Caching around East Coast and a bit inland for a while. TFTC.Today was a big caching day. Unplanned as usual. I decided to attend an event over the Brindabellas and into Namadji Park.I left my caravan at EPIC and picked up my nephew, Boaham at 8:30 and we were off.First stop was Picadilly Circus with an Adventure Lab way point. I had to get that one ready at Uriarra Village while I still had reception and then constantly tap my phone all the way to Picadilly Circus to not let the app close and have the answer become enabled. It worked and I finally could upload the answer the next day. Also at PC I could finally finish the Wherigo that was started a month earlier. We also grabbed the close by cache which required a bit of mountain slope bush bashing.Arrived at the parking for the event to find one Cacher had camped there the night. The event was great with a nice small turn out. The birthday cake at the event was about all but a few muesli bars we ate for the day.The group then started the large multiple way point multi. There were people going all directions looking for overgrown tiny signs in the scrub. We managed to find them all with the help of those with the foresight to photograph the map. Checksums weren't working but we finally had an answer. Yay.After the event Boaham and I did all the caches from there to, and up Mount Franklin. An awesome collection of trads, multis and puzzles.Driving back past the event parking lot at dark and the camping cacher's car was still there. Planning for another very cold camping night in the mountains, I guess.Sure was tuckered by the end of the day.Back in Canberra we met up with my Son and his wife who are silent cachers for dinner and energetic challenge rooms. Phew, what a day. Finally sleep time.Fantastic place. Lots of smoke sunset views. Nice hike.
With GreyHams we spent a full and very enjoyable day out in the area... an area I really need to come to more often as it was really spectacular on a day as beautiful as today's. With a FTF out in the area it highlighted the many yet to be found caches out this way and a good choice indeed!
An early start was a tasty one with McMuffins to munch on along the way, lots of little wallabies not an issue with the slower speeds along the quiet narrow road. Despite the frost and frozen ground it wasn't cold as we made our way up the first hill with the most glorious blue sky and still air.
The FTF a nice bonus, it was on to an abundance of caches to choose from, we made many smaller walks, loved the spectacular scenery with the snow gums and mountain views.
I'm sure it was my first time up Mt Franklin peak, and certainly my first visit to Bendora Dam. With all the dams at full, Bendora Dam with the overflowing and rushing water was cool to watch, such a great place and SO pleased to have experienced it.
Thank you for your cache that led to such an amazing day utta.
Up up to the cache but nothing horrible and its a pretty walk along the track. A few walkers on the trail that can be heard nearby but not seen. Great location, walk and views. Love a quality container like this.

We were looking for somewhere to go caching today, and seeing a new chache still unfound made me look a little closer, and it was in an area full of unfound caches...and it was in a county that neither of us have a FTF in....so early start was had, and with McMuffin in hand we set off for Mt Franklin.
Still a little ice on the ground when we got out of the car but the slope of the hill warmed us up. All info gathered easily, passing all the trads on the way up and some nice looking coords were had. OK, FTF out of the way we set about trying to at least start multi's, solve puzzles, admire earthcaches, grab trads and even a Wherigo.
A sidetrip down to Bendorra dam was made, on a road that was a little scary at times. Very impressive dam and nice little set of caches to find there too.
After that it was mostly park and grabs on the way back...saw GLISS! and nibletricecakes pass in the other directions after the briefest on-the-road chat.
All in all, a great day with some great variety. To all the CO's, thank you for placing.

After being defeated by a locked gate at Bull's Head on my previous visit up here last month, it was lovely to have Mt Franklin Rd open and all to myself on a cool, and quite foggy, autumn weekday.
I always love the view from Mt Aggie - unfortunately I couldn't see any of it today, but it's a lovely walk. Cache found without issue.
Thanks, Utta.

Amazing views, a nice walk this morning after hiking to Pryors hut last night. Found with Sophiescout. TFTC
Coming up here turned out to be an awesome walk, nice shady and great views.
Quick find, nice cache, all in good order.
Thank you Utta for putting the cache out and maintaining it.

