We are probably old enough to have actually driven down this road in a previous existence. TFTC.
A last minute decision to head north for a few hours this morning. A beautiful warm spring day with beautiful green views all around particularly while on the highway.Quick find. TFTC O319!
What perfect weather today with ALL7 to catch up on some caches. Lovely spotted and signed in by stamp of us. TFTM
Today was an absolutely amazing day for geocaching! I woke up early, packed my bag with all the necessary gear, including my GPS and hiking boots, and hit the road. The sun was shining, birds were chirping, and I was ready to take on the world of geocaching. The first cache I set out to find was in a nearby park, nestled in a dense thicket of trees. As I approached the coordinates, I noticed a fellow geocacher making his way towards the same spot. We exchanged greetings and introduced ourselves, and it turned out we were both after the same monster of a cache. We decided to work together and started our search, combing through the underbrush, climbing trees, and scouring hidden nooks and crannies. After what seemed like hours of intense searching, we finally found the cache. The feeling of pure euphoria and triumph that washed over us was indescribable. We let out a loud scream of "*FTF*!" (Even though it wasnt), high-fived each other, and took a celebratory picture. That was just the beginning of our geocaching adventures. We went on to find several more caches, each one more challenging and exciting than the last. We even stumbled upon a cache hidden under a waterfall, which was both thrilling and refreshing. As the day wore on, we started to notice a strange phenomenon happening around us. Every time we found a cache, we felt a surge of energy and power that we couldn't quite explain. We joked about having tapped into "The Force," and laughed as we imagined ourselves as Jedi knights of the geocaching universe. At one point, we found ourselves lost in a thicket of dense foliage, struggling to find the next cache. As we trudged through the underbrush, we suddenly heard a strange noise. It sounded like a person whistling a tune, but the source of the sound was nowhere to be seen.Suddenly, a man appeared out of nowhere, seemingly materializing from the trees themselves. He was tall and lean, with skin as dark as coffee and an easy smile on his face."Hey guys," he said, "looks like you're lost. Need some help?"We were hesitant at first, having been taught not to accept help from strangers. But there was something about this man that put us at ease. Maybe it was his friendly demeanor, or maybe it was the fact that we were all geocachers, united by the same passion.Either way, we accepted his offer and followed him deeper into the woods. He led us to a hidden waterfall that we never would have found on our own, and we were able to find the cache that was nestled behind it.As we signed the logbook and recorded our names, we turned to thank the stranger who had helped us. But he was gone, vanished into thin air like a mysterious apparition. As we made our way back to civilization, we couldn't help but marvel at the strange and wondrous events of the day. We had found caches in places we never would have imagined, felt the power of "The Force", and even encountered a friendly stranger who seemed to have some kind of magical powers. In the end, it was a day filled with adventure, fun, excitement, and unexpected surprises. We were all exhausted but exhilarated, our hearts and minds filled with the thrill of the hunt and the joy of discovery. This was a day we would never forget, and one that we knew would inspire us to keep exploring the world of geocaching and all its many wonders. We couldn't wait to see what other amazing treasures were waiting for us out there, just waiting to be found. So if you're ever looking for a great time and an adventure like no other, join us in the world of geocaching. Who knows what incredible treasures you might discover, what random strangers you might meet, or what hidden powers you might uncover? The possibilities are endless, and the rewards are truly priceless.
Grabbed a few caches while at the rest area on our travels home from the mega
A straightforward find here today in a likely spot. Cache and log in good condition. Thanks, O319!
Decided to head out early on my trip to the ACT to visit my kids and grandkids and take to long and easy way by picking up some caches along the way and use the time to clear my head and get some more fresh air. I was able to take my time and do this as normally my muggle missus would be with me, but she’s visiting one of our other kids and grandkids in another state!
Further along the road from Birds Eye View, this was my opportunity to turn around back to my intended target, and conveniently there’s a trad in the area. It’s always interesting to see where the original highway was, as I’m sure when I was a youngster, I most probably came along this section of road on many occasions.
Duties carried out, I headed back towards Goulburn.

