Cleaned up this site 5th April2010 oz mega great event

16-Apr-10
1173 05/04/20010. baby&Mrs gopher attended the OZ MEGA cleanup. Thanks to all of the geocachers who attended also.baby was dreading pulling out all those star piquets that were put in place to make things a little more defined.Even the fence went into place without me getting caught on the barbed wire.Every one did a great job. Thanks to all again

16-Apr-10
The Farmers 5 gang, including all the kids cleaned up around the coke vans and along the fence lines .The cleanliness of all the campers overall made it a easier task on the final day anyway. The fact that 4 skip bins were completely full afterwards is good testament that just about all rubbish made it to those bins.Well done to all those geocachers for the attitude of keeping all the reserves and campgrounds clean that even the Managers commented on afterwards.

14-Apr-10
After packing up our campsite, we donned some blue gloves to join the emu parade.

07-Apr-10
Assisted with the clean up after the MEGA Event.

07-Apr-10
Thanks for the Gloves Smile

07-Apr-10
Contributed by maintaining a clean campsite at the MEGA Event and by cleaning urubbish (much of it pre MEGA Event rubbish) before heading off.
Thanksfor a gret weekend.

07-Apr-10
Thanks to all that helped us out, this was a big credit to all involved, we did an inspection of the grounds before handing back the key and we could not find anything to pick up, well done everyone. Also who ever moved all those tyres back thank you so much, I was not looking forward to it, but when I went to do it, it was already done. WOW

I think all that camped, done a great job at keeping their own area clean, a credit to all that camped on site! The more I'm involved with geocaching the more impressed I am with the community of warm friendly people.

Cheers

07-Apr-10
Helped with what little there was to pick up. It makes me proud to be a
geocacher to see how everyone was responsible and cleaned up after
themselves. 99% of the rubbish we picked up was old and not part of the
event. Thanks to all of the other teams and the organisers.

07-Apr-10
Smile Only too glad to help after such an excellent event, there wasn't a hell of a lot to clean up though. Alas we couldn't stay longer as we had a long drive ahead of us and wanted to do some caching along the way. Once again congratulations on a fantastic event.

07-Apr-10
Was happy to help out my mate BoyRacer pull out star-pickets and deconstruct the stage.

07-Apr-10
We where both glad to help out. Camp ground was pretty clean. Cleaned up as much as we could.

06-Apr-10
Difficult to find much, think my car had more in it than the event.

06-Apr-10
Picked up a little in our bag but it was all so clean already. Thanks all

06-Apr-10
You wouldn't have known there was a large event stage here bar the tyre tracks. Picked up a rubbish bag and had trouble locating any rubbish. Thanks to all who left their site clean. Bring on the next Mega event.

06-Apr-10
Attended with the whole family and many other teams.

Happy to be able to help clean up the site and give something back to the organisers and the Scout Camp

Thanks For The Event

06-Apr-10
Such a clean site to clean up! Geocachers do the right thing.

05-Apr-10
Wow! I thought I had logged this at the time but now realise I had overlooked it. A rather belated log sorry, but I definitely assisted in the clean-up.

05-Apr-10
Arrived at 9:30, Only to find a lot of the work done
Many hands make light work
Thanks guys

05-Apr-10
We helped out and cleaned up not just around our campsite but also around the communal areas. I must say there was not much rubbish around, a great testiment to the calibure of attendees. Well Done everyone.

05-Apr-10
Many hands make light work. A true saying with everyone in action this morning. The fun part for us was bursting balloons... for the first few! Main rubbish we picked up were the small clear pathtag bags and tiny pieces if Easter egg foil wrappers. With all the helpers, the site was looking good and clean, and the place was getting back to normal.

05-Apr-10
Cleaned up a fair bit since there wasn't a huge amount to clean up. Thanks!!!

05-Apr-10
I must say there was not much rubbish but it was a good way to get the logo

05-Apr-10
This would have to be one of the fastest CITO cleanups we've seen - the campers did a great job of looking after their own sites throughout the weekend, so there wasn't much to clean up in the end. Kids had a great time filling their bags ... if only we could get them to clean up so well at home!!

