Yay!!!!! Out for an evening adventure with MuggleGeorge and Mum to see if we can solve another of these tricky puzzles. This one took us quite some time, but persistence paid off and MuggleGeorge made the final successful move. Thanks for another impressive puzzle in this series! A fav from me.

Found on a trip around central New South Wales with e.gregory1. Our original plans were to travel through Bourke, Cunamulla and Toowoomba to attend the Dayboro event in Queensland and return via Port Macquarie and central NSW, but a series of events that included road closures due to flooding in southern inland Queensland, a covid outbreak in Brisbane and widespread storm damage and road closures along the north coast of NSW resulted in multiple changes of plans during the trip. As it eventuated our travels took us to central New South Wales, on a route from Broken Hill to Cobar, Nyngan, and Gunnedah from where we meandered southwards through some great scenery and historic towns that included Dunedoo, Wellington, Cowra and Yass. We then headed in a roughly westerly direction through to Temora, Wagga Wagga, Deniliquin and Swan Hill before making a final dash for home. All up we found a good mix of Traditionals, Puzzle Caches, Multicaches, Adventure Labs, Wherigos, Earthcaches, Letterbox Hybrids and Virtual Caches on a very entertaining and enjoyable trip. This took quite a while to extract the logbook from the cleverly crafted cache container but perseverance paid off. Thanks for the cache Fred6603!

Found on a trip around inland NSW with FeatherWaite.

Our original intention was to attend the Mega event at Dayboro in Queensland, travelling up via Broken Hill, Bourke, Cunamulla and Toowoomba, then home via the NSW coast to Port Macquarie then on to Adelaide via central NSW. However, the Covid outbreak in Brisbane forced us to reconsider, particularly given that the Mega and associated events were within the area of concern and we may have had difficulty re-entering NSW to get home and then would have had to quarantine back in SA for 14 days.

The floods in the north and east of NSW also hampered our travel plans. But we were able to develop a new plan that took us on a very pleasant tour around country NSW, picking up some interesting caches along the way.

This was an excellent field puzzle - so well made and unique. It took us 20 minutes or so to work it all out.

Thanks Fred6603 for the puzzle and the cache. A favourite point from me.

Found during a week in the Riverina.

This cache is undeniably extraordinary and exceeds any expectations!

Thanks to Fred6603 for the opportunity to experience such a fantastic gadget cache.

Certainly deserving of a Favourite Point.

The Roosta said I had not seen anything like this onion. A truely amazing bolt cache. I had 99% of it solved and even had 100% solved but did not realise at the time.

A bit of a nudge from the CO and the log container was in hand.

I cannot rave about this cache enough, it truely is a work of art.

Fav point.

OCW the Bebes. I was really looking forward to this one and wasn’t disappointed when we retrieved the cache and had to work out how to retrieve the log. It took a couple of minutes as it all just seemed quite logical but we had just done Rubiks Tube IV and were in the zone for solving this type of thing. Love the creativity. Tftc

OCW PelDroedGwin

Solved this clever puzzle at home before we headed to Wagga for a long weekend.
We needed a joint effort to solve what seemed so simple but took plenty of attempts to get right.

The creation at GZ is very special, PDG put his engineers brain into it and amazing had CIH before I’d even got settled back in the car! He put it back together and let me have a go.....it took me a bit longer and a couple of nudges

Another sensational cache. Have a FP

A favourite of course and this was actually quiet tricky and took some work to extract the log..
after some head scratching and turning this and that out the log popped.
now to remember how to return it back!! lol all good.
Day 2
Visiting Wagga with the Team from Canberra AKA "Capital Crunchers".
Weather was a bit on/off but for the most part good enough for caching.

Traveling with StrangeTrousers
Nice to visit again

#6290 10th for today

Day 2 of the Kengal Trip.

The aim of today was to collect as many of the high-value solved puzzle caches as possible This lead us to and fro across town a bit, but also to some exciting finds.

Some caches signed with "Capital Crunchers" or some variation of that where the group was present. The team was: Kittykatch, Joolay, barb2e, Smittengranny, Cosmonaught, Tankengine, Aquilus, dty, mtrax, TikvaNZ and myself.

Probably one of the best constructed field-puzzle caches I've come across. Definitely not simple, we played around with it for 15 mins before getting it to cooperate.

Thanks Fred6603

26-Jul-20
A Briliant cache. It took a fair bit of time but was a team effort by the Capital Crunchers on their weekend in the area to grab a variety of caches concentrating on high D/Ts and mystery/puzzle caches most of which we had solved at home. It is totally worth a fp. TFTC

This is totally cool. Pushing turning, scratching our heads and then bingo. Fave from me.

