It is a good area for people to explore so maybe someone else might take up the opportunity to place a cache here.

No cache found - found the log however the cache is nowhere to be found. CO needs to attend and check / maintain
A long and fruitless search. We sincerely hope it's still here and we'll get to have another go one day
Looked for quite some time, only one log tree, but surely it cant be that hard to find a ammo container. No cigar.
Met up with Toriaz and Bikerbuddy (and my geoson lachnic), for a bike ride out of the valley and back in. We were all less for the ride than first thought, so after a decent attempt to scale the hill, we turned back, passed (verb, not preposition) cars and continued on to this and its' neighbour cache. Great day for a ride. Great company too.
Yes, the ammo tin is damaged, but it was dry inside. It just needed a new log. I placed half a dozen or so pages of a log book I brought along for the other cache nearby. Plenty of paper to last the next couple of years.

I'm glad Alnic39 thought of these caches, I hadn't checked the geocaching map today before our ride. It just didn't occur to me that there might be nearby caches when we planned this bike ride today. The point of the day was to have the nice ride with friends, a few caches was a bonus.
We parked near the tearooms, rode out of the valley until near Mermaid's Cave, then turned and sped down the hill back to the cars. Then we decided to keep riding another 5 or so km to these caches, with this one first. Alnic got to this one first and made the find.
Thanks

Found it under the log as described. Hinge could do with a bit of oil as I had to leaver the lid open with my pocket knife
After breakfast at the Megalong Tearooms, frazeydaze and I decided to drive the few additional kms down the road to check out a couple of caches, one in the reserve and one opposite it. After a short walk through the camping area and along a geotrail we the had CIH. TFTC Jenmen.
After not finding Our Model T, oldmorty and I went in search of this cache. We walked through the Old Ford Reserve to the bush beyond. Firstly we followed the gravel road, then a trail through the bush. Thinking GZ might be back on the gravel road that led down to the river, I backtracked and came across some guys who'd got stuck trying the cross the river. There was nothing we could do, so oldmorty and I headed back into the bush looking for a door to open. Oldmorty found the cache and I was disappointed there was no door, or was there? TFTC Jenmen
This one certainly needs some attention, Not sure if Jenmen are still the CO or the resident wombat has taken over. Managed to dig the cache out and affect some repair to the ammo box. The lid now shuts but the locking latch is very tight so did not force it. Loved the area.
Very good hide. It doesn't look like it has been found in a while and so it is wedged into the hole and is surrounded by mushrooms. Due to new diggings (see photo) the cache is difficult to capture and sign the log. Can you please have a look at the container. Great hide. TFTC!

Nice Ammo Can, however it is stuck under the log.. will require CO maintenance.

Found while out taking my parents for a drive in the hills. We had stopped to have lunch and thought we would grab this on while we were here. Got to GZ and started the search. We found the Cache but a log had moved and pinned it down, we had to dig around it to get to it. We finally got to the lid only to find it was crushed open but the log was still dry. We signed it and put it back as best we could. The CO will need to do some maintenance as I didn't have a shovel on me to dig it out properly. Nice hide. TFTC.
Be careful to dodge campground bush toilet, but found as per hint and description. TFTC.
Found - bit off the main track but still a good find! FYI - pen enclosed doesn't work anymore, bring your own pen SK + SW x
Streak Day #1052 - Out on an anniversary picnic with dave8153, he picked a great spot with a couple of caches to nab after filling our bellies with food. Made a quick find. TFTC
Out with Team Merlin to find our daily cache to keep our streak going.
After dropping off our cargo to complete an overnight walk along the six foot track we knew we were in the area of two near by caches we decide to try and make a find for both.
Just completing the nearby cache Our Model T. We decided on leaving the car parked in the same location we plotted our next set of coordinates for the cache Old Ford Reserve. With coordinates in hand we headed off to locate the cache Old Ford Reserve as it was such a wonderful day we walked the short distance to GZ around the many muggle camp sites. With muggles in the distance we found a track which proceeded us towards GZ. As we approached GZ the like location was spotted with the cache fully exposed. The find was made for us. With the cache in hand, we both signed the log and replaced as found. Covering with natural camo found around GZ. The cache log and container are in good condition. No TB's present in the cache today. This was cache 2 of 2.

Out with JJCC for an early morning cache run in order to find our daily cache to keep our streak going.
After dropping off the nephew and friend for an overnight walk along Six Foot Track we headed back up Megalong Road for a few caches. After finding the Our Model T cache, we walked over to GZ of this cache. Approached GZ we spotted a likely hide location and the cache was found found fully exposed. With the cache safely in hand, we both signed the log before replacing as found and covering with some natural looking camo. Both the cache and log are in good condition.
TNLN.
Eight TBs visited - Bob geoMinion, Dave geoMinion, Evil geoMinion, Frogger, Jerry geoMinion, Larry geoMinion, Stuart geoMinion, Vanlith The Youngling.
TFTC Jenmen.
The one TB listed in the cache is unfortunately no longer here - Krazy Keychain

I found the cache easy enough but as I approached I noticed a red belly in front of it. I waited to see what it would do but it slid right under the cache. No way I was retrieving that. Next time I'm staying this way I'll have another go at it.
Up in the blue mountains celebrating our wedding anniversary. Csme out to megalong valley for lunch at the tea house. Came a little further to grt the ford reserve caches. Thanks for a big cache .
I had spent the majority of the day up on Radiata Plateau so a nice drive by cache that could be found while wearing thongs was in order. This one was a spot on my map that needed finding. The long air-conditioned drive to it didn't hurt either.
There were a few families having picnics by the river when I arrived. This cache was way out of sight though.
I took the hair clip TB.

