Even with 4 sets of eyes, a PAF, 2 muggles and a dog, this cache eluded us today. Thanks for bringing us to this lovely area anyway.

A quick find on our trek from Mildura to St Arnaud on roads less traveled. Came on this particular track to pick up a couple of trigs. Tried the most obvious spot first and then found the cache in a spot I'd never have tried on my own. TFTC

Not as quick as some but at least we had success. Driving to Warracknebeal on our way to Alice Springs for the Event over Easter. TFTC Tigersden. Signed log as SG as I often do in small caches.

The geofamily, minus one, is off on another holiday to Mexico.

No joy for us again today but we have some ideas of what we might be looking for after lengthy discussion while driving to the next cache.

I think I need a hint from the CO

This was unbelievable... so many places to float a boat!
The GPS'r wanted us to search in an area that was actually underwater. Somehow that did not fit the hint at all! The elevation tool was no advantage in seeking higher authority! Spider webs everywhere, but one final check **somewhat above a terrain of 1.5,** H-P had fingers on the cache and we were relieved to add our name to the log, before continuing to cache our way around the back roads among the rich, green and gold colors of crops in the paddocks, which stretched as far as we could see today. The sheep and cattle all loooked in top condition.

Satellites today had our GZ 11 metres SSE of where we found the cache.

Our thanks to tigersden for placing this cache.

This one took a little while to find. Lucky no muggles about. Coords off a bit but the clue helped to locate it. Cheers.

03-Jun-16
Had no boat to float but still enjoyed this lovely area. It was much more impressive than we expected as our GPS was showing lakes a little further back and there was no water to be seen there!
Mr Beetle had this one before I even got out of the campervan with the GPS.
Thanks, a great spot.

Cool FOUND IT !!!!! Yippee, after a dnf a call past with muggles around the gz, this time after nearly an hour of fruitless searching, had my trusty ladder out, not needed because I found nothing, nearly gave up when local council rubbish truck turned up [ I bet he wondered what I was doing with the ladder , he didn't ask ] continued searching. Again looked into what the hint might mean, ah har went looking and my finger felt something but it would not move, went back to geotruck [tb] for a screwdriver and got it, **YES****** TFTC

A long weekend and another trip with the geo 'rents and geobro'. What a cool way to spend Easter Cool
Headed for Albury for 2 nights and then Bendigo for 1 night and we took each day as the caches came. A turn here, a turn there, a dirt track here and there and miles and miles of bitumen [^]
LOL, I've just seen one of geobro's cache logs and it reads very much like mine SurprisedWink
Although he forgot to mention that he not so kindly shared his viral germs with geomum and I! [xx(]
Today (day 4) I found 26 caches Smile and had 2 DNFs Sad

DNF! Sad Our first DNF for the day.
We came and searched and searched and searched to no avail Sad
Now that is really not floating my boat Sad

We're off on a four day geofamily (Geodad: moneydork, Geomum:Tounga, Geosis: locus cache and geobro: ME) road trip adventure heading to Albury and Bendigo. A lot of miles were covered, many sights seen, lots of laughs, mirth and merriment during the trip. Oh, we found a few caches along the way as well. Day 4 was going home day.

No joy for us today.

Fairly convinced we know where this one is but lack the ability to get higher. Was fanatastically windy there today.

This one took a bit of finding. Boosted CRZcooper to multiple places we thought the cache may have been hiding, checking for every sneaky hide we could think of, no joy, phone a friend, subtle hints had us on our way to signing the cache, Love this lake, and great to see its still full of water, looks fantastic. tftc

Travelling around Australia with our Cat.

Staying a few days in St Arnaud today we decided to head out towards Donald and surrounds.

We had a great day which included seeing lot's of historic sites and 3 very scenic hilltop caches.

No water here today. Amazing to have seen where the flood levels were in 2011 though. Took a bit of work
to make the find but thinking about the hint and sure enough there was the sucker.

Thanks for placing your cache to add to our exploration of this area tigersden Cool

Beautiful winters day at the lake for a picnic and found this little surprise. TFTC

11-May-15
Keep on searching

03-May-15
This was our third visit which occurred following discussions with a friend. The coordinates take you to a spot which is actually 5-6 meters from the cache, which is well out of the accuracy errors expected from our equipment. Good luck to future hunters.