Found with Kittykatch, barb2e, MTrax, TikvaNZ, Smittengranny and Strangetrousers caching as Capital Crunchers. picking up some around the area. TFTC Fred6603

We have seen a puzzle like this one years ago - in Bendigo we think? Nice work on the construction, but had to enlist some help on how to open it as it just wouldn't reach properly.
Thanks Fred6603

Visiting on the way to the MEGA this was one cache that I targetted. Well, this took a little while. However the steps were logical and eventually the logbook was in hand. Glad I don't have to do it again!

Well I have finally calculated, counted, rocked and rolled this puzzle this puzzle and worked out the coordinated. The next thing was to find the time to get to ground zero.

We made it to there today, It was an easy find, now to solve the puzzle within. The first think was to check what was there and see what we had, then the fun began. We pushed and pulled, wiggled and giggled, twisted and turned. When we thought we had it still no go.

Finally we had go get some help, we were on the right track and just not quite there, Finally it was done.

We have found it, we put in our tag , we replaced it where it was and now, we have logged it.

Thanks for the cache, Lil Donna & co

Another fun puzzle which I needed some help in the right direction. After solving and working out GZ set off with Lildonnasadventure to SL.

We had a touch of help in the right direction and had log signed cache replaced and on our way to the event also on today.
Thanks Fred6603 for placing this cache for us and others to enjoy.
Giving this one a FP!!!

Yesterday we (with vegankathi) had the chance to solve this puzzle. It was tough, funny and it took us quite some time to get to the log. It is a wonderful, very clever and great piece of work. Never seen anything like this. For sure a favorite.

Tftc FRED6603, we enjoyed it

It took veganchris and I a long time (and some help from Fred6603) to figure this one out. It's absolutely genius!! It's the most clever cache I've ever seen and definitely a favorite.

You pwned us n00bs.

We will return.

I spent about 5 minutes trying to figure and then handed to the muggles in the car. I need not have wasted my time.

Thanks for the CO for the offer of help but the muggles had moved me on by then.... next time I will be more prepared (read more time to hang around....).Cool

Thanks to Fred6603 and **clear skies** from TeamAstro. [^] Cache the planet!

In the company of the The_Tritonz and Nawal, we made our way from Geelong to Wagga Wagga. We stopped periodically here and there grabbing caches along the way. There were trads, mysteries, multis and even tree climbs to contend with. Thanks to all of the CO's for their hard work. What a cracker this was, a great relief to finally extract the log. TFTC Fred6603 Big Grin

After making our destination for the night after caching on the way up the Hume, we set up camp, had a nice dinner with great company and a short relax being taking off again in the dark to make some more finds. DAB, the Tritonz and myself (we were logging caches as The DNT) were keen on making a find on this one after I made quick work of the puzzle which I was surprised to get the green light on first time. The cache puzzle was a ripper, one that none of us hand seen but worked through for about 25 mins. We had part of it right but it wasn't before the tritonz tried one more trick that we got into the log. Signed and returned as found.

**Thanks for placing this puzzle cache Fred6603 for us to find**

After setting up camp at the local caravan park we headed off to pick up some solved puzzles in the dark of night in the company of DAB and Na'wal.
Well this was a doozy to crack. With 6 brains and 12 hands all trying their luck at this field puzzle we finally got access to the log...but it wasn't easy though! A very clever hide that we had never seen before.

Thanks Fred6603 for the frustrating puzzle that we did enjoy after all
A favourite point added.

This one has been on the radar for some time. Found with JonnoMawbs for one of his milestones. As with all the Rubik's Tubes: thoroughly enjoyed, took time to get in, & marvelled & cursed (at same time) the time & effort put into each creation. Thanks Fred. Was gonna bring this around so you can put it back in your workshop, but heard you were away, so left it where it lay. You'll have to retrieve it yourself.

There is an event on in Wagga, so I asked 3InOne if I could have a lift. When I got the green light for getting a lift I mentioned I wanted to get my #600 and asked if there were any worth getting for that. He said ‘Rubik's Tube V – Excalibolt’, so I started working it out. (This didn't end up happening but anyway.) We also took a look at other caches we could get during the day. Smile

After finding WP1 for 'ET’s Gone Home' (which we never ended up getting to GZ), we were left with the question should we find that one and back track to this one or get this one first and then if we have time go find ET. We decided to get this one which makes this one #599 not #600 but it is still getting a FP. While trying to solve the puzzle I got a idea on where it was but the Geo-checker wasn't giving me the green light so 3InOne continued to give hints. I still haven't solved it yet, sorry. When at GZ we quickly found the cache but next was the difficult part which was getting the logbook out. After about 10 minutes and finding every red-herrings under the sun we tried a couple more thoughts and next we were looking at the logbook and made our mark. Now onto the next cache. TFTC Fred6603 and a FP given for the great puzzle.
P.S. This is also another D/T spot filled.