Today is the 15th November 2020 and I managed to find 15 Caches for the day with my friend Loci612. It was an amazing day of caching. We had no DNFs for the day. We spent a total of almost 10 hours caching and I was dog tied at the end of it all. One of the highlights for the day were seeing a Blue Tongue and placing 3 new caches. In total I drove 100kms but I love geocaching so much and the friends I have made along the way make it all worthwhile.
I have included one of the Geocaching poems that I have written. I hope that anyone reading it likes it. Thanks for all the caches and sorry for the generic log for this cache but with 15 finds today it is hard to write a different one for each cache.
ALL CACHES WERE SIGNED DSD. ALL CACHES WERE FOUND IN GOOD ORDER UNLESS STATED OTHERWISE. THANKS FOR THE CACHE AND THE ADVENTURE.
I have included my one of a kind Geocache Poem with this log for future readers to enjoy.
Geocache Poem
By DARKSIDEDAN
My endless search goes on and on
Looking for treasures of every kind
Always chasing just one more find
Putting past DNF’s out of my mind
I step out into the world outside,
Seeking what is hidden from me
What size, shape or form will it be?
Only time will tell, I can’t wait to see
Will I find my prize at the end?
I will search in the failing light and cold
Filling with despair having looked everywhere
Where is this thing that gives my life pleasure?
Looking all around from every angle
I read the logs and check the hint
I curse out loud as I walk in circles
Screaming the bloody thing it not there
As time flies by and I fail to see,
Never once stopping to realize
It always been there before my eyes
No need for sorrow, there’s the Geocache.
***** I am currently writing more detailed logs than usual. This is because of a challenge provided by Project-GC called "The Author" Badge. "The Author" Badge challenges geocachers to write an average of one hundred words or more in each Found It log. As of 9th November 2020 my average was 160 words per log, which seems close to the 200 words per log target. However given that I have found so many GC caches, I have to write many logs with well over 100 words for a long period of time to get my average to the target. Apologies to anyone who finds the logs tedious but it is the only way that I can strive to attain this challenge. After 7600 plus caches (which includes all cache finds up and including yesterday), the average log length is just over 160 words. I am now entertaining the possibility that I might be able to achieve my task before this year ends. Progress has been better than anticipated.*****

We decided this cache needed a little bit of loving as it had been a year since the last find, and we weren't sure any others from today's adventure would do it as they were all tied up at the cache on top of Mount Gingera!
So we parked at the bottom after finding the cache there, and headed up the trail.
A surprisingly easy walk considering it is a peak, only one section was slightly steep, the rest was fairly flat with only a steady rise!
The views were spectacular at the top, and the sign was unexpected too. The cache was my favourite container type as well, so a favourite point for the great location and hide!
Thanks Utta

Wow! Such a nice view from up here. We made the trip out with family. Thanks for the cache.
Great afternoon up in the Brindis. More driving than walking which is definitely not the norm. Made it to the top of Mt Aggie bringing back lots of fabulous memories of our last visit.
Great short 2kn walk to a very picturesque location to find this cache. Had to momentarily stop to catch my breath on the way up. Beautiful, beautiful native flowers growing all the way up including between the rocks right to the top. Quick and easy find. TFTC Utta.

What great location. We came up here for a quiet Sunday hike. Awesome views. TFTC.

Day 12 of my MEGA road trip up to Oz Geomuster 2018 and back again saw me starting my day in the ACT and finishing it camping on the NSW side of the Murray river. A fantastic day with beautiful weather yet again and some nice hikes thrown in for good measure.
I was up bright and early, packed up camp and on the trail well before 7am. The sun was coming up and I was lucky enough to witness the wonderful sunrise on my way up.
Many thanks to Utta for the cache. TNLN.

A lovely trek, with interesting geology. Enjoyed as part of a day out and about around Mt Franklin. TFTC
A day out caching Brindabella Rd and surrounds South from there. Fanstastic views, will definantly be back. TNLNSL TFTC
We so enjoyed the organised expedition to Mt Franklin's four caches on Sunday that we decided (at 11am this morning) to come back and do some more of these high altitude geocaches today. So we drove GeoFalcon to the locked gate at Mt Ginini and cached back down the road from there.
We thought this was a reasonably easy walk until it started up hill. But hang on a bit - it is going to a lookout and they are generally higher. But the view at the top was incredibly worth it. And so was the cache!
Found at 3.25pm on 29th March 2016. TFTC.

More stunning views in this glorious part of the world! The track was still a bit of effort, not quite as easy as we had been led to believe, but a very enjoyable walk up. Fantastic lookout point but very windy! We didn't stop for a picnic today but made a quick find at GZ. Thanks Utta
A Canberra Bushwalking Club trip, thankfully joined by cachers Marmaduke Rothschild, ChifleyGrrrl, TikvaNZ, ZQX and MJW1 (and 6 muggles). I rode on their coat tails, usually arriving at the cache in time to check that someone had logged my name. I am an unprincipled cacher. Trip report at http://www.johnevans.id.au/wp/16-january-2016-blatant-brindabella-geocaching/ . TFTC.
Found with a bunch of other cachers. After signing the log, we headed over to join the bushwalkers who were enjoying the amazing views. We say down, had lunch and discussed things we could see in the distance. I had brought a pretty boring lunch, but that worked out well. If I had brought a sumptuous lunch I would have been so distracted by the view that I would not have noticed the food I was eating.

