Another lovely drive and very short stroll to find this one. What better way to spend our Sunday Morning. Thanks Team Crackers
Out in the area training CrackerGirl in a bit of 4WD and took the opportunity to do some cache maintenance as well. Cache container and contents still in good condition awaiting next finder.
Due to unforeseen circumstances Mr Smokey Bear will no longer be a part of Team Smokey Bear and will continue his adventures as "SmokeyBearOG".
So I'm relogging all previous finds under my new account.
Unfortunately this log will not show the original logging date.
**Thanks to Team Crackers for this adventure, looking forward to many more.**

Judging by how easy these all are definitely think well that was rough is missing, signed log and returned
well, alright
just one more
we feel like we have been walking all day
lacking four-wheel-drive tyres on our little hatchback, we have been tackling these treasures with hiking boots and sweat
it has been quite a workout
we could imagine the dawdle this would be if petrol-powered
but we have taken most of the day and we are far from finished
but the primary target for the day is just up the trail so we were always destined to extend the trip here
even though the legs are tired and the dogs are barking
push on, push on

Holey moley how do these 4WD's do it?...Iets just say I was riding the brakes all the way down these steep sections my poles I was using to stop me from slipping, falling, stumbling etc etc. But I was enjoying the walk, even with the insane track so I didn't mind. 10 points for the hint. Cache located and log book signed. 2 years of unlove, hard to understand way. These caches need to be visited.
Covid-19 restrictions are now off and geocaching is on again so time to enable again.
Due to the new Covid 19 restrictions Geo Caching is not a reason to be out so we are disabling our caches untill safe to enable again.
Please stay home and be Safe.

On a walk with ChipnPutt past the caves and round the hills. A proper cache, thanks
Great afternoon walk with the kids and just happened to check if any cache's around and we were near this one. No pen though wrote it in with a stick. TFTC.
Happy new year.
Happy new year.
We have been told this area is still out of bounds.
We will check it as soon as we can get in.

Over the years, geocaching has taken me on many adventures, including interesting destinations all over my home continent of Australia and many overseas as well. It has also introduced me to a diverse group of like-minded caching tragics, many of whom I now call close friends.
Today, I was lucky enough to be out and about searching for caches, something I do on almost a daily basis. This was one cache that was targeted and found.
Sorry for the late and generic log, something I am notorious for. Thank you Team Crackersfor adding to the adventure that is geocaching.

Found with Geoturtle37, The Tritonz, beckNmonts and micaparamedic. We had been eyeing off these caches for some time, so when we received an invite to join a small but intrepid band for the day we were all over it. The CO was set to join us as well, but a postponement due to rain unfortunately threw a spanner in that plan. The rain stayed away this time around and a great time was had by all rumbling around the Bunyip area. We tackled all but one track in our vehicles, that one was deemed too risky by unanimous vote. There was a bit of slipping here and there, but only one winch recovery required and everyone stayed shiny side up so that is just part of the fun. Thanks Team Crackers for bringing us out here for a great day out. We look forward to hitting the trail and sharing a cold one over a tall tale down the track somewhere.
We had spotted these series quite some time ago but didn't feel that we had enough experience to attempt them on our own. So when we got an invite to join in with others, we were very pleased. Unfortunately, due to the weather, it was called off.
Then we were told that another date had been set so it was on again. We had been watching the weather, and although it didn't seem to bad, we weren't sure if it would be called off again. It wasn't, YAY. We met up with two other vehicles at a fuel stop, struggled our way through Friday afternoon traffic and road words and were soon on the road to adventure. It was a shame that the 4th vehicle couldn't make it (but I'm sure the CO has done these tracks more than once.)
There were some awesome views and great tracks. There was only one that was undriveable, (in everyone's opinion) although an alternate route was chosen for another cache. Considering that there had apparently been rain only a couple of days earlier, we were lucky with the tracks. We only found one of them to be a little slippery but no worries.
A winch was needed in one place but nothing major and no damage or harm done so really doesn't count.
I had a fantastic afternoon out so a huge thank you to our awesome travelling companions for the invite and another huge thanks to the CO's for placing these caches.
Really hope that we can get out to do some more.

