Big things are happening at this little park. The cache has gone along with the garden it was hiding in. Lots of new structures going up, including fab new playground. Have archived this one as it definitely cannot go back in its original position. Lots of potential new spots but we will wait until all the work has been completed before reinventing this cache.
09/06/2012 18:11 No bushes to hide anything much at GZ. now as the promised garden works appears to be complete. Like the last cacher, this is another DNF with a request it be checked. - David
Our apologies - we were overseas for a month and these dnf's have slipped through unnoticed. We will check this out.
Most of the surrounding area is under going some garden works of sorts and construction of new facilities. GZ was partially barricaded but still search within a 6m radius but no luck. Due to what's happening around GZ now and the last 2 DNFs this one should be checked by the CO to confirm its still there. Thanks for the hunt anyway.
Attempted it twice in a row on a Friday overnight geocaching session at 3 am. Searched in many places with no luck. Must admit the hide is either too smart (and we can't find it) or too silly (and we spent 20 minutes on this option and that was just enough).
Spent lots of time searching for it but no luck. Don't really like such type of caches as it encourages trampling on the vegetation.
Found at 3:22 PM GAFF2. What a beautiful park! A few muggles about, but our finding efforts were well hidden behind the bushes. The only negative about this cache is the hiding location - encourages trampling of vegetation.
Thanks Earthbound Chief

Found @ 00:05. Out on my regular Tuesday night run with shogun. He has found this one and wanted me to give it another go - neither of us like a DNF, and since it was found since my attempt I had to come back. As per my previous log, the cache was in the the spot I found as likely, just a bit better hid than I expected. Now I just feel foolish.
Took nothing, left nothing, signed log for find 5 of 8 for the night.
Thanks for the cache Earthbound Chief.

DNF @ 23:50. I didn't find this one on a night run in the area. This was my only DNF for the evening. I spent a good 35 minutes looking around for this one, but to no avail. I did find a location that looked like it would be suitable to contain a cache container, but it was empty. I may have just overlooked it, it would not be the first (or last) time that I've done that. I'll have to come back and give it another go.
Tried to find it twice now, was hoping to find my very first cache in a park right round the corner. But no luck I blame the over grown grasses.
A good hide in a challenging park
What a tough cache to approach, Muggle activity made it so difficult to go any near GZ to start my search...no choice but to back off and wait....15 min's later all good to go and thankfully I found the hide with spot on coords.
Thx for the cache EBC

Found this one, git there at a time where not many people were in the park so it wasnt too hard to be stealth. TFTC.
lolol
Second time. Lots of muggles. Figured out that GPS was pointing to the wrong side of the track. Did a Very crafty putback (I think anyway!) by tripping over and putting the cache back while trying to get back up. TFTC EBC. Took TB Left Bouncy Ball

Took quite a lot of searching to locate this cache. Area quiet so found it ok. Good reserve / park and nice pond. SL Left TB TFTC
Had a bit of a fossick around where I was sure I would hide it, and then extended my search, but it was all in vain.
Didn't come up with the goods, might have to try again in daylight hours.
Thanks for bringing me here anyway Earthbound Chief

Nice to find a large cache with lots of swaps. Geokids carry a bag each and I do my best to monitor the exchanges. [B)] A koala was swapped for the Incredibles doll. Great one for the kids but lots of people even on this cold day. had to wait it out until they cleared and hid it well again.
Found on a night caching run. The last time I was at GZ I had to walk away due to kids being suspicious of me hanging by a tree. Tonight was much easier. TFTC. SL.

Found with Thing no1 and Thing no2, we had been to this park before but due to muggles could not even look for the cache, this time we had a bit of time to kill so we just waited for an opportunity and then we pounced. Quick sign T1L1 replaced cache. TFTC

This was one we did a while ago (when we didn't have a GPS) without success. This time with our Iphones we found it quickly. Found with jackam. TFTC.
We had looked for this one once before and DNF. We thought we'd give it another go today and had the cache in hand within a few minutes. #1 of 5 found today with RollaB. TFTC.
Found on a night caching run through the area. On my own tonight. Took about 20 mins to locate this one. I don't really like looking through grass bushes, they are a nightmare......lol. Anyway, well hidden cache in a nice location, even if it was almost midnight. TFTC.
went there earlier today,
but to many muggles around.
so went back during the night

Checked on this cache today due to a couple of DNF's. All is well and waiting to be found.
Had a fairly extensive search, but couldn't find this one, without trampling the gardens, I felt.
I'll be back.
I'll be back.
Found after a few mintues.. nice park at least what we could see of it in the dark.. nice sized container, space for swaps.. When walking in we noticed the empty bottles and empty beer slab on a park bench, on the way out we found more on the wizzy dizz.. some party.. TFTC Earthbound 99 Find #679
This one was not in my GPS but it was in Spladem's. Took some time to find the cache. Not a single muggle in sight at this time of night. Looks like the kids had a god drinking session in this park early on in the night. TFTC
Nice little park with plenty of water animals.
No muggles around as weather was cool and cloudy so
we had no problems searching for the cache. Took a while
but then we had it.