Found with five other cachers on a geocaching/bushwalking trip organised by JohnnyBoyACT through the Canberra Bushwalking Club. We did the quick search for the cache while the six non-caching bushwalkers in the group ate lunch and soaked in the views.
And what views they are! I've been up here a couple of times before and really think it is Canberra's best kept secret - really not far from the suburbs, easily accessible by 2WD most of the time, and a really not too difficult walk up from the carpark. For not a huge amount of effort you are rewarded with the most magical outlook down to the Brindabella Valley, out to the Bogong Mountains and Yarrangobilly Moutain on the horizon and Burrinjuck Dam, clearly visible 42 kilometres away. TFTC - hopefully it will do its bit to lure more people out here.

A week or so ago, I spotted a Canberra Bushwalking Club 'Blatant Brindabella Geocaching' walk for today lead by JohnnyBoyACCT, to find the caches along the western NSW-ACT border off Mt Franlin Road, so I immediately signed up and let ZQX know. I left home at 6am, and got back home at 6pm after finding 11 caches on the walk plus one other. The weather was perfect to be out in the hills. There were 6 cachers and 6 muggles in the 3 car group.
This was the third 'big' walk of the day (as opposed to near the road finds). A welcome lunch stop with awesome views. The cache was quickly spotted and the log signed. TFTC.

Found on a Canberra Bushwalking Club trip led by JohnnyBoyACT. 6 cachers and 6 muggles. Aim was to find a number of caches along the western border of the ACT. This was our lunch spot and what a beautiful view for lunch. TFTC.
Easily one of the best places to capture views of the valley and surrounding mountains, and not too hard to access. A fave from us. TFTC.
I always used to like this spot for the great tree free views (and the rocks). It was good to come back today for a cache and another look at the views. The breeze here was also quite refreshing.
Thanks
Thanks
Beautiful views up here. Found the cache with no hassles.
There is a suspucious looking pile of rocks up the top - we were sure the cache would be there. Haha thanks for the cache

Great location for this one. Beautiful views and lots of wild flowers. Retrieved the Mail Truck Travel Bug and will have to find another cache big enough to place it. We will try to get it back on track for Alice Springs.
Visiting, I took the opportunity to visit this cache read the log book, [put a smile on my dial did that], perform some preventative maintenance and drop a TB.
A beautiful spot to enjoy the views to NSW and the ACT. Love this area and the cache was an added bonus. TFTC
I worked for this one, I walked straight up the hill (200 metres) rather than the track (c500 metres) .
First cache of the day for me, on what was supposed to be a special ride to Mt. Gingera culminating in my 2,000th find. Unfortunately the distance and the short hike ate up too much time to make it past Mt. Ginini.
This was a great walk that we scrub bashed on the way up and found the fire trail on the way back. Boy, they could improve that signage! Fantastic views at the top and Mr Geo_Junkies has the cache out in no time. Everything in good nick in the ammo can.
Thanks Utta

Noikmeister and I found this cache today while on a mtb caching through the area. After leaving the bikes at the parking area, we made our way to GZ on foot. In typical fashion we found the hardest way to GZ missing the track completely. Upon arriving at GZ we were rewarded with stunning views. After locating the cache and signing the log, we spent a few minutes identifying the other mountains that we were heading out to climb.

Ahhh what a view and what a great cool breeze to just cool down with after 30+ temps down in Canberra.
So thanks for placing a cache up here,
So thanks for placing a cache up here,
This cache confirms two of my theories. McPhan consumes more than his fair share of oxygen, and that oxygen drains from hillsides. I was gasping for air due to both conditions being in play - clearly nothing to do with my state of fitness of course. But an excellent view down into the Brindabella valley on what was becoming a clear day. Thanks Utta.
Quick wander up this pretty easy track with McPhan and Winglen. Splendid, unexpected views across the Brindabella's, down to the settlement and across to many notable peaks.
Lovely! Thanks for the cache.

4072. [font=Century Gothic][green]This cache has taunted me for a while. Every time I've been in the area it's been just that bit too far to head off to due to time issues. Today was different and already having done 20k walking this was a doddle. Except for the bits that weren't. Certainly got the breath flowing on the way up. So much so that Mr W was oxygen deprived. A quick find at the top and then further up to enjoy the views - superb.