Thanks again to the organisers for a fantastic weekend, we had a ball.

05-Apr-10
Helped Mummy and Daddy clean up around our tent, and down at the stage after all the dancing last night.

05-Apr-10
Helped Mummy and Daddy clean up around our tent, and down at the stage after all the dancing last night.

05-Apr-10
Well, we didn't do a lot, because there wasn't that much to do, partly because everyone was great in looking after their own garbage and partly, we think, because some keen youngsters were out early, well done to them.

05-Apr-10
Almost a non event thanks to it being one of the cleanest campsites for such a large group.

05-Apr-10
We returned to pick up the local paper and do our bit for the cleanup.
Said good by to a lot of new friends and headed home.
Thanks for the event!
See you all next time.

05-Apr-10
Picked up all the rubbish I could find near our camp, not ours incidently, and also collected a fair number of the site markers and nails before hitting the road home. It's worth noting, I think, that the area was pretty clean before the clean up began which is a credit to the cachers who attended.
Thanks indeed.

05-Apr-10
Not much to clean up after all campers left their site spotless and all the eager children got stuck into it.
The Scouts will not have anything to complain about. A job well done.

05-Apr-10
The Oz Mega campers were a pretty tidy bunch overall, except for the committee leaving A4 sheets all over the camping area (with site numbers etc on them), and the mess team crackers had made over in the other paddock.
All this "mess" was being cleaned by a good crowd of attendees.

05-Apr-10
Great job everyone. The camp area was somewhat cleaner when we left than when we arrived. Hopefully the grass will recover!

05-Apr-10
Arrived in perfect timing...all the cleaning had been done Smile Tried to pack up what we could while we said goodbye. Thankyou for the amazing mega event everyone!

05-Apr-10
I turned up at 10am only to find the work had been done! Geocachers can always be replied to keep an area clean (take note Parks Victoria and NSW). Despite putting my back out yesterday I moved around some tyres with Ozjeeper and had a chat.

Many thanks for a great weekend and to all the other cachers for making light work of this today.

05-Apr-10
Joined La Kedi in the fireworks area picking up lots of spent casings and recalling the spectacular display put on for us by Team Crackers. Thanks guys for an awesome night's entertainment. Despite the number of people staying at the site, it was remarkably free of rubbish, so well done everyone.

05-Apr-10
After such a fabulous event I thought it fitting to give back a little and help with the clean up. We arrived at 9.45, Collect a bag and gloves and spent the next half hour searching for rubbish. And to the credit of all the campers and cachers we did not find much.

One thing I'm glad about. Locusts were not considered rubbish. It would have taken forever to collect all those.

05-Apr-10
After expecting this to start at the listed time of 10am, we started early as we had packed the camp by 9 but had trouble finding anything for our rubbish bag in the campsite area by then. Thanks to everyone who made this an extremly easy taskBig Grin.

05-Apr-10
As others have already noted it was fantastic to see that there was almost no rubbish left around the event location which with all the helping hands - was quickly tidied up anyway! A stellar effort!

05-Apr-10
A great credit to all campers and cachers alike. Well done to all

[This entry was edited by Muffy and Co on Tuesday, April 13, 2010 at 7:58:01 PM.]

05-Apr-10
Campsites were clean so I helped to dismantle the registration hall. Thanks to all the cachers for picking up after themselves.

05-Apr-10
By the time we got here there wasn't much to clean up. Amazing the speed at which it occurred. Now to clean up the audio for Geotalk.

05-Apr-10
Got back to camp in time to help out with the clean up. I gotta say things were pretty good, not a messy bunch these cachers.

05-Apr-10
Took part in this CITO event with my 4 year old after a fantastic weekend of geocaching and socialising with geocachers from around the country/world!

Actually, I was quite impressed at the lack of rubbish around the camp grounds!

Thanks again to the organisers for a fantastic weekend!

05-Apr-10
We let Bruce loose with the claw hammer and he had the ground signs up and the area looking tidy - carefully collected up the signs and nails before we left for our journey back to Adelaide.

