Spent quite some time with Coybear2000 bashing around through the spiky bushes, but no luck. We found lots of bricks and bits of concrete, many of which had angry ants beneath. We saw the chair and all the rubbish around it, but no luck. We'll have to keep an eye on this one.
This one has been on the radar for a bit so thought would have a go with Trodectus today. Searched around GZ for bit widening search area but no luck.
Well, summer has arrived, but more on that later. I feel the CO needs to give an indication whether this one is still there.......but on with the story.
I found the pile of half bricks that Celtical had mentioned previously, I widened my search and found a pothead's camp complete with a plastic chair numerous used plastic bottle bongs and as I turned to survey the scene there was a 1m Brown Snake only a metre from me!!! And me in 'Japanese working boots'!
He had not moved off with my approach and when I backed away, stooping only to pick up a bushy branch to hold between him and me he reared at me.
It's amazing how quick you can move even if in need of a hip replacement.
I did have a good search around GZ and had not found evidence of large enough natural camo to hide a small or is it medium cache. Could the CO please check.

Could the CO please check on this cache as there has only been 1 find in 10 months. Thank you
A walk down from the nearby trig. The GZ was not all that difficult to seek through and a likely hide was empty ... but now on reading the logs below I needed to open the eyes with a wider view. Will return when next this way.
Had a good look in GZ but was unable to uncover a cache.
Might return with Geo wife another day.
Might return with Geo wife another day.
Drove round to the sports fields and headed off towards GZ. This is a great spot to watch fireworks on Australia Day (I parked in behind the stage). Headed off into the bush and was immediately swooped by the noisy miners, I was more worried about making enough noise to keep any snakes away.
Thought I knew what I was looking for but there were only several half bricks. So gave them a good look and widened the search....................... aha........... buried a bit under some natural camo but that WAS more like what I was expecting.

I always worry in such places that they will lock the gates and trap me in there. However, there were a couple of other cars in the parking lot so I was not too concerned. Strangely, though, there was no sign of anyone.
When I reached GZ and looked around it suddenly occurred to me what I should be looking for and after a bit of scratching about I had CIH.
Thanks Deputy D0g.

Initially took the wrong approach on this one and it looked like I was going to have to do a bit of bush bashing to get to GZ. Fortunately, I re-evaluated my approach and found a much easier geotrail to follow. Upon reaching GZ I was immediately set upon by a flock of angry noisy miners defending their territory. As I was pretty sure what I was searching for I poked around whilst using a big stick to fend off the attackers. Eventually I spied what I was after concealed by a fair amount of natural camo. Signed log and then made a hasty retreat. TFTC!
How satisfying to find this hidden gem. First find for my 73year old father who would not go home without finding a cache.
So the overgrowth is immense, it's winter so not to scared of snakes. Took me aboit 30 minute but found it this time round... And spiders are plentiful so be aware. Don't stare at the ground and walk through a web .. Righto
Streak Day #340 - Finally came to this one to turn it into a smiley...didnt take too long to find and SL. TFTC Deputy D0g
This would be so much scarier at night but got got it quick thanks god.

Thought I'd grab one more cache in the area before heading home - so I could head out again.
And, of course, when limited for time, I'd choose something simple like a bush mic... well small.
Plenty of sport going on, but walking to GZ took me well away from their prying eyes.
I floundered around for quite a while, with the iPhone changing its mind every time I moved. I was pretty sure I knew what I was looking for, but all I turned up was a half brick.
Checked what I thought were the most likely spots, but no joy. Suddenly, while looking in a spot I'd checked at least twice before I saw it - and it WAS EXACTLY what I thought I was looking for! How embarrassing.
Completed signing duties and made my way back to the car.

Misscricklewood finds this one with devious glint in her eye, asking if cache could be an item she's pointing at hehehehe. I'm on 2% batt trying to read discription and my isolation is discussing where it could be lmao. Onya Misscricklewood
After having a look at the pic's for this one, I had another shot at it armed with a better idea of the size of cache I was looking for. Easy find this time with my Gpskyp, and Misscricklewood who takes the honours for this one

