Logs
Windy and chilly night bike ride, passed through the bridge and remembered i had a DNF here and tried my luck again. Used the spoiler pic tftc
TFTC:). Was initially quite geoblind upon arrival at GZ. After taking a few photos of the view for a bit, I started thinking about where it possibly could be. After a few other possibilities did not lead anywhere, I eventually spotted an option and soon the find was made. Only after the fact did I notice the spoiler pic . Was a fun search and adventure.C.C
Had a caching day with Jascat. Took our bikes on the train and headed north to Newport. From there we made our way to the Newport Lakes Reserve, then to the foreshore. The spoiler pic was very helpful. The log is soaking wet. TFTC
*12 Oct 2024, Found @4:40PM, Find # 3957.*A nice day to take the bike on the train and head across to the otherside of the city. Im not sure I wouldve found this one if it wasnt for the spoiler pic. I searched on both sides. **Thanks to tackle_head for placing this cache.**
Checked the GC.It is there in place and ready to be found. No maintenance required
Fun fact. Where the sand gets dark? That's not sand, that's quicksand. Step onto it and you'll be instantly up to your knees in disgusting black smelly sludge. Will come back when clean.
Log book was a bit wet, but still avenged another DNF. The sand was flooded under the bridge, but it looked quite nice.TFTC
A day out hunting with teen assistant. A slow start to our day, it took a while until we found the prize. TFTC
Unfortunately my phone was being repaired and just logging these now which I did with Rex46 (his is the true date of logging)
With dot558 had to do one more to keep my average of 100 /month upIt's been a good day with only two I couldn't do
This one took me a little longer than it aught to but its a great spot to hang out so no worries. Yesterday afternoon i realized that i had a clear day where i could sneak off for a cache or two today. I wasnt feeling a long day in the car so decided to head to Melb on the train. After starting the day at an event and cito in Newmarket i headed for Seaholme and Altona to find caches along the shore. The worst thing about living inland is that i miss the sea so this jaunt will satisfy at least two desires. If i finish the caches along here then i will take the train and get off at various stations to get some nearby ones until i head home. Bring Ya Rod # 3 - Altona Boat Ramp is find number 3,755 for me. A fun micro sized traditional cache I enjoyed finding as one of my caching adventures in Hobsons Bay City. I am logging this one on Tuesday 27 Aug 2024 at 3:09 pm and the weather is Overcast Clouds 20C 52% 10 m/s . Thanks for placing this cache for the rest of us to enjoy tackle_head.*Found with [Geooh GO](https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mobiltal.geoohGO)*
I'm getting to old for this, my back and knees got a real workout my elbows too. A great hide, nobody took any notice of me hunting for this one. A fave from me.Greytiger
Checked the GC.It is there in place and ready to be found. See spoiler photo attached.
Thankfully, there weren't many muggles around while here, so the cache was found fairly quickly. All in good condition. TFTC
This one was well hidden but I was pretty sure what I was looking for. Lots of cars but few muggles, must all be out enjoying the weather on the water. Wet log but signable, tftc
Needing a walk coupled with the weather being decidedly autumnal meant that the Altona esplanade would be a perfect place to gain some exercise whilst finding caches with few muggles about making the finding much, much easier than compared to spring or summer. All caches bar one (there's always one) were found with much in the way of difficulty. I even turned a couple blue faces into yellow smileys. Many thanks to tackle_head for putting these out and almost as importantly diligently maintaining/replacing them as the need arises.I'm glad that Altona counts the CO as one of its residents otherwise I might not have reason to walk along its esplanade and areas which are being rehabilitated by its council/residents.My logs will include this standard blurb and then a comment or two about each cache separated from this blurb by a dividing line. ---I DNF'd this one back in June 2022 and was in danger of doing so yet again until I decided to use a TOTT. Ah, there it is; now how to get it? A bit of contortion and I finally had this elusive cache in hand. Quite satisfying after crouching and eyeballing various structures on both sides.
Stretch stretch is all I can say!! Out on trusty treadles AKA the MTB for a taste of sea salt and a dose of ozone on this rather lovely autumn day. Arrived in Melbs earlier from home base which is at higher altitudes for the convivial Vic Awards nominations EVENT. Always seeking nature where it can be found in the burbs and am impressed with the parks and gardens and trails and seeing so many people out enjoying the fresh air. TFTC and the FUN.
Found during the Victorian COTY Awards nomination event. tackle_head, thank you so much for placing it for everyone to enjoy and highlighting this area.
We had a couple of looks on both passes but the cache eluded us today. Thanks anyway tackle_head
was confused at where it could possibly be, and then i saw one spot i hadnt looked yet and found it, TFTC
In the past I've been all over this blue bridge, underneath (despite the cache notes) - pretty much like Johnny Cash sang, "… I've been everywhere, man". It made me feel blue at the time... but since I didn't feel or find blue, the only blue to be seen was the frowning DNF icon.
Many fails in the past, but today it was a simple quick find. How does that work ?! I just went straight to where the GPSr was pointing, followed the hint, and picked up the cache. Clearly it makes a difference how someone places it back in its hiding spot.
Very strong winds around the bay today, yet some fishermen go out regardless. Just like geocachers (on a streak), I suppose - you have to go out regardless.
Thanks, tackle_head - I'm glad this one won't be tormenting me any longer when I walk or cycle across this bridge.
*****
Still continuing daily finds during the current Wheel-of-Challenges Streak Star souvenir campaign - now on day 32 of 35.

