Sadly I'm going to archive this listing, not because the cache has wandered off but because when I went to check it today I noticed a sign indicating that there is no access to the area where the tiny planes fly ( or flew ). I don't know if it is a temporary or perminant change as the flying area has signs it it still in use.

The interesting places you find while geocaching. Had the place to myself. Once I had a plain crash into my car. It was a place like this but a cliff. Car undamaged plane in many peices. Tftc

Needed a find for the day so between unpacking and cleaning house i decided i needed a break and off i went..as i pulled into the car park my initial reacton was 'oh no so many muggles' but i looked at the map and saw that i needed to walk away from the muggles so hooray, out the car i went and took the essentials, noticed on my way that not many muggles walked this way so glad i had GZ all to myself once i got there, twas an easy find & SL, then retreated back to the car to go home and wash the car. As we approached GZ, we could see a sole muggle and his tiny plane getting ready for some action. However he was too preoccupied with his hobby to notice us doing ours! Quick find of the log and we were heading away from the tiny airport with the muggle none the wiser and us with a smile. TFTC.

Deserted at lunch time today for a nice stroll on a very warm day to GZ. Straight-forward cache once I got there. Many thanks

28-Sep-12
The landscape has taken a beautiful green after the back-burning that happened a few months back. No tiny planes today, just the place to myself. No.43 in streak. SL Germouse TB visit

28-Jul-12
The sun was dipping very low to the horizon which meant that the place was happily deserted enabling rapid discovery of the cache. Quite nice and peaceful here at this time of the day with no one around.

#1307- and Day 51- Back in February, 2010, not long after starting caching, the family tried this one. We got so close, but got planed out. My other half found it not long after. Ever since then it's been on my radar to get back there, but I've never had the chance. Today, finishing work at lunch time, needing some 'me time' and not knowing what tonight would bring, I decided to nick out and get a cache to continue that streak i never imagined ever being able to do.
I remember before, we drove up close. Today I missed that entry and walked half a k each way(then spotted the drive in, about half way). When I got to the area, and not having read the notes, I looked in the original spot, having known where it was previously. I then looked at the GPS to make an instant find. Thanks Riblit- good to finally make this one smile!

Reperio at 1645.

As it was, I happened to be passing here on the way to another nearby cache and figured this looked like an interesting and historic cache to visit. Parked at the designated car park and wandered around the trails to GZ. Once there, I had the area to myself, and soon spotted the cache. You're exactly right when you say 'sometimes it's just interesting knowing what it used to be', and it certainly was.

I decided to check for some Munzees in the area and then realised this cache was fairly close. I didn't get the reference until I got close to GZ. Saw a bunch of people and cars and thought it might be remote control planes...Turns out I was wrong. Walked past them onto GZ and then started searching some obvious places. Finally made the find with ants all around. SL and replaced again.

Then I heard a WHOOOOOSH and as I turned around this rocket shot into the air. Coooool!! I watched as it hit it's peak and then started coming back down and the parachut popped out. Nice! I then waited and watched another 5 rockets do the same thing. This was a great little bit of fun on a nice sunny day. I'm glad I came at just this time. Thanx Riblit for placing one here, TFTC.

I really didn't know what was meant about the cache name until I got to GZ to see a tiny plane in action. Quite impressive! However, a cache needed to be found and that it was. A small search revealed the cache. TFTC.

Bit of crisp walk to GZ, over hanging dark clouds about. No body around. Quick find. TFTC

20-Mar-12
We attempted this cache a few years back but turned back when we heard the muggle activity around GZ. Struck out again today, except that we made it to within 50m of GZ before the muggles made their presence known. Pity there isn't a way to check which days are active to save a pointless walk from the car park. Our thanks anyway to Riblit.

16-Mar-12
I can't believe I wasso fixated on one location that I failed to even look at the obvious spot where the cache was eventually discovered completely exposed. I even resorted to pah who mentioned said one word and I turned atound and saw it right behind me - A real case of cachinf blindness - doh!!!

Baktrak beat Greyscreek and I to this at the end of a cycling day searching for geocaches. We'd parked our cars in the nearby carpark so not far to go now. SL. Thanks Riblit.

22-Oct-11
After a georide day with Baktrak and SJamp this was the one of the last caches on our list for the afternoon. Baktrak had it in hand before we had a chance to get off our bikes.

22-Oct-11
On a cycling cache hunt with sjamp and Greyscreek. One muggle remained late in the day but wasn't interested in 3, tired cyclists. Grabbed a first handful of cover and the cache magically appeared in my hand. TFTC

Found a tube near GZ I thought was the cache but it only had a spider in it. Switched to another simialr location and soon had CIH

TFTC ... Found it while with my brother-in-law on a flying day with his Model Aircraft Club. Magic spot for a walk and flying. Around lunch time the wind picked up and we went home. Good day!