After an interesting drive up and over The Rooty Hill in the ix35 (never done that before !) we arrived near GZ and proceeded into the scrub on foot. I think I spotted this one because the area was a bit "snakey" and I was looking in the same direction the whole way in ! Found on the way home from Geotrek 2014 with gpskyp and isolation. TFTC
Snake and spider country on a hot day like today... No rocks, no logs, no tree cavity, no find
Previously I DNF'd this cache. Never thought I would ever return. Today I found it much easier. I should of realised that the name meant more. TFTC.
Getting desperate to find a cache between work and home seeing as I have pretty much cached out the area and with renewed hope that it was only found a couple of days ago, I decided to give this one another attempt. Maybe coming in from a different angle made all the difference as this I walked straight up to the cache. SL #1100 on streak day #495 TFTC
Had been wondering how I would
Get to this one so today did the sports ground and walked up to this one. Clue concerned me did I rock or did I wake up feeling a little strange. Hmmmmm

Another attempt, another DNF. I searched for 25min, checked logs, hints, but it didn't reveal itself, again
As we parked in the car park and eyed off the GZ location, I saw that a caching buddy was the last logged person but that was a DNF. Hmm, he is usually pretty good at finding caches, so I was wondering if it might have been gone...
At GZ, spotted an obvious location but nothing there. A quick check of the surrounding location turned up what my mate hadn't found... the cache container. A great camo and one that I had seen before in a different location about 700km away! Great use of the camo and happy to report that the cache is still there. Thanks DD.

My last cache for the day, and one that was strangely reminiscent of an earlier find.
The gates were open, so I managed to drive to within 130m of the cache.
Walked over & found some nasty looking spiky shrubs to battle through. I considered looking to see if there was an easier way in, but I figured it was only 40m, and as a tough Blue Mountains cacher, I should be able to cope with just following the arrow directly in. That probably wasn't a sensible decision, since I was wearing shorts . Anyway, I eventually battled my way to GZ, and sure enough, spotted what would be an easy way out.
Looked around, and looked around some more, but couldn't see the cache. I figured I knew what I was looking for (& I was right), but all of the long grass made looking hard. So I tried a TAF (that's a text a friend). The same friend I'd tried a TAF on earlier in the day and then spotted the cache before he could reply. And the exact same thing happened again! I pressed send on the text, looked down and saw the cache! I'm going to have to use this technique again!?!.
Thanks . Oh, and coordinates were spot on.

I looked around for a fair while, probably to much time but couldn't spot this one today.
It took 3 visits to crack this one + a clue from the CO (thanks Deputy) as to what I was looking for. As others have noted, co-ords are spot on and the camo is clever..... and the grass is long ..... and I didn't see any snakes, but I know they were watching me..... the drop bears too, most likely..... axe murderers even. Lucky I'm not paranoid. TFTC Deputy D0g
Found it about a week ago, just logging it. Took us a while in the heat, TFTC.
Drove past soccer fields, parked and with a short walk to cache site where I had CIH rather quickly. Would have been a different story searching after a good soaking and grass covering cache. The ants are still inside cache box but they are of the harmless type and a good blowing spread them out of the box everywhere. The second of this type I have found, can't recall the last one though. SL TFTC Deputy Dog
Find number 17 for the day, had a rest to watch our nephew play soccer, their team won yay. TFTC SL
Okay so I hunted for 45 min nada. I also made the mistake of going directly in. Needed to follow the mown grass around
Having just left Blacktown Olympic Park #2, I began my search for Rooty Hill Rocks. My GPS pointed to go down a bicycle path. All was well as I got closer and closer. Then I realized the cache was on the other side of the fence. Perhaps a little further and I might find an entrance. No. I had to walk all the way back to the road, go to Rooty Hill and make the climb. Down to the bottom, into the woods, and walk through the tall grass (not a good day here for shorts). The search produced nothing more than a bunch of trampled grass. Back up Rooty Hill and down the other side. Even with the tiring climbs, it was fun making the search. Greetings from Arizona, USA.
what a tricky little cache to find, took awhile but Ute Dog II and I finally got got down to it and got found the hide. Thanks Acko and Ute Dog II
Parked car & walked around the trees only to see that I needed to approach from the other direction. Walking back to the other side, a car pulled up. Thought maybe I should go but it turned out to be 2 police officers asking what I was doing there. Explained & 1 had actuality heard of gc. they encouraged me to go back in & said they would come back in an hr to make sure I wasn't bitten by a snake or murdered! That was reassuring. Grass very long. Opened cache full of ants who had made it their nest, so just took a photo instead of signing log. Must remember to bring gloves when caching. Coords spot on! TFTC
Pulled up in the parking lot to find an empty car. Hmm maybe someone is looking for this already? Headed to GZ and was rather surprised when a poodle greeted me, spotted the owner about 100m away from where the arrow was pointing and poodle headed back to where it came from so I preceded around the corner. Wow 4 foot high grass and bush to contend with, oh well glad I put a pair of long pants on. Once I got to GZ I got ready for a long search for a micro and had CIH in less than 1 min. Guess today is my lucky day!
I live close by and this is the first time I have been to the Rooty Hill looks like a great spot.

