Came to the area, looked for about twenty minutes and then tried to find the vault, looked in the obvious places but no luck. Will try again soon.

We found the vault and the ice, we looked under the ice to no avail, have we missed it? Hmmmm
Our second DNF today.
We could not find someting new.
Nor could we find a shoe.
So we could not get the WP for the final cache.
And we'll have to come back and search with less haste.

First ever geocache. Did it at night, slightly spooky. Would be great if someone replaced WP1 thought hints are enough to find it (even at night)
Took Fire TB. Left bottle opener.
Took Fire TB. Left bottle opener.
Dropped off Fire TB. Looks like a homeless body has taken up residence in the Vault nearby.
Had the wrong idea about the glacier at first, but once I found the vault it made much more sense. Looks like the area has been tended to recently and I thought the cache was missing but then I found it safe and sound. Cache was a bit wet and log book was a bit damp. Dryed it out and replaced the log inside a plastic bag to keep it a bit drier. TNLN.
We really appreciated your log Damo! We obviously didn't do our homework well enough! We'll be back! Thank you!
Cache is still where it should be. Little bit covered up with some leaves.
The Vault never did get a body put in it. Or so the plaque on it says!

We certainly tried to do our homework on this one! Since WP1 disappeared in 2003, we followed the remaining clues. With the help of Google Earth, we had a pretty good idea where the "Vault" was. We parked above it and walked down. We found the "vault" and the "manmade glacier". However an extensive search of both produced nothing. Everything was clean, no trash anywhere. Either we didn't search well enough, it's been muggled, or...? We'll check back later to see if anyone's either found it, or done maintenance.
P.S. Was prompted to check out the history - what a story! It seems to have ended in 'Halcot' at Bexley though, so wonder about the contents of the actual vault. Perhaps we went too far back into history!?! ; )

Looked around without success - even after rereading and rereading the clues. GPS unit gave a few unpredictable readings and not sure if the cache is still there. Found a suscipious "fishing line" but after reeling it in found nothing on the end!
Grokette and I walk here often with the Groke_pup, but we never knew what lurked in the vault!!!
It didn't seem worth searching for part 1 as no-one seems to have found it recently.
It took some lateral thinking from the Grokette to identify the glacier - my idea was way off as usual.
Nicely hidden.

Like many others I bypassed WP1 and went straight the cache location by following the clues.
After reading the logs I had planned to stay for a little while and let the cache. Sure spending time on a Sunday afternoon in a beautiful park like this one is a pretty tough thing to do but hey, that's just the kind of cacher I am! [:p]
As it turned out a group of kids were playing on the rocks right at GZ. I had to wait for almost an hour before they left. The cache was a pretty quick find but unfortunately I had no more time to dry out the damp logbook. I hopped back onto the cache cycle and headed for home.

Found by Pi and XU9J4.
As others have done we parked the car, ignored WP1 and followed the yellow brick road until we found a blindingly obvious location. Took a few minutes of looking before we checked the clue and then it all made sense, cache was in hand quickly. Contents of the cache are wet and it needs a bit of time in the sun to dry out, sorry we didn't have time to do this maybe the next person could allocate some time to let things dry. Have to be cautious as the muggles are on you before you realise at this spot, one decided to have an extended conversation on her phone right in front of the cache location as we waited to put it back.

Thanks,

This is an interesting location for a cache. Without this cache I would have had no idea that such a location existed. It is always good to see a bit of history. Being in a fairly public location, you have to watch out for muggles. Well worth the visit.

Before entering the vault I donned the geogloves and cleaned up the entrance. I removed all sorts of nasty rubbish including several pair of stained panties. Why wasn't anyone intombed here?
Thanks Smallfish.
Thanks Smallfish.
Second of six finds for the afternoon/night. This was an interesting one: just keep walking until you see something appropriate. It worked! There were a few muggles on the path, but they paid me no heed. I found the cache at 1810.

