Up in Townsville exploring the area and helping the daughter move house. Staying at the Scout Park at Bluewater for a function too. Have looked at this Hill series a few trips ago and decided that today was the day to do them. Thanks for placing the geocache and a lot cooler today than summer to do them tftc sl
In Townsville for a long weekend with alphag_25, Decided to head out to collect as many on the Mt Louisa trail as possible, bit of a hard slog at times but managed to collect most of them. Havent been up here before despite living many years at the bottom of Mt Louisa. Great views.
Now aware of the container.type so quick find here.
Another PT session this morning with the crew and 2 cars meant I didn’t have to rush. Had a patient colleague along for the walk and company. 6 finds we’re welcome as the day started to warm up.

Returned without the Rugrats to search the long grass today. Found in a spot I swear I looked last time

Already have had enough of bush bashing and spikey grasses. But this location is actually relatively okay to access. We looked around for quite a while, always assuming a certain size and shape container needs a certain size hide. Well the replacement is a lot smaller than what we thought and we only sniffed it out because there was some swag in the long grass pointing in the right direction.

I headed up Mount Louisa to find fair Juliet. But alas, poor Yorick, Juliet t’was nowhere to be seen. Maybe I need to view the scene, Act 3 in the light of day. Failing that, I continued to the halfway point of the loop, with the ladies on the mount, no longer my target. No, my objective was older, a cache now 12 years hidden. Trying to hold 3 conversations going at once and failing miserably. I stumbled climbing through the grass to get on top of the rock. I looped around it anticlockwise until I stumbled across a long tongued frog and laughed. Thanks froggy. Thanks to whoever set that up. Twas a great beacon of discovery. A bit of ink later and I continued the loop and was going for another eve. Thanks for the chat Humbug, Mrs Coven and Mrs Cordial. Thanks daBuddClan for the cache to find too. Cheers.

MEGA Trip - day 5
Assembled the full MEGATRON crew (bella at waggy, dahumbug, tardis0061, crash2079) but today there was no specific plan other than to grab some more old school chaches and a trip up Mt Louisa.
Tried to approach via St Albans Rd but that way was blocked by a gate, so we relocated to the end of Bayswater Rd. It took longer to get to our target but we were able to get more caches.

OMG...I think we were the only group that came up from the tourist carpark all week
Sorry for the tardy logging...trying to catch up to clear my head.
And generic logs.
Found with the Megatrons while we were up here for MEGA WEEK.

During the Easter long weekend, it was all about the Townsville Mega event! Highlights included a hike at Cape Pallarenda Conservation Peak, walks atop the local mountains of Mount Stuart, Castle Hill, and Mount Louisa, checking out a few shady spots along Ross River, sewer pipe / tunnel adventures, and a scuba dive to see the Museum of Underwater Art at John Brewer Reef. The Mega events themselves were fantastic: Gadget lab caches, GPS maze, trivia night, tree planting CITO, and Cal's Escape Room. There was also plenty of geocaching to be had, such as power trailing through the geoarts The Saint and the Book, and the collection of challenge caches at Bushland Beach mudflats. My view of Townsville had completely changed from my trip experience, and much kudos to the Cache Qld Townsville Mega Committee.
Whilst walking up at Mount Louisa and making a loop of the area, we took a walk past this geocache. During the track itself, I managed to walk straight into some wait-a-while, and so I spent five minutes picking myself out of that prickly ivy stuff! We soon arrived at GZ, where we had to spend a few minutes searching around, and we were surprised to not find this regular-sized cache quickly. As it turned out, it was only a small-sized cache hidden away. The cache container and logbook were in good shape. We decided to sign the geocache as DWEG1 (Davidwazza and e.gregory1) to save space in the logbook. Thanks DaBuddClan for the cache placement and ongoing maintenance.

Found while in Townsville to attend the Mega event.
I travelled up from Adelaide, taking a week or so so get here, meeting up with FeatherWaite to do some caching around the Cunnamulla area then continuing on to Barcaldine and Charters Towers.
While in Townsville I teamed up with Budgietas, Stainless-steel-rat and Gooseandegg on some days, including a day on Magnetic Island, and with Davidwazza at other times. When caching with Davidwazza, logbooks were signed DWEG1.
All in all it was a great week or so in Townsville, with plenty of great caches found.
Thanks DaBuddClan for the cache.

Great to be back in town as part of The Megatrons ((The Bug, Crash, Tardis and myself).
Well done Townsville and Charters Towers of qualify and variety to go with the Mega.
We wanted to get to a certain cache and I suggested one way it more caches where spotted on another route so we headed there which took its time and toll with over 20000 steeps for the day, well by midday. A big and hot day as we tracked all over Mt Louisa finding caches and made a Bunus or 3.
Some great views and tricky hides along the way.
Maccas AC and frozen cache was a big welcome afterwards.
We completed the signing duties and re hid. TFTC
This took too long to find as we thought it was a regular container only to find it was a small.