Found our way to GZ, but knee-high wet grass and other foliage could have hidden much larger containers and we still would have been none the wiser. Gave our search away after about 15 minutes. Our thanks anyway to Deputy D0g.
It is amazing what a bit of experience makes in funding these things first time I looked for this one had no idea this time had an idea but the 2 foot grass made the difficulty at least one star harder and the fact that it had not been found for a few months. Obvious I found it but only just TFTC
Nice walk today Found three GCs. This capped off a nice long walk.
Thanks again Deputy D0g!
Thanks again Deputy D0g!
A new day and once again arrived to GZ. This time armed with a fresh idea after looking at the name and clue. Maybe i should really do that firstly next time before i just wander off into the bush
I once again spent quite some time here before conceding and calling a friend to confirm my suspicions. Funny enough i had been looking for the right thing and as i was on the phone this sneaky little cache presented itself within a foot of where i was standing.
Thanks DD

This one proved to tricky for me today. I made my way in and was pretty confident on my GZ, with good coverage at what seemed to be caching tracks. I did notice a neat little hidey hole in a tree close by GZ, but thats all i found.
Now i'm thinking it was a pretty good unintended decoy because it sure did draw my gaze. I'm thinking next time i'll lower my search.
Thanks for the hunt Deputy Dog

Found reasonably quickly, only difficulty was all the grass seeds I picked up in my shoes and socks:(

Found with Teambooo, Booo Booo & Glenwarra
This was one of those caches that we attempted early on (we had yet to make 100 finds). We spent a solid half hour searching for this at the time only to log a DNF. This time how ever not even 30 seconds had passed of arriving at GZ before we had the cache in hand. Teambooo had a spare log scroll and as the orginal log was she placed a new log with all our names scribed. TNLN-SL TYFC.

I thought I had a good look but after reading the other logs it looks like I missed something. I'll try again.
Parked at the parking area and then took a harder way to GZ. Got there to search many places after 2o min but couldn't find. I took off to find others caches then returned to try again. But again, I took another 10 min before I did a PAF. After that, I still had trouble finding it but about to give up, then spotted the very camouflaged cache. Well done. Good work. Signed the little bit of log sheet left. Will need a new log soon. TFTC.
After finding B.O.P No 1 went back to our car then noticed the same Gentleman. Sure enough it was Calypso62. Had a great chat then went of together walking to find Rooty Hill Rocks. Aspenology found this one much to her pleasure. Great hide, am always impressed by well disguised caches in plain sight Really great to meet you Calypso62 you have inspired us to get back into caching and attend some of the events Signed log PD and AsB. Found it with Calypso62, Pendlebury and GeoStaffy. While Pendlebury and Calyso62 looked around I noticed the cache. It is the first cache I found without other people's help. It made me fall in love with caching and I would love to find more these treasures with Pendlebury. It is one of the exciting moments in daily life which opens a door to something surprising. I love it.

I had found the two caches in the vicinity of the Olympic fields and was heading for this cache when I was approached by the couple I had seen at the first cache I found. It turned out they were cachers too and had signed the BOP#1 cache just minutes after me. Suspecting I was caching they stopped for a chat. It was fabulous meeting up with Pendlebury, Aspenology and the wee pup, Geostaffy. As I was heading for this cache, they agreed to come on the hunt. Over the hill we went. I didn't realise this was such a large area. No wonder it can hold 35,000 people!! Heading toward GZ I allowed Pendlebury to lead the way. (He could get caught up on any spider webs - hehehehe.) We arrived and began our search and Aspenology proudly announces she had found the cache in no time at all!! It was wonderful to see her excitement at finding the hide and a good little hide it is. We all signed the log and after some happy snaps, the cache was returned. It's always a pleasure to meet up with fellow cachers out in the wild. Looking forward to seeing you again at an event or three in the future.
Thanks DD for an enjoyable find in a such a bushy setting. Well done mate!!

