WA Big Trip Winter 2024. Day 12 - Port Lincoln to Elliston via several small roadside spots. After my travels down the east side of the Eyre Peninsula showed me more and bigger towns than I expected, on todays travels up the west side of the peninsula, there were a few settlements, but they were all very small and it is much windier on this side. Elliston where I stayed the night at the golf course RV park, was smaller than any of the other regional council towns I have visited, but they did have a nice pug where I had dinner. The days caching was pretty much all roadside caching until the end with some of the Elliston caches being out on coastal cliffs and the jetty. Things are getting more outback every day now.Today was mostly roadside stops where I squeezed the van onto the edge of the road or a parking bay and walked the remaining distance to the cache. Found with no issues today. Thanks for the cache Rum Rustler46688.18 TNLNVisited: World Traveling Gold GC A#6 & Dark Side of the Cache A#83**Albida**
TFTC definitely tested my orienteering skills in the overgrown vegetation. Looks like a great camp site in there too
My 9th day of my trip heading to and around the Eyre Peninsular. I stayed at Coulta for the last night which was a rainy night then made my way to Port Lincoln then up to Cleve for tonight's camp site. This cache would be find number 5 of 34 for the day and find Number 199 in total for this trip away.
On my way to Pt Lincoln grabbing what I can along the way.

Hanging out in Port Lincoln and then heading to Venus Bay and managed to find a few caches.
All good here.
Sandyofthesea and I took off from Perth at the start of April to travel more of Australia using geocaching as a guide to see the sights. How good is this country!!

Just doing a caching run today with ilook4geo starting at Coulta and heading south to Coffin Bay area. We had an enjoyable time and found quite a varied range of containers and hides. Thanks go to Rum Rustler for placing this cache and adding to the caches that are available to be found around this area.
Found plenty of caches today with goingplaces2 and had a fun day. Each log was signed and each cache was replaced as found. Job done! Thanks for placing this cache.
Found this one without any commo. Signed log (that is dry), emptied water from cache container, and recovered the cache when we put it back. Tftc.
TFTC. Been a while since we’ve been caching, but Sharon proves she still has intoned wheres Wolly!!
Replaced log as wet, mouldy and just plain
Happy caching and safe travels!

Family holiday in Coffin Bay after last year's break due to Covid. No fishing today due to 30 knot northerlies. Bit of caching the go. Found after short search. Tftc
Well it’s 2021 and I have finally said good bye to a not so great 2020 and it was great to finally be able to have a reasonable holiday as I have not had a decent break since 2019.
Made to South Australia and finally crossing the boarder and then being greeted by a couple of very friendly SA police offices for which i had the official paper work to allow me to enter.
After making my way west along the Eyre Hwy I went as far as Penong and the Eyre Hwy which I have not travelled along since the late 70’s when I was on a holiday with my folks and this was the last holiday before I started full time work as a sparkie and finding a few caches as I go.
Geocaching when towing a van is not always easy and I have to be a bit selective on which ones I decide to try and find for safe parking purposes especially along busy highways.
So after leaving Venus Bay my next destination is Coffin Bay NP which is down the bottom of Eyre Peninsular off the Flinders Hwy.
I’m hoping for when I set up camp the weather improves but at least I’m in a van and not having to set up canvas.
Well the weather has improved but not as much as I hoped for as there is still rain showers just when it looks like it is getting better.
I had an early appointment in Port Lincoln so I set off early in the morning to find a few caches heading in as Port Lincoln will be my next stop on this trip but it would be to hard to find these ones with the van behind so I did them this morning.
Heading back now so I have a bit more time to be able to find a few more caches on the way, going to head north a little bit to check that area out.
Heading back towards the coast now to check out all of the little place names that appear on my map.
I’m enjoying the drive around the back roads enjoying the country side and the roads are in good shape.
Continuing my way along just following dirt roads / tracks to find little green dots on my map.
Finally made it back to the bitumen again as it was now time to head back to Coffin Bay National Park and back to camp, but as they say there is always time for one more.
The only scout camp I have been to in SA was Woodville or something like that.
Whet on a camp there in the 70’s and I think they held a jamboree there as well.
Good coords meant for an easy find.
Thanks Rum Rustler TFTC.