09-Feb-15
Not sure about hint so need reach but terrain said 1.5 anyway DNF for me. Thanks.

21-Jan-15
Second visit, found decoy. Notes by others indicate they only found it with hints from friends. Would be great if better hints could be given to everyone.

21-Jan-15
I have upgraded the difficulty to 3, seeing as people are complaining that they need a better hint.
The hint already provided is sufficient enough. Good luck.

Just about to admit defeat then we re-read previous log entries referring to its cunning location...that provided inspiration and we found it. We spent about 30 minutes searching high and low. Very impressed with the hiding spot. We left a small bulldog clip behind...well done and thank you to the hider of the cache.

04-Oct-14
Had a good look but no luck today Sad

04-Jan-14
Didn't find today!!

29-Dec-13
Narrowed it down to 1 tree and can't find it.

19-Aug-13
Well this one had been a bug bear of mine for a while.

I dropped by here after dark on the 30/7 to find this cache. I found it, or at least I thought I had (I hadn't read back through the logs).

Something didn't seem right. I have found a number of tigersden caches before and this one just didn't look right. I messaged the CO who informed me that this was a replacement and I hadn't found the real one.....

I needed to head back again! Life got in the way until tonight. I had a hockey meeting in Charlton and figured what's 20 or so kilometres. On the way home I diverted.

So out I get and the first thing I decided to do was to remove the fake cache. Then I heard something.....someone was nearby. I shone the torch around......who's there???? Creepy!

With no visitor found the search for the cache was on. With the torch out I went over every nearby possibility looking for the cache......and there is was again. Where was that noise coming from? Who's there????

About 3 metres away I heard a familiar splat......where had I heard that before? Another splat, this time closer......AND IT CLICKED.

I stepped back rapidly and shone the torch up the tree to find my voyeur was a ringtail possum! That splat was possum urine hitting the ground from a great height.

After another search I noticed something, just a hint but it was the hint that I needed. I soon swooped and grabbed the cache.

Well tigersden, it was an adventure that took two visits, and for me that deserves a favourite. TFTC

23-Jun-13
No luck

23-Jun-13
Found after a harder look

30-May-13
Found the replacement . Will have a good look when I've got more time.

01-Apr-13
Didn't find it, and due to the two previous DNFs I replaced the cache in a spot I thought was the obvious choice, but the cache owner has confirmed that the cache is not in that spot. Therefore next finder that finds the replacement please remove it and look for the real cache which is probably still there.

31-Mar-13
Might bring a ladder next time....

22-Mar-13
Searched for a while but no luck.

22-Feb-13
Took a few weeks to get this one, every time I went to this location there were mugglers everywhere. Finally got it last weekend by luck, coast was clear tftc.

26-Aug-12
tricky one, but found it, a few muggles for a monday at a lake. TFTC

Find #89 No. 4 of 5 for today. Found at 5.09pm with FUF009, on our way home after takeing a leisurely drive to Donald in the arvo and do a bit more caching.
The find was okay but getting it back was a bit difficult as the muggle 'boys in blue' showed up and drove around the area. Had to wait for them to leave and all was well.

Find #222 @ 1709
No. 4 for today

Found with Tyred n Cranky. Headed up to Donald to finish off getting all the caches up and around there. got this one on the way home.

Had an easy find. The hardest part was getting it back into it hide, as the dreaded Muggle "boys in blue" drove into the area. had to wait them out, got it back ok.

I remember attempting this one only to find the area underwater some time ago. Today the water level was in a much more cachable level so after a littlesearch the log was signed and re-hid. Maybe my boat will visit someday. TFTC

Funny when finders don't like spider webs. They retrieve faster Smile
Nice spot for a picnic or camping too.

27-Jun-12
I was sure I had this one but could not get to the log sheet but consultation with the CO has me in the wrong spot.
I will return for another look, hopefully in time to log some love time!Wink

This one is still here.

After taking on fuel and a couple of sandwiches in Witchy we thought we would have lunch at the lake and maybe look for this cache. It too had some prior negative logs but we found updated coords in the logs and thought it was worth a try. No luck so we guess it has definitely gone missing and needs replacing. The lake however was a nice spot to eat our sandwiches.