Still needs a new log, barely fit our names on the paper. This one took ages to find, a very clever hide!
haha, awesome hiding spot mate, Mike n I went ther the other day soaking wet finally 'stumbled' apon it. TFTC! =D
Yep. The name says it all. Very nice cache to find. Young team member really enjoyed finding this one. Just managed to squeeze in Breast Cancer Travel Tag Geocoin. TFTC Deputy Dog.
I probably shouldn't have had this tricky geocache on my winter night-caching to-do list, but I was already out this way to check up on Tarman Rakyat and couldn't resist the challenge.
Surprisingly, I found could drive through the Church Street gates, right into the car park and parked only about 150 metres or less from GZ. Many of the areas were all lit up, but absolutely no-one was around.
Leaving the GeoBuru2 in what I hoped was a secure corner, I made my way in a bee-line, guided by my GPSr.
With the battery in my 5000 lumens HID torch dead, I had to rely on my much smaller Smith & Wesson penlight.
I quickly got off the beaten track and bush-bashed briefly before deciding on an easier end run. This technique finally got me to GZ without severe bush lacerations, but then the 'clue' seemed to fail me. I was looking for something that wasn't there, and the GPS kept taking me right to a feature that didn't fit the description . . . I spent about ten minutes looking here and there in the dark, with some growing desperation, as my batteries grew steadily weaker.
I guess I had it coming. When I finally spotted the cache container, I had a good laugh at myself. Wish I could tell you why, but then I'd give away the surprise!
Container was in good shape and the log scroll was fine. There are about 4-5 spaces left for finders to sign, and then a new sheet will be necessary. This has been one popular little geocache alright! TNLNSL.
Anyhow, a bit wiser about the terrain, I made my way back to The Rooty Hill car park in a wide circle, without getting myself into any serious trouble.
A fun adventure that ended well!
Many thanks to Deputy D0g!

Gates were open today and a game was wrapping up, but the carpark was still fairly full. Parked closer to the netball courts and took the geo-mutt for a wander. Did a walk around the field before the GPSr directed me to the more bushy area..
It had a bit of trouble locking on to much, sending me around in circles... and time passed.. ..kept moving towards where the GPSr directed only to have geo-mutt yank his lead once in a while to pull me where I'd come from, making me dig in my heels to stop from wearing the more largish spiders as facemasks..
Opted to give the Android app. a chance to play, for not much improvement so headed back out with the intent to let the GPSr settle. Glancing at the screen showed 0.00m so I stopped and before I got the chance to do much else a glance at the dog showed his nose and paws uncovering the cache.
Should've paid attention to the mutt......
Kinda fitting, in a silly way, I think I'll have to take him again to suss out your other hides..!
Thanks for the cache, Deputy D0g!

We got rocked by this one. So excited we forgot the pen. Probably a good thing as the log is well scrolled... So instead of rocking the boat we admired and rocked on

Up in Sydney for a meeting today and a few caches beforehand. This is one of those caches I normally drive past at 100km/hr but today I was able to enjoy an early morning walk into GZ. I was surprised to see the concert arena here and thus the name of the cache.
Thanks
Thanks
I think I made it harder on myself than necessary by approaching from the wrong side. But did get to GZ eventually only to see the much easier way out. Rooty Hill is never somewhere I've ever really thought about living, and this park complete with cricket match didn't really change that opinion. Still a nice bit of bush and managed to flush a hare on the way out. Thanks Deputy D0g.
Took grandchildren they thought it was Rooty Hill Rocks as in music were impressed when found after short walk. TFTC
Oh ha ha ha ha ha. I get it. Park being used during school holidays and start of daylight saving, burnt out car was gone. TFTC.
WanderingAus wandered by on day 144 of our annual Climatic Refugee trip. After dropping the WanderingMrs (aka SWMBO) for a few hours of line-dancing I had a long leave pass. The gate was open, nobody about in the rain, so I parked as close as I could, near what looks like a freshly burnt out car, and after a short walk made a fairly quick and easy GAFF 0 find. THEN I got the significance of the name - I had thought it was one of those "Rooty Hill Rocks 96 FM" sort of statements, silly me.
My find No 3122, TNLNSL.
