Find #2276
I'm always on the lookout for archived caches that might still be able to be found and this cache was on my list. After success at another Team Oaky cache, "Black Ops, Jungle Recon", I drove to this reserve firstly to attempt to find the final of a series and also attempt this cache.
I like a bold hide and the first waypoint of this multi was certainly bold, but found without any trouble. I thought I had hit a snag at the next however because what seemed to be the most obvious hiding spot yielded nothing. I resorted to the hint and found that there were hints for the waypoints in addition to GZ. Comforted by the hint, I persevered in searching where I thought the container should be and found it well and truly buried by dirt and rotted wood.
From there it was a short walk to GZ which I found without any trouble. I think it's quite telling that even though this multi has been archived for more than two years, it is still in better condition than many current ones. Suitable containers placed in optimal locations are the hallmarks of a quality cache and are a lesson for budding CO's.

Got a call from Making Tracks while I was at the In-Laws. He was heading out to get a few caches I already had, but had seen a link to this archived multi and thought I might want to come along. The In-laws just shook their heads when I said I was leaving to go for a bush walk, it was after all, raining, and far from a nice day.
Headed home and got DancingGeoBoy and met Making tracks in the car park, he had done 2 of the other caches in this reserve before we got there so it was this multi and another traditional I had already found on our to do list.
Found WP1 without issue and headed off with new co-ords for WP2.
WP2 was where things got difficult. The GPS was pretty adamant about where the cache should be, and checking the clue confirmed that we were on the right spot. Not only did we pull out the plug, we pulled out the entire core of that thing(over 1 meter long). We dug, we scraped, we looked under things, considered sending DancingGeoBoy crawling in completely and had we had an axe we'd have split that sucker right down the middle trying to find the cache. After about 15 minutes we were about ready to call it quits and wondered how it could have been muggled since Shogun found it in Jan. I was standing next to a tree stump and started mindlessly poking it with a small stick when I hit plastic!! Yep, it was the cache, stuffed in the top of a tree stump about 2-3 meters from where it should have been. After getting the co-ords for GZ we placed the cache back WHERE IT SHOULD BE, and headed of to find the final.
GZ was a nice easy find, and after WP2, that was most welcome.
This cache should be re-Activated!!!
This is a nice easy multi (when things are where they should be), with no bush bashing and good tracks. It's a perfect Multi for children, and with Smaug's Sanctum and Enchanted Forest in the same reserve, this is a great place to do some caching with the kids. There is also One Tree Fern Gully which requires a bit of bush bashing for a little more adventure, without being too over the top for kids.
DancingGeoBoy took the Hogwarts Plate thing and MakingTracks left a Koala.

Found today with Xencia and his Geoson, and it was a lucky find at that because waypoint two was not in said 'fallen log', after much searching and scrambling around on knees and then searching further off track and other 'obvious spots' we went back to the spot that in our minds was supposed to be the hiding spot, things looked placed by humans including a flat rock and other 'placed items'..much scratching of heads..Xencia started absent mindedly flicking leaves and dirt from an upright stump as we were talking about our next move and then his jaw dropped and then he smailed and then he said 'look at this'...TA-DAAAAA...waypoint two had been moved!..Xencia's awesome levels just went up a notch, and on to GZ we were able to go, cache was in hand very quickly..I placed a couple of swaps in for good measure...please bring this one back online TeamOaky as it really is a great little circuit walk and with so many new caches popping up on the peninsula I'm certain it will get the use that you wish for..TFTC
My recommendation - Re-activate this cache! It well and truly deserves to be an active listing.
Both the Geo -GF & I thoroughly enjoyed the magnificent walk from one WP to another. The scenery was peaceful and welcoming as the wallabies, Butterflies and various birdlife went about their everyday part of life.
All WP's were easily accessible and the thought process behind the execution of the hides, was well thought out.
At first GZ seemed a little tricky due to the natural camo build up provided by mother nature herself. Once I worked out the nature of the hide - it was no sooner than later in hand.
GZ could do with a bit of TLC. The build up of natural camo is beginning to rot away the seal inside the container. Contents a little damp.
In a nut shell - All WAYPOINTS still in place and good to go.
Thx TeamOaky - appreciate the cache and keeping the WP's intact.

