Had an extensive look. There's nothing in the location described that I can see. Hole is clean. Looked down the hill in case it fell through. No good. Bugger. Enjoyed the walk though.
[Red]I looked for a while with a previous finder. I didn't have any luck. I must say though after having walked from McLean's lookout and the temperature being 36 degrees I cant say I was super excited about the prospect of looking for a micro in the stump.
Thanks anyway subi-two. It looks like this one will stay on the unfound list for another few years.[/Red]

Using an old photo I was pretty sure I was looking in the right place, but like the others I did not find the cache.
Thanks for the break any way (I really needed it)!
Thanks for the break any way (I really needed it)!
Had a look for this one with three friends during a walk to the top. Nothing to be found in location provided in the clue or in the other nearby hidey holes. I even checked down the slope in case it had been dislodged and rolled over the bank below, but with no joy. I will be back if it is there in the future. cheers
Headed North to The Hunter Valley early this morning to Kurri Kurri, Cessnock, Belbird and Paxton in company with ALL7 to do some exploring and hopefully find some caches. Drove to within 250 Metres of the cache, Walked up the big hill to the spot unfortunately after a great deal of searching no luck. I'll be back
Came out to do Team Unibolt's Letterbox Hybrid then thought I'd start up the mountain to see if it was feasible for an old fart with a gammy knee. If you don't look up and keep plodding away it doesn't seem so bad (I'll let you know in the next few days), TFTC subi-two!!
Big walk for this one. Not real fit. Not looking forward to the next one up the hill. Great views though. Yep plenty of water needed.
After lots of driving we were in need of a good walk. This cache appeared to offer just that so we parked at the service station near the entry point and headed up the hill. Got to GZ after some ascend and had CIH shortly. Thanks!
Just completed the Handgliders cache and decided to trek down. Wow, I actually had quite a few 'take a moment' to catch my breath. I did enjoy the exercise. TFTC [:x]
Well done Team! A good walk down and back up. TFTC [:o)] A Scouts Australia Competition
We had driven to hangliders so this was a trek down. Need to be a billy goat to get back up. Tftc
Today we joined up with Chippyroo to grab some loose caches around the area.
After a steep descent from the garage we finally made it to the top with out legs like jelly, there was a pencil in the cache, and no log from previous finder?
Thanks Subi-two

After Having a friend bail on me for other activities, a free day was on the cards, so what else to do but go CACHING!!!!! A call was made to Team Senz to see if they were up for a combined attack on a few caches that's were in the area.
A lazy stroll up to this cache (NOT), to GZ where a quick find was made. We took a moment to catch our breathe then made our way down to the car

WOW! What a great view, but not without the effort. Walked up here as part of a hike from Wakefield with a 20kg pack, but the views from the top were great. Found the cache relatively quickly, but forgot a pen! TFTC.
Nice hide and walk tftc

Found it!
Found on the way home after a day tasting in the vineyards.
Perhaps the after effects had impaired our judgement as we though this would be a quick grab. We were soon realized that that was not the case. We pushed on and were not disappointed. TFTC

i think a moment is a bit short. i think this is more like take an hour. i mean, its a great spot, don't get me wrong, but holy cow, its going to burn a few calories going up there. the good news is the views are fab - one side is the lake and the other looking up the valley over to kurri. really gorgeous. worth a favourite point. thanks.
Reperio at 1630.
Having been down this track before coming from the top, I decided to see what the lower end of the trail was like, so I parked at the service station and walked up. The going was just as expected, and I was glad it wasn't too hot this afternoon, and after passing by a couple of 4WD's going down...I was at GZ and soon had the cache in hand. Coming back down, i passed by the two 4WD's slowly making their way doen. Enjoyed the walk up here!

good spot to prepare the soul for whats ahead! Cache container could have been a bit bigger though. TFTC!!
Woah!! Was not expecting a climb like that. Stopped at the cache for a well needed breather.
Some cool formations in the rocks which we explored.
Even the geodog made it down the track.
Great spot. Fav Point awarded for the great walk.

