Poor coverage up there on our phones but we found it. Log is very wet but managed to get ours on.Sadliers Waihirere
Very well hidden cache, took some time to find, even though we had four sets of eyes looking.
Very well camouflaged container.
Lovely walk up to these beautiful falls.

Found a few years back and again yesterday ... both times no pen to sign the logbook. Took a pic instead and I hope that will do!? Was a brand new log, now containing my muddy fingerprint.
Decided to go for a walk and check out the area today and replace the wet logbook.
Have placed the cache in a higher area and hopefully it will be dry.

That was a nice walk.
Karen and her two boys, Rowan and Finn showed me this nice place, and I took them geocaching along the way. Counting this one, we found a total of three caches.
The travelling fox is happy =^,^=

One of The Shirelings got a little muddy following a slip on the slope adjacent to this cache! Many TFTC
Really slippery near cache site as I discovered. One cut knee and ripped jeans for my efforts!
A lovely little stroll along pathway. Had to make a hasty retreat to the car as the thunder rattled overhead.
Accompanied by Barnard Star.

Decided on a bit of a road trip to Gisborne area as we are targeting higher D rated caches for one of our challenges and this area seemed to qualify. Picked up the Squirrel at 6am with a list of about 26 caches. We didn't expect to have so many DNF's and with so many caches needing repairs, hopefully the owners might do some checking and repairing. Anyway after what turned into a very long day with rain, slippery tracks and wading through nearly waist deep water we arrived safely home the next morning at 3.15am.
10.45am - Drizzly rain as we walked to falls. Great spot and soon found cache. SLTFTC

With Gap (of Fap and Gap)... Our target today was to find caches with difficulty ratings of 2.5 and greater. Gap spied a whole lot in the Gisborne region... Road trip. It rained on and off throughout the day, making conditions slippery underfoot and slow-going at times. Weather coupled with quite a few DNFs made this a bit of a disappointing mission. Nevertheless, we soldiered on, as we do...
I always wondered where Waihirere was... Their culture group has long ranked among the best in the country in the Maori world... The caches in this area were sure targets for us, including one to fill a spot in my D/T Matrix.
Not one of our targeted finds, but great to visit nevertheless. After a greasy walk in persistent rain, it was good to finally arrive at the falls. After a fairly quick search using the hints, the hide was revealed... TFTC.

third time geocaching Found this after a few minutes looking, very cool hide! You wouldn't find it if you weren't looking for it ! Cache was a little damp so we tried to dry it out a bit.
A quickish find and a very enjoyable walk up to the falls. Not much water today, just a trickle, I'm sure I could do better myself with a few beers on board
The most interesting thing here was to discover that the cache container was one I made myself! Obviously one I must of gifted to the CO at some stage, sometimes my generosity even surprises myself

a nice walk to a lovely place, cache was a little wet but sat it in the sun took a seat and enjoyed the feeling of being this area as it dried, TFTC
Last full days caching before moving to Taupo tomorrow
Nice easy find today, caching with nightowl19. Earned the terrain stars today

Struggled to find any rocks below flood level, one fitted the bill but had no holes under it. I think the flood level has been much higher than you anticipated. Gave up looking after 30 minutes given others have reported an easy find.
Rain is steady now so was pleased to find the cache quickly. No chance of muggles today and I didn't spend much time admiring the view either. Took a photo and ran back down an increasingly slippery track to the car. TFTC

A nice place to stop at the end of the track... good idea to have a bench there for weary travellers. TFTC
TFTC. The walk was longer than I thought and there was no water to cool off in. FTF 2013
Shame the water level was low would have liked to have cooled off its a shame they dont have the pool complex up and running. Nice hide my two young boys had a great time.
Great find...a bit slippery! Was a beautiful day, which made it worthwhile!
A bit soggy so dried it out for a while. TFTC - I had forgotten what a pretty place it is
Good instructions, but we think that the waterline has been higher than the cache as it was quite damp.
We dried it out as best we could. Luckily the log had been double-bagged, so was still usable. Replaced the outside plastic bag for you. Found with new cachers Wakaroa & photo taken. TNLN TFTC