In the company of beckNmonts, micaparamedic, Geoturtle37 and Papi4506 in 3 capable 4WD's we finally knocked off these 2 4x4 series with little mishap. Mr. Weatherman had predicted much rain but beckNmonts convinced us that he was wrong as all previous days predictions had failed to produce said 50mm of rain that was supposed to hit Melbourne in a big way. Taking her word for it and lets face it, not wanting to have to cancel once again, we met up at a local servo and then made our way in convoy to enjoy a wonderful adventure with great mates testing our skills in the Bunyip State Park. The small amount of rain that had been through here on the Wednesday made one track slippery in spots but we managed to avoid most of it and still claim the hides. Good hints made for easy finds and our team names were all added to the logbooks held captive in their ammo can prisons.
We actually found this one the hardest to access, so a little foot power was used to gain access to the cache after a small recovery was needed for one of our vehicles. Just added to the fun and adventure of the day
Thanks very much Team Crackers for the effort put into both series, for us and others to enjoy.

With rain forecast I was concerned that we would again, have to postpone our quest of these caches. However, I managed to convince people that there was not as much rain this way as the news was making out. So we met at the agreed time, minus just one of the parties... the co, of course! (I’m pretty sure they will know they were missing prior to reading my log). We managed to find all the caches, and didn’t have any car mishaps. A slight winching incident, but where there is no damage done, there is no issue, IMO! Thanks so much for placing this series Team Crackers, I had a great time finding the caches today.
Timber had most certainly been salvaged which gave us some fabulous views.dad and boy were a little tired by now but still needed to grab third and fourth caches, so we pressed on.
We are walkers rather than 4WD’ers, not sure how you could get a car through this area. The trail bikes we saw seemed to have the right idea - bump bump slide and away you go.
Strange discovery on this track was half an L plate - don’t think I’d Let our learner driver onto these tracks! Tftc

Well this morning started off well, Out with The HOUND wanting a few smilies and a decent hike.....
Well STUFF ME !! If you plan on hiking these caches then please be ready. This was a little easier without a pack bit this track is crazy.
Need me a mate with a real 4WD .... SKOOBY ?
Anyway another good spot and still a wonderfull track.

I had been looking at this series for a long time wondering whose 4wd vehicle I could borrow, or if I should just hike it. With my wife off on a long run, I had some time to hike it. Knowing Toolman was training for a long hike, I yelled out and he was in. Took us about 3.5 hours to hike the 11km to collect these 4 caches.
One half of the hill on the way here looks like it had been logged out. This really showed how thick the trees were in the area. At this stage still no idea how they got the trees out
Thanks for the cache Team Crackers

Too late in the day to attempt this one, we will be back for the last two, without the kiddies
#1224 - 2.55pm
Out and about with S_38 today.
We'd already delved underground and conquered a hilltop, now on our return leg we detoured here, but not to salvage any timber.
The clouds were visibly passing through the trees around us as we walked down from Hell's Gate. The morning rain had stopped but the track was now a muddy slip'n'slide down the hill. It was a quicker than planned trip down as I was frequently losing traction and forced into a hair raising run just to keep my balance. I was amazed that we both made it down without either of us suffering a muddy faceplant! Along the way, S_38 pointed out some fresh deer tracks that had been left deep in the mud.
We pushed on to GZ where S_38 discovered the cache with minimal fuss. Another cool container in perfect condition.
Thanks so much, Team Crackers, for helping make this a fantastic day out in Labertouche.

In the area, had to come back past. One more for the day. One more out of the way. Have driven by here a few times in the 4wd. Nice easy find in good condition.
Thanks TC

Woohoo, my 3rd for today!
Out for a solo ride on my dirt bike, thanks for bringing me here! Stupidly I didn't bring a pen so I couldn't sign the log.
Easy find just off the track, GPS playing funny buggers today with low clouds.

