As this cache has been out of action for too long, I'm archiving it to keep it from continually showing up in search lists, and to prevent it from blocking other cache placements. If you wish to repair/replace the cache sometime in the future, just contact us (by email), and assuming it meets the guidelines, we'll be happy to unarchive it.

Hi

It appears that this cache has been inactive for quite some time. Is it going to be replaced or should it be archived to make room for possible future caches? If the cache owner does not contact me within Three Weeks, I'll assume the cache needs to be archived.

While I feel that Geocaching.com should hold the location for you and block other cachers from entering the area around this cache for a reasonable amount of time, we can't do so forever. Please either repair/replace this cache, or archive it so that someone else can place a cache in the area, and geocachers can once again enjoy visiting this location. Also, if you haven’t done so already, please pick up any remaining cache bits as soon as possible.

I want to thank you for the time that you have taken to contribute to geocaching in the past and am looking forward to seeing your cache up and running in the future.

Thanks for your understanding,

Regards,
TheCur8or

After the nearby event, I returned with someone who had found this cache before. He confirmed that the plants at GZ were gone as well as the cache. Please archive.

I'm sure I got the final coords, but there seems to be no sign of the cache.

No LUCK HERE

Another year and the first trip for the team out and about while none of us had to work the following day. So todays little jaunt was to be up and arounf the Clevedon Maretai areas to see what we could get before sleep took hold of us. On this adventure in attenence were HKCB, iammrwalker and RWIMF. Departing Hamilton at 7pm after doing the pickups it was with high spirits and high expectations for another good caching year with plenty of miles to be covered before returning home tomorrow morning.

We hoped to get about 50 for the evening and my final taly was 57 finds along with 2 DNF's, not bad for a bunch of beginners.
What a great start, soon started to get into the swing of things and before long we were coolkng with gas.

THanks to all the cache owners whom placed the caches for us to find this evening. Am sure that we will be back again soon to continue our travels

It's been a while since we have done a night mission, so with a few ideas thrown about we settled on heading to the Beachlands/Maraetai area for a bit of a clean out and to locate the two night caches in the area. The team consisted of RWIMF, iammrwalker, Cats&Dragons and myself (HKCB), which meant we signed the logs as RICH an accornym of our caching names.

Leavng home about 7pm we cached through the night, with the goal to reach my 7000th find, unfortunately the late night counting wasn't accurate enough which meant I was 1 short of that goal, but still 67 finds for the night wasn't a bad effort. We all had a great night, and found a handful of really good geocaches as well. A big thanks to all the CO's for the placements.

Had a really good look at GZ, but this one eluded us. As it hasn't been found in a while not sure if it has gone, or if we missed it.

A nice little multi, but unfortunately I couldn't locate the cache at the final.

28-Feb-16
Nice easy multi, tftc

25-Feb-16
A late night one to keep our streak going. After attempting this one before (I wont mention how many times) we needed one close by so off we went. With the help of stevecoxnz we soon had cache in hand. TFTC

06-Feb-16
We attempted this one today but when we got to GZ the was a nasty hornets nest so we decided not to risk it. Will come and do when it's a bit safer

Out and about with Emyvalie and Mr HeMaLuDy.

Started at WP1 this morning and had a look for this but no luck so moved on and got all the way to the other end of Maraetai Beach before returning as the cars were parked near here. Arranged for some assistance from Mr NZT. It took him a few moments of searching this way and that to locate it again but it is definitely there still as our names were soon added to the log Smile.

Thanks for the cache.

Found whilst out with some others enjoying a walk along the beach.

Thanks for the cache.

Out with Keylev, Cragger, Laval & Emyvalie. A nice afternoon showing Emyvalie what caching is all about. With a failed search earlier in the day everyone returned here for another look. Getting the assistance of Mr NZT (who found it previously) certainly helped. TFTC

It seems to have mysteriously come back to life. Enabling.

All is well with this cache apart from a damp log which is still writable. I don't think Gadgetron is around here anymore. Not 100% sure.

29-Sep-15
TFTC. No need to archive the cache. Despite the lack of attention to it for so long I had a good look for it after NZT insisted that it was still there. They were correct. It was pretty much spot on the co-ords as well. The hint is also pertinent.

21-Sep-15
I noticed that this cache has been in need of owner attention for a period of time well in excess of the period of "a few weeks" as contemplated by the cache guidelines published on Geocaching.com. While I feel that Geocaching.com should hold the location for you and block other caches from entering the area around this cache for a reasonable amount of time, we can't do so forever. Please either repair/replace this cache, or archive it (using the archive listing link in the upper right) so that someone else can place a cache in the area, and geocachers can once again enjoy visiting this location.

If you plan on repairing this cache, please log a note to the cache (not email) within the next 30 days so I don't archive the listing for non-communication.

3 DNF's on the trot & no action since the start of the year doesn't bode well for this cache. May well have disappeared.

01-Feb-15
Pretty sure we were looking in the right spot but no success after some serious hunting.