Edited 19/09/2017: Finally solved the puzzle to find GZ.
Edited 25/01/2018: I was looking though my list of found caches and I noticed I missed logging one cache, so this cache ended up being cache #600. Smile

This was a busy roadtrip - driving from Melbourne to pick up CT_ZA in Sydney, and then spending a few days at the Gold Coast. 4500km covered in a week with much sightseeing and just a 'little' caching Wink. After a few days at the GC we started heading south again.

Today was our last leg travelling from Sydney to Melbourne. First time in Wagga Wagga, and this series looked interesting... But we stumbled epically at this first (and ultimately only) one - fifty minutes and no closer to the logbook. Not even youtube or google could help us on this one. We were just too dumb.
Thanks anyway, Fred6603.

Catching up with some late logs.

After a few days in Wagga we were getting off to a leisurely start before heading off to the 6 months to the Alexandra Event in Swan Hill so had time to look for a few more caches

We studied this puzzle for quite awhile but couldn't get the geo checker to agree with our answers. Knowing that a trip to Wagga was about to happen we enlisted the help of our puzzle solving group down here and after a few more knock backs from the checker we finally got the green light, so after all that effort this one was definitely on our to do list.
We arrived at gz where the cache was a nice easy find but , oh bugger, we should have remembered this bit. We obviously didn't have our puzzle solving brains on this morning because it took us about 20 minutes before we worked out how to get our name into the log, all the time hoping that the people in the nearby residence didn't come out to see what we were up to.
Many Thanks Fred6603, a favourite point from us.

On another D/T mission with ZQX, TikvaNZ and Fox in Jox to the Wagga Wagga area, this time a day trip. It was an early start from CBR, but also a relatively early return, so we had to be efficient in our finding of caches. It was another great day with some very fine geocachers, who I am happy to also call friends! I found 10 for the day, but also there were quite a few DNFs sadly. Thanks to all the COs for their caches which challenged us today in one way or another.

Tenth and last find for the day - signed log at 1440. On a late puzzle solving spree last night, I had a look at this one. I came up with some speculative coordinates, which turned out to be spot on - gotta love the simple solution! After some logical team work, the amigos nutted out the way in and found the sneaky log! Another great cache - another fav!

I confess. Several of the wrong attempts at the checker were mine. Maybe a dozen or so. Each time, I thought I had a breakthrough, but didn't have it right. Last weekend, with a Wagga Wagga caching trip planned, TikvaNZ and I put in one more effort to solve it, and still couldn't crack it. We asked Fox in Jox and AngelG27 to have a look and see if they could find a way in. AG27 made a suggestion, but the checker was down at the time and we couldn't determine if her suggestion was a good one. But we decided that if we were going near the possible GZ, we would have a quick look and see. Well, it turned out that we went right past GZ alright, and we stopped and found the excalibolt. What a cool word - excalibolt. Oh yeah! Gotta love it if you can solve it and open it.

We sought out the air-conditioned comfort of the geomobile and started to work on getting the log out of the excalibolt. It was a team effort, and we made steady progress. Right at the end I was just about to get the log out, but I was wondering if there was one more twist in the puzzle. I had discovered how evil Fred6603 was, and I was expecting something nasty. But out popped the little logbook, and we were all pretty ecstatic.

You little ripper!

Found during a Wagga Wagga road trip with AG27, FIJ, TikvaNZ.

Thx again Fred6603.

The 10th and last find on a day's caching trip to Wagga Wagga from Canberra with AngelG27, ZQX and Fox in Jox. AngelG27 cracked the puzzle for us on this one. A quick find at GZ. We then retreated to the cool of the geomobile to access the log. Again another impressive bit of engineering and a favourite. TFTC.

18-Mar-17
A great day-trip to Wagga with AngelG27, TikvaNZ and ZQX to collect a number of high D/T puzzles, trads and multis. Returned with a good number of smileys, but also had a few DNFs along the way. We'll be back to address those!!

I had perused this puzzle before the road-trip and had tried a few options, to no avail. ZQX and TikvaNZ had also tried, but the geochecker just raspberried and refused to give a green light. So AngelG27 had a look and suggested something - I thought it made good sense and went for Geochecker, but it was down.

As we were near the suggested GZ, we thought we would try AngelG27's coords. Sure enough, there was Excalibolt. Awesome. Back to the aircon of the car for a team effort, working through the layers. Happily got to the log fairly soon after. Great construction. A favourite. TFTC Fred6603

Visiting the area and headed out to grab a few caches and enjoy the evening.

