Cache was lying on the ground, maybe fallen from somewhere? Couldn't find an obvious place it had come from so just put it in a crevice with some sticks on top. It was just below what I would have counted as "5 down".
Found - Mrs McMike2012 & I live full-time in our caravan travelling around NZ, visiting the places we want to visit & doing the things we want to do and fitting in a bit of Geocaching here & there we are currently heading South again & are staying nearby in Wanganui came out for a wander around here today as Mrs McMike2012 like all things Botanical ended up being an easy find, signed the logbook & then we replaced the cache were pleased to add another 'smiley face' to the tally TFTC ... TN:LN:LS #5,945 for Us!
Had to use hint and look both sides of road then found lying on the ground put back in 4 down aroha and happy caching
What a brilliant treasure these gardens are. If it wasn't for Geocaching, I would never have known it was here, that's for sure.
After looking in several places, I studied the hint again and then went straight to the cache.
Kimmy+co got her hands on this one first, and Hayzz was too far 'up' to and I was on the wrong side of theroad
Out with geeves90 and hayzz. Have come up from Wellington for a long weekend of exploring
On a weekend visit to Whanganui. Found this lovely park and decided to try and find this cache. Like others took a while to getthe right spot, but was glad when we did. nice cache container. SL. TFTC.
A bit of working out to do and once on the right side of the road (my GPS was actually correct for once), it was a fun, easy find!
A nice quick find, once the hint was decyphered, and we were on the correct side of the road! Thanks for placing your cache. Ms_KR and I are on the road again, up "North" to visit family and friends. Today we cruised around Whanganui. We had some decent rain overnight, but it cleared up nicely mid morning.Occassionally signed MK+KR on cache logs, and apologies for the generic logs. Thanks to all CO's for publishing and maintaining their caches.
#14,492. We enjoyed strolling through the Bason Botanic Gardens in Westmere. The GZ was all quiet at the time of our visit. Found after a bit of search after widening the area a little. The cache, which was now not a 200 ml Sistema, was in good condition, all nice and dry inside. Took nothing, left nothing, signed log.*Thanks for the geocache placement, and for bringing us to this site, and **.T h a n k s. .f o r. .t h e. .c a c h e.**.M a u r u u r u. .k o e. .n u i. .a t u. .h o k i. .t e. .k e t e r o k i.*
Another find on our walk around the park. First to sign the replacement log. Nice to see a big cache!! These trees have been here a while! TFTC
Out with rattll at the Bason Gardens on a breezy Sunday. Came up the hill from the fernery, hopped off the road to find this cache. Seemingly quite exposed when there was a much more suitable hide immediately beside. Having signed the cache, I returned and tucked away the container so that it wasn't quite so obvious. Tftc!
Over from Adelaide Australia as an expat kiwi, catching up with friends and revisiting areas Ive lived in before, Wanganui being one of themand of course picking up the odd cache along the wayFound cache about 13m away from GZ, log stamped and returned as foundTFTC
I was rather concerned about previous DNFs but perservered with this one. Once I got the right row of trees on the upper side of the road it was soon found. The hint is correct but the coordinates were about 14m out. All is well with the contents, thanks Firewoof for another placement in these lovely gardens. We enjoyed our visit today.
After an unsuccessful search a few months ago, it feels GOOD to find it! Great spot. Higher up than our initial search! Getting a bit damp. Tried to seal it up as well as possible.
Caching our way through the gardens following the AdLab trail.
I got myself on the wrong side of the path so I ended up counting and searching all the wrong trees. Eventually the Penny dropped, I relocated and made a quick find.

This took a bit of finding as coordinates wanted us on other side of road. Eventually I thought of something to count and managed to unearth the cache. There was a lot of water in the cache but the log was dry. TFTC

Well, this was a lot easier, when the cache is actually there to locate. Nice quick find and we were pleased to be able to turn this frown upside down and now it's a smilie TFTC

Staying in Whanganui for a few nights, todays trip was to the gardens here. We were originally searching the wrong ones, then Juniot says ‘I reckon it’s here’. It was.
Thanks!
Thanks!
exellent find and last for the day 5.30pm now to hed for home.found log book all wet .put some dry pages in new ziplok bag into cache but needs maintance.
(# 7443) On a trip to Whanganui for the famous Rattl Christmas gig. A quick find. Thanks for bringing me here.
Thanks for replacing before todays event. There was a few of us lingering from the new AL site when Rhubarb and I diverted up the hill to this one. We were soon joined by MrMcGoo. All good here.
Had a quick look for this but we were so wet with the rain at this point we didn't hang around for too long. Will have to return another day. TFTC
This was a DNF for us - we looked and looked but couldn't find any cache.
Will put it on the watchlist as have to wonder about the previous 'finder' and whether they actually located this cache.

Yay found it. May need a new outer layer but log was dry.
It’s day 106 of being stranded in NZ. Thanks to lockdown and trans Tasman bubble pause, all my flights have been cancelled. I am (im)patiently waiting for more flights to open up to get home to my family in Australia.
Having been housebound due to restrictions (and taking a tumble at the local plaza ending up in a moon boot and crutches) I decided to reactivate my geocaching app and go a hunting. Certainly less scary in Nz. No snakes or dangerous spiders to contend with!!!

Last time I was here the gps wouldn't settle so I gave up, today I had the co with me, that made it a lot easier, tftc
Hint was a bit far fetched but I found eventually after thinking about where would I put a cache
Took a little while and a lie down to find it, had to branch out on our efforts but we're able to find it.
Travelled from palmy, to get my out driving on the open road, and walking outdoor, in a place such as Bason Botanic Gardens. After walking through fern house, and headed towards the cache. The Botanic Gardens is amazing, thanks for bringing me here and thanks for the cache.
Holiday Time
A gorgeous day to explore the Bason Botanical gardens with the cousins, (too windy for the beach).
This was a comfortable walk with a bit of a stump when deciphering the hint. After a few false starts the cache was soon in hand.
Then we were off to try the multi.

Found! On the wrong side of the road for a while, but finally understood the hint! Thank you
Yay we found it, great day for a walk, never actually realised how big the basin reserve is
Cache # 4,946 - As others have commented, the coordinates put you in the middle of the road. Took 3 of us (2 who previously found it a long time ago) helped, and still took 20 minutes. eventually finding it in a place the we had already searched 3 times. Signed log and returned, and also grabbed some (hopefully) better coordinates for folks:

Second day of my weekend in Wanganui (from Wellington) and before heading home my plan was to visit the lovely Bason Botanic gardens. Slightly overcast and breezy today meant that most of the time I was alone and unobserved, which really is the perfect conditions. As described the GPS was all over the place, so I started looking for things I could apply the hint too - Ironically I got it right on my forth try. All good here, TFTC.
A day in the Whanganui region caching today and spent part of it zigzagging around Bason Gardens. A quick grab and sign. Thanks for the cache.
When I arrived the GPS zeroed out in the middle of the road which did not bode well. So I went straight to the hint instead which most assuredly helped get to the right place. TFTC.
Nice hint for this one quickly yielded the cache in a pretty quick time. Signed and returned before we were off for the next one
I spent a very pleasant hour exploring the Bason Botanic Reserve. A lovely spot to visit. I looked in the wrong area to start with, once I expanded the search area I soon found it. TFTC
