03-Sep-10
Good Weather is returning and its time to update those old hides.
Look out for the upcoming new local hides ...
The Lone Random

29-Aug-10
Great hide. TFTC.

22-Aug-10
Definitely not a sistema! Unfortunately, not waterproof either, at least with the downpours we have been having recently. The log was waterlogged and what we could see of it was full, hence we could not sign the log. Will message the CO. A very good hide though.TNLN TFTC.

17-Aug-10
I guess this cache is really well hidden, all I found was dog poo and an annoying guy walking back and forth with garbage bags, rinsing garbage bins, opening peoples doors etc.

15-Aug-10
Quick find today no muggles about happy to remove this from the list given the last time we dropped in
it was muggle central TFTC SL

15-Aug-10
Timing is everything with some caches. So too with this one. Found in company with Slink1 today. Good find. TFTC SL

15-Aug-10
Hmm, alot of head scratching with this one, but had to give up when a stack of muggles came along to look at the area.

24-Jul-10
Found at 3:40 on a cold Sat afternoon in Willy. A great historic spot that I did not realise the significance of. TNLN SL - thanks!! **Log is a little damp, but all is in place** Cool

04-Jul-10
Spent quite a while hunting in the indicated place. Could see evidence of others having looked there too. Even widened the search the complete length of the fence Sad

27-Jun-10
Had a good poke around on this sunny Sunday afternoon - but no luck. A few muggles around who kept jumping into cars. Another time.

26-Jun-10
Couldn't find this one after 20mins of searching & required stealth due to so many muggles on a Sunday afternoon. Might need to try it another time. Loved the littles cottages! Smile

14-Jun-10
On a day out west caching with Mr Jibblets, we dropped in to do this cache. It was a pretty easy find because by now we had seen a few of these in our travels. The little houses looked great and the resale value would be pretty high given the location. Does anyone live there? TFTC The Lone Random.

14-Jun-10
Found with company from the swaggie's on our clean cache day around the Williamstown area.
took a few moments for muggle's to disperse but once they left the cache was in hand after a breif search.
Thanks for the cache The Lone Random

13-Jun-10
Found by edmil & maddie, this was our third and last find for the day. We had decided to head of to Williamstown to grab some Oysters from the Pier, unfortunately we arrived a bit to late as they were sold out. We still made a good day of it though. This cache was grabbed as we drove in. I parked the cache mobile not too far away and proceeded to GZ. I had the cache in hand in less than 5 minutes. The GPS had me spot on and it was just a matter of spotting the right hide. Log signed ad cache replaced, thanks for the hide. Nice bit of history too.

nice hide

13-Jun-10
Found at end of day with Rog and Diala

Was a very sneaky hide!!! Best done at night like we did with no one around!!

Find #6 on a clean up Williamstown night run with my mate Marshy (Blacklegend17). Parked at GZ and started the search. Our GPSr's were pointing in opposite directions so we searched and searched and were close to giving up when Marshy came up with the cache. Thanks for the hide. TFTC.

11-Jun-10
Found with my good mate Marty Quasar3671 on our clean up Williamstown run. Quick find at night with no muggles around. Spent a while looking for this one, my GPS originally had me in the complete wrong spot. Found eventually though. Clever hide.

06-Jun-10
Well, more like 'didn't search too hard' 'cos we are uncomfortable in urban situations, especially around private property. Where the coords took us, we could even have been looking at the cache, going by some of the logs, but we weren't up to putting hands in certain places in public! (Got to be careful about spoilers!) Mrs was born and raised in Willi and we were visiting a rellie so took a bit of time to look at a couple, as you do. Never mind the outcome, thank you for the history and taking us into this corner of a significant area.

16-May-10
A really good one. SL TFTC.

10-May-10
found it was like dunn and dusted

05-May-10
Spend 15 minutes scratching around with ggkof around 1900, no luck. We will return.

26-Apr-10
Very very clever.

Wow, clever little hide. CDJLMSS

11-Apr-10
Too many muggles for us.

03-Apr-10
Found whilst out for a day's caching with Bushfire, Packetstorm 4 and RHPS. As Bushfire had been here previously, he stood by and watched as RHPS searched and soon found. This was my 22nd and last for the day. TFTC!

03-Apr-10
PacketStorm4 was way out on this one!
RHPS found it easily.
Said see ya to Bushfire and Speedy here and continued our journey

03-Apr-10
As we arrived at this cache Bushfire was a bit worried it had grown legs due to some gardening that had been done since he was there last, but it was not the case and i had the cache in hand

Found by Mary & David at 1335. Don't know this hidden little area at all. We were entranced by the older little cottages. Our thanks yet again to The Lone Random.

15-Mar-10

This was the tenth find today on my clean up of Werribee and then onto Footscray and Williamstown. Parking was a problem being a Monday so I walked the final 100m and with good co-ords the great little hide was soon found.

Lovely area and thanks for placing a cache here to enable us to learn a little more about our history.