This was an interesting puzzle which at first I wondered what I was doing wrong but eventually it all fell into place.

Once the log was signed all was returned as found.

We were in town for a few days to wisit our adopted family the Hinks, The cace was found in the company of the Hinklinator and Crazy Nat Girl. Well it has taken me some time to final get around to finally logging these, I had the Puzzles solved when they first came out but then they got pulled for the Mega, previous trips we were flat out doing Munzees, this trip we set aside several hours to spend on what have to be some of the best caches around. Thanks Fred6603 for the cache.

Back after minor surgery.

NOTE TO ALL CACHERS! Please do not attempt to disassemble the plunger as this is an extremely vital part of the log extraction process and interference with it will make extraction impossible.

Offline for minor surgery. Back soon hopefully.

After geo-hubby adding quite a few X's to the checker, geo-wife decided to have a look at the puzzle.
Using the same theory, but a different principal, she received a green tick on her first attempt.
So off to find Excalibot, we went. WOW - this one looked like a beast.

Geo-wife started a game on the iPhone but didn't get to finish it, as geo-hubby had log in hand in
under 4 minutes. Thanks, Fred6603, we really enjoy your workmanship.
A lot of time has gone into this one, a favourite point from us.

We had to get a bit of a nudge to move in the right way on the puzzle. Once we realised what to do we had a set of co-ords after a bit of magnification. So after warming up on number II made our way over. The ammo can was soon found and suspecting a long haul we moved to the car to set what awaited us. We looked tried a few things and steadily worked our way through it and soon had the log in hand in less than 5min from opening the cache. Wonderful craft man ship and clever arrangements without trying to give away too much. We completed the signing duites and re hid. TFTC A fav pt from us

Hi freddy old boy,
I found the cache however after 2 hours of fiddling i couldnt make anything happen, It hasnt been found since last year so it could be some maintenance is in order, or im just inept.

Anyway TFTC, wish i could have solved it.

This cache does not require any maintenance. It is a rather tricky cache to open hence the 4.5 star difficulty rating.

I was having a quick look at some puzzles today and came across this one. I thought it might prove difficult but I had the answer correct in less than 5 minutes. Nice puzzle, now I just have to drive 360km to get it. Thanks for the puzzle.

Oh what a cache! Boot65 did the solving honours at this one but on return from our Wagga mission I also got a success on the checker very happy about that.
We met the CO here as he saw us in the area, gave us one helping hand before on his way out with last words of "Have fun I will probably see you here when I get home". Well spurred on even more to solve this one it was opened, signed and returned and we were on our way again well before he returned.

TFT amazing cache Fred6603

2625. Well, well, well. I can guarantee that this log will not be adequate to do this cache enough justice. Many different emotions were experienced, from fear to great jubilation. An absolute ripper and as a bonus, we got to meet the CO. We were so glad we didn't get to see you when you returned.
It was an absolute honour to get a smiley for this, our first tube, and a huge thanks for your skills and time that you have put into this. You must have a great shed!
I still cant get over the fact that it has not got more favourites, but it definitely gets one from me.
A HUGE thanks fir this one.

Well it was Mission: Wagga Wagga time again. The original plans were for Boot65, specimenX and myself to go and attack Wagga Wagga and crack some of those puzzles that we have been working hard on solving. Unfortunately some circumstances changed which resulted in specimenX being unable to attend this weekend. So an inpromptu phone call was made at the 11th hour through to FurfacesLL to fill that 3rd spot in the motel room. After some quick sweet talking, we had FurfacesLL lined up and ready to join. Oh the fun is about to begin......

It was an action packed weekend for sure. We had a large number of laughs and wore ourselves out to the brink of passing out. Our adventures ranged from nice simple traditional 1/2 star finds right through to a full blown 5/5!! There was manic tree climbing (by monkeyman Boot65), Cliff climbing, canoeing, trying to crack open some very well constructed caches (often resulting in 3 "tools" getting frustrated and then all laughing at each other as it all comes apart so simply) and some long night adventures till early hours of the morning.

With WP1 of the 5/5 marked off last night, we headed out and had an attempt at WP2 this morning after getting some sleep. We had a bit of a slower start this morning, but after a feed at a local cafe, it was time to get the ball moving for a big day of caching. As we wandered over to WP2, there were a couple of "hairy" moments where I thought I was going to slip. Took us a little while to discover the GZ, would have been nice and quick however the initial "chook scratch" at the location wasnt enough to unveil the hide. With WP2 in hand, we have now picked up the co-ords for WP3 of the 5/5.