05-Apr-10
All clean now

05-Apr-10
Helped out with the big clean up, although there was not really much to clean up!

05-Apr-10
Was eager to get going but not before a emu parade at the Scouts camp so I was happy that they got the books out early and we got down to it.Thanks for a great weekend.

05-Apr-10
This was by far the easiest CITO event we have ever attended with everyone being so responsible with rubbish, it was really a matter of checking for rubbish on the outskirts and returning the site to its original state.

05-Apr-10
This was a breeze to clean.
Well as geocachers we all practice CITO when we are out caching.
So why would we make a mess here?
Enjoyed walking around picking up the odd pieces of foil.
I think I picked up more fireworks debris than rubbish.
Really enjoyed the MEGA EVENT.

05-Apr-10
Arrived, signed, picked up a garbage bag and a pair of gloves but there was not much trash left so we took what we could find even in my car was more rubbish than we found.

Thanks again to the organisers, sponsors and participants.

We packed up in the caravan park then headed back to camp Kurrajong to help out the on site campers and do our bit in the big clean up. A great job done by all in attendance even down to the luminous tyre removers and the dedication of the emu bob team picking up cigarette buts. Great job everyone glad to have been part of this.
Took - Rubbish [:0]
Left - No trace Wink

Cheers and Happy Hunting from Southern Cross Caching.
and thanks again to the whole organization team [:d]

05-Apr-10
1st find of the day, and 2335th total find at 09:39.

Geocachers seem to be very responsible campers, we had great difficulty filling our bag up with rubbish. The reserve was spotless to start off with, and nobody left rubbish lying around.

Took: Nothing
Left: Bag of stuff
Thanks Riverina Geocaching for the cache

Ian and Penny

05-Apr-10
It was good to go along early with trash bags at the ready and see that there was barely anything to clean up! Everyone did a marvellous job of cleaning up after themselves. It was also good to catch up with cachers I had barely seen (and get baby cuddles Wink ) and have a chat without having to race off.

Goodbye Oz Mega - I loved you!

05-Apr-10
Not much to clean up - we're a tidy lot, generally.

05-Apr-10
Was obviously more than happy to take part in this after the fabulous Oz Mega event - TFTC

05-Apr-10
Logging in our GCs

05-Apr-10
We arrived a little late after breaking camp on the other side of town. We couldnt believe how clean the site looked, and despite trying to clean up, all we managed to pick up were a couple of little scraps. Well done to all those who attended who kept the site clean in the first place, and thanks to everyone who cleared up. A great event

05-Apr-10
Actually arrived early for this one hoping to see some of my new friends before they left to go home, but didn't get there in time. (That's okay, I visited them later on in my journeys Wink I was amazed at how clean the whole place actually was!! I felt like a beggar walking around with my trash sack looking for trash that wasn't there. Heard over the loudspeaker that help was needed in the fireworks area and there I actually felt useful. It was a quick CITO because Oz cachers are very keen on keeping things beautiful --- I, for one, appreciate that!! I had a wonderful time visiting with the remaining cachers and taking photos with them to recall each of them in the future. TFTCE

05-Apr-10
My first CITO event! Geocachers are generally quite tidy people and this was a pretty straightforward find!

05-Apr-10
Attended with GeoJnr and Mum and Dad (cdmark). Our first CITO!

05-Apr-10
Our first CITO event. Like the rest of the weekend this was also well organised and the campsite and event area was sorted out pretty quickly. What a great end to a great Easter weekend. Once again thanks to all of the organisers, sponsors, and cachers. Cheers.

05-Apr-10
Great to see that the site was left so clean and tidy, even before this CITO event. The event should have had a much higher difficulty rating - it was that hard to find much rubbish. Collected a small amount of rubbish but it was harder to find than an average cache.

05-Apr-10

It was great to catch up and see everybody one last time. While we did not clean up that much, we cleaned out a dorm and then ran into spin doc Bob where the balloons were popping in the hall as he did an interview (pic). Yep, bit of a mess there Wink Later in the day, we caught up with a few at a BBQ and CITO'd there too. Wagga never looked so good. Clear skies to all who attended and organized the best caching event I have every attended. [^]

I put on the blue gloves and managed to fill a shopping bag behind the registration hall.