This one took a little while to get to - and then find - but a tell tale pile of rocks soon revealed the hide. TFTC
Found it after a while of searching. Was not expecting the container. A lot smaller. Don’t be afraid to move and look under stuff.
Nice little lookout off the main trail to sit and enjoy the view. Cache has changed to a large Eclipse container but still an easy find. No rummaging through the grass required (which I'm always scared of).
Okay I want a Boost Juice or an elevator. Man are we unfit. Found the cache and now sitting here like. Mountain goat catching my breath admiring the views. TFTC
Out doing a few on the new trail and spotted this one out in the open. It’s white base sticking up as the paint has fallen (or been washed) off GC_Diver’s container.
I tucked it away and added a few rocks to keep it in place for the next visitors.
Great spot.
Happy hunting.

I replaced the cache before it gets archived, since it’s a beautiful spot. The construction of the new path progressed now until directly next to the cache. It should be save where it is, I assume.
Found the inconspicuous-suspicious pile of rocks you would expect, but unfortunately nothing underneath it. Looked around for a bit, and according to the images the cache was quite large, so I doubt it is still there. Also, it is only a few meters from the construction of the new path, which recently commenced along this part of the trail. The trail leading down the mountain south east of this cache is already completely closed for constructions
Quick find, interesting walk with the city on either side. Didnt have a bag big enough to replace but gave the damp log a few minutes in the sun and breeze while I checked on the souvenir count. One of these, probably this one is our 1000 traditional cache. Thanks DaBuddClan
We have been wanting to try this series on a couple of previous visits to Townsville but have finally managed to make the time. We were very pleased to have a fairly stiff, cooling breeze to keep us comfortable and thoroughly enjoyed our hike.....thank goodness for satellite technology to show us the best way to go to reach each GZ
So many great views down both sides while doing this hike along the ridges
Many thanks for the hide DaBuddClan

What a view. A sea of white roofs looking over towards Maggie (treasure) Island. TFTC.
Out on a bit of an adventure with geo kids to give geo mum some time alone what an adventure its turning out to be!!! didn't find a trackable in here and this is where we called an end to the adventure (but was the start of another getting down wow) as it was starting to get dark will be back to do this trail again and finish it
Found it after working out how the compass thingy works. Our first geocache. Still in excellent condition.
Stopped and had some lunch here as the shade and the breeze were too irresistible after all the hard slog. Beautiful view and was worth the effort. Nice large cache and a quickest find. SL TFTC took geocoin to continue on its journey
Panorama Rock lived up to its name today
Views to Townsville in every direction
To top it off there was a view of a very sturdy cache too [^]
So off course this cache is in good nick [^]
TFTC and a lot of sweaty effort to get here

Great spot , also picked up this Path Tag Top of Australia - I play with satellites

Walked the 5peaks this morning and were disappointed with the condition of this trail. We had 4 DNF and 2 had been totally smashed. Some parts of the track was muddy but manageable, part of the track was very over grown. Our biggest hurdle today was the heat. Sorry to tell as it is but with a bit of cache maintenance this would make a great series. TFTC
We left a path tag.
We left a path tag.
Set off at 11:30 in an attempt to grab all the caches in the 5 peaks trail and the other couple along the way, got back to the car at in just under 3 hours with 3 DNF and 17 Finds. The start of the trail was very wet and the last part was a little overgrown bit I loved the challenge and the chance to kill a few hours while waiting for my plane.
Thanks DaBuddClan. This cache was well stocked but i did not come prepared for swapping.

Today was the day that I finally set out to conquer the Mt Louisa caches that have been a blot on my map of Townsville for so long. I teamed up with new to caching but super keen cacher Frullet to add some smilies. It was a very pleasant way to spend the afternoon. This was cache #9 out of 20 for the day.
Nice to have a change in container type while up on the hill.
Thanks DaBuddClan for the cache.

To the two owners of the caches up on the Louisa range, the 5 peaks series and the Numnut, Panorama & Billy goat caches: an excellent set of caches, great views, great locations!! I found all and completed the lot in 3 and a half hours. I started early at 7 am, 20℃ already, by the time I had finished it was 30! Excellent time, THANKS!
Cache found quickly qnd in good condition.

teamed up with RobS72 today as that trail of caches has been starring us in the face for a long time but the heat was murderous and we nearly gave up but we made it to the end. superb team effort and a great day out with ROb.
Jackylegs44 and myself decided a few weeks back, that we'd team up and tackle the 5 Peaks Power Trail located on Mount Louisa. For both of us, Mount Louisa is basically the last bastion of caches left in the Townsville area to find. So today was the day that we converted them to faces.
Some great views from here. But still we headed in an uphill direction.
Took and left nothing. Log signed. The cache container and contents were found to be in excellent condition. Finding this cache has now given me a total find count of 1287.