Today tackled the 4x4 series 1 & 2 and enjoyed the journey to this cache. With the next one in the series we looked at the HILL and said to one another, no way the Geo Jero will conquer this, so Mr "T" made the remaining 500m walk down the hill to make a quick find at GZ. Cache and contents are in good condition.
Thanks for placing and maintaining this cache for our enjoyment.
Thanks for placing and maintaining this cache for our enjoyment.
With time running out for the day I attempted one final hike to get to the final 4 4x4-2 caches. As it turned out I had to leave Hell's Gate for another day, but visited the 3 closest to Forest Rd. Now that evening was approaching I finally saw fellow humans for the first time all day, namely in 4WDs, so things became a bit less fun from a pedestrian's point of view. The track conditions between That Was A Bit Rough and Timber Salvage were mostly a bit less punishing than I'd seen on the other side of the hill, but there were some further fairly tricky bits. At GZ, the well-concealed cache was found fairly swiftly with help from the hint. At this point I finally turned around and retraced my steps back to Forest Rd. Thanks Team Crackers! This shall prove to be a memorable series, I suspect.
Found 1:05:00 PM, whilst out with Muzza on our December caching expedition, to Bunyip State forest. A 4WD expedition this time, so the Wrangler could do what it does best
TNLN, thanks Team Crackers (F=17447 H=129).
TNLN, thanks Team Crackers (F=17447 H=129).
Out and about with Biggles Bear #1 in the 4WD, we decided to take advantage of its capabilities and headed for the Bunyip State Forest to do both 4x4 series there. On advice from the CO, we attempted the second series first, then the first series in reverse order, although things didn't go as planned. This was the last of this series for us, rather than the third. Found without too much trouble. Thanks to Team Crackers for the cache.
Yippee it's an ammo tin , spotted you at 3 am and noticed over 12 months since last log , so I had to put the Muddies on this morning and have a crack , track was very muddy and it was raining as well
Thanx Team Crackers for this great hide

This cache was the next on the list of caches for To-Day After parking we made our way to the cache well where it was spose to be some 10 Meters away for where our GPSr's were saying where we found the cache after there was about four of us looking including the CO's Which one of them said it would be an embarisment if the CO had to make a PAF on his own cache but we did find it in the end,
Whith the cache found log signed & some new coords recorded it was time to find the next one.

I dont know how you could salvage much in here with all these young sapplings, Thanks for great caches we are having a great day out.
Steeeep descent!!! Wal's engine was not happy during this descent, she was puffing and blowing a bit. Great fun though! A bit like a big dipper ride! Is that a gstring on our aerial, where did that come from?! Cache found, signed and returned!
Out for a bit of fun geocaching with Earthbound Chief and Co. We decided to head towards Bunyip State Forest and a bit of 4x4 excitement. After a bite to eat at the nearby picnic grounds it was back to the serious stuff!! WOW was that a good bit of driving. Cache was easily located and we were soon back on the track. TFTC
In the company of in the company of Team Crackers, Maccamob, Rebel Acts, Rabbitto, pprass and Alansee we continued our way along tracks to this cache.
It seems the regrowth after the fires has helped the area and so much has changed compared to the photos. The cache was found by Pprass and once replaced we set off for more adventures in the wild.
Our thanks to Team Crackers for the cache, thankfully the transmission settled down and we continued on in AWD.

Found in the company of Alansee, maccamob, Mr. Coffee, Rabbitto, Pprass and Team Crackers, on a little 4WD adventure. The dozer sure made life easier. Thanks Spook for the cache and driving us around.
Found by Mary & David, in company with Team Crackers, Alansee, Rebel Acts, pprass, Rabbitto and The Coffees, at 0950. Once more, the regrowth has meant that the cache is now surrounded by bush even though it is close to the track. The descent from the previous cache was quite steep, but the track surface was firm. Wouldn't want to try that one in the wet! Our thanks to Team Crackers.
Out for a days caching and some cache maintenance with Alansee, Maccamob, Pprass, Rabbitto, Rebel Acts and The Coffees. After they had found the cache we declared it safe and sound and right where it should have been.
We found this cache today at 9:50am as the 4th of 18 on our 4x4-2 Bunyip Tour in company of Pprass, Maccamob, Team Crackers, The Coffee Clan, Alansee and Rebel Acts. Crackers, showing the way, took the wrong route (quickly rectified) on the way to this one as the regrowth in the area had changed the look of the area immensely since their last run through this area. Pprass lobbed through for the find and some great views from this spot. Thanks from D & HA B-A.
Found at 9:52 AM GAFF1 in the company of Alansee, maccamob, Mr. Coffee, Rabbitto, Rebel Acts and Team Crackers.
We changed vehicle positions when Crackers went the wrong way, so we suddenly had a chance to get to GZ first and find the cache first. There is a lot of regrowth around and we hardly recognise the area since we were last here in 2008.
Thanks Team Crackers.