[blue]Finally!! I swear that on friday we looked in that exact place. In fact, I know I did! Took TB and singing doll that I might turn into one, and left 2 others. TFTC Earthbound
After a few dnf's and only one find recently, we decided we should check this out. We too, initially, were dumbstruck when it wasn't where we placed it, however by widening our search area we soon grabbed the cache. Feeling that this was a more secure hide, we returned it ti that spot
Without my GPSr I was unable to set new coordinates, however the new spot is only approximately 450mm NW from original coordinates.
I also left a TB "Aussie-Bound for Jody IV, which has a sad story to tell and a dream as large as the world. Please help it with it's dream
There was no Scooby-Doo TB in the cache

DNF @ 0300. Out for an early morning caching run after work, had a good scout around at GZ, found a freshly fallen tree, plenty of chatty ducks and other things, but sadly, no cache. Could be worth verifying as I found a spot, but it was bare?

No luck finding this one with kdb_ on our lunchtime caching adventures. But that may be because we were distracted by the baby ducklings waddling around everywhere. OMG they were so cute!
A few people about but didn't have much luck finding this one with cherub_child.
Will be back for another attempt.

#24 Another visit to this pretty pretty pretty park. This time had Mr.P as my bodyguard, to keep the ducks away from me. Managed to take quite a few photos of the ducks and the park.I think we will come back here in summer to sit and enjoy the peace and quiet. Lovely place.
We both loved finding such a big cache! Super! Left two handmade cards there and took a fish playing card.

I think there needs to be a good duck warning for caches like this *LOL*. I am so scared of ducks and geese and swans etc, but I thought I would go check out this park while Mr.P is at work.. and then we can go back later to get it.
I got there and thought it looked beautiful! Even all the ducks looked lovely, so I decided to get my camera out and take some photos. As I was getting it out, I saw a nasty looking ( I swear it had nasty looking eyes) grey/black/white duck swim towards me. I thought 'oh, please don't'. But yes, it did. It jumped out of the pond and started coming towards me. I ran back to the car. eeeeeeeek! When we go back there, I am going to either stay in the car or walk right behind Mr.P, who fortunately isn't afraid of them. eeeek!
So, I definitely think there should be a duck added to the hazard attributes! *one vote from me*

Have done some others in the series so we were happy to do another. There was a children's birthday party in the park and of all things they were having a three legged treasure hunt - exceptionally pleased when they headed away from GZ and equally pleased we don't have to geocache three legged - challenge was definitely in waiting for the coast to clear! Great cache in a lovely park.
Nice area.
Was very relaxing watching the ducks in the pond while waiting for the muggles to move on.
Quick find when the coast was clear.

Beware! You will find a spot where it looks like the cache has gone missing! But keep on searching & you will find it! That's what we had to do. Then had to sit & wait while muggles took ages to cross the bridge. If only these ducks could talk & tell us stories of what they've seen! SL. TNLN. TFTC.
Beautiful park, quiet in the middle of the day. Took a cool alien whose head lights up and we left a squishy crochet ball. Also picked up travel bug
Took a while to find it, duly watched by local wildlife. It was in the last place I looked, of course. Nice park. TFTC. GCMelb
Beautiful Park. Cute of dugglies followed us as they want to join with us.. Found it. TFTC
Accompanied with crank1, Beauty park area.... we enjoyed search and found the container. Thanks for bring us to be there today. Left 2 x trackables. SL. Thanks Earthbound 99
Love caches like this - so much for the geokids to do makes one cache an afternoon's outing. We packed the bikes, the footy, the bread and headed off. In the company of victorh, with the big V in the lead (new iphone in hand) we had the cache in hand quickly. Enjoyed the rest of the afternoon in the park, did not even have time left to visit the other caches nearby. We had four geokids with us and the cache was full of goodies to swap. Too many to remember, except the cute elephant Snips took to add to her ever growing wildlife collection. Thanks Earthbound Clan for a great cache and a great day.
Great sized cache with cool stuff in it, took geocoin, will move along. Left kangaroo toy.

Our presence here this evening certainly disturbed the nearby bird life.
However other than the birds, we had the place to ourselves.

Hi,
Great cache, nice to see one a reasonable size. Hope it lasts though as retrieving it in front of those houses is fraught with possibility of being spotted! We did not see the geocoin in there so someone must have slipped it out already and has not logged...??? We did put in a travel bug Scooby Doo. We have had this one some time and I am glad we finally found the time to send it on it's way....

This was our 4th out of 5 earthbound caches for the afternoon.
The kids and I put the playground through it's paces while Tam scoped out GZ. We searched around clueless for a while with iPhones pointing in opposite directions.
Finally we left them side by side until they eventually agreed on a direction, and found the cache soon afterwards.
Left parrotfish. Thanks EB for another interesting park and local racing history.