Had great fortune on my way out of Newcastle after my event to be able to get to this one. Thanks so much.
certainly took a moment here - cheers

Found today in the early afternoon. We made it despite the frequent and emphatic pronouncements from our youngest crew member - "we're all going to die"!
Found with blossom* and totally forgot to log! Thank goodness my gps remembered the date and time I logged!
I've wanted to walk along this bit of the Great North Walk for a number of years and we had the opportunity today as there was no rush to be anywhere. So off we set. It seemed a lot steeper than I had imagined!!! but it was really worthwhile and it was great to have a cache along the way. A definite Favourite vote
Tricky find in the pouring rain, should be ok normally but it was really bucketing down so hard that we had trouble visually locating the cache. All good in the end. TFTC.
Great cache on the way to Hand Gliders Launch. I was already buggered by the time i got to this one but persisted up the hill. Well worth it.
14:45 Hrs
I tried to encourage Webguy to attempt the hill, but somehow I couldn't persuade him, so off on foot up the big rocky slope we trudged.
The cache was easily found, but we weren't able to persuade Webguy to continue on towards another nearby cache.
Thanks.

Come on Webby you chicken! We've got soooooo close in your 4wd, just one more short hill and we've got all the way there!
Fortunately though, we decided to walk the last bit. That's one steep hill with big rocky steps to negotiate. There's evidence of others giving it a go but without the appropriate mods there's a chance we wouldn't have remained upright so we went for the sensible choice - by foot!
Surprised to find such a small cache where a huge container could have easily have been hidden.

We drove up from the bottom, was getting ready to make a run at the hill when the shade shifted enough for me to see exactly what was actually up there. NFC was I going to try and hop that hill. So we parked at the base of the last steep bit and they carried me to the cache, well, I wish they had.
After that hill, no chance was I walking to the nearby cache...
Thanks

Love this bit of GNW I used to run up to the tower as training many years ago

Atleast you guys all had a reason to walk down the hill and back, I'm still trying to figure out why I decided to do do it again, I think it was something about fun.
I walked down alone from Hangliders Launch, well behind the HAVOC crew. Found with the shrieking eels. Easy trek down and back. Enjoyed the company of the eels on the way back up. Love a good bush cache. One of the best caches in the area. SL LEFT CALLING CARD TFTC
I took several moments to consider why I walked down to this cache. My legs are still feeling it a day after! Found with only a few of the HAVOC crew. TFTC.
We were stupid enough (adventurous enough?) to attack this one from above. Big mistake. Quite steep going down the hill...unbearable climbing back up, and in scorching heat too! This cache was the cause of this group of HAVOC crew heading for the nearest watering hole for a not-so-skinny dip. Maybe better to get this one in winter.... Thanks subi-two for the cache and the exercise.
Found at 3.25pm GAFF5. A small group thought that this would be fun to try - not so much fun on the way back let me tell you. We struggled in the heat and thanks to Donna at the top who was waiting for us with a drink of water and watermelon - very much appreciated.
Thanks subi-two.
Thanks subi-two.
Pass here most days walking the dog and never thought to look for a cache. Great one.
With not a very good (no) working knowedge of the watagans and a bit of a faulse start, we started out on the wrong track (basically driving around at the bottom of the mountain instead of going up it) we finally found this one as we headed up to hangglinders launch. wasnt to hard once we realised our mistake (well one of our mistakes for the day) this was our first find for the day, out of 5 we set out to get, in the end the got 4, so thats not so bad we thought. TFTC. Team JEZES
This really is a steep hill. Totally worth it thought of course. Early in the day on a walk from Heaton Gap around to the forestry campsite. Have had this cache in sight for a long time so its nice to knock it over (With M+R+L). Thanks subi-two, for the hide.
Found this with King Wobbly and The-Don.
This has been a target for over 12 months.
Because I had already found Hangliders Launch before it ws published there was no reason to rush back.
After finding Noonans Discovery we decided to climb from below.
It didn't seem that hot before we started but half way up it was scorching.
Every step up was a new adventure in pain after a bad fall at Noonans Discovery.
After getting up there and logging the find I thought the worst was over, WRONG.
Walking back down with a didgy leg was twice as bad as going up.
Thanks subi-two (I think)