Knew that WP1 was non existant so kept walking and found the Cache. Nice spot along the river. Another place I would never have seen but for Geocaching.
Came back to the place where I attempted my first cache. Now knowing that WP1 is gone, I headed straight for WP2. Walked a lot further than I thought I would have to, but eventually got what I was looking for. Not too hard!
WP1 took me to a park, the clues to WP2 were missing. So like SWAG agg I followed the brown pebble road downstream looking for the clues Smallfish provided on the hint list. Found the vault and did the bolt. Took the Lizard but not the wizard, left a cow and candle. Thanks Smallfish. Regards Philma.
Had a lot of trouble finding WP1, so called SWAGTim who informed me that it doesn't exist anymore. Walked downstream following the clues until I found WP2. Found the cache fairly quickly. This cache needs to be restocked. There's not a lot in it. Left Gecko. TN.
Spent 20 minutes looking for WP1 but failed dismally. Not sure if we were useless or the cache had been taken. Under those trees, the gps really became quite inaccurate and it was difficult to get any sort of indication where we should be looking. Certainly didn't appear to be a level 1 cache.
Read the logs, did some research and took off on a cold, wet and windy evening to get this one done in a flash. Got some very furtive looks from a woman walking along the path as I retrieved the cache but it was far too dark for her to see what I was doing - which was probably why she looked so frightened.
Realised as I was walking back to the car thay I had written TNLN in the log when it should have been TNLP - the cache now has a new pen.

Glad to be able to finally log this one. I'm sure I looked there on my last attempt!
I have replaced the cache container and added a new log book. I left the old log sheet in the cache although it is barely readable. Most items in the cache were covered in black sludge so I took them away too. There is not much now in the way of swaps but I'm sure it will be a more pleasant experience to find this cache from now on...
Note: You will also need to BYO pen. If someone could leave a spare pen or pencil that would be good.

Using the same method as most of the other finders(guesswork) we found it. Log book unreadable so left a log on a piece of cardboard I had. Don't know what the black gunk was but there is some of it there.
No swaps
Thanx for the fun and on to number 6

UGH the cache really needs to be repacked...it was gooey and filled with gunk.....found after a slight detour to the Upper Holt clue.....but no glacier to be found....giving up we went to the River to walk onwards and found the Lower (and therefore proper) Holt Vault....scrabbled around under the ice....(why won't it melt in all this heat???
ditto on below, especially gunk (i was the one who actally opened it). The gunk was quite sticky and black. tasty.
Followed the clues and found it pretty quick nice walk at 1.30am
Lovely spot, Going to have get a bike and explore the area somemore.
Thanks Smallfish, I enjoyed that
Oh! The cache needs a new container as the original is letting in moisture.

As with everyone else, WP1 is not there, but with a little assistance, found the cache. Even showed effrem where it was.
Once again the Geodog went swimming.
Once again the Geodog went swimming.
Didn't find WP1, but tracked down WP2 with help of clues and SWAG Notrom.
Didn't really expect to find the cache though, as a couple of people had tried without success (and I wasn't really in 'game' mode) but nonetheless, found the booty within a few minutes.
Slightly put off by the reference to 500ml Decor container...but sludge in the bottom of cache container still there.
Not much interesting in the way of swaps (and I've already claimed a bag of SWAG aft's water balloons - so no swaps.

Again like those before me, I did not find WP1. With heavy cloud cover, the satellite signal was very poor and the position kept jumping around....
But I didn't let that stop my search.... I found the manmade glacier and sure enough the final vault was still in place...
The container however had had something leak in it... the bottom layer of swaps was covered in a thick brown liquid... Time didn't permit me to fix it... the next person might like to bring a new "Decor 500ml" clear container to replace the existing one and a few extra trinkets to restock it....

Looks like the owner of this cache has not visited geocaching.com since December 2002.
Smallfish are you there?