05-Apr-10
A quick easy stoll to clean up after a long weekend attending the oz mega event.
Thanks for the event and thanks for the chance to participate.

05-Apr-10
Unfortunately we couldn't hang around for the leisurely official start time for the CITO as we had close to 500km of driving today to get to Bendigo. So, I made an early start and collected rubbish around the cabins and kitchen between 0730 and 0800 before we hit the road. Like others commented, there was lots of pre-Mega rubbish that was collected, and other than tracking, I'm sure we left the camp in better condition that when we all arrived! Cheers Gav [5408]

05-Apr-10
Sighned up nice and early to the register and put some rubbish into the bin.

Area very clean, so this was a very easy CITO.

TFTCITO

05-Apr-10
nice easy clean up thank goodness are clean people

05-Apr-10
This was due to start at 1000 but everyone was ready early so we started before 0930 and it wasn't long before people had run out of things to do which is a testament to how tidy geocachers are. The grounds were left spotless.

A big thank you to all who participated.

05-Apr-10
# 50 cache on our Aus Mega Event Roadtrip, Adelaide—Wagga—Geelong—Warrnambool--Mt Gambier--Adelaide. Fun all the way!!

We popped out to CITO to do our bit. I was very impressed how everyone was cleaning up so diligently as if it was thier own backyard. Again "Geocachers Rule" Was sad to say good bye to everyone and that our wonderful Mega Weekend was over.
Thanks again to Committee and all the Volunteers
Josie

05-Apr-10
Very glad to do our bit to help.

05-Apr-10
A very clean lot we geocachers are. I had trouble filling my plastic bag. Then went & helped move those tyres back to their original locations or perhaps created some new tracks. Many hands made light work. Thanks to all.

05-Apr-10
I think I picked up enough firework fragments to recreate a firework or two, but Team Crackers suggested it might not be the best idea. I'm in agreement with the others in that the site was kept very clean over the weekend, and so we ended up doing other useful tasks, like dragging tires back from the 'driveway' to the rally track after the initial clean up - I bet most CITOs don't get to do that! Thanks everyone Smile ='.'=

05-Apr-10
Well I dont think we were lucky enough to get a second Mega Event Logo for the weekend but that is all good.

What a better way to do our first CITO then after a Mega Event, if only everyone could clean up after themself as much as cachers do. But then I supose there would be no need for CITO would there not that this would be a bad thing.

Tracey and I continued to clean around camp and pack the car sending the kids out with bags around the area to assist. I think there was more rubbish that come out of our car then there was around the grounds. Anyway all packed up picked up our rubbish pile and the bags from bowerbirds dropping them all down to the big bins before hitting the road to Tamowrth to visit family and a bit of caching.

Once again thanks to all for the weekend and we look forward to the next one where ever it may be.

05-Apr-10
The cleanup was a very necessary part of a very big event.
All the great cachers who atteneded the event were so clean that the cleanup didn't take as long as expected.
Thanks to all the good cachers & all the helpers who saved the committee a lot of time in cleaning up.
Roostaman.

05-Apr-10
i think the weight of the bag that my trash wint into weighed more than the trash i found to collect.
Another testament to all the Geocachers who did the right thing in the first place.
well done all.
took rubbish left nothing!

05-Apr-10
We arrived prior to the start time to find the CITO well underway with lots of willing helpers everywhere. We first headed off to the event "carpark" to redistribute the tyres around the rally track. On completion, Mr Ozjeeper was really dissapointed when he was not allowed to check the track out in the car for a few laps to make sure the tyres were correctly placed. Then we wnt for a walk of the perimeter to pick up what little rubbish remained - most of it appearing to have been left from previous uses of the facility.

Congratulations to all CITO participants for leaving Kurrajong reserve cleaner than when we arrived.

05-Apr-10
Well this turned out to be an easy exercise as there was little rubbish left by the campers. I have to say a testiment to cahcers, as any other event and there would have been rub bish everywhere.