01-Feb-15
Checked and re-checked the coordinates and searched for quite some time but no luck

11-Jan-15
We were here yesterday when the place was infested with muggles . . . . .we had a quick scout around and came up empty handed. Headed out here again this morning with the same co-ordinates calculated and yet again came away empty handed. It will have to wait for some oher day. Sad

Tried and failed finding this cache so many times in the past, it had become our most difficult cache to find, ever. Over the 2.5 years of trying, with so many hints from other cachers (and photos) we could never find the cache. Out for an early Saturday drive today with renewed info and a huge nudge to its location, all fingers and toes were crossed, we would finally get a yellow smiley.

Made GZ, and the search began. After an eternity and still no luck, PAF for help. Got a few more hints, and then with a last gasp, found it. The relief to get this one ticked off is huge. Perhaps this cache has suffered from cache creep (our coords were a fair way out so no wonder we never found it) and the hint hardly applies for where it was found today. Returned cache to the location it was found.

Glad to finally knock this yellow smiley off.

TFTC.

Was visiting muggle friends in this area and I introduced him to geocaching while we walked the dog. I enjoyed the beach walk. He was impressed that I had found it just where he had looked. TFTC.

05-Apr-14
A stunning day for this multi. We are on a roll with multis. This was easily calculated with Miss NZTraveller and friend solving the clues. A couple of recorrections to the math required but GZ located and log signed.

12-Jan-14
Calculated the final but as others I couldn't find the cache. I recalculated with the same result and trusted the coords this time. After some more search I was rewarded with the cache. TFTC

09-Dec-13
Enjoyable little puzzle and made the find quickly. Pleasant walk on the beach after finding it. TFTC

Great winters day to make a trip to the local beach. Was pleased only a few people out and about so were able to scout around and find the cache. Cheers - Log a bit wet.

In the area for Maraetai triathlon tomorrow, staying just a short walk from this spot. We'd walked right past the plaque this morning without knowing anything about this cache, and then came back for a quick reccy to collect the required info. Went for an evening walk to find a few caches, including the final of this one. Nice easy find, but had to sit and wait a while for people to walk past before we could replace it

Forgot to mention that the log is a bit damp, and part has torn off. Still writeable though

05-Feb-13
Found the co-ordinates but there was family having a picnic right on GZ. We decided to have a little picnic as well and maybe they might leave by the time we got bored. They didn't move. Hopefully we can come back to this one.

18-Jan-13
A nice multi which I almost thought I wouldn't find the final for - when that last 'Oh I'll just look here...' comes up with the goods. Log wet. t4tc

Thanks for bringing me to this location. This is what geocaching is all about. A quick find on a warm, sunny and superb geoday.
Thank you for placing this cache.

23-Sep-12
Thought we would give this one a go as we were in the area. Expected a real tricky hunt for the final but must of struck it lucky and trusted our GPS. Co-ords spot on for us. Log book slightly damp but still writeable. TFTC

13-May-12
Frustratingly couldnt find this cache yet again after a few other attempts. Took a tip off Neatad as to its location, seemingly a long way out from out GZ coords off the multi. Gave it another crack today, for a very long time. Still cant find this pesky cache. All I did find was a very active wasp nest and that is our signal to leave. Maybe another day for this smiley.

25-Feb-12
Took quite a hunt at final. Should have trusted the co-ords i came up with. Tftc

29-Jan-12
#115, Quite a tricky final, almost gave up, then there it was. TFTC

30-Oct-11
Found the rocky retreat but not the cache.

06-Jun-11
Found WP1 easily and did the calculations for the final coords. Moved on to the final and arrived at GZ with a carload of muggles playing soccer. Sat her for awhile until they moved on so that we could search for the cache. Took a little while to locate the container but got there in the end! Big GrinBig Grin TNLNSL - TFTC!

05-Jun-11
Nice multi - easy find but clever placement. TFTC

23-Apr-11
Out with the Future Finder today finding caches in Beachlands and Maraetai. Found WP1 with no trouble. I am starting to wonder if there is an historical palque attached to a very large lump of wood that doesn't have a geocache associated with it? Wink Headed off to the final, but was left standing in a bare patch of grass...oops. I figured that there was a good chance that the cache was nearby and started to search a nearby GZ. But when I got a poke in the eye [B)] from some resistant vegetation I thought I should just go back to WP1 and recheck my calculations. Quickly identified my addition error and headed back to GZ (I had guessed right earlier) to perform a more confident search. Came up with the final straight away. Cheers for the cache! Smile

great afternoon walk.thanks

found the waypoint, but cache was hiding from us... !

26-Dec-10
Nice straightforward multi. GZ for the final was really busy but managed to find quite quickly and everyone seemed to be minding their own business in the sun. TFTC.

23-Oct-10
The cache description didn't download to the 62s properly so had to ring home but no-one there, then tried one of my daughters. She gave me the questions that I had to find the answers for so that I could progress to the final.

The Crime Patrol were out having a drive around and they passed me several times in my wanderings around Beachlands this morning. I was a good boy.

Cheers for the cache.

23-May-10

Nice day, easy find, not too many beach goers out today

27-Feb-10
Nice bit of history at the waypoint. Derived the co-ords and headed for the final. Found after a small search. Needed a bit of stealth even at this hour of the morning. Our 4th cache before breakfast! Thanks.

We had just worked out the coordinates for this one the other night when a notification come through so we needed another visit tonight to complete the find. A pleasant evening for caching in such a great area T4TC.

There was no-one around at this time of the morning, no doubt it will be like Queen St on Friday night later in the day. Thanks.