06-Mar-10
Tried to get this one yesterday, but as I pulled up, the rain started and was so hard I couldn't leave the car. From the car I'm sure I spotted the cache, so I came back today and it turns out I was right. It's just started pouring with rain again!

OK I am guilty of not logging caches over the last year or two. Due to 2 operations and rehab it has made it difficult to log caches even though I have been mostly chair bound sitting for short times has been difficult as well.
What I have done is create this log in an attempt to bring our found and DNF’s up to date so I can resume my normal habit of stories rather than a TNLN – TFTC.
Most of these logs will not include the owners team name so I think it is appropriate to say a Big Thank the cache owners for their caches and some wonderful memories of caching adventures.
Also thanks to Team Crackers who have made our caching trips so much fun and their help in working out what caches we did and when.
Regards
Mr.Coffee and the “I promise I wont let this happen again after all these coffee’s er I mean caches are drunk er I mean logged” Coffee Clan.

After a pleasant lunch with the Coffee Clan at Yarraville we headed to Williamstown to pick up a few caches. What a great way to start the afternoon's caching, the area around gz was very interesting and the cache hide was excellent. We normally don't go out of our way to do urban caches but it looks like The Lone Random has taken a leaf out of tackleheads book and we will certainly be looking for more of your hides. Many thanks for the cache and for showing us this area

20-Feb-10
What a great bit of local history, I was interested to read the plaques and see the houses and wondered why I have never been shown this place before! The cache was a simple find and well suited to the area.

Thanks,

R - B

18-Feb-10
I guess I got lucky here today as I found your cleverly concealed cache within a few seconds which was just as well as I was illegally parked nearby.
Thanks Lone Random and interesting history too.

17-Feb-10
Found 17:30, in the comapny of Muzza, an interesting area, although we probably spent longer than necessary examining it in much too much detail Wink

TNLN, CSI=2, thanks to The Lone Random.

17-Feb-10
On an afternoon caching out west with Biggles Bear we eventually found it after spending a lot of time in the not quite right spot. Thanks to The Lone Random for the cache.

16-Feb-10
Got really lucky with this one, as I was able to park within 5 metres, and located the cleverly hidden cache without a soul in sight.
Thanks again, The Lone Random, for the 3rd in the series that I've done, SL

13-Feb-10
Found at 1510. With a bit of time to spare before heading off to the city for AC/DC, Captain Brooks and I stopped by our second Williamstown history cache, and after a quick read of the information plaque, the cache was soon found by CB in a familiar hide. Glad to have done this one today with so few muggles about. The old buildings here are fantastic

Thanks for another nice historical location.

06-Feb-10
This was cache # 12 of 36 for the day, in the company of Alansee. It was Muggle central down here today and we were glad of a quick find, thanks for showing us this piece of history. My thanks to The Lone Random for the cache.

06-Feb-10
Found while out on a day caching with Acts2YouthGroup. Parking looked a problem so I jumped out while he parked the car. In the end he managed to park very near to the hide which was soon found, thanks The Lone Random. A couple of lovelyold houses here.

Found by Roma and Max.
We were fortunate to find parking nearby and after admiring the structure your good numbers made for an easy find.
We appreciated your use of this type of container.
Thanks again The Lone Random for bringing us here.
From Romax.

Find # 3132 and 2nd of the day at 3:33 pm Accompanied by Wheelchair Access, Took a little while to find and I loved the container. TNLN, left my mark in the log, Thanx to The Lone Random....Big Grin

31-Jan-10
Thanks God, as my friends have tools. When I found it and look at cache lid.. Interested to see old house of Cox's Garden Heritage. TFTC

30-Jan-10
Found this one at 13:35 while on the way to the "A Watery Transit" mini-event nearby. I parked my bike about 1 m from GZ but it wasn't until I actually decreased my search pattern that I finally found the cache after a few minutes of searching Red Face.

I've known about this historic area for a long time and it turns out the EuDes herself's Great-Great-Great-Grandfather, Henry Robinson, was an early owner of No. 12 (St Helliers) just across the way. If I might be permitted to editorialise:

The house at 12 Cox's Garden ... is one of two remaining timber cottages out of the seven built by Samuel George Cox between 1851 and 1853 on land he had bought for use as a market garden and housing estate. Cox was a fisherman and the cottages were built mainly for other fishermen using prefabricated timber frames, 10-inch (25.4 cm) weatherboard cladding, hessian and paper lining and hardwood shingle roofing.

By the time the building was added to the Victorian Register of Historic Buildings in 1983, it was in an advanced state of disrepair. In 1988, it was purchased
(for $65,000 if my memory serves me correctly) with a view to restoring the cottage and developing the rest as a family home. The Historic Buildings Council provided financial support for the restoration of the cottage. From the time that planning and work began, the Council was impressed by the care for detail and concern for historical accuracy shown by the owner-builder.

While the cottage has been structurally stabilised and made sound, it has not lost its sense of age. Wherever possible, original materials were re-used and a sparkling new look was avoided. For example, the verandah roof shows its age, but is waterproof and provides good shelter.