Not much water but a nice walk to somewhere I would not have seen otherwise. TFTC
7559 A pleasant bush walk, always enjoy our visits to Waihirere Falls, many thanks for bringing us back, easy find today, don’t know how we missed it last time. TFTC
A nice easy find. I can't remember the last time I was at these falls and it was a first for Ryan, so thanks for bringing us here. Must return in summer with our togs. Foghorn Leghorn in. TFTC. SiLiRy
While visiting the 3 rocks cache a pair of muggles passed me so had to wait them out at the falls. We had brought swimming gear with us but it wasn't suitable as there was only a very shallow pool at the bottom of the falls. Very pretty all the same. The only thing that ruined the whole experience was a nappy that some inconsiderate idiot had left by the seat. Did contemplate carrying it out but we simply couldn't bear the smell.
Many thanks
Many thanks
On a cache raid in the Gisborne area. This was the fourth for today. Did the other 3 in the same piece of bush as well.
Cheers for the cache.
Cheers for the cache.
bought the "home away from home' 7WED51 to Gisborne for 5 nights.. fantastic weather and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. thoroughly enjoyed our walk to the waterfalls... nice easy find using the clues.. took the green world gc to move on... TFTC
Found it with Mr Chillipips - took in all caches in this area today, and this was a fun one - fell in the mud and got well coated Well worth the walk, weather was great and spent a while relaxing at the falls. Cache sodden inside though log just damp in its own packet - ? not sealed by last visitor but cleaned it out on the seal and dried, putting silica in with damp log. Mr Chillipips left Locator GC mini coin. TFTC and bringing us here.
Cheers

DNF – No luck today… unable to get decent GPS lock, still well worth the walk to the falls.

After the DNF in the morning we went and cleaned up the rest of the Gisborne area caches so that we only had this one left on our "cache radius", not wanting to leave un-finished business we went back, this time in the dark with fading torch light and 2 PAF hints, one helpful and one.....lets just say a little confusing.... bit like the hint on the cache....... Found out we didnt have to go above the falls after all, the GPS signal was not too good around here, but it is more or less correct, looked under every hard object we could find, and after 5 minutes of trying Mr Geckoh's light died, which didnt help the situation!! 20 minutes of looking and we have had enough!! Mrs Geckoh was already turned and walking away when Mr Geckoh looked under the only object we had not looked under, [red]YAHOO!![/red] CACHE FOUND!! Quickly signed the log so that we could get out of here before the other torch could decide to stop working... got back to the van with 2 grateful dogs waiting patiently for us to return, A memorable cache indeed, Thanks Yeetrees for the lasting memories, and thanks KC for the useful hint

(was to be #2417) (10am)
Great location for a cache, thanks very much to the owner for bringing us to this spot, the weather was drizzly so we had the gummies on and the full wet weather gears on, We were a bit late getting away from home this morning as we were trying to solve this Wellington puzzle placed by the same owner.....
Got to GZ in good time with 2 dogs in tow, they explored the area as we also explored the area for the elusive plastic box, no phone coverage meant we had to give up looking after an hour of grovelling, we looked high we looked low, on the left and to the right, the hint was certainly not specific enough to compensate for the GPS black hole.
Tails between our legs we retreated with a dreaded DNF. There was a bit more water flowing over the falls than on the cache page, and a nice big pool of water at the bottom of the falls.
TFT.................(hmmm)......................Walk.

Very nice area, plenty of water over the falls today. Good walk to cache, track not too muddy. Took quite a while to locate the cache. SL Thanks for the cache.
A nice walk up to the falls. GPS was jumping around a bit and it took me quite a long time to locate the cache.
Thanks.
Thanks.
Did an afternoons cache hunt with a few other cachers and muggles. Great area to go hunting and hunt we did, but being such a group someone had to find it. TFTC. Signed along with the other cachers, but forgot to log. Chasing up other caches in the area and realised I hadn't done the 'paper work'.
clue gave us the answer. was wet and got muddy when fell over getting to the cache
Out and about with avenger3 and Canaryz and some muggle support
As often muggles find these first ! But being a friendly one, we logged it boosting the stats of the cache with three visits in one go.
Took knuckle bones and left NZ$1./ and Aries TB
TFTC SL
Cheers nzkeko

A lovely walk alongside a picturesque stream to a beautiful waterfall. Surprised to see we were second to find. Thought nzkeko would have walked on to this cache after his FTF at The Rock. Also surprised that 3 different groups of people asked us where the other tracks led - we must look like locals! Thanks for showing us this magical spot.