Couldn't find anything at WPT 1, but quickly found the vault anyway.
Looked around there for 45 mins but couldn't find anything. I didn't understand the "under ice" bit in the clue either.
Might come back later after someone confirms that the cache is still there.

The Trio were not successful with this one. Couldn't find way point one. And after sometime looking around gave up. We will try again another day.
Hollow shoe contained a rock and bits of tree, don't know what WAS in there. Like others, took a walk in the park and solved the puzzle. Left swaps in the car, hence none. Box is a little sticky and could do with a washout.
Well, we couldn't find waypoint #1. I suspect it has gone walkabout. Shoes do that, you know
We found what looks like a natural shoe, but reaching into it proved no results.
Anyways, we decided to walk around until we found GZ. Took about 45-60 mins searching, but Tomcat Dwarf found it (the so-and-so). I had looked in the same spot but about 2 feet to the right. We hates Tomcats.
Signed the lil log bookette and took some tomato seeds. Left hairclip, balloon, tealite candle and something else.
Nice cache.
PS: I rummaged a LOT.

Found this one on our second attempt. WP1 was at the location as per the information posted. Geocachers should be careful in this area as I have come across hypo's laying around.
Do not venture into the Vault itself. Place is riddled with needles. Otherwise the cache itself is placed in a fairly safe location.
I would have removed this cache as per my discussion with Bushpusher. After my looking over it again it's not that bad of a location. Be careful is all I can say when looking for this one.

Couldn't find WP1, but went for a wander and found the cache anyway using the clues I could remember.
After speaking with Leek, it seems I was looking in the right spot for WP1 but it's either disappeared or I didn't rummage around enough.

This one was easy and we made our way to the cache.
However I do not think the cache should remain where it is. We found MANY syringes located very close to the cache (1M). Definately unsafe for all, especially geokids and geopups.

After two successes in the morning, Team GSA were feeling pretty confident - Too much so as it turned out. A couple of short side tracks, and we were back in business. Enjoyed our first multi-cache. Left a little puzzle game and took a mini-mirror.
A very enjoyable lateral cache...
Found the hollow shoe, but didn't really want to stick my hand in it after the recent rain! No sign of a lobster, but there was a small rock...
Followed the second set of coords to the glacier (albeit by a somewhat circuitous route) and found the cache without too many problems...
The first cache was very novel (How did you make it?) and the final cache was in good condition (if a little sticky due to a sweaty ChupaChup...)
Took a key-ring & a Campino lolly and left a bug (taken from Relics) and a packet of Tomato seeds.
Watched a little of a very entertaining soccer game as well...
After a miserable time at Ideology's Nest in the morning, this find helped to cheer me up again...
Good one SmallFish

Couldn't find the hollow shoe - don't know what we did wrong there. Anyway, took the dog for a walk thinking we'd have to come back, & found something that fit the clues. And then found the cache. Put this one down as a fluke I think.

Great cache had Scubamegs and cousin along, loved the Hollow Shoe, took the co-ords down wrong so had to go back to re check, put us 200 metres out. Once we got the right co-ords we were onto it and found it without too much trouble. Swapped Caramello Koala for picture frame.

Lots of people around for this one. Even a rugby match was going on. We trekked around a bit and found the first spot easily enough. The second spot was a nice stroll away and once we holted it all fell into place!!
Left a 3/8 HT cap head screw and took a toy car.
Thanks Smallfish.

2nd cache of Day 3. First location was easy. KO Turtle sniffed out the shoe. We travelled to and fro across the river. ST Turtle fell on her bum again. We found the cache! We took the mirror ball and left a 7808 voltage regulator chip.
Did this in the pouring rain. Found the riddle to be very helpful and quite funny. Found the hollow shoe and its contents easily and then onto the cache. Whilst waiting the rain to ease I took shelter next to the vault and BINGO!!!! I found the ice and the rest is history.
Exchanged the glass cutter for a golf ball.
SES RATS
Found by Mary & David at 1055. We loved the rhyming clues, and found the shoe and the vault quickly enough, and could see the cache. However, we found two groups of school kids and their teachers right there learning about the river and the vault. Had to wait about 20 min for them to depart before we could retrieve it and fill in the log. No exchanges made. We were delighted to see a couple of black cockatoos on our way back to the car.