(adapted from an Historical Buildings Council poster, State Government Victoria.)

TNLNSL, although our BYO pen geocoin had a visit to mark the occasion. Thanks The Lone Random.

30-Jan-10
After a lap of the block I found my way in and parked within 10m. Luckily again there were no muggles so had time to look around, read the historical signs etc, while trying to think where this would have been hidden. After a few minutes I spotted the clever hide and signed the log at 5:15pm
TNLN
thanks to The Lone Random

A nice easy find, luckly found car parking spot nearby and not many muggles about. TFTH...SL....TNLN

Tristan the Travel Turtle Tag (TTQWTC) has come for a flying visit back in time.

Picking the day, and time of day helps with this one.
Nice one The Lone Random! Thanks.

Find # 805 @ 15:55
What a pleasant little surprise to see such fine examples of our early history. I had no idea there were any left.
I arrived at gz and soon had the hide in hand. Also took the time to inspect and appreciate the cottages.
SL Thanks to The Lone Random for the cache!

23-01 13th find of the day at 20:08 and 848th find in total.
Tricky hide in front of an interesting piece of history.
Echo wasn't overly comfortable searching in full view of the occupied residences and it wasn't till Spice came up to see what was taking so long that the cache was found.
(''\(OoO)/'') Thanks The Lone Random for the caching fun!

23-Jan-10
I parked right next to this cache the other day, getting an Oxygen fill from the dive shop! Tonight I remembered the cache.
Cox's garden had been in disrepair for quite a while before the recent work restored it. Before it was a small house and a garden, not a couple of houses and stuff all garden.
Thanks, Robmc.

Found by harry_stamper on 20/1/10 @ 3.35pm with PR&F.
A very clever hide TLR! Took the cache for a coffee (it looked like he needed one...)
Replaced without an issue.

TFTC!

Found by PR&F with harry_stamper on 20/1/10 @ 3.35pm.
Grabbed the cache without a problem but standing there and logging- different story!
The clever camoed container came with us to a cafe nearby while we had a drink and signed the log.
On the way back, the area was clear of muggles and we returned the cache to its location.
TFTC and bringing us to this location The Lone Random!

Found by caughtatwork at 7:20
This one near;y proved to be our undoing, but GabGab and her keen eyes had the cache spotted while I was only centimetres away from it.
An interesting piece of history. I used to drop off my eldest at Willi High for 6 years and I've been within 100m of this place (on the drive to work) many, many times, but never knew this existed.
Took nothing, left nothing.
Thanks to The Lone Random for this cache experience today. Quite a bit of history here and I'm glad it is being preserved.
*Overall Experience: 3*

I found this cache with caughtatwork tonight. I found this one while caughtatwork was still looking around. I think this cache is excellent. Thank you.

16-Jan-10
We found this cache at 3:40pm as the 11th of 21 on our Bay to Maribynong Afternoon. After a late lunch in a Williamstown cafe, we walked from where we had eaten to this cache. We were scratching our heads for a while, but it was "K" who eventually thought outside of the box and made the find in a spot that I wouldn't have necessarily looked. Whew. Thanks from D & K B-A.

16-Jan-10
I actually used to work in a local cafe during the final years of my uni degree nearby here.
Used to try and get car parking around here, but it was quite rare to find one.
But didn't know anything more about this location.
The resident of the cottage was coming and going this morning which made it hard to search.
The owner of the car which was parked adjacent to the cache, came back. He proceeded to start his car up and then open up the paper for a read.
Needless to say I abandoned my quick glancing search.
I'll return at a different hour.

nice!!

14-Jan-10
After being just around the corner from this one when it was listed this morning, and not knowing about it, I just had to go back tonight to get it, for a "First Day Find". What a fascinating little cottage, in an area that I've never visited previously. Such a small little place, I wouldn't be able to stand up inside! The cache took a bit of looking for, particularly in the dark, so I phoned Serial for some help, knowing that he'd found it earlier today. Everything here is so close, and I was worried that the neighbours would be watching, so I had to be discrete and fast. Eventually found the little cache... I wonder how long it can survive here with all of the nearby houses watching goings on? Many thanks for the third in this series - I am learning a lot about Willi!

Found by The Empire
14/1/10 @ 3:30pm
Third to find on this cache, congratulations to tackle_head! I was at work and after getting first to finds on the other Williamstown Historic caches I wasn't going to rush back to Williamstown for this one. It's actually now the closest cache to my place, a whole 275 metres in fact! Thanks to The Lone Random for the cache, I didn't know this was back here!

A Hens tooth , I found in a FTF and managed to beat off the regulars and even the new cacher on the block , at 1353 it was mine. looking over my shoulder thinking for sure some one else will be here pressure was on as the lone random could come up with anything for camo . looked at the history of the site thinking that this is where it all started with private subdivisions .
thank you to The Lone Random and look forward to the many more to come in this series .

14-Jan-10
Missed out the FTF by a few minutes, however, read about the cottages and had a nice look around, which was worth the trip.
Thanks for a good day of caching.