14-Apr-12
Looked in all likley spots but only saw spider webbs
As we have given up climbing on the furniture we enjoyed the location Put aa big DNF on the paperwork

maybee next time we are passing we will look again

Well, we came past about 3pm but it seems the water is still too high for GZ however ''Spiders Rule" in the BBQ shelter!!! Been no housework done there in a while! Maybe by the time we come by again!

19-Apr-11
Unfortunately GZ was underwater and I did not want to risk getting too wet trying to retrieve cache. Next time Smile

23-Mar-11
GZ still looks like If's photo in the log below. Interesting to see the water all around the electric power poles for campers and lapping around the electric BBQ. Didn't have our waders with us today to reach the cache GZ so pressed on to the next cache.

21-Feb-11
I found this delightful wayside travellers rest by the lake this morning Smile
It was a bit cold and windy here though and the place was deserted.
So off I bounded eager for a quick cache find Razz
Bother !! GZ was about 10 metres out into the lake and surrounded by 1 to 2 foot of water.
Not wanting to get me tootsies wet I left this one for another day Red Face

03-Jan-11
Ok, we have now replaced this one in a slightly more dryer hide.

Maybe we should rename this one to NOW I CAN FLOAT ME BOAT...lol

28-Dec-10
Thanks to fellow cachers for informing us that this cache is under water.

We will be checking this one on the way back from Ballarat on Monday.

27-Dec-10
Lake full of water believe cache to be under water. Please check.

27-Dec-10
After 2 successful finds we thought we'd continue caching while the geokids were still interested. Arriving at the posted co-ordinates we discovered this beautiful spot. The lake was high due to recent rainfall, and the water was lapping at the bbq's Surprised. We have got a good idea where the cache is, but unfortunately we didn't have a boat to assist....and we didn't feel like wading through the shallows. Will try again when the water level subsides. Tigersden, if the cache is underwater can you please post a note for fellow geocachers. Thanks

13-Nov-10
Had to go to St Arnaud, so tried this one on the way. Absolutely pelted down with rain, and couldn't spend too much time out and about, so left it for another time. The Lake looks fantastic, which is lovely to see, and we will be returning to try again on a better day.

10-Jul-10
3rd find of 662 overall finds.

With an insufficient reason to head over to Stawell for a work commitment I had to find another reason to add on and make the trip worthwhile. Caching was the obvious addition even though the weather was shocking - very windy and quite cold and wet.

The trip was a bit of an indirect route via a few towns not visited before so a good chance to see what's 'out west'.

A quick find even after finding something I hadn't intended finding.
TNLN
Thanks tigersden

Found by Mary & David at 0805. Well you can't float your boat here, so save the journey and leave it at home. Only one little puddle left that could only take a bath toy. Such a pity to see such great facilities not being used. Our thanks to tigersden.

30-May-10
Will try again soon

26-Apr-10
There can't be any inland water left when you see places like this.
I liked the flood marker. Wonder when it last came into play.
nice one

I've been boating, swimming & fishing here in years gone by.
The lake is to be filled in the near future using water saved by the replacement of the channels with a pipeline.
It took me to No. 3!

Thanks tigersden another great cache.

01-Mar-10
We pulled up here to an all too familiar sight these days where in times gone by there would have been boats and people swimming you could now safely drive a vehicle. If the area ever rejuvenates at least there are some great facilities here but for the time being we were more interested in finding a cache. We started to search near where we parked the car and we are happy to say that we also had a score of 2.
Thanks tigersden for an interesting cache

26-Jan-10
Water skiing was out today as the tide was out, and had been for a very long time!
Cunning hide the only thing we had that fits the container was a pencil rubber.
Keep up the good work Tigersden.

24-Jan-10
A quick stop to break up the trip. This must have been a great spot when the lake was full but looks like that hasn't happened for a while.

13-Jan-10
Found by Roma and Max.
What a great place for a picnic, with all the necessary facilities and all in top notch condition.
We had a similar experience to the previous finder with a score of 2!
We left our mark in the log and thank you again tigersden for this challenge.