Well, Boot65 had done the brainpower work on this one before leaving Canberra. I had worked out what we needed to do with the puzzle however was having issues getting my answers to align with the checker. Boot65 however got it on the second attempt. We had been looking forward to the Rubik's Tube series as we had been reading the logs about these amazing cache containers. This was our first, and I must admit, we were all a little anxious to see what we were up for. Well, we definately were NOT disappointed. These containers are simply amazing, there has been ALOT of hard work put into these containers.

All 3 of us had a good attempt at opening the item and messing with the different tools provided to try get it open. As we were attempting, my phone started ringing. It was the CO. We got to meet to the CO (who was on his way out) and had a short chat about the brilliant cache container. As the CO moved on, we continued working our the cache. After a short time, Boot65 got it to work and then the log was revealed. Wow, simply amazing. We did the signing duties and then put the cache back together. Cache was returned to hidey hole and we all felt pretty good about cracking it Smile

Thanks for the brilliant cache Fred6603 Smile def a fav from me [:d]

After driving to southern Sydney Friday on a work trip I'm heading home via a couple of days in Wagga.
Today was a day to knock over the new power trail along with a few other caches in and around Wagga.

I was lucky enough to have a small amount of guidance from the CO as I tackled this container. A couple of pointers led me in the right direction and the container was eventually open to extract the log sheet. Another very well constructed container that obviously cost a lot of time in the home workshop.

Thank you for the cache Fred6603 and for your guidance and hospitality.
#2459th @ 1631hrs and 99th of 103 for the day.

02-Oct-13
Well there are caches and then there are caches!

The puzzle caused me some grief. I stared at it for quite a while and was unable to crack it. My daughter was passing by and I asked her to have a look and she suggested an approach straight away that turned out to be the correct one! But I couldn't get the exact co-ords even though I was sure she was right. I checked them with a friend to find that I was one digit out, just like was written in one of the previous logs.

But dramas with the co-ords were nothing compared with the trouble with the container. We had a few stops here as we organised various excursions including bike riding around the lake, and got a bit further each time. But there was a point where we couldn't get any further. We asked Fred for help and he arrived. He explained to us the part which I doubt we would ever have discovered alone. What a magnificent contraption! I think if I had a secret that I wanted hidden from the rest of the world I would leave it inside one of Fred's devices.

It was great to meet you Fred and your wife and we thoroughly enjoyed unravelling your devices during our visit. TFTC - favourite for sure!

Well, our overnight stopover in Wagga was expensive in terms of favourites - 3 caches / 3 favourites Smile

Although, to be honest we were cherry picking, in that all three were Rubik puzzles. Found VI and IV on the way in, and saved this one for the next morning. Prepared myself by reading the logs, and started to get worried that it might take longer that we had available before the next leg of our journey. Warned Fred6603 that he might be getting a SOS at ~8:00am, and he was more than happy to help.

Found the sturdy container quickly, brough it over to the car, and the deconstruction started. Piece by piece it unravelled, until we could go no further. Looking at my watch, it was time to call in for a hint. Fred6603 was very obliging, and ever turned up in person. He took one look at our fumbling attempts, and made the quick judgement that we were unlikely to do the next steps before nightfall Smile, and with obvious pride showed how the devious mechanism worked - thanks! I should feel guilty that I'm claiming the smiley.

Bit confused how this only has ~60% favourites - very neat puzzle leading in, and then an amazing challenge at GZ. What more could you want?

09-Jun-13
We solved the first part of the challenge not long after this cache was published, but for logistical reasons we were unable to make the attempt to access the cache until now. After admiring the design, some careful deliberation and numerous attempts finally granted us access to the log sheet. Thanks for the awesome cache and all the hard work that unquestionably went into it's design and construction! TFTH!

26-Apr-13
After yesterday's attempt we mulled over his one last night and described our findings and proposed plan of action to baby&Mrs gopher. With their encouragement we headed back for one final attempt and within ten minutes the log book was delivered ready for signing. Smile Another favourite cache for us for the puzzle and engineering challenge. TFTC.

We solved the puzzle and spent an hour with Excalibolt, but did not manage to release the log book... we will have one last attempt tomorrow before moving on towards Sydney. TFTC.

Woohoo this was our 650th. We solved the puzzle the night before. We nearly got there, then stalled , called for assistance and not only got the help we needed but got to meet Fred6603 and have a good old chin wag. All the amazing reports about the Rubik caches are soooo true. Well worth the drive over here to experience them. Tftc

Ok, we now have a new all time favourite... Easy find, but not so easy to log...Hmmmmm.... this one almost had the better of us... what a challenge!! Big GrinBig GrinBig Grin Thanks for putting so much time and effort into this!

Last Wagga day trip I found almost 50 caches… But, truth be told, many of them were very average!

