Today is our 2nd day in South Australia, visiting from Brisbane. We started in Port Augusta and spent the day driving to Hawker and back. There is a very important reason that we were in Hawker and why we were here today. Hawker is our surname. The little TTs lost their dad 2 years ago and today was the anniversary. As he was dying, he said he wished he had travelled more. So this was our anniversary holiday. Once I saw this town was near Port Augusta, it became a very important part of the trip.Grateful we didn't need to go to the top to get the cache. MrTT had fun on the mound though.
A very pleasant late afternoon walk with no one else around.Coordinates were spot on and it made for an easy find. TFTC.
On our travels we found ourselves in hawker and took a nice early walk to policeman lookout a nice quick find on the way up to the top thanks for placing it
Up here for a week's holiday with the geofamily Beautiful views. Found by the Geokid. TFTC
Day two of our four day trip.
The dynamic duo, SA Sewer Rats and ttrogg.
This was one of many stops.
We went for walk out to GZ.
A quick find for us today. TFTC

Second day of the dynamic duos venture north. Left Orroroo and headed up to Hawker for a nice and relaxing day as time was not going to be a problem. Didn't have a lot of caches on the must do list so ended up looking for, and finding, any cache close enough to the road we were traveling north on. Still got to Hawker in time for a couple of shortish walks which enabled us to clear the immediate area of any unfound caches. And of course, the main aim of the trip, the A Taste of Hawker's Heritage AdLab. All up, completed an Earthcache as well, and found twenty physical caches and this was one of them.
Quite liked the walk up to this one, a quick find and was great to add our stamps to an old original log, spent some time looking through the entries. Lifted one of the lids to the target pits but decided against going down for a close look.
Thanks to mobdx for placing this cache on our playing field.
Cache #13913 for me.
This log composed and published using GSAK (Geocaching Swiss Army Knife).

We are off on a trip to the Birdsville Races and then across to Queensland - the plan is for about 6 weeks of travel - all going well.
Week 1 we have travelled from Portland to Farrell's Flat near Clare.
Week 2 was Clare to Port Augusta.
Day 15 Port Augusta to Clarrie's waterhole at Lyndhurst with a lunch stop at Hawker. We jumped on the bikes and toured around town.
Thanks for contributing to our holiday and showing us your town mobdx

We walked up the hill to the butts in cool but dry conditions. We noted some clouds producing rain to the NW. Just as I had finished signing the cache log it started to drizzle. By the time we were less than half way back to the car we were engulfed in a stinging fierce sleet storm. We were drenched by the time we reached our car and frozen. Such are the adventurers of geocaching. Thanks mobdx.
Nice walk from the car park up the hill, cache was easily found at GZ, with a nice view of town.
With a few days off work I decided to head north for a night to the Flinders Ranges, and attempt to find SAs longest unfound traditional cache and Mount Abrupt plus what ever I had time for in the area. A beautiful part of the world up here.
Thanks for the cache

Travelling with iluvtrekking up the WA coast to Darwin, down the Centre and now in the Flinders Ranges. We haven’t been further than Hawker on previous trips and are in awe of the stunning scenery. Last cache for the day and for this area. Thanks for the hide.
Travelling with richlink from Perth to Darwin up along the west coast and home again through the centre and the Nullarbor, picking up caches along the way. We headed off on a round trip from Hawker to Blinman. The scenery was stunning. We also enjoyed the history of the area. This is our last cache find, we move on tomorrow. Thanks mobdx.
Since the sun was shiny, and everything was still frozen solid it was a good excuse to go for a drive and cache.great view of the town from here.Come visit SAs longest running annual event - keep the weekend free - 7th - 10th June 2024 Cant wait!!
Nearly overlooked searching for this on our morning walk. Thanks for the cache. Nice easy find
Went up to the top of the hill first, is probably easier to find if ascending not descending.
Staying at Hawker 2 nights. Hubby & I went for a walk. Just got back before it rained. Tftc
Our final day of our epic Flinders trip with Mattycat and Perfect Di we made the walk up the hill and gazed across to Jarvis Hill where we just visited and across to our next walk, enjoyed looking at the infrastructure not often you see the target lifters up close, cache was a quick find