Popped in doing the maintenance round yesterday & couldn't get near it. Too many olds walking their dogs, feeding the ducks or just generally hanging around. Pretended to be there to do circuit walks, after 4 circuits I gave up. My legs hurt today!! Returned this morning to find lots of Mums with munchkins in tow. Excellent, children are a great distraction & they won't pay any attention to what I'm doing. Yes, all is well and dropped in Duckzilla TB (he should enjoy it here!) and Canadian geocoin. Replaced and wandered off to admire the parks latest clutch of ducklings. I really like this park, if it weren't for this mad hobby we would never have found it!
28-02 14th find of the day at 15:04 and 977th find in total.
A quick bit of searching in the logical spot soon revealed the surprising large but well hidden cache.
Lucky for us the weather wasn't the best today so we almost had the place to ourselves (and the ducks).
(''\(OoO)/'') Thanks Earthbound Chief for the caching fun!

11th of 11 today @ 5.08pm, After skirting around a couple of muggles sitting in the park and stopping on the bridge to watch the ducks and ducklings we found the cache under the cover of the bushes and trees without too much trouble, tnln, tftc.
This was a terrific little park, I really loved the gardens and the cleanliness of the place. The cache was a good size too and not where I thought it would be. I was chatting to a friend on the phone while I was searching and I commented on what a nice place it was.

Before we got to GZ, M hurt himself on the play equipment and required some first aid back at the car. All good now and off to the GZ we go. On the way we came across a mother duck and her duckling that were quite tame and let us get close enough to pet the ducklings. Geokids were totally in awe. While they were distracted along with other muggles and their kids I did some reconnaissance and located two possible hides. M soon joined me and hide 1 was a dud, but hide 2 was a success. We sat at a nearby seat and checked out the cache. Signed log and took geocoin and pathtag. Now the real work starts. We had to return the cache to its hide with all of the muggles around, this would not be easy. Got Geokids to attract the duck and ducklings to the other end of the lake and the muggles happily followed. TFTC. KeMS.
found quite easily even though lots of muggles because kids are on school holidays!! but 2 of us having guide dogs were able to distract the kids whilst our 3rd grabbed and replaced!! great little park.

We had attempted to do this cache about a week ago, but gave up because there were muggles everywhere. Went out earlyish this morning to beat the heat, and when we arrived there was no-one around. A few dog-walkers appeared on the scene intermittently, but squalid husband found and retrieved the cache without being seen. We dropped in a TB and a windy frog. Thanks for showing us this great park - embarrasingly, we never knew it existed! TFTC.
400th cache - Yay!
We had planned this to be a milestone cache as this park was my (geoblokes) old stomping ground. My childhouse house is one of the houses mentioned in the cache notes which mum still lives in, and I'm pretty sure my father has/had an old 'land released for sale' poster/flyer for the subdivision of this area. In regards to this park, my friends and I used to sit on the rocks at GZ with dog meat tied with string doing our best Huckleberry Finn impressions trying to catch the yabbies. At the top of the bridge was where some old bloke accused us of hurting the ducks because they were skiing across the water as they came to in land. The fountain in the middle was where we found our old dog as he went for a last hurrah walkabout before passing away a couple of days later.
In addition to the racecourse theme, if you go up the hill opposite the front on the park (Glenelg Road) there is a park called Chiquita Park that, from memory, is named after the most successful of the horses to come from this area. The park has recently been attacked by land developers but I am pretty sure the bulk of the park remains. There used to be a plaque in the park somewhere that gave some details about the horse and possibly the area.
It was good to have a decent sized cache in a park like this. It was just a shame we didn't have a bag of swaps to add to it. Otherwise thankfully a nice easy find considering it was mid 30's outside, although the shade from the nearby willow (?) gave us some great shade to lie in and remember the old days for a while.
TNLN SL. Thanks for the cache and the trip down memory lane.

This was our ninth find for the day and was located at 13:40. This is a fantastic park and to look at it you would not realize the racing history of the area except that earlier in the day we had learned a little while completing 'Seahorse'. We waited as a family fed the nearby ducks and geese and then commenced our search. We searched what we thought were the likely spots and then expanded our search. After about 15 minutes the cache was located in a spot that CrackerMum had had a cursory look earlier.

I got quite a surprise when I pulled up for this one - it's just so unusual to see a water feature with any water in it in most suburban parks these days! It really made it a nice place to be on this extremely hot afternoon and the ducks were all enjoying themselves and seemed pretty used to humans too. As other have noted, GZ presented a familiar sort scenario, but a quick check ruled it out and great co-ordinates thereafter made the good sized cache a pretty easy find (well, not all that easy, I guess!). Again, I imagine the extreme weather was my friend here as this must be a pretty popular spot on a pleasant afternoon.