Done today in the company of Team Crackers, Maccamob, Rebel Acts, Rabbitto, pprass, and Mr Coffee. I had been hearing all these tales about how hard this trip was - and realising that it had been a total put-up job!
I will admit though - these tracks are steep! Glad that I did not decide to ever walk them.

Out on a motorbike ride for the first time in 18 months. Did this series in reverse since we were coming from the other direction and also heading back to where we parked the car and trailer.
This was a nice easy find with no one around. I didn't think we'd have any trouble with muggles up here but it is Good Friday!
TFTC and my brother for stopping his motorbike ride to look for strange little boxes in the bush.

Found @ 8:58am, find # 1993.
Today was planned that we would do a bit of motorbike riding, so I made sure that finding the rest of the caches in this series was also on the too-do list.
After finding the previous cache we continued along the track a bit further until we reached this one.
After a short walk into the bush, the cache was found and the log signed.
Now on to the next one.
Thanks to Team Crackers for this cache and all the caching fun.

found this one after a shortish search through the bush lucky for me i had some males with me as the cache was well and truely stuck in between the rocks and had to get them to do some landscaping left the cache a little bit more accessable so no need for heavy lifting but still at same spot some swaps made tftc
An extraordinary landscape of great violence interdicted by recovering (from bushfire) regrowth. An eerie landscape in many ways, more so as it was veiled by low, grey cloud at the time of our early evening visit. We probably approached GZ the more robust 4 WD way (all the more enjoyable in the right vehicle). It was super quiet, nary a sound except an almost soulful zephyr lingering up from the south on its way to somewhere else more colourful. Cache (nice and snug and dry) was readily to hand where the caching notes explained it would be and the GPSr confirmed. TNLN. Thank you to 'Team Crackers' for the Cache and its location of contrasts. Be mindful that there may be 'road closures' depending on logging activity (though as we arrived late in the day we had no hinderance with access).
Found with The Quiet Plodder. Thanks to Team Crackers for the great series of caches.
The second find for me and 3up in this series. It was a nice quick transit from Hells Gate. Thanks Team Crackers.
Find # 1560 @ 15:00 with jaffnut
Next on the list from Hells Gate was this one and we soon had it in hand. Great scenery from the denuded hills. TNLNSL. Had to keep low looking for this one as a couple of other 4 wheelers were consulting their maps at the bottom track junction. TNLNSL Thanks for the cache Team_Crackers!

Found at 1345 hours, this was the Quickest find out of the three caches so far.
45 minutes from car to the First (last)
70 minutes to find the fourth cache.
25 minutes to find the third cache.
But the views from the fourth cache to the third cache were magnificent.
What more can you ask for, I know I did this the hard way.
But come on what the point of driving to these caches?
You miss all the scenery because your to busy concentrating on the track.
Beside I was looking after the environment by walking.
No pollution, when you walk, exhaust fumes are bad for the environment.
Besides I was enjoying myself and that's what Geocaching is all about. ENJOYMENT.
I know I can't fool everyone but they were here and I just had to find them.
Other wise they would be still here and I would still have to find them.
Also this was part of my epic adventure and it wasn't going to end.
Until I got to the final cache in this series.
So back to the cache.
TNLN SL so that's makes three finds out of five.
Just remember the three finds so far are STFs.
I still think they should up the Terrain/Difficulty Ratings To 10 if you walk in.
That's my opinion only.
So at this stage I had only walked 6.97 kms.
[red]Please Note this log has taken me longer to write than getting here from the last cache.
[blue]So thanks Team Crackers for the last three caches and the series so far.