Even more trekkin' with the great Frog'n'cat adventure of '22... and then some spare days after
Plenty of scenic photos. Some 4wd and many miles.
Occasionally we looked for boxes in the bush of course !!! Got our priorities right...
A short walk up the hill and we found an unusual rifle ranging thingy from times past... and a cache!
Thank you mobdx for placing and maintaining this cache on our country geo-travel map

Out in the back searching, spotting and signing cache logs with Purrfect Di, Jack, and the Froghoppin Duo, using some or all of the resources of GSAK (Geocaching Swiss Army Knife), Whereyougo, Garmin Montana 750i, Montana 680t, Etrex 35, Samsung S21u, Samsung S9, with Geocaching App, c:Geo, or Geooh Go, and Android Auto and other maps... or often with just plain old dumb luck Plenty of that luck stuff actually !!!
*Logs are composed and published with love using GSAK of course.*

Caching is a very hazardous activity!
Watch out for sand traps, snakes, surprise cliffs, boxing roos, wombats, things falling from trees, bulldust, and floods, and sharp rocks in your tyres
try not to get tetanus from rusty mint tins and don't fall off your ladder...
-- -- -- -- -- -- -- but especially lookout for germs and bugs !!! . [xx(]
Make Travel Bugs the Only bugs you share and pass on
Now that there are no real restrictions - even more important to sanitise and safely distance!!!
Heaps good of all those placing quality caches out and about around the countryside areas,
in sensible safe places especially! - it keeps our game safe, fun, and interesting
Thanks so much for reading all this extra addition to the log word count! There's a challenge somewhere out there, apparently! You win a virtual smiley for the effort and getting to the end of the log Maybe if I worked out where I could do it and go back to normal logs again !

TFTC. After a walk to the police hill lookout we found this geocache on the way back down.

Found on an early morning dawn foray, a crisp 3 degrees but worth it as the views were amazing. Fascinating place, amazing to see how far they were shooting!
TFTF. One of the best things about Geocaching is the meanders through places like this
First for the day and it's always good to start with a find .
After being rained in at Leigh Creek yesterday (15mm from the storm) and all the roads closed , we reluctantly headed south to Hawker today (they had 25mm here) .
Enjoyed our walk up the hill and were impressed to find the rifle range bunker in good condition .
TNLNSL.
Thanks Mobdx.

Don’t suggest looking for this at midnight, bit spooky, watch out for big spiders
Spending a couple of days at Hawker driving around the district checking out ruins, towns and other points of interest. Picking up a cache now and then if we notice one nearby.

Continuing with our walk around Hawker, Mrs B and I headed up here and while I was going to continue to the top after finding the cache we were joined by a non-local muggle who babbled incessantly - one of those type who talks *at you* rather than *to you* so we were keen to shake her loose before looking for the cache. It took a while but eventually after saying we weren't continuing to the top, she then headed on up which allowed us to make for the GZ, retrieve the cache and scuttle back down the before "Madam Gabby" could rejoin us. I was going to have a poke around the nearby mine but the urgency of our retreat put paid to that idea!

We've been wanting to drive the Strzelecki Track for a long time so a window of opportunity came up and we were out the gate!! We travelled up the Birdsville Track and down from Innamincka. Had a great time caching and admiring many views of the outback. The only casualty was the windscreen which had a close encounter with a rock on day 3. Got told in Birdsville that it wasn't bad enough to freight another up. Luckily it made it all the way home with the help of duct tape. We found some great views and historical places thanks to geocaching.

Veni Vidi Scripti. Travelled to hawker for work and after dinner spied this cache close to the hotel, well relatively close. After an epic 600m hike at 9pm to GZ a short search revealed the cache. The log was signed. The cache was replaced. At 9pm the view of Hawker at night was good but couldn't see much else especially the adjacent caches. TFTC
The only cache left in Hawker that we had not done, so during the midday sun we headed up the hill. Many years ago I used to compete in full bore rifle shooting. The distance was from 300 metres up to 900 metres which seems to be greater than the distance here. You are correct - the number of "Rifle Range Roads" around the country is amazing, and includes our little one horse (one shop) town. TNSL and left a ladybug peg. Took some pics form the top while up there. Thanks mobdx for another enjoyable cache.