Nice quick easy find even the blues were playing at the pokies at the sports club
Out for a day of catching up and caching up with AndyB84. A beautiful day for it, sunshine and water views. A lot of people out and about today.
A few minutes to find this one but got there eventually.
Thanks

Back in Melbourne
Rain sun wind and plans changed a million times..
But as the saying goes foul me once shame on me, foul me twice shame on you, foul me a million times - it’s the bureau of meteorology!
So discarding the notion it may rain, spiffy- and I set off on a spur of the moment scooter caching trip out west.
There's a grand flock of seagulls and people fishing in boats nearby.
No rod for me - just a trusty pen and wishing I had a warm puffer jacket but hopefully the thrill of the find will keep me warm a little longer.
thanks for the placement tackle_head and story information

*The "Second February Bike Crawl in South West Melbourne" Adventure #16*
Port Phillip and its attendant creeks and estuaries aren't the sweetest smelling things around, but this area was next level. SueHut lodged an olfactory complaint, and I had to explain that there was a sizable proportion of fishermen who don't exactly look after their playground... or each other... or in fact themselves. It's a full-blown mystery why the people who use the bay for fun, food and profit don't actually look after the bay.
Thanks heaps for the cache, Tackle Head!

Sneaky hide and couldn’t reach it myself so Wespro got the cache out. Temperature is starting to pack a punch when you are in direct sunshine
Came here, couldn’t find it - just wasn’t feeling it. Came in from the right angle and then I could make the retrieval. Signed and back in position. Fairly busy today with a lot of dinghies out in the water.
We found it we found it! This one has been teasing us for a bit, but found before the rain/hail hit. TFTC
Tried again but no luck. Rain dragged us away today but we will be back.
Out with echidna44. We made this one harder than it actually was. Very clever little hiding spot. Thanks tackle_head.
Out with pinnacle333, we had a very long but enjoyable day caching in the Altona area.
Very simple hide when you know
Took us a little while though. Thanks tackle_head.

No luck . Spent ages here and couldn’t find it. Plus too many muggles around . Might need a second pair of eyes next time
A nice easy find. Beautiful day for caching. Thanks for this trail today! TFTC TAD

We had a thorough look and am not sure the cache is still there - we heeded the advice and didn't crawl under the structure but seems no-one has found it since February. Such a great area though- wowee! Thanks for bringing us here
Headed out with Mudbrick this sunny winter's morning to find some of the local caches.
Another year, another DNF at this GZ.
I've lost track of how many times I have searched for this one. Even a previous finder was unable to locate this one today.
Maybe one day I'll get a smilie here.

This might be worth a check. My first look had me keep an open mind given the COs nifty ability to camo caches. After a loop of the open space to the east I had another look, this time reading the cache page a little more attentively. I did not see a 200 ml sistema at GZ. Whilst logging in front of the PC I've read the cache page again and noted there was no need to crawl under the structure. If that's the case then I'm willing to log a DNF.
Busy at the boat ramp and didn't have enough time to properly look. I'll be back!
Sorry thought I'd already updated these logs.
Was up to to 995 caches and wanted to hit my thousand mark, so headed out to Altona Beach and went for a bit of a wander with the wife.
had a nice walk around the old Altona Race circuit and found the 5 caches I need to make it to a thousand.
Also had two Did Not finds but I'm sure I'll get them next time.
Then had a nice walk along the dog beach and along the waterfront around Seaholme.
Thanks for the cache and the hide

Found 1! Wanted to look for another as cachers saying there is two but bucketing down rain so shall return another time to see!
Quick find at GZ. Finders beware, there’s a lot of broken glass near this cache. TFTC!
Sorry for the late log and a generic log. A combination of some heath issues making me not able to look at the computer for any length of time and a mishap with my phone that has caused me to lose my list of saved caches.
Found on a trip out with AusFox;
Thank you for the hide

trying to get as many smiles as possible today....but blimey this area was soooooooooo smelly think the find took longer for this reason tftc
Holey moley this place stunk today!!! Bile came up a couple of times when the wind changed a little bit while we walked across from where we parked. Cute cache!! Not quite what we were looking for but sometimes things aren’t. Tftc
Annoying Tarbit and I arranged an afternoon of caching and ended up around Williamstown. I have not cached much this side of the West Gate Bridge, so AT suggested the destinations for us to visit. It was nice to see people out and enjoying the weather.
This was the last cache of the day and good to finish on a high rather than a DNF close by. I found something that looked like it might be a cache, and on closer inspection it did indeed have a log book. It wasn't what we were expecting and not quite where we were expecting either. TFTC tackle head

With lockdown it had been a long time since I had a caching day out with Lost_and_found_79. This was a Sunday trip over to the inner western suburbs to try out a few caches that we hadn't been to before. First on our list was Newport Lakes Reserve and then a few more nearer to the bay. This was our final stop for the day and after a nearby DNF we didn't want to finish on a low note. We headed to this one and L&F79 quickly spotted the cache. Not what we were expecting but we penned our names in the log and replaced it out of sight. Took nothing, left nothing, signed log and visited some trackables. Thanks for the cache tackle_head.
Well hidden sneaky cache. Took us a while to find and once we had to hold it for a minute before replacing it while we waited for muggles to leave.
