Vistra and I are down from Auckland to complete the Queen Charlotte track. On day 3, we tramped from Punga Cove to Portage. . A quick find here. TFTC!
TheLandGirl and I are down from Auckland to complete the Queen Charlotte track over 4 days. Day three was a 25km hike from Punga Cove to Portage, the day was very windy and cloudy and we got some drizzle towards the end of the walk. Made a quick find of this cache along the way. TFTC!
Hadnt planned on doing any caching today as we were walking from Punga Cove to be Portage and members of our group were anxious about the time but couldnt resist this one. Walked right passed it!Thanks
Last night we camped at Camp Bay (and stuck through to the bar at punga resort for a few coldies haha) so today we are leaving early to make it to cowshed Bay (and maybe a couple of coldies at portage resort if possible haha) in time to dry off after the mornings rain. This cache is situated at kilometre 1751.5 of the Te Araroa, or more simply, today it is situated at the perfect t spot for second breakfast, sheltered from the drizzle. While the water was warming to the boil I ducked off to explore the campsite and of course, take a swing at this one. It was a fairly quick hunt and the logbook is in a reasonable condition.. my wet pen didn't want to play ball but I got there in the end. Replaced as found then back to my cooker. Thanks go to bum and worker for placing thos cache here, great location, and I'm pleased to have a smiley here to show my journeys progress-- This log is trackable ! ---- Feel free to discover ---- Please mention, in which cache you've seen this code: ---- 3TABQX --
Our NEW ZEALAND - TASMANIA - AUSTRALIA TRIP takes us to wonderful places and gives us an incredible number of beautiful moments and experiences. On occasion we also visit a few GeoCaches on our way. After a short search, we were able to sign the guestbook. Unfortunately, this logbook is also very WET...! Thank you for laying, nurturing and caring for it snapfish2 from Switzerland
Lots of pig activity in the area but the cache is nice and safe. Did find a whole lot of tramping gear spread out (thanks possums) as I was hunting about for it. Cheers
Wandered in the wrong direction at first but after resetting I found after a little search. Was our first serious snack stop of todays walk and had to wait for some other groups to leave before I went hunting around. Tftc
This is my last section of the South Island TA (NOBO from Bluff). I started on Jan11th and its almost finished. I am very spoilt too - that I'm finishing on this lovely track (feels like a footpath compared to what Ive experienced). Not too much further to Camp bay for the night... a quick find here.

After a couple of days on the track and excellent weather, we are really enjoying this area. TFTC
Found & placed replacement log & new zip-lock bag.
Enjoyed a night at Bay of Many Coves Campsite but beware of possoms & wekas with your food at night!

This was our first snack stop for the day, and we had to wait for some fellow walkers to eat and leave before we started our search. Took us a few mins to get the right spot and then as others have said we couldn't sign, and didnt have any replacement paper. Took a photo for the CO if proof of find is needed
Spent a few minutes hunting round several possible options until I located it. The paper has disintegrated and didn't have a replacement, sorry. Tftc.
I was pretty much done when i got here. I put up my tent and had a rest before cooking tea. While waiting for it to cool a little I snuck away as all other muggles were busy cooking. The log is dry but disintegrating. I didn't have any paper with me and was going to see if i could grab a piece from the intentions book that looked like it had been torn up already but forgot when the coast was clear. Thanks for placing b&w

Cache # 5,004 - our lunch stop for the day at the nearby shelter, so took the time needed to find this one. Not too bad, even though a large number of options, All well. TNLNSL. TFTC!
Are we nearly there yet?
I think it's fair to say that our group were a little 'over it' by now. Having set off around 08:45, it was around 4:20pm by the time we reached here - hot, tired, and ready to stop. But a way to go now.
Some respite in the form of this cache here which I admit to remembering little about other than we found it. Looking at a photo in a previous log I do remember it now...around 30 metres from the shelter...C of The Sullisauruses took one tree and I took another and got lucky.
Thanks b&w

Found pretty quickly, but on my way in off the trail I was viciously attacked by a plant that sliced my leg open and left a bunch of seeds stuck in my leg hair. TFTC!
Successful hunt walking the QC with my brother whole hes doing the TA! Didn't approach it from the best angle which meant I ended up searching a few more trees, but still found it eventually.
Paper was wet & container had water in it. Staying overnight so I dried it out in my tent with me & will replace tomorrow.

Find number 1455
Found whilst on a march along the QCT to catch the boat at Torea. This was our first rest stop of the day after stopping on numerous occasions to admire the view.
Cache found after looking under various trees due to poor gps signal.

Found during hiking 3000 km long Te Araroa trail, which begining in Cape Reinga and ending in Bluff. Thank you!
Wow! I got lucky. Second Manuka I tried. GPS marginally helpful. Log damp but just about signable.
Day 3 on the Queen Charlotte Track and enjoyed the break to grab this cache. Wish I had come prepared with a replacement log. Sorry bumandworker but TFTC.
Day 3 of walking the track. Fab weather which makes it so much more enjoyable. TFTC
Another attraction on the Queen Charlotte Track! Log indeed damp but signable tftc
Added to our list, but can't see me getting to this one any time soon unfortunately.
This was harder than thought - many places hit the hint. But after a bit of searching, I did discover the right spot and was able to log.

After a couple of hours walking the QCT and a short break at the shelter we looked for this cache and were able to find it after a little while.
Thank you for this cache!
Thank you for this cache!
At this point of the QCT we were already quite exhausted. We had this cache as our next waypoint but it would not get closer for hours. Never underestimate the direct distance compared to the real distance along the path!
Before finding the box I found some backpacker's ziplock stash with some helpful utensils.

