It would appear that some one has taken a disliking to my caches #5 gone missing and counting.
I’m therefore taking this one off line until I can check on it status most likely it will be archived

With the rest of the team off seeing Harry Potter, I decided to make an assault on Arthur's Seat and grab a few caches.

With the route I took, this was on a downhill stretch and I was passed by numerous mountain bikers hurtling by at quite incredible speeds. A little furtyher down I was met by a large group who obviously found the trip down much easier than the return as they were all looking decidedly red in face and all pushing their steeds.

I arrived at the cache and made an easy find and just as I sat down to sign the log, a dog came bounding up the hill with far more energy than I would expect. About 30 seconds later its owner came cycling up the hill looking like he was out on a pleasant afternoon flat ride - obviously he shares the same diet as his ultra-bouncy dog!

Got the log signed and replaced and then set off in search of my final find for the day.

TFTC.

nice walk down, and a very clever little hidey hole, from the track it was easily spotted but would be easily missed if just out for a walk. SLTN left thong key ring and a set of 4 shot glasses. TFTC

Quick find, might need to be moved as a bit of a track is forming away from cache down a steep bit.

Came from the wrong site before realising what
'half way up' means. Made a second attempt from the other
side and...bingo. We enjoyed the walk and the hide.
Thanks oakydog.

What to do with the geograndchildren when the excitement of Father Christmas is waning and the Test is depressing? Get out for a walk (try to tire them out!) and hunt for "treasure in the woods". They love it! So a look at Google Earth for caches in good places for excitable children who are given to to shouting to any passersby "we've found treasure" and there are a couple in an out of the way part of Arthur's Seat State Park (description courtesy of muzza). Further education for their father who has hunted with us previously in their home State of Quensland and an introduction for an uncle over from the UK. Found at 11.00 am by the Dad. The geokids collected a ball and a torch and put in a spiderman and a fridge magnet. Also left a pressie from Dicksontwo related to the arrival of a new grandchild. Many thanks, Oaky, up to your usual standards of a good place to visit with the added benefit of a historical story (just wonder whether an unqualified person would be allowed to treat patients nowadays even if there was no doctor around!).

[purple]Tausend! Very Happy[/purple]

So this is cache number 1000 on my list. Since the number was closing in for quite a while, I was wondering which cache to choose for it: An earthcache? I am a platinum master. Or a nightcache since I did kind of created the hype about it in Germany and I also run maps.nightcaching.org. Maybe a Wherigo! They are fun and a great way to create new adventures.
Well the first cache I found back in 2003 was a very traditional one: Just an ammo box with a logbook and some swap and it's still there! If I would have known how this game will suck up my time I might not have started it in the first place Very Happy So one piece got to another and I became a moderator in the forums and quite soon even a reviewer :surprise: There were times when I did abandon caching for longer periods but I guess I never quit.
Last year Martina and I did a road trip around lake Michigan and we did some awesome caches up there. Check out this one: http://coord.info/GCPZE7 and the picture we took http://picasaweb.google.de/lh/photo/QYf90xlZonQJwBTUmmaMhXSUlOMErfAdybsmFcKkJ5k?feat=directlink This is where we decided we have to get a new GPSr so the old etrex yellow will gets it well deserved retirement.
After that it was a steep increase of numbers and countries where I cached (South Korea, Cambodia, Vietnam, Thailand, New Zealand, Bahrain, China, Hong Kong and of course Australia).

So here I am. Saturday morning. An Xtrail with a filled up tank and nothing on my schedule. 987 on the caching-counter. I just loaded the PQ for the Morningto and see where it'll take me and I ended up here: Back where I started - a classic ammo box in a nice location! Very Happy

I managed to find my first Oakydog cache today! Lovely walk with the family dodging only a couple of bike riders.
Great to find caches in this sort of environment, and they lend themselves well to the original container types.
Enjoyed this one greatly, and looking forward to a future assault on the area's treasures. TFTC

Amid the changing of the guard in Canberra there was a need to “clean up” a few caches before we set off home to the west – was it still there? In 6 day on the Mornington Peninsula we hadn’t seen the Bellarine Peninsula – had it dissolved in the mist! In contrast to it’s other half, this cache would probably have been accessible by bike! Accurate co-ords contributed to another quick find of a well stocked, clean, dry cache.

9th find of the day, and 2482nd total find at 13:11.

This would easily have been the BEST CACHE we have found in a long while.

We actually approached this cache via the loop track, and then descended through the bush to the cache. We then strolled downhill some more, and took an un-marked track bck up to the loop track (where we collected the other cache in the area).

Took: Nothing
Left: Screwdriver
Thanks Oakydog for the cache

Found in the company of Acts2YouthGroup. Another nice walk on a good track and the umbrellas were handy! A slight view as we approached GZ was appreciated, as was the easy find, thanks Oakydog.

This was cache # 22 of 27 for the day, in the company of Alansee. I was glad the lightning had stopped as I was sure it wanted to find the end of my umbrella, we did see a couple of bike riders today and I thought we were mad. My thanks to Oakydog for the cache.

Found 11.30am
We had this one planned after a visit to the Red Hill market, at the market we saw a car with a very distinctive number plate and we guessed that the owner must be a cacher. As we approached the listed parking spot for this cache what car was already there? you guessed it !!!!! We gave the universal signal of geocachers (flashed our GPSr) and got a suitable response .... turned out to be Walenators. Had a good chat before parking up and going for the long walk to GZ. The cache was not too hard to find and we were quickly on our way again.

Thanks Oakydog

I found this cache at 4:35pm as the 11th of 16 on my Mornington Peninsula Afternoon. It was way back in 2004 for my last geocaching visit to this park. My previous route did not come down this pleasant little road though and I got to notch up our 130th 5TF. Could future finders also please watch where they put their feet here. It is easy to reach the cache without tromping straight on the middle of the small plants, about half a dozen of which will probably not recover. Thanks from D B-A.

It's been almost 6 years since I hid my cache in this park, and I don't think I've been back since. I haven't been this track, so this was a new area for me. I enjoyed the walk in, and the lake beside the track looked inviting.

Cache was found in the first place I looked - it does seem to stand out, but presumably only to cachers. Thanks for the cache, and a lovely walk.

Found by Bob at 1640

I've actually been along this track before - I can remember, when doing the Muzza cache at the top of the hill, I didn't drive in far enough and headed down this track instead. After nearly circumnavigating the hill, I found a small path heading up and was able to get to the cache that way. Anyway, no surprises for me here today and I soon had the cache in hand. It's certainly a very professional job and had me thinking of caughtatwork's "[CATS]" series of caches.

TNLN

Thanks once more Oakeydog

*FTF* While sitting looking at the cachers contemplating if I should go out for a hunt or not I got a message from Jibblets asking if I wanted to go on the hunt. How could I say no now ! Grabbed my gear and headed out for the trip. It was a nice easy walk to this cache and a easy find. TFTC. Oakydog you could of saved doing the experiment and just looked at some of my logs. It is not uncommon to find me out at 4am getting a FTF cache. Smile

*FTF* Found in the company of coverthypnosis, We headed down for a late night stroll after seeing a few cache's pop up usually i'm well and truely asleep at this time. Guess it's one of those sleepless night 's for me, so i decided to do something practical instead of sitting watching the idoit box.
this was cache #1 of 3 for the night finding the cache in the first place we searched.
great to see the effort made on a cache hide!
Thanks for the cache Oakeydog
BTW Sorry i think i have logged a few TB/Gc in the wrong cache but it should all work out soon!