So this Wagga day trip, I decided to choose quality over quantity! Only found 7 caches, of which 6 were “Rubik’s Tube” caches! (The focus of this trip! - Well, other than visiting my wife's sick Aunty). I had heard so much about these, and I had seen some of Fred6603’s work before, so I was determined to tackle these!
I’m not sure if it was lack of experience, or the fact that this in one of the harder ones… But this was our first Rubik’s Tube cache, and it was a doozy! – Probably spent well over 40 minutes here! After which I decided to call the CO for a hint! Wow – still took a good 5 minutes after that! This thing is incredible! I expect to be having nightmares with it in them! Unbelievable! Fantastic workmanship! Luckily the next few Rubik’s caches I managed to solve myself! (Well, after this one, I had learned a lot!). Thanks heaps Fred6603! Certainly enjoyed your caches today!

Thankfully I have been able to repair the damaged thread and machine the offending pliers marks out. The cache is back in action with a brand new log sheet.

Please follow the instructions and use only the tools supplied. One of the supplied tools will provide access to the log.

Be warned, I check this cache regularly, if you use tools other than the ones supplied and mark the cache your log will be deleted.

Decided to check on this as it had recently been found and discovered that some clown who obviously either doesn't read instructions or bother to follow them has used pliers to access the log sheet causing damage to the thread of a vital component.

I must be a masochist to spend so much time manufacturing these caches just so that inconsiderate cachers can ignore instructions and use pliers damaging delicate parts.

Offline until I get a chance to carry out necessary repairs.[:(!]

Finally worked out the puzzle after a quick email to Fred the. Some nutting out the cache revealed the log. Thanks again Fred

A tag along with o'cholio so I can't claim solving the initial puzzle. Brilliant puzzle at the GZ. o'cholio was getting a little frustrated and handed over to me. Some close observation and a little luck, and all the pieces of the puzzle fell into place. First cache together where I wasn't just along for the ride. Thank you Fred6603, keep up the good work.

Having had a nudge (or even a shove) on the puzzle, we were looking forward to finding this one. Mr O's vain attempts at nutting it out were proven useless and it was up to model engineer Peter to get the thing open - which he did in about 15 minutes. Very well made and a brilliant piece of engineering - one for the Pool Room. Great work, TFTC Fred6603.

Wow thank you Fred for the hours of "fun" I've gotten out of this one. Solved the location on my first guess, then a few days later I headed down to the cache. Found it straight away and spent the next hour sitting in my car in awe of the puzzle unveiling itself in my hands. I got half done but couldn't quite crack it all the way down. So came back early this morning for another shot. After 30minutes I finally had the log in hand!! Thankyou Fred for this masterpiece, my new favorite cache!!!

Solved this beauty after attending the 1111 event. Intriguing and a bit of a challenge but after a bit of brain busting I had the log in hand. Bit easier than than the 'tube'. Thanks for a memorable cache!

Good news. Rubik has survived his latest drowning and is now back in residence in a brand new shiny waterproof home.

02-Dec-10
Alas poor Rubik, I knew him well!

Unfortunately poor Rubik has been drowned in yesterday's downpour of 57mm. He is now in the process of being resuscitated and dried out.

Hopefully he will be back as soon as I can find suitable waterproof accommodation for him.

Back in action.

This one is once again drying out after the 45mm of rain on the weekend. Back soon.

We had previously completed some of Fred6603's caches and were eagerly looking forward to attempt this particular cache. The puzzle was cracked by Mr Ozjeeper on his first attempt. With the coords confirmed, it was off to the cache site to see what lay in store for us.

Excalibolt was so much larger than we had expected and the inclusion of a tool kit just added to our delight.

With a suitable spot found fopr dissassembly we commenced the task of unbolting Excalibolt to extract the logsheet.

What a marvellous, magnificent, mini machining masterpiece greeted us. As each component part was carefully removed photos were taken to aid in reassembly. The metalworking skills of the Lady Of The Lake rivalled those Fred6603's - perhaps there's something in the water in Lake Albert that affects those living in it or nearby to it?

It was only after much turning, prodding, pushing, pulling and twisting that the logsheet was fianlly revealed. Thanks Fred6603 for another memorable experience.

Traces of moisture were evident on some of the parts so some drying-out-time might be requred to preserve this precious artifact.

The floodwaters have receded, the cache has been dried out and returned ready for the next deluge.

Temporarily offline until the floodwaters recede. Apologies for any inconvenience.

Terry found this one a few months ago with 5 cheeky monkeys if you cheek the logs you will find our name we did
a few of yours in the one day Bruce was lucky enough to crack this one

After reading the previous log where the cache was opened in seconds I had a feeling that something was amiss. Unable to check until today as I have been away I checked and sure enough the cache had not been reassembled correctly by a previous finder making it extremely easy to access and it should have been obvious as the log sheet was not held in properly..