Solved the riddle of the hollow shoe,
searched evey hollow, and every space
wandered the yellow brick road too!
looked 'tween rock, and hard place.
found the vault, now what to do?
Filleld out the log, just like the rest
swapped some stuff for some goodies,
Admired the view, said its the best!
Good one small fish, from the GeoMonkeys.

Third cache for the day. Had a bit of trouble finding the hollow shoe and had to dig a bit to find the clue.
Found the cache without trouble. Loved the riddle/rhyme style of clue. The vault is very interesting. A part of Sydney I didn't know existed. Thanks for showing it to me.
We left a mirror ball (taken from Ansett's Lament) and took a small torch.
Great cache Smallfish. Went early this morning, straight after the Dawn Service, but still there was lots of people about!!
The girls eyes lit up when they saw the jewellery box, left an electronic diary and some lollipops in return.
Thanks from the Odlids

Found the first waypoint after a lot of excavation (it was burried), along with nasty looking dead spiders, other crawlies, broken glass and a whole nest of ants. Would not recommend sticking your hand in!
We agree with Hounddog, should be rated more than 1 for difficulty. The cache location had lots of hiding spots and our eTrex had problems. We found no cache, but a huge bag of rubbish, some tea bags in a zip-lock bag, and very NASTY stuff like used syringes and other drug implements. Definately not for the kids.
Is a nice park though.
Well team Chaos it seems we both got to 50 finds at this cache. Chalk up a half century for Hounddog here as well, and our 3rd find for the day.
Came cache hunting with Snifter today. At the first location we found a Tangles rat but it was well out in the open. How he wasn't picked up by one of the many passers by is beyond us. We have kidnapped him for a while and replaced him with a lobster to guard the first cache. The lobster is more safely hidden from strollers but still marks the place well. We found the main cache after about 20 mins (including 10 mins of waiting for a girl who was sunning her self on the rocks above to finaly move). Took a little spider and Olympic pin and left a F.R.E.D. and a little bell. Maybe this should be a little more than a 1 in rating...just our thoughts.
Thanks Smallfish.

Busy thoroughfare, and a game of cricket in the background (Hoowwwiissseeee!!!!) Wasn't too happy about fishing, but thankfully didn't get any bites!
Pinched the BNC connector, and replaced with an Olympic pin.
Overall, a nice walk.
Gratitude to SmallFish

I can't believe it took me so long to find this cache. The rat threw me off the smell and I should have dug deeper to find the clue, the 1st time. At the final point I was looking where Oh where a normal cache could be concealed. It is a small cache filled with interesting goodies. With so many people shuffling past surprisingly well hidden. Changed decorative earrings for my crew and left a keyring torch and a Blackbeard's calling card.
The name of the shop is Adora Hand Made Chocolates. If you parked your car near the bridge just walk across the bridge to the shop.
Very YUMMY

Team Chaos's 50th cache!!! A quick raid on the vault was effected after work. Dragged out a rat , courtesy of Tangles...or is this the one from Lost on the Edge? [?] (left it for the next victim) . Item swapping was a bit sparse due to lack of goodies on my part, so I emptied my Guppus batteries into the vault, replacing them with a drill bit (for the next raid) and a much needed pack clip.) Thanks Smallfish for the well thought out fun... CC
Took the ice axe and crampons for the glacier climb but it turns out I didn't need them. Thought I would be the first but Tangles beat me to it. Easy to find and a good little cache.
Nice location but very very busy when we where there with all the people doing there morning exercises. Was even a Tai Chi class at the second location. One of the best hand made chocolate shops in Sydney is in walking distance of the cache, well worth a visit. Nice first cache.
