cache .

Quick and easy for the last person did not hide to well. Thanks a heap looking forward to my next cache
We parked on Oakdale Road and took a nice stroll to GZ. On our approach the batteries died in the gps and our spare ones were already dead (something we should have checked before leaving the house!). We fanned out on the wrong side of the track using the clue. We resorted to the iPhones but the accuracy was around 76m so they were no help. We decided to check the other side of the track and sure enough the cache was in the first place we looked! The bell birds were in fine song all the while. Tftc.
Long time since I'd been here put it this way last time I was hitching a ride on the end of a train (kids will be kids) anyway tftc
Our 4936th overall find.
I don't think that I found the right way to this one but I got there in the end... I initially parked on Oakdale road and was going to walk down the track from there until I spotted the no stopping signs so I spotted a small road on my GPS on Redhead Rd. Off I went and found a sort of entrance and wandered into what looked like an old storage yard. It was only a 400 walk down to the track through some very wet grass. Once at the track a short walk to the GZ and a nice quick find. I had to wait for a mother and kids to pass before replacing it and had a chuckle as the daughter asked if her sister was OK in the trailer, to which mum replied, 'she is fine, it is mummy who is dragging her up the hill'
Thanks to TheWobblys for the cache.

Reperio at 1700. Finished work and decided I was in the mood for a walk, so headed off towards this one. What a beautiful trail...Plenty of muggles out cycling and enjoying the trail. Arrived at GZ and soon spotted the cache's location. Will definitely return sometime to ride the trail.

Great spot, every time I go to one of these places I see why my council rates are so expensive. This is the best road in Newcastle and no one is using it . TFTC.
Can't think straight with all the Bell birds belling nice spot to log a cache
Thanks wobblys TNLNSL

Went for a ride to find 5 along/around the fernleigh track. only managed to find two as result of lots of muggles around.
Once I got down to the track it was a quick 5min walk to GZ. Found in the 3rd place I looked. No bell birds out tonight although there were certainly a lot of frogs singing.
Found it!!
Enchanting spot, however grabbing and replacing the cache without drawing the attention of the many muggles on bikes was the greatest challenge.

A lovely shady spot. Found cache and just sat and listened - yes, LOTS of bird life. LOTS of passing muggles too. Nice spot, Thanks.
This is kinda freaky.... find entrance, decent walk, no sound. Hit GZ - Crazy Numbers of Bellbirds everywhere! ... leave GZ, all silent again. Weird! Great Aurel Cache Cheers from Sydney

It took a while to walk from the main road to GZ along the bike track, but we found a shortcut going back which we'd missed on the way in. The track was quite busy considering the time of day, but a long gap in traffic allowed us to quickly find the cache. We could not resist the brilliant GeoCoin but LN. Thanks for the hide in a great place full of bellbirds. We really have to bring our bikes next time!
Took us a while to find a way onto this fantastic cycletrack, but we got there in the end.
The GPSr was a little scratchy, but we found it soon enough, Thanks

Today was a bit of a struggle with our caching - our GPS has packed it in and we have had to rely on our car navigator! We parked in Oakdale Road and found a way down onto the Fernleigh Track. We had a bit of a walk along the track but a very pleasant walk. After a short search Marco found the cache. Dropped off the Basel-Stadt GC, took nothing and signed log. TFTC
Took a 10 minute break here listening to the birds before 2 motorbikes turned up destroying the tranquility. Grabbed the cache after they left and hit the trail. TNLNSL. TFTC TheWobblys. [359]
We walked into this one from Oakdale road and then at gz took a seat and listened to the Blue birds as we signed the log.

It is good to see they have extended the track to Redhead, and made such a good job of it. TFTC
Thanks for the cache.
The GPS tried to take us the wrong way but eventually we found it.

Well I cheated and copied the cashman's entry but the family was tired and hot so I made a run for it.
Wow I still needed to run 550 meters and dodge fast moving bicycles.. lol Nearly got hit a few times.
Thanks Wobblys for another great cache.
MADSTARS
Went down here today with Mini Cash Man.
We cheated and parked on Oakdale Road rather then walk from either end.
A great walk along the old track. The GPS wanted to take me away from the cache.
After a phone call it was an easy find directly opposite the rest (or seat).
Good to see TheWobblys have put up a fence to keep the muggles out.
When I was a kid I went to school at the Adamstown end of the line.
Some of the kids would jump on the coal carriages and ride them back to Belmont and jump off.
Thanks Wobbly Family

certainly singing in the background here
when you first arrive the bell birds are quiet
and then when they realise that you are not a threat
they start to sing

The track was still open from Oakdale road down to this cache so I took a nice stroll down the track found the cache quickly for a *FTF* then strolled back up the hill. This is a nice part of the track to walk along.
Thanks Wobblys.
Thanks Wobblys.
Thought I might have got a FTF on this one, but once I got there noticed that gd had beat me to it by just over an hour! Things sure get found quick around here!
Forgot to add, I parked on Oakdale rd as well... although when leaving I realised I was parked in a no stopping zone.

Parked in Oakdale road near the overpass and found the long way down onto the cycleway. From there it was a nice easy walk to gz. I was staggered at the amount of cycle traffic this fine evening around 6pm - thankfully I was able to take a seat at gz and stare right at the cache location which made retrieval nice and quick.