With a day off from work and a CITO in Goulburn, I made the trip over to for my second ever time caching there. I made the promise that I would return for a proper day of caching and it finally came true. Today’s focus was mainly some solved Multi’s and a few other quick finds to maximise my cache find total for the day given I was limited with time as I needed to be back in Temora by 5:30pm at the latest. After the CITO, Fitzy_1965 and I headed up the hill to collect the ‘Mount Gray series’ caches as he believes that they have run their course. Unfortunately, I will need to return for the rest of the caches that I missed along that are along the same road again due to time constrains. I ended up with two DNF’s today. However, I loved my day out. TB visit on all found caches. I would like to thank all CO’s of the caches I found for allowing them to bring me and the caching community enjoyment. TFTE and TFTC’s!
Thanks for the cache 0319, it's hard to imagine this old bit of bitumen carrying all the traffic Melb to Syd. Regards from Victourer
Tftc 0319, made a quick detour heading to Goulburn, quick find, cache is in good condition.
Still out caching with my bestest buddy, Finalf29 Now thinking of heading home after a wonderful few days.
We have been on and off the Great southern road a lot these past few days. Thanks

Roadtrip - home. Well "half" way. I decided to add a few counties to my count on the way home. I am not going to try and do them all - I would take days to get home. Just going to the ones that are close to my planned route.
I missed the stop for the planned cache here, but saw this on the map rather than go back around. Nice and quiet out here early in the morning.

Imagine driving on a road like this all the way from Sydney to Melbourne. Thanks for showing me this.
Can't imagine driving down this road in the modern beasts you get a fav from me for bringing us out here. Great historical area - really enjoyed it. TFTC.
Was here last week collecting a nearby cache but forgot about this one, just a little further on. Rectified things today and was soon signing the log. TFTC 0319

9252 Located by baby&Mrs gopher at 1125. As we negotiated the old Southern Road both of us made comment of the still yellow-painted double lines. Still very visible even after all this time. Good condition. SL Tnx 0319
Many thanks for the history, 0319 - can't believe this was part of THE Great South Road, barely enough room for two cars to pass. Wish it went all the way to Queanbeyan - hate the Hume! This cache appears to have two log books - hope I signed the right one - I chose Yella! TFTC

On our way to the Oz Geomuster 2019 - The Gong! We left early on Friday morning, traveling along the Hume all the way to Wollongong. We found a few caches, here and there, along the trip to break up the drive.
We were getting tired now - so we started to find more and more caches. Being a little ways from home, they were more frequent so we skipped some - we'd never get to Wollongong at this pace! Thanks for the cache O319.

Quick cache in our way north. This was a great little stop. Very interesting to see how the road has grown. Such a shame more of the old road isn't transversible. Actually some lovely pink in the sunset over the top of the black cattle. Thanks for a place to stop and stretch.
Caching in and around the Goulburn area, we picked up a few caches and this was one of them.
An easy find at GZ, cache and contents were in good condition.
Thanks for placing and maintaining this cache for our enjoyment.

Found with nissan 65 on our way home from completing the Roo series yesterday. Thankyou for the cache
We have been to the Temora country music festival and took a break here . Great 2 caches nearby. TFTC 0319
A day trip with The Matetrix to Kiama for a family get together. A little cool and overcast to start, but the skies cleared and it warmed up nicely. Just one of many finds for the day. TNLNSL TFTC
I stopped at the rest stop nearby to take a look at a multi, then realised there was a sneaky little back exit that gave access to this cache - quite handy as the map I had previously looked at didn't show this small detail and I wasn't up for a walk today!
Cache was quickly found, log signed and replaced.

Found while taking a break from driving. I parked at the rest stop and took a walk to GZ. The wind was blowing a gale but at least the rain held off. Once at GZ I spotted the hide and had CIH. Then I braved the wind for the return. TFTC.
A quick find after stopping at the French VC rest area to grab the cache there. Two smilies in one stop ... I like that!
Thanks for the hide O319. I'm enjoying these diversions onto what was once the highway south.

We missed the turn initially but got back on the right track soon enough and made a quick find at GZ. The series looks like an interesting one but we only picked up this one from it today. Thanks O319
After a long day of driving due or a bush fire, much of the day sitting in a traffic jam. I'm headed home now grabbing what caches I can. This will be the last for the evening. This cache is in good order and is typical of Canberra. Tftc
Found this today without touching a spider or its web.
What a lucky day. At least a bit of luck (had to help a cow giving birth and the calf was dead )
Thanks for the cache

Easy find while out and about today. Interesting about the history of the road. Thanks for the cache O319!
During a 10-day roadtrip from Melbourne to Sydney to meet up with CT_ZA I enjoyed some sightseeing and obviously a lot of caching along the way .
While heading north I stopped in the nearby rest area, and then noticed this cache. Icehouse's "Great Southern Land" is my roadtrip song of choice, so obviously I played it while driving to this one .
Thanks, O319.

