I noticed that this cache has been in need of owner attention for a period of time well in excess of the period of "a few weeks" as contemplated by the cache guidelines published on Geocaching.com. While I feel that Geocaching.com should hold the location for you and block other caches from entering the area around this cache for a reasonable amount of time, we can't do so forever. Please either repair/replace this cache, or archive it (using the archive listing link in the upper right) so that someone else can place a cache in the area, and geocachers can once again enjoy visiting this location.
If you plan on repairing this cache, please log a note to the cache (not email) within the next 30 days so I don't archive the listing for non-communication.

Interesting history - can't believe graves were just chucked!! No cache but removed some trash from bushes before I left
Similar to previous searcher, Council has recently pruned trees but interesting bit of history and to look at headstones ( in the rain )
Please check this one as the council has recently pruned the bushes, we found nothing.
On the way home from the Coast with grandson. The log being double bagged is dry. There was some water in the container but the cache is in good shape. TFTC
A quick stop to stretch the legs on the way home from the Coast. Grandson spotted the cache very quickly. There was some water in the container but the log is dry. What a sad story the cache page gives of the ineptitude of a local authority and how thankful we must be to people like Dom O'Sullivan for preserving history. Thank you for making us aware of this piece of history. TFTC.
Some garden maintenance has occurred, I’m not sure if it is still under the original bush?
Needs some maintenance.

On my way back from the cost had to grab this one TFTC cache needed putting back in its hiding hole
Found on trip to Nelson via West Coast. Pleased these memories are trying to be saved. TFTC
How extraordinary that it was thought ok to do this. Can't imagine it happening now. Thanks so much for the interesting cache description as we couldn't find anything at the site to explain the unusual line up of head stones. Following edvern along. TFTC #4648
Had a bit of spare time while passing Reefton on a flyfishing trip. Found by a newbie I had introduced to Geocaching. He found it in the dark after I had missed it. His 2nd cache ever. TFTC
Found with 1jb and Ba1ley71 while doing a tour of the south island in a campervan.greetings from the UK and thanks for the caches.

I made quick work of the find while Mrs fozzmiester checked out the gravestones. An intetresting spot, thaks for showing it to me. TFTC
As part of our holiday in the West Coast, Geomum and I geared up to do as much Geocaching as we could in the ten days that we spent there. We went to some beautiful and interesting places while we were there, and managed to reach our goal total of 500 caches too! This was one of the caches we found on our journey, thank you for placing it!
Checked cache was had some reports cache was damaged and wet. All looked okay, but replaced bag anyway.
Together with my family on a vacation trip to New Zealand. Starting at Auckland airport on transfer to Christchurch we went for a roundtrip exploring the south island. This was one of many caches we found while visiting so many nice and interesting places thanks to all the caches why I want to send a thank you to all CO for the work spent. TFTC.

Thanks for the cache. It is a bit damp so needs a dry out. Left a few things for the next people.
On our way back from Nelson thought we should do one since it was still light TFTC
Went for a nice caching tour in New Zealand. Starting from Starting again from Queenstown going Westcoast up and Eastcoast down.. A nice bunch of caches wanted to be found. The weather was nice, sometimes rainy, sometimes sunshine. Thanks for all the nice caches.
Was passing thru on way back to ChCh. Great spot for a cache but the cache container is not water proof and the lid is loose. Log was damp but could be signed. TFTC
Day 2 of our Criss Cross Tour of NZ before the Mega. Heading from Reefton to Greymouth today.
Didn't take long to identify the cache but it was full of water. We cleaned it out and dried the container.
As we went to put the cache back though, would you believe the postie was pedalling by. We had to
wait for her to deliver the mail across the road before we could slip it back unnoticed.

An interesting and very unusual history to the site. We saw the remaining memorials, but it seems very odd that the rest were destroyed. Hat tip to Dom O'Sullivan... and to the CO. Coordinates were good but the cache was wet. Logbook able to be signed but it will need attention soon. An enjoyable third cemetery cache for us. Thanks.
Nice and easy one on our way to Nelson. Thanks for the cache / Merci pour la cache. Greetings from France.
Although raining we located the cache quickly. The contents are damp and hard to write on. Back home in Reefton after many years.
A quick find while in Reefton for a conference. Such a nice community, too bad we couldn't stay longer.
Thanks for bringing us to this spot. Most impressed with the concept and the finished result is quite amazing. A great space in Reefton. TNLN. TFTC.
It looks a strange sight with all the headstones so close together here. Good that someone at least kept as much as possible of the historical records. Thanks for showing us.

It was a bit of a walk after been to the swingbridge..Easy find.

Having stopped in Springs Junction for Diesel and finding out that they close up early we were in a bit of dire straits, we were heading for Hanmer Springs but did not have enough diesel to get there! The lady at the diner told us Reefton was open late so we took a detour to Reefton to fuel up, all good, while we are here we may as well cache away!! We were a bit shocked at the way the headstones were stacked at the end of the park!!

A fairly quick find at the rather unusual remains of this cemetery. Genealogist Mrs W.E.K.A. was disgusted at what was done with the headstones. TFTC
Good find, a pity what had been done, glad to see there are people that care about recording the names of the past pioneers.

A quick find on a trip from Christchurch to the West Coast today. Good to see that the old headstones have been preserved, but what they did to the old cemetery and other headstones sounds a bit unacceptable in this day and age... Signed log, TFTC.
A quick find in the pouring rain added to the ambience of caching in Reefton. TFTC
First of 3 finds today, enroute from Reefton to Nelson. Interesting town and interesting cache info. Kind of a rainy, cool day.

Another quick find on our travels, and of course Baby wanted to drink again, this seems to be a recurring theme on this trip, as she always needs something to drink whenever we are near a graveyard?????

An interesting and picturesque little town, enjoyed driving around here, and have added this to our list of places we must come back to. TFTC.
On our way back to Westport on the inland route looking at the sights and picking up a few quick finds on the way
A quick and easy find on a quick pass through of Reefton - hadnt read the cache page till just logging now and seems my guess about the random headstones was right - give that local man a medal for saving the history that he could !!!! Will try to have more time next time through to go to the museum signed the log thanks for bringing us here
A quick find and a good assumption by Niteowlnz as to why the headstones were like they were. It is good that some have the forethought to save our history before it is lost TFTC
Thank you for taking us to this spot. Nice easy find. Made us feel very sad and angry at the Council for taking the easy way out to tidy this area. Sad to think over 260 people buried on these grounds with no grave markers as they've been moved or taken to the local dump! Disgraceful!
Easily spotted but not so easy to retrieve - hope no-one was watching as Mrs Pippin took a nosedive into the shrubbery