The cache has now been reassembled correctly and is ready for the next finder.

Note to future cachers. If there is any problem or you cannot reassemble this cache correctly then please contact me and let me know so that I can rectify it. I am easily contacted via the Geocaching website.

Well after a few failed attemps we finally got the go ahead that confirmed our coords so today was the day to see if we could finish it. We were a little apprehensive on what we were to find when we got there, but it must have been our lucky day. We found the cache and opened that cache in seconds. We admire your workmanship! Amazing! We recon you should work for Corrections......the handcuffs you would create there would never be an escape!!!!! Big GrinSL T4TC

#466 @ 3.45pm. On our Wagga caching extravaganza weekend with team Haveanez. The Queen had cracked this puzzle some time ago & we were awaiting the opportunity to finalise it and TODAY was the day Big Grin. Having successfully dismantled 3 of the Rubik's series thus far we were full of enthusiasm to give another a go. The GeoPrincess wanted to be involved in this one and got Excalibolt partially opened with Mrs Ez and the Queen offering suggestions. Dad was trying a multitude of ways to get through to the log when the Queen made a suggestion and WALLAH. To coin a phrase "....ohhh what a feeling!". Reassembling took nearly as long as disassembling as we had to make sure that the next finder had the task as presented to us so best of luck to whomever that might be.

TNLNSL TFTC - .....love your work Fred6603 - one more to go......

10-Jul-10
So....we will say it at the start this time! Love the work that goes into these, very very clever!
On our super Wagga weekend with Skullracer1.
The Queen worked this puzzle out a while back and seen as we had cracked a couple of other Rubik's.......we what the heck...let's try another!!!
We spent a little bit of time on this one with all sorts of ideas & suggestions, but it only took that one thing to get it....and it opened up....as they all do!!! Whoop Whoop! Big Grin Two thumbs up from us!
TNLN SL. Thanks to Fred6603 for the adventures so far.

With a 50% success rate on the Rubik's Tube series so far, we weren't sure how well we would go with number 5. We had lots of different theories for the coordinates, and had run around town trying a few of them, before I remembered that there was a coordinate checking link on the page. We went back to the car, and tried to be a bit more systematic, and after a few tries, got the success message that we were looking for. Off to the GZ, and the cache was quickly in hand. Getting to the log was another matter of course! The level of handiwork and attention to detail that has gone into this one is amazing. We managed to uncover two or three of its secrets, and felt we were making progress, but we just couldn't get it all the way. After sitting parked at the side of the road for over an hour, it was getting dark, and we still had a long drive home to face, so we reluctantly put it back together and returned it to its hiding place. We'll be back Rubik, we'll be back!

How does one begin a log worthy of such a fierce opponent?

I had worked out the coords for where the dastardly villians had hidden excalibolt some time before, and had tried to match wits with them to no avail. Bring on the next round. It just so happens I was visiting Mr and Mrs Fred6603 for some other business and I mentioned to them about it. Well, off we went so I could have another go at getting the log from the bolt... err.. sword from the stone... Sitting down under the everwatchful and twinkling eyes of the owners I had another go. Yep, got that bit, now that bits sorted, hmm, where to from here. have you tried this yet, was the hint from Fred. Well, I tried and tried and tried and then, hmm.. the plot thickens, but the logs still hidden. Next stage, another small hint and Voila!! out pops the log to smiles from them and looks of absolute amazement from me. I can honestly say, that this would have defeated me without the help. Such craftsmenship, such deviousness is what I have come to expect and respect of the Rubiks Tube caches. I am determined to finish them all, as I need the training if the thieves ever break into Freds workshop again.

Thanks for the Cache, it is now sitting at the top of my favourite cache list!!

Was having lunch with Roostaman when he asked if I had done Excalibolt yet. Standard reply for me is that I'm not well endowed enough in the grey matter department so steer clear of puzzle caches. Was informed in no uncertain terms that this cache is a MUST!! Well, I'm glad he insisted. The cache is a masterpiece. Even more difficult than getting it apart is getting it back togetherSurprisedHad to resort to returning it to the creator (with my tail between my legs) to be reassembledRed Face TFTH Wink

Did this one on the return home from a cache run around wagga. Fred, you are just messing with our minds. Took 30 mins for the secret to be revealed. Now if we can just get a small clue on getting into rubik's tube III !

Cache replaced and back on line.

A fairly straighforward puzzle, but I needed some help to understand bolt mathematics - I'd been on the right track but out by 1 on each digit. Then we were very happy to find this one before Fred6603 removed it for the safekeeping, as it would have to be the highlight of the trip! I really wanted to see some of his mechanical handiwork, and it didn't disappoint! We sat in the car and fiddled with it for quite a long time before we finally managed to work out enough of the mechanism to extract the logbook. A fantastic piece of engineering!