Initially I was unsure of how to approach this one. Then double checked the map!! That then made it an easy find. TFTC
Heading up to Sydney early for a 900am start, I decided on this one. Approaching GZ I was stopped by a campervan a little too close to the prize. It wasnt really a problem. I just returned on my trip back that afternoon. TFTC.
Stopped at the rest stop on the wrong side of the tracks, so to speak. Wandered up but didn't want to cross the barbed wife fence. So drove around, stopped the car and walked towards GZ. Some guy drove past and asked if I needed any help, which was nice of him. I said everything's good, gave him the thumbs up and he was off. Don't know what he thought, I was stopped by the side of the road in the middle of nowhere, going for a short stroll for no apparent reason, nothing suss!
TNLNSL, left a trackable. TFTC!
(The copy&paste bit: Found 17 caches on a quick trip down to Canberra to join relatives for my Uncle's 80th. Wonderful trip, and I very much appreciated being able to take rest stops with the knowledge that I could also go cache hunting whilst I rested! )

Coming up to Goulburn today for an Event. Managed to stop within 13m of GZ but still found this one a bit of a challenge to retrieve in my friendly (not!) Moon boot once at actual GZ. TNLN SL TFTC 0319
Pretty crazy to be able to park in the middle of the highway for this one. I remember being young and driving to/from Sydney on the old roads. I do miss their character!
AMTG of the OUTLAW CACHERS strikes again. Had the best trip ever with IXF to this awesome country. The people are the friendliest folks I have ever met and there is sooooo little litter!
Thanks so much for making my trip wonderful! Cool tree!

Day 5: Newcastle to Canberra to Goulburn
I was hoping to get all the way back to Sydney tonight but as the day waned on I decided that Goulburn would be our end-of-day. It was a good choice too as we got to stay in a really old building (though the wifi was useless!). The motel was also quite close to the Soldier's Club so we had a decent meal and entertainment for the night.
We saw a lot of cool things again today, though quite different than each other day. The road to Canberra and all the farmlands was quite a sight considering the forested and mountain roads we have been traveling through.
___________________________________________________________________________
Adventure Log:
What better way to spend vacation than traveling as far away from home as possible[?] When AMTG asked me a few months ago where I would like to go, Australia was the most auspicious target. While Perth would have put me 11000mi from home, Sydney was certainly sufficient. [8].
We only had a limited number of days, so I built a route allowing us to visit Brisbane, Canberra, and Sydney within our 6 days. This, of course, meant quite a bit of driving [8)]. This whirlwind tour afforded us many wonderful vistas along the coast, in the 'mountains', and through the countryside.
We couldn't have asked for better weather and were only hindered by rain on our last evening in Sydney. And by hindered, I mean that the rain and traffic made me late for (miss) my own event at the Opera Hall [xx(].
In our 6 days, we covered over 2400km [^] and managed to find 76 caches, comprised of 60 Traditional, 8 Earthcache, 4 Virtual, 1 Multi, 1, Mystery, 1 Letterbox, and 1 Event.

MrSmith00 and myself were on a mission for 100 caches in a day.
Bookham certainly seemed like the place to do it.
Success came with some slings and arrows, but as we reached 100 we looked at each other and simultaneously said questioningly: "120?"
This is #121!!!!!!
Thanks to all who placed these caches and sorry for the copy paste logs.

Came down for the 2016 New Years Eve Eve [sic] BBQ Event and then went off to find some more caches, after all, I couldn't come all this way for an event and then leave cacheless.
First stop was the pink snails to show my granddaughter.... awweeeee, they're gone disappointed, but oh well, it is what it is, I'll show her the photos. This was cache find 6 of 9. 9 caches, not bad work for a 3:30pm start. Quickly had CIH. Yippee, another of the Great Southern Road series ticked off, I have 7 left to find - great series. I was hoping to make 1000 caches by years end.... sadly it was not to be.

I found this cache as a joint part of “Team” *Throsbyonchurch* and in which name the log book was signed. I now have my own account as I’m old enough to cache myself, so I am claiming a fair share of my earlier finds. As I had no caching name at the time there's no log in the book for me but I’m claiming the find under team ToC. Thank you for the hide.

Back to Sydney (second weekend in a row!) so of course, had to try and find at least a couple of caches on the way up.
We didn't realise this one was here when we collected the nearby cache last time we were here. It was a nice easy find (in the rain!) and we left some goodies before heading off to the next one. TFTC!

Perfect timing for a leg stretch and a little rest stop before continuing on.