27-Aug-11
I parked in the roight carpark, (after a bit of driving to get to it from the other side of the road) and immediately I could hear a plane in the air, so I followed the sound of the plane to the airfield.
Approching GZ was easy enough, but I did not think I would get a chance to make the find, when I "different" style of plane went up and everyone was suddenly busy watching it, so I took the chance to make a quick find and grab. I did not know this was here, and it was great to watch them - I used to fly the same type of planes xx years ago.
cheers.

23-Aug-11
Nice little place. Never knew about it. Thanks for the find.

04-Aug-11
Lovely stroll in the moonlight to a a likely spot and an easy find.

Wish I could have seen some tiny planes around, though!

Was glad to learn the history of this area.

Container was in good shape and the log scroll was dry.

Many thanks to Riblit.

Made a quick stop at the Parklands for this one today, on my way home from work. I'd never ventured off the GWH in this area before, so this park was a nice find. Must come back with the kidlets & bikes one day.

Cache was a quick find, coords were spot on. No planes around today, I had the area to myself. Started to rain just as I found the cache, so I signed quickly & got back to the car before I got too wet.

I turned the log book to the last 2 vacant pages to sign, so you might want to start planning a replacement log book if a few more people find this one. And maybe this isn't an issue, but the container didn't seem to close properly for me. It looked like the log book will stay safely contained due to your hide mechanism, but thought I'd mention it in case you think it is important.

Great cache. Smile

No driving to GZ...so I ran. Lovely spot at GZ. Quick find with coords spot on. Would have loved to have seen the tiny planes and the tiny pilots. SL Left calling card. TFTC

Nice walk to cache with geobaby.
You showed us a great place in our own backyard that we would normally just drive right by.
Once at site easily found. Watch out for muggles sneaking up on you though.
Thanks for a great find.

17-Jan-11
Lovely walk to this one even thought it was a super hot day. Lovely spot to go back and revisit with the bikes I think. Nice quick find once at the GZ location. managed to leave a tiny rubber.

17-Jan-11
Fantasic cache, this one was not originally on our list for the day, but a super walk (now slightly burnt I might add) and a quick find for my buddy Malkia and I. Left a small eraser.

26-Dec-10
Parked at the main carpark and walked the 500 metres to GZ only to be pasted
by a car on the dirt track. Arriving at GZ to find another car, still don't know where they accessed
that road. One muggle was actively engaged in flying his hellicopter and the other keenly watching,
so was able to retrieve and sign the log without being noticed. Clever use for that type of container.
TFTC.

My sister-inlaw has recently moved into the area so over the past few months I've got to see the little planes that buzz around here. Today I got to walk in here, luckily the place was empty and the cache was soon in hand.
Thanks

Nice little walk to the cache, frogs croaking, strange birds calling, snakes slithering andother day another find ... or two.

TFTC. Took TB

19-Oct-10
Had to delete entry to drop TB. Much easier to find when you actually have. the coordinates!

18-Oct-10
You know, I went for a walk around here a few months ago, knew there was a cache here because of the name, but my examination of the 'usual suspect' spots yielded nothing. Much easier with gps. TFTC. Took nothing, left TB.

16-Oct-10
Cache found in the second spot I checked. Another novel container.

As a trainee technician for OTC I had quite a few postings to the old Doonside HF transmitting station that used to be here, a bit of a trek from where I was living in the St George area at the time. And when listening to the ABC Cricket on the drive home you could hear the morse transmitter over the top for about 5km down the road. Guess that's why they had to close it down as houses encroached. The summer thunderstorms used to light up the antenna patch panel pretty well also.

More fun as a Shortwave Listener were my postings to the Bringelly receiving station, where with huge rhombic antennas and a $12000 digital receiver I could hear the low band Africans in the mornings that struggled to make it to Melbourne on any sort of normal setup. Thanks Riblit.

Hey I looked for about 30 mins I must have been blind but I did find a guitar pick on the ground hear the table so it might have been raided I hope not tho

16-Sep-10
I’m staying nearby at Eastern Creek, down here for work for the next couple of days. Found the cache after a good look around. I only had the phone GPS to work with, but it was surprisingly accurate this time. Very creative container! I signed the log and popped the cache back where it lives. I didn’t see tiny planes today, but there are a few parts lying around – a smashed wing, small engine part and what looked like half a propeller! Must have been a few mishaps last time they flew. This was a fun cache with a nice walk as well. Thanks from Kyogle, NSW!