On my Elliston-Pt Lincoln leg of my round Eyre Peninsula caching odyssey. A quick find. The log was wet as on the day I went by. Thanks Rum Rustler.
This weekend, I joined gridge98 on a trip to Eyre Peninsula, primarily visiting Port Lincoln and its surroundings. We saw its famous marina full of trawlers, and we also ended up visiting Coffin Bay and enjoyed fresh oysters. A nice weekend with weather, and certainly a great vicinity to see.
Today, our plan was to head to the west side of Eyre Peninsula to Coffin Bay, and have lunch there. We enjoyed kilpatrick oysters (hopefully fresh?), before making our way north through Mount Dutton Bay, Farm Beach, and Coulta, and calling into Greenly Bay. We then looped back east through Koppio and Whites Flat, stopping off for a steep hike to North Block also. An enjoyable day to be out and about, with highlights being the coastal towns and views, and hills hike.
This cache took a few minutes to locate. Unfortunately, this cache was in really bad condition, with the logbook wet and slimy, and in probably one of the worst states to have signed. A CO maintenance visit is probably required on this one. Thanks Rum Rustler for the cache placement and ongoing maintenance.

From Port Lincoln we drove on to Elliston today. Wow! There it has quite great beaches and many beautiful coastal sections. In many of these places we were also able to find a geocache. Thank you to the owners for the caches !
Nachdem wir auf dem schönen Campground direkt hinter dem Cache übernachtet haben, mussten wir natürlich hier vorbei.

I was down in Pt Lincoln with Laighside Legends for the long weekend and our plan was to head out and cache our way towards Coffin Bay and the surrounding area. It was a warm and pleasant day to be out and all caches that were found were in reasonably good condition. As it got close to the midday event we bumped into Mr Tardis and one of the nearby caches. The nearby event was an enjoyable affair, joined my Aussie M&M, Mogni and Mr Tardis, food was eaten and stories were swapped. At the close of the event, we continued to cache around the area before finally heading back to Lincoln for an evening event. It was an enjoyable evening at the pub to end the days caching before heading back to our accommodation in preparation for our next days caching.

A plan was hatched to make the most of my time based in Port Augusta. This weekend the plan was to visit all the LGA areas on Eyre Peninsula to work towards the South Australian LGA Challenge. Dr Owl joined me in Port Augusta on Thursday night and we headed off early Friday morning for a wonderful adventure. Plenty of laughs, great scenery and some interesting stories discovered along the way. Today involved heading down the west coast of the peninsula to Pt Lincoln. As usual we underestimated the time it would take us to travel between A and B.
A quick stop and we were off again.
Thanks for the cache Rum Rustler.

Found whilst in the area for a long weekend road trip getaway. We walked around and around in circles, and almost gave up... but then red spotted something... hmm, open your eyes ronso, lol :cP TFTC Rum Rustler!!
Staying in Tumby Bay for a few days we set off finding the caches around here cleaning up a lot of unfounds from previous trips, quick find and we have been in this camp behind here for work. TFTC
Found at 3:48 PM GAFF3.
Nearly gave up on this cache as the grass is quite thick at this time of year and we couldn't find anything at GZ. I was actually walking back to the car to get reinforcements when I spotted a bunch of bark and branches that looked interesting at a distance of 11 metres
Thanks Rum Rustler.

11:01:00 AM. After a couple of nice days at Coffin Bay it was time to head north and hopefully leave the southerly wind behind us. A park and grab. Signed log and rehid. All good. Thanks Rum Rustler for placing this cache.
TFTC.11.10. From Perth to Melbourne is our last vacation journey in Australia, along this route, we look for caches. Greetings from the Netherlands
Day ten of my holidays, travelling from Streaky Bay to Point Lincoln, doing caches along the way. There were some amazing views at some of the caches, a spectacular day. This was a weird one. I pulled over about 100 metres short to check my GPS and it said that it lost satellite coverage. When I moved forward and parked, I thought it might be giving trouble, so I checked the end of the armco railing, and there I found an Eclipse tin with a log sheet and a couple of names on it.
Thinking this might be the cache, I added my name, but then followed my GPS and found the real proper sized cache. So I don't know whether the Eclipse tin was a "throw down" cache or perhaps a GCA cache. Anyway, thanks to Rum Rustler for the cache.