Found after a short search, and took the TB. The first find since starting to walk the Queen Charlotte Track. TFTC

This one took a while as the GPS had me wandering around looking under trees from 30m out. Finally found and logged in a slightly damp log book. TFTC.
Another miss for me as too many trees and dodgy GPS and pig rooting looked to affect the area.
However maybe I didn't look as hard as the last finder.

The sun was well and truly shining by the time we arrived at this convenient little shelter, so I got rid of the long johns and rolled up my trousers. I also brought out the flask of boiling water so I could enjoy a nice cuppa -- to the amusement of a big group of Irish OErs walking part of the track. Well, it's the little things that can make a good just fantastic -- and tea is so restorative! Plus, of course, the beautiful scenery! TFTC

Did not find it! On day 3 of our Queen Charlotte walk. With only a few minutes to spare before needing to head off to meet the boat in time, I had a look for this cache. There were too many Manuka trees to choose from, dodgy GPSr reception under the canopy and not enough time. So I disappointedly log a DNF.
Ouch it is the difficult part of the tract to get here.

As promised, here comes my „more detailed“ log. (At least I try to remember the details ^^). Sorry it has taken me so long to write the log.
Caching on the Queen Charlotte Walk Way:
So far we have found the Cook's Quadrant, the Endevour Inlet and the big bay Cache. Today we came past this one. My group continued walking as I went for this one. It took me a few minutes to find it. As I signed the logbook a waker came along and observed me curiously.
Thank you very much for showing us this location and of course: thank you for the cache.

Had the local weka run up to us as soon as we got there. As he was checking out the bags trying to get the food inside I hunted for the cache. Didn't take to long to find left TB.
Good excuses for a rest, while hunting for the cache, the weka was trying to take my shoes tftc
Day 95 of Te Araroa Trail. Weka attacked justanurse's shoes while we rested.
Morning tea stop. Waited for others to leave before retrieving the cache, having done some discreet scanning while they were engaged with their cuppas and snacks. TFTC
Walking the beautiful Queen Charlotte Track and enjoying views, the colour of the sea, blue skies and very hot weather. Some caches pretty easy to find, some DNF´s and some not available due to many mugglers, especially on the last leg.

Stopped here for a breather and to put plasters on my blisters while walking the QC Track. Fortunately the campsite was empty so I was able to search in peace. I emerged to find a large group sat at the shelter, probably wondered what I was up to! Had fun watching the wekas chase each other in the sun. TFTC!
Second cache location on day 3 of QC walk. In a better frame of mind being back in coverage area, and re-downloaded cache data onto wife's older phone model. Already had the app loaded so that was easy enough.
BUT no luck here. Spent about 15 min.
Quite hard being lunchtime with many groups from both directions passing.Checked many clue items including all in a 10m radius of GZ ( no very stable readings on the device being used )
If the new location is within reach of track I must have missed this or it's gone again. Will watch with interest!

Enjoying a stunning day walking QC track. This looked really obvious, but no cache to be found.
Another cache exactly where indicated - love these caches in out of way places - it just adds to the adventure of being/getting there. Also stops non caching riding buddies getting annoyed with hunting delays tftc's
Was so excited to find a cache on my vacation to New Zealand! My first ever international cache. The trail was amazing and beautiful. Completely different from anything in the USA. We spent far too long looking in the wrong place for it, but the cache placement was incredibly obvious once we spotted the hiding place.
Log book is a bit waterlogged, and may need replacing even though it is not nearly full. TFTC!

Zowaar! Together with Jerm73, in proud possession of my GPS, we wandered around for a bit through the bush until we discovered that that wasn't necessary. Tftc, Simone
#505, found during my kiwi traveling. Log in may, because I was without net. TFTC
Had lunch fended off weka and found a cache.

Found this cache during walking the Queen Charlotte track, Thanks, greetings from Germany!
Easy find, filled in log and left 2 toys as cache was empty. Muggle campers were oblivious to my find.
Found on day 3 of our Queen Charlotte track walk. Had just started to rain before we got here and spent quite a few more hours getting drenched before arriving at Portage. I'm sure the view would have been lovely had it been a fine day (I've been told by others that it is). We had a great time despite the rain! Quick find. TFTC
During an awesome 4-week hiking trip in the Garden of Eden we stumbled into this one on our last day of the QC-track! Thanks for this cache, greetz from NL , Ro & Jet.
First on I did find on the QCT. Quite easy, but had to wait for 2 DOC muggles to leave. TFTC.
Fantastic spot for a cache. Grabbed on a day trip from Punga Cove to Portage. TFTC.

By far the most intense cache we ever attempted. No2 and No3 set off from Ship Cove on MTB's via Punga Cove to get there. Great experience to ride the QC track all the way as part of a school trip. Introduced some of the group to geocaching. TFTC
The turning point on a morning jog in from Portage. Lovely spot for a quick rest and a cache before heading back for lunch. Thank you.
A third to find. Walking the Queen Charlotte Track and what an awesome place to be. Isn't our country beautiful. A long walk today 26km in the end, and a chance for lunch and get the cache here. Many thanks for a cache in a wonderful place. NAVFAM
Second to find. Struggled up the hill on the mountain bike. Nice place for a walk or ride. TNLN TFTC

Yes, we were the first to find this cache on a beautiful 4-day hike on the Queen Charlotte Track after it has been lying here untouched for a exactly a month.Very precise coors, right on the spot.
Very well placed, there should be no danger that muggles find it by chance. Great views too and a nice spot to spend the night. Unfortunately we were already booked on another campground otherwise we would have loved to stay.
Thanks for placing a cache here,