Found while caching with The Cashman and The Don.
When i got to Gz The Don and The Cashman had already had the cache signed and was ready to place it back in its hide.
It was a slow trip up the hill for me, but a easy walk back down.
Thanks subi - two

We walked from the top down. It is a good walk for our group. 6, 12, 39, 65 and 72 years old. Kids were disappointed there were no trades after such hard walk. We left a pad lock. TFTC.
came from the top found easily but took a while to get back up
I must be getting old

Thanks for the cache. This was not easy to find, but when i found it there was a sense of accomplishment..
Guys great effort. I agree that there are nicer spots to hide a cache but the intent of this one was to motivate people to take a walk down to the location so they would get to see the different views. I hid it while walking down from hanggligers on the spur of the moment and used what I had. Congradulations on the 200 finds TheHeadChef!
Celebrated my 200th find with BikiGanoo and Spikeymikey and NONE of us will ever forget it. We did Hangliders Launch first and walked down to this one, and we didn't think we were ever getting back up. One of the trio wanted to keep going down and hitch a ride. But credit needs to be given where due and it was a top effort considering all three of us had handicaps. Couldn't ask for two better people to celebrate a milestone with. Thank you.
On a negative note, the cache is in an ordinary position considering all the great spots along the way you could leave a hide.

Caching with TheHeadChef.
This a hell of climb when coming from HangGliders Launch!!!
And only for a micro! Surely a better sized cache would be more suitable?
A cache to remember.
Congratulations to TheHeadChef..........his 200th!!!

Thought I was in right spot but couldn't find cache. Enjoyed walk to Hangliders Launch though.

A nice cache and thanks for placing it part way up to the Hangliders Launch. I enjoyed it. The clue was needed though as it was a little tricky. Cheers
We had been planning to head up and check this one when the weather cooled a little but as Ecca found it we will cancel the expedition. Thanks Ecca.
Well what can I say.
I had taken the Ute to wataview and hanggliders and approached from this direction, obviously there was no way that I was getting the ute down the stairs to this one.
As I was standing there looking at how to approach this one a voice came from the brush " you looking for the path" I said Oh yeh is that it. This young lady just appeared from no where. She showed me the path and I followed her down. She was absolutely mystified why I was there and in the end I told her I was researching a game for the kids to play.
She showed interest, and said she wanted to help.
We approached the GZ and it looked though a bear had gone through everywhere.
We had an extensive look around a large root but to no avail. Checked clue but it seriously looked as though everything had been pulled apart, so believe the cache has been muggled.
I think I was definately in the correct area as I came out onto the track several times and went back in, to a large fallen tree with roots exposed.
It was getting dark so said my goodbyes and thanks she said she would start playing too. I then had the seriously steep walk up to the Ute in the near dark. Thats some steep walk, it didn't help that I had no cache logged either. Well I suppose 2 outta 3 aint bad from the Great North Walk.
Could you please check it out.

Early morning walk to earn my Christmas dinner. With this one and the next up the hill, this was motivation enough for the walk. Highly recommended. TFTC.
Picked up on the way up to Hangliders Launch. Luckily it only took a moment to find as I think it could have been harder to find on a different day if you don't look at the right spot.

Walked up from the motel. And up. And up. Got to gz and found the cache without a problem thanks to the hint. I'm glad it was overcast and drizzling or I would have blown a head gasket for sure! I was a bit worried that this was a rest stop before the "hardest part of the climb" - getting this far was hard enough! Hangliders Launch, here I come....