Thanks Fred6603!

With the assitance of winterdragon, we grabbed the cache and all sat in the car fiddling for quite some time on this one. We were truly impressed by the work that went into this, not to mention the sort of mind that can conceive such a concept. Amazing.

2917. [font=Comic Sans Ms][green]Mr Winglen did the work on the puzzle and am I glad he did. This is a truly epic puzzle - solving the cache page is just the beginning! Sat in the car while trying to figure out an in (or even an out for that matter) Bits were exchanged swapped and tried between front and back seats. Eventually I happened to find the log probably not strictly as intended. Putting it back together also was a challenge which Mr Winglen solved. Top effort on the cache, another great Fred6603 cache.

I'm responsible for a number of the red crosses on the geochecker, I think I need to get some glasses! The puzzle was nothing compared to the cache itself and I was amazed again at how much work had gone into it. I didn't quite have the dexterity to solve the cache so a little gentle assistance was granted. I'm still scrathing my head over it trying to picture the mechanism!

Thanks for the series to date, I wonder how many more you have in you?

An outstanding piece of work, and we felt a great sense of achievement in being able to crack this one to record our find. Mr Winglen and McPhan spent quite a while trying this and that, while continuing to marvel at the effort and workmanship in this Excalibolt. My (Mrs Winglen) main contribution was entering our names into the log! Very very nicely done Fred6603, and we were delighted to be able to meet you in person at the Mega event. Thank you!

19th of 24 caches on my 2nd Wagga and The Rock cache run. Found with Jacqueline11. Love these. Took about 40 mins to get apart, but got it eventually. Was just about to give up and i had a bit of a brain storm...... Nice one. Looking forward to doing the rest. That's 2 of them now.

We, the girls, stayed for the lunch to give us a plenty of time and patience. We in turn tried to find a way to open and fuddling, then pass on to the next and continue that way. Finally Alchemy2 opened it!! See below photo. It told a thousand words than in the log. It was achieved. It was the best cache with 5 stars!! Thanks to Fred6603 for the great cache.

Four of us arrive gz and found the cache.. we were staring at it... didnt know what to do with them... re read one of the printed out of Rubik's Tube - V ? Excalibolt. We tried for about an hr with take a turn to calm our frustration.
my turn 3rd times round.. focus with my brain and hands. then pop!... Yayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy! I couldnt beleive it I did it. this one is the most difficult I ever done this.
You are amazing ....thanks Fred6603

27-Mar-10
Wow excellent one ever I have seen.... 4 of us tried do it and we decided stay there for lunch while each turn try to open the tube (approx one hour) sudden Alchemy2 screamed herself - finally... three of us surprised to see it... also we all are so happy and more relaxed - looking forward to next cache... SL. Thanks Fred6603.

The floodwaters have receded and the cache has been dried out and replaced.

07-Mar-10
After an unusually large downpour in Wagga this cache ended up 2 feet under water. The cache has been rescued and is being dried out. Will have to wait for the floodwaters to recede before replacing.

05-Mar-10
PLEASE NOTE!
This cache and the rest in the Rubik's Tube series will be temporarily disabled and removed on Thursday April 1 and replaced Tuesday April 4. This is unfortunate but necessary as the log sheets are very small and I will not be able to maintain them during the Mega Event, too much activity could attract the unwanted attention of Muggles and with the amount of work involved in their construction it would be a shame to have any of them muggled.
My apologies for any inconvenience.

Turned up to find this one the day before Australia day but baby and mrs Gopher were already bending their brains around it. I can't remember the day I found it exactly. Certainly another masterpiece. Once again I don't quite understand how we did it, but we did.

Cheers

After a few attempts when it first came out with no success ,we waited awhile to take a few farmers and after a small hint from the owner we tried again. Five of the Farmers 9 ventured to GZ after cracking stage one and also waiting for the showers to clear.

After many attempts at various ideas at GZ with little success,we decided to ring the owner to gain a few more hints at the nice bush setting.Farmerboy finally discovered the logsheet and the micro signature placed at the correct place. We have since mailed 3 large padlocks to Fred to make the shed more secure. If that thief gets in the there one more time and takes off with a puzzle cache,we could all end up in the looney bin.The new convert is resorting to tennis and cracked under pressure at his first cache.

Many thanks to Fred 6603 for the many hours of hard work and shed activity and the Farmers clan certainly appreciate the detail to great craftsmanship. Hopefully ,not only will the new padlocks keep the thief out of the shed but the cache owner too.

Ten out of Ten and well recommended for all to follow.