It would appear that some one has taken a disliking to my caches #5 gone missing and counting.
I’m therefore taking this one off line until I can check on it status most likely it will be archived

A very enjoyable walk although two members of the team seemed less enthusiastic about having to go out in the mud today - but it was either that or tidy their rooms so they went for the easy option . Turned out we'd been to this reserve previously as part of another multi-cache a few years back.
All the hides were found easily enough. WP2 looked as though it may have been moved by wildlife as there were signs of digging etc which had left the cache somewhat exposed so we put it back together in line with the hint.
Thanks Oakydog for a pleasant walk and an enjoyable multi - even the GeoTeens agreed "It wasn't that bad"

Another enjoyable cache on the Peninsula. Some lovely bush, nice tracks, good coords, and good hides. Good fun and a good walk too, thanks Oakydog. Someone has been through the narrow track with a slasher of some sort.
nice place went there as a kid getting fire wood with my dad 25 or so years ago the ferns at the 3rd cache near creek looked gr8 so much green for this time of year TFTC
Nice park to walk around. The grasses have been growing fast though. I nearly lost the track at one stage.
Three nice easy hides, which was good as the GPSr was jumping around a bit.
Great day for a short walk
Thanks, Robmc.

2010-07-24 11:48 Found after One Tree Fern Gully. Like I said in that log, I should have done them the other way around. I have been here before but had not done the circuit. I really enjoyed the walk. Thanks Oakydog for bringing me here. Took GC and TB's. TFTC.
Found while out with Phetlern. Very nice stroll through the woodland. Plenty of different fungi around today. Thank you for the nature lesson. Took "tfrnch # 19 Danish Geocoin 2008".
14:45
Found while doing an afternoon of Geocaching with Squalid. We enjoyed the forest walk and the multitude of fungi that we sighted along the way. We also admired the effort put into cache concealment. Sighted the Danish Coin TB15K7C “tfrnch # 19 Danish Geocoin 2008” before it was moved on by Squalid.

29-05 2nd find of the day at 12:49 and 1054th find in total.
After a great walk and a well made multi what is the last thing you want to put your hand on when retrieving the cache?
Check out the picture, giant slug alert!
Loved the fungi on our way to GZ. White, yellow, black, green, red, orange, purple and of course brown ones.
(''\(OoO)/'') Thanks Oakydog for the caching fun!

Found at 1410 hours, enjoyed the walk through the reserve today.
The weather was perfect for the walk to the two waypoints and the final location.
I like how you have hidden all parts of the cache along the track.
This means no bush bashing or damaging off the bush.
Took GC Left TB
TFTC in a really nice area.

This was cache # 11 in my Mornington Peninsula Caching Trip. I had run into Dickson Two while doing the other cache in this reserve, and though he had already done this one, he accompanied me while I did it.
We walked and talked the whole way around the course, so much so that I wasn't paying attention when we passed GZ. All caches were found easily. I really enjoyed the walk and talk - it's such a great little area. My thanks to Oakydog for the cache and walk.

What a fantastic cache! Thanks Oakydog. Found with geokid Kidcorza, overcast, damp and drizzly, but gps worked ok, easy to find the caches, this flora and fauna reserve is beautiful. Thanks again, til next time.
Found @14:15 i had tied up a few lose ends and headed down to grab a few caches in the area that have popped up and i'm glad i did this one!
I had never visited this park before a found it to be splendid with bird life being abundent, a few crimson rosella's where spotted as i moved from waypoint to wpt.
Thanks for the cache Oakeydog!

A morning into the early afternoon spent crisscrossing the Peninsula in all directions rewarded us with two FTFs and this STF at 1.45 pm.. We didn't cover the ground in the most efficient way, targeting the FTF opportunties first and of course stopping for coffee and muffins. So we were more than happy to find no-one had followed saulman and co's find yesterday, even at 3.00 in the morning (dig, dig!). We discovered a TB and a geocoin and left a TB. Really enjoyed the walk in a Reserve not previously visited, Oakydog, many thanks for taking us there. Saw plenty butterflies, they seemed to be around us most of the way (fairies, Mrs thought!), heard birds but didn't see rosellas until a couple outside the Reserve when we were leaving. Had a couple of light showers and a thunder rumble but the real rain held off 'till we were on the way home.
Are you going to Australia's First Mega Event? Easter 2010 in Wagga Wagga. See GC1YJ5R and http://www.rivcache.com/ It will be amazing. Support the hard-working committee.

We saw the new cache, made phone calls to other mad cachers, threw tea onto sandwiches (Chicken schnitzel and chips - yum) geo kids dashed to car and off like a bat out of hell to grab this one, punching co-ords into the trusty GPS as we drove.
Easy caches found quickly without the additional hints, but very nice cunning caches utilizing the natural features.
Thanks Oakydog for the certificate for FTF, it will be proudly displayed on 1st Mornington’s Scout hall’s award wall.