I think we picked up about 6 pieces and were even contemplating picking up bird feathers to boost our haul to look as though we did something.

Anyhow well doen everyone.

TFTC

05-Apr-10
The site was actually pretty clean, but it was a good way to wrap up the event after the week-end.

05-Apr-10
Not so much a clean-up as a rearrangement for us, as we moved tyres from the helicopter landing ground and from along the exit road back to their original resting places around the dirt track. Not much rubbish around anyway, us geocachers seem to be generally a clean bunch!

05-Apr-10
It was great to see so many involved on the clean up although it appeared nearly all cachers did the right thing in the first place, as there was little that needed picking up
This was a sensible inclusion for the weekend and something future events should include at the end.
Thanks to all.
Regards Mr.Coffee and the "CITO, yep Coffee In Trash Out" Coffee Clan.

05-Apr-10
Cleaned our campsite and around the back of the stage a little the surrounding area pretty thouroughly, and even managed to uncover some very old and well buried cans.

Thanks again all, had a great time.

05-Apr-10
Participated in ths event after packing up our campsite, there was very little rubbish to pickup as cachers are a group who tend to leave areas cleaner than when they found them.

05-Apr-10
We decided to arrive 30 minutes early so we could help with the cleanup, however when we arrived the place was already looking tidy. However not to be outdone we collected some plastic bags and headed outback so we could find those few scraps that had eluded the campers. Real congrats must go to the tidiest bunch of campers that we have ever met!

05-Apr-10
We arrived at our first CITO expecting to be assigned to a work group, but the place was so clean, there was not much to do. Geoson took the initiative, grabbed a plastic bag and disappeared behind the main building for half an hour or so, collecting a lot of rubbish that was probably not even left by cachers in the first place. He made a small contribution to leaving the place better than we found it.

Thanks again to Riverina Geocaching and the organising committee for a great event.

05-Apr-10
Our first CITO event and all the team pitched in and walked about the site looking for rubbish to pickup but there was very little about.
Well done to everyone for the effort put in.

05-Apr-10
Was impressed that there wasn't that much to clean up. Well done to everyone that participated in the clean up and in the Mega event.

05-Apr-10
10:00 - 11:00
This was the easiest CITO cache we have done - in fact it is the only one we've done! The place was left so spice and span, there was very little to virtually nothing to pick up us we wandered the site. For an event the size of the OZ MEGA that is a fantastic outcome. Well done cachers!

05-Apr-10
Assisted with the cleanup before we were on our way.

05-Apr-10
On Sunday night we were amazed at the cleanliness of the site at the end of the three day event. What a tidy bunch of people cachers are.

By 10am this morning when we arrived the clean up had already started and the site was very tidy, so we filled up our plastic bags with "old" rubbish from the road verge.

Thanks for the opportunity to help out.

05-Apr-10
Nw thats one nice clean camp area.

05-Apr-10
My first Cito cache. I was glad the time was brought forward on this one as many of us were keen to hit the road for the long drive home, was rather a sad moment as good byes had to be said.

05-Apr-10
The two smaller ones of Team Dvixen attended, while I did my best to keep my area in the hall neat and tidy. I think most of it ended up in my pockets. Wink

05-Apr-10
I can't believe, considering how many of us there were, how little rubbish there was! Pulled up a whole heap of campsite markers, and scoured the odd few pieces of easter egg foil, but there was so little! Thanks people for being so tidy!

05-Apr-10
I tidied up as much as I could find, which wasn't much!

Oz Mega Wagga Wagga Trip 2010 with JezzzaXtreme and linFox, Day 3
#430: Did our bit of cleaning up around the campsite and around the stage area before heading towards home

05-Apr-10
Mega 10. After a fantastic weekend at the Event site, the time came to clean up. A went and collected my bag and signed in and off collection i went. I am happy to say that by and large the event grounds were in pretty good condition, and whilst there was plenty of stuff to collect, it was not dramatic. Thanks.

Attended, picked up rubbish and talked to lots of new friends.