With Canberra day replacing my semi usual RDO caching Monday it was a great opportunity to get up in to the brindies and do some walking and caching.
The recent purchase of a new Graeme Barrow Book “Exploring Namadgi on foot” had given me some ideas for places to explore.
I find I treat these book as a bit of a bucket list. So a least today I got to tick 3 off before that foot bucket thing happens. 37 to go.
This was walk no.3 in the book.
On the drive up to Mt Aggie car park with about a 1km to go I encountered a 4WD towing a caravan coming the other way. He did seem a bit annoyed that I was in the way on this narrow one lane road. A bit of a shuffle got us on our ways but it did have me wondering. Especially seeing as there is a big sign further back along the road saying its unsuitable for caravans. It was also only 10 am in the morning so I assume he must have camped up here the previous evening. I think there is another sign saying camping is prohibited.
I guess this guy can't read?
Apart from the little van adventure this was another very enjoyable little walk.
Great views at the top across the Brindabella valley and the mountains around.
I stopped for a little while to enjoy my morning tea and the views.
Great fun. Thanks

The road up seems to be getting rougher and rougher, and the gate I was hoping would be open was not, so all the up here today. The track was very wet but a nice gentle walk to the top with a very rewarding view, and not much wind. Thanks.

A view? Not today very low cloud on Mt Aggie but still a great spot, love the lichen on the rocks. Great cache container and interesting swap items, took a carabiner and left a star, lightbulb magnet and Tongan coin.
There were a few late afternoon clouds around and some wisps of fog whipping over the hill, but there were enough breaks to appreciate the views that can be had from up here. What a great spot. TFTC, Took TB
Well, just happened to be up this way, so decided to visit this cache also! And what a great decision! Tromped up thru the crunchy snow (no orchids today), in beautiful winter weather! Not a breeze about. Found the cache, and decided to check out the view. Wow – as soon as you step up to the ridge, the view is breath taking! It just opens up all of a sudden, fantastic! Decided to take a full picture of the view – but still, it doesn’t do it justice! You will just need to go and check it out for yourself! Thanks Utta – fantastic cache!
A nice walk up from the carpark for great views - too bad it was a touch cold at about 4 degrees. The cachekids and I had a great time launching projectiles much to the dismay of rbirtles and his geowife.
A nice easy find by rbirtles cachekid but don't sit down to sign the log, man those rocks are sharp! This was a great lookout to visit and well worth carrying the cachekid on my shoulders most the way up.
Rirtles took the TB and I left my nice bug Yoshi TB. I think Yoshi is going to get cold up here though, so if the next cacher could move him along that would be nice. TFTC, we really like this one.

A day up here in the Brindabellas with family and the Newberys. A bit of a cold day (4C) with a sometimes stiff breeze but the views were well worth the time to get up here to a full ammo box. Kids had their fun picking from the items for trade and I took the trackable here before winter sets in and left a pathtag in its place. Many thanks for the cache!
Took the kids up to one my favourite spots. Picked up Clarence and dropped off a Lego man.

Was driving home from Melbourne, picked up a cache near Adelong, heard the ACT forecast for tomorrow, 35º and windy, Hmmmm, me thinks, that could be a fire ban, which means the road up here will be closed tomorrow.
So, I continued along the SMH to Tumut, then came up here via Brindabella and the Goodradigbee riiver from the West.
I have been up here before for SIMPLY FANTASTIC views, not windy then, not windy today either. FANTASTIC VIEWS.
Thanks for the top cache (though something funny about it and the UMP publishing a predate??????)

1979 - First find for the year, and a *FTF* as well !! Nice way to start the year !!
As Sol has said this was a real bonus as we were on our way up here anyway today - good caching Karma !
A simple uphill walk which - so I believe - is rewarded with views ???? Not for us today - but I'm sure they are great !!
Cache found, log signed and Cache replaced. I did take the Denver Hard Rock Cafe TB to spend some time with my HRC TB and then I'll release it into the world again soon.
Great cache - very nice and recommended.
Took TB - TFTC !!
Cheers....

Well, what a surprise this one was..........
Fitzy and I had planned (for a while now) to head out to today to grab/find, A Long Way To The Top and Stockyard Spur. Add to that, at least one of the two new Tankengine caches up that way, and it was going to be a big day. Thought I log on before leaving home just before 6.30, and what-do-you-know, a new cache.......and along the Mt Franklin Road at that...........
Arrived at the carpark at 8.30, (fog had visibility down to about 50 metres, so it made for a long trip up the mountain) and with no other cars around, it was a good sign that some of my early morning rising friends, might not be on the job today. We simply followed the trail to the top of the mountain and the cache was quickly found. From there, we wandered over to a large rock area and looked out over..........the fog. Unfortunately, it was one of those........."nothing to see here folks, move along" type moments. Pity really.
My camera was back in the car, but Fitzy had his and will post photo's when he logs..........hopefully tomorrow. However, if you want to see what its like, check out my log "A Long Way To The Top", because the fog was still as bad when we reached that summit a little later in the day.
Lots of coins and TB in this cache at the time, so we didn't add to them.
Thanks Utta for the *FTF*..........I'm sure the views are good.