I was up here doing the '5 Peaks' power trail so thought I would grab this cache on the way through!
Arriving at GZ the cache was a nice quick find, just what I wanted after walking along the peaks in the heat all morning!
Thank you for bringing us here to enjoy the views of Townsville.

And so the end approaches, it has been nigh on a year since we started this caching streak and we are running out of caches to find.
Bypassing many a 5 Peaks cache geoD pushed on as a gauge to see how far he could get before it would be time to turn around before light ran out. This cache was where he reached and it was good as place as any with stunning views of Townsville not normally to be had.
A quick sign of the log then it was back down the track to the gCAV

I used to live in North Queensland in the late 90's and regularly return to visit my in laws. On a belated Christmas visit, I managed some early morning caching, before the worst of the heat. I am intimately familiar with this set of peaks which provided a semi regular mountain bike adventure with some equally crazy friends.
As I trundled down the hill, I spotted the well named rock. Bit of a scout around revealed nothing so I returned to where my cache sense was pointing. And it was here that a well camo'd, nice size cache was uncovered. Too hot to sit here long......
Thanks for the cache, DaBuddClan.

Another day caching in Townsville, before we start our journey west.
Decided to do the 5 peaks series this morning and others in the area, before it got too hot.
Good view.

# 860 Well it was time to attack the hill and clean up the rest of TeamJeddell's new caches.
That's a significant hill, and I needed a rest once I arrived here.
Ironically, it wasn't a TJ cache that I found, but DaBuddClan's which I have been putting off way to long

The Trackable is not in the cache. Suggest marking it as missing.

Couldn't find numnuts nook. Might take a look on the way back to the car. What an awesome view.
#285 a nice cache to start off the day, and a good bit of exercise...
I left from Franklin Drive and went the hard way- zigzagging up the hill. About 200 m in, i saw a massive snake, but it was dead, and it was just a python. It still gave me an adrenalin shot, so i powered up the hill. Once at the top, I met the fire trail, and walked along it the rest of the way until I was near GZ. ONce i got to GZ, a pretty easy find. I was sweating alot by then, but still enjoyed the views and took a photo or two.
I missed the part about green stuff, but left a TB to continue its journey...
Thanks for a great cache DaBuddClan! Tbs enjoyed their quick visit
Headed from this one off to Numnut's nook...

Today was the day for me to finally find these three caches that have been nagging me for ages to go and find them. It was always too hot or there wasn't time. Today I hardened up and headed up the hill picking up Numnut's Nook on the way. On the way up to the next one I came across an amazing sight. An overturned and burnt out Landcruiser. How did it get there? Dropped from a helicopter? Looks like it's been rolled down the hill and burned movie style.
Kept heading up and soon came to a great spot for a view. Found the cache quickly and signed the log, first for some time. Replaced with care and headed off for Billy Goat.
Thanks!

Just a short note to say that this one survived the bush fire. Left snakes & ladders .
I have been meaning to get up to these for a while. Finally got organised with some mates and road the Mountainbikes up - easy find, great views, thanks!
The track to continue on along the ridgeline/top seems to have overgrown so I'm not sure how easy the next one is to get to, but we'll try and push on next time we are up there in a couple of weeks.
45min to ride up, 6min to ride down!

Phew what a hike, but wow what a view!!! This was certainly a fitness challenge for me but I did it!! Hooray!!! I didnt have any green things to leave sorry, so left a penguin eraser. TFTC.
Attempted this one at night. Mistake number one. This is definitely a daytime grab. Don't underestimate this terrain, it's dangerous as hell in the dark so just don't do it. Especially if you plan to bash your way through to the bluff and then hike and/or fall down the side to get out (like we did, mistake number two and our bodies are wrecked) Definitely for the fit. Fantastic views though and thanks the five bucks! Will reattempt the other two in the daylight and when the wounds heal. Hope there are fivers in the others so stay away you other cachers . TFTC.
I made my way up further from the nearby cache.. the heat of the day was getting to me - not to mention the flies. Good thing I bought that tube of Bushman's and left it in the car

Made my way up from Numnut's Nook. Soon found the 'trail' which made the going considerably easier, despite the poor condition of the track. The cache was spotted very quickly, for which i was very grateful. Legs were feeling a bit wobbly by now. Enjoyed the breeze and views some more. Thanks DaBuddClan