19-Aug-10
First time I've visited this park and it's amazing! Really well designed. I look forward to how it progresses over the next few years!

18-Aug-10
A beautiful day for a nice walk... a very quiet spot on a midweek visit... not sure it would be so quiet on the weekend. TFTC

13-Aug-10
Had luck with this cache on the way home after work on a Friday 13th ( Black Friday). Would love to come back on a weekend day and see the little planes fly. It seems there is a lot of park development going on, so I don't know how much longer this area will remain for the little planes. TFTC.
Cheers

11-Aug-10
Bit of time before work, so I went back into an area where I have chased many grass fires with the rural fire service. The wind today was kind that whipped up very fast running ones. Thankfully none today.

Saw someones rocket stuck high in a tree and hoped that wasn't the cache!!!!!

08-Aug-10
Had some muggle relos with me today and brought them along to see what it is we keep talking about (GeoCaching).
Parked the car near the dog run and went for the 500m odd walk.
Found the rocket that went astray hanging out of the tree and the cache almost a quick.
Cache was a little smaller then we expected especially after the log yesterday about a traveler being dropped. By the way no traveler in cache on our visit but as it was late in the day there may be a log to come.
TFTC and our muggle reels enjoyed the walk and find.

08-Aug-10
picked the best daythey were firing rockets

Dropping off a TB that got mixed in with other tags. I have added something to it so that it stands out a bit now.

A local geocacher pointed out this cache to us last night - as well as the mystery close by - and suggested these would make a great walk for the family. So after swimming, we dropped off our towels, grabbed our walking shoes and headed out.

This cache was a lot of fun as there was one plane being flown. Zac and Dad were keen to see it up close. The pilot landed and refuelled his plane - during which time we grabbed the cache. While he was taking a break he chatted to us about his hobby and how they are finding it hard to fly in and around Sydney. It seems their home here is only temporary and they're negotitating with the park managers (familiar story) to stay. We then watched his plane take off again and do some acrobats. A great walk and fun time had by all.

24-Jul-10
Great little area, the park was a lot quieter 6 months ago when not many people were coming down, but now everyone is coming. Its great to see everyone out and about, a real shame about the amount of car parks the council provided though, really needs at least another 10.
We were able to find the cache, while the pilots were busy concentrating on flying their planes so that was great.
Had a great walk though, thankyou.

21-Jul-10
We found this one on our way to do the Nurragingy Reserve hides, great spot, GPS led us straight to the point. TFTC SL

26-Jun-10
Having not read the logs we struggled to find a way in with the GPS pointing to the scrub as we went along the GW Highway. Turned up Doonside Rd and found a car park then had a 500m walk to GZ. There were cars parked nearby - don't know how they got in. A few tokens left on the board. Found ourselves looking at a lump of concrete on the ground at GZ but widened the search and made the find, first one of these we've seen. Thanks!

05-Jun-10
I forgot about this one - Its there, just not where I first put it.

22-May-10
This was our 27th and final cache for the day, found just after the sun had gone down. I had this cache in my GPSr from a month or so ago, so I wasn't aware that it was currently down for maintenance. In the end it didn't seem to matter as the cache was exactly where the coords put us and it wasn't until just now logging the cache that I realised it wasn't supposed to be there? TFTC.

15-May-10
Past history

On the right hand side of the picture shown was a radio quiet room where we used to run things up and test them without causing interference to anything else, a well shielded Faraday cage. The downside was we couldn't listen to the radio while we worked.

The section heading out the back housed the transmitters. A lot of these were big old racks with valve radios in them. They then fed into a huge patch panel where we would stick metal connectors over to go from the transmitters to the antenna feeds, and these were serious antennas. Fed with open wire 600 ohm feeder cables. And you should have seen that antenna patch panel light up during a thunderstorm, with the earth about 2 inches away from the centre point, sparks would fly with the induced voltage from a nearby strike.

13-May-10
The cache has flown. I found another suitable place today so will replace this when I fashion a suitable container.

02-May-10
I wandered over today to watch the tiny planes. Didn't check the cache.

26-Apr-10
Very creative cache. Found this one easily.
Great place for a bike ride
TFTC

11-Apr-10
I was here years ago when the buildings existed. I didn't recognise the place with the buildings removed.
GZ was muggleless today, and on inspecting the location I realised that I must have been very lucky dropping by on a mid Sunday afternoon with no muggles about and no "Tiny Planes" dropping out of the sky.
The design of the cache was most interesting.. well done!!!
