What a spot. Just a few paces from my home for the night. So cool finding all the mining relics still in pretty good condition. For anyone else getting this cache Id urge you to pay a visit to the original dynamo hut, not far up the river on the other side. Well worth the effort since you have allready come so far. Well worth the fp. Thanks
A group of us with 4 wheel drive vehicles went in as far as we could then walked the rest of the way to the hut I got within 1 metre but couldn’t find the cache perhaps work men had moved it as there was a small digger and planks of new timber ready for a job. The trip back out to Skippers was fun especially on ‘the rock’ with all 6 vehicles needing to be winched up the face
Well that was a fun adventure. Off with 5 others for the night. Stayed at Dynamo Hut. River levels had dropped after all the recent rain, no river crossing were above the knee.
The geocache was on the ground so replaced as per spoiler photos. Interestingly was signed as recently as 3 days ago but obviously not a cacher as no logs on here in the last 2 years. cache in great condition. I bought a spare cache just in case so have popped that at Ah Sing's Willow tree on the way here and made a new cache there.
Thanks for the adventure, we loved it.

Jude E must have known I was after this one (sarcasm)!
For the past year I've been working on a challenge to find 15 years' (5479 days) worth of "unloved caches" (caches that haven't been found in at least 183 days) as part of a challenge cache in Melbourne (GC3KWWQ), and last week I noticed this one hadn't been found in more than 2 1/2 years. As part of my challenge I'm up to 5286 days. Since I'm leaving Queenstown in a few days after my annual winter jaunt, I wanted to do the Greenstone-Caples Track but didn't have enough time and opted for this grand walk to claim this cache. With my pack full, my camera and drone included, along with coffee, tea, muesli bars, and freeze-dried roast lamb with veggies and mint sauce, I was ready, only to double-check this cache and discover that Jude E found it just a couple of days ago! How heartbreaking!
However, getting here wasn't all in vain...in fact, it was 3/4 of the fun! 71 stream crossings I did! 71 times my boots were flooded. 71+ sandflies I swatted. 71 thoughts of euphoria as I dried my feet, unpacked my sleeping bag, food, camera, drone, and pen. I made my dinner, soared my drone, snapped a few photos, and logged a new cache! Jude E, if you hadn't have found it just a couple of days ago my challenge would have been completed!!! No love lost though, as I'll have to find another way to finish it. Thanks ogobodo for an awesome cache to go with a really awesome walk and a really cool hut! A definite favourite point from me!

Quick find once we made it up here. We stayed over night in the Dynamo Hut and walked up to the Red Dynamo as well. It had a switchboard and light. Still there but don't imagine they go now. Good walk. Great weather. Thanks for the cache
Cache is dry and a pencil is there for filling in the log. The cache might need a new home as there might be some restoration work done in the future on the dynamo as the timbers are buggered. Picked up triskel and will continue the journey
Well, I didnt exactly find the cache, but place was so obvious, that I replaced it. Hope, the owner doesnt mind.
I put round container with logbook and GC.

Staying in Arrowtown with family, when i noticed that a cache at the Dynamo gold village had not been found yet, it was an early morning start for 1jb and Ba1ley71 off to find it, we parked at the Skippers car park and set off on foot down into the gorge. After crossing the river about sixty times with the water up to our knees we arrived at gz, with the temperature up in the high twentys. we first admired the area which had a great little hut, but when we looked for the cache it proved unsuccessful, After studying the spoiler photo im sure that we were in the right area but i think that the cache has dissapeared.
That is a very big trek along the creek/river. it brings home what life would if been like 150 years ago in the gold rush. Unfortunately, could not find it, even with super spoiler pictures. On tour of NZ with Humdingers and Bailey71.
No sign of the cache, maybe muggled. Wouldnt be a bad idea to hide it near the Site rather than where muggles would be having a detailed look at the ruins.
Fantastic area, did the tramp to Archies Hut and over the tops to Bullendale and back out.