7/ 07/15. 1:41 PM. Cache #2659. Streak day #380.
Went bushwalking today with the family up near Blackheath (Centennial Glen circuit). No caches along the circuit, but that was okay; I'd already picked up two in Lawson this morning. After our walk, we'd built up an appetite and geowife was interested in the sign pointing us to the Megalong Valley tea rooms. We headed there next for a sensational Devonshire tea. I'd never been to Megalong before, so after our late morning tea (in the afternoon?!?), I wanted to explore a bit more - we headed down to this park. I then casually mentioned that there was a cache here (LOL), so geowife begrudgingly waited while Yelyac and I took off for an easy find. TFTC.

Yay, at last we've made 700! Thanks for the cache, and the clue. What a pretty spot this is! and brings back memories of the Six Foot Track.
Gorgeous camp site which includes toilets and bins and best part is its free. Well worth a visit but make sure you visit the mermaid caves as well which you drive past on megalong road

Confused by the logs we took longer than needed to find this cache. We should have followed the original hint. TNLNSL. Cache in good order. TFTC.
Catching up on logging after realising how slack I had been in logging finds, lucky the gps stores them. Apologies for the delay in sending through the logs. A quick find on the trek. TFTC Jenmen. [1770]
When I found it I was just reading what other people said to my dad all I had to do was look up left the pink flamingo ;D
Took me a while to find this cache. Got distracted by the nearby wombat hole and by what looked like an obvious cache coverup. Just as I uttered the words "oh well, its a nice place to visit again" I spotted the real cover. It was being protected by a skink who let me pick up his piece of bark, lay it down gently next to me whole I signed the log and then replace it while he just lay there. Either not warmed enough to run away or just acting like a stunned mullet, I'm not sure......
Love the ford reserve park as a picnic spot. Tftc

A perfect winter's afternoon to follow the road to the valley floor with stunning cliffline views along the way. A park in the quiet reserve and an easy meander to the GZ.
A nice bushland pocket with many an animal fresh droppings, but old eyes saw none ... though the birdlife was in full chirp and chatter.
A review of the hint and I would question that the Cache is where it should be - and not a few metres away, somewhat exposed along a geotrack. Left where found and covered as best could, the CO may care to do a check. TFTC Jenmen

Nice to wander around the reserve without a pack on, after a weekend of bushwalking a bit further up the road. Lots of people still enjoying the reserve on a sunny Sunday afternoon, but all quiet out at the cache location.
TNLNSL, thanks for the cahce Jenmen.
best wishes,
Wal

Last one before a well earned lunch at the nearby picnic tables. Big wombat hole close to the cache but no hairy visitor while searching. Thanks for the cache and greetings from France!

A l'heure du pique nique, la team fait un stop à proximité de caches. On en profite donc ! Thanks from France.
Found with Mummy Mirage and Daddy Ewilund.
Funny to see the wombat hole nearby...
Thanks for the cache and Hi from France!

Camping here on our Six Foot Track walk. Popular (almost crowded) campsite. TNLN. TFTC.
Very nice spot for camping and swimming, although a bit too popular. The cache was great and big enough for a swap, so we finally parted with Campervan Redux, after many camping adventures together. IN: TB Campervan Redux; OUT: TB: Boomerang. TFTC! -geppp and son
Great cache. Looked as if someone was camping right next to it so we went round behind and the access was very easy. My boy had plenty of fun with the super ball we grabbed. TFTC.
Found this delightful cache today with a gaggle of kids in tow. Did multiple swaps and signed the log. Shut the door TFTC. #181
Our 100th find. This was preplanned. I have been camping here for 41 years and have had many a good camp with the family and friends. It was very interesting to see the water level of last weeks heavy rain 8-10' above the creek level. We left a Travel bug for the next cacher
Found with The GeoFam after a picnic and splash about for the geopooch near the creek. Gps was a bit allover the place, but after reading the hint, an easy find. TFTC
Spending a weekend up the road with a big group of friends I found the time after golf and before beer oclock to sneak down the road for a couple of caches.
Cache found once GPS settled down and in great shape.

Heading down in Megalong valley revived so many memories. We use to come down here when we'd just got our licences and camp at this spot, so to return today was a nice opportunity.
The place had changed a bit, for the better. Walking around around we soon spied GZ and the was quickly in hand.
Thanks

Great spot that I have never really noticed before. Was tempted to stop and camp here but needed food and water after a big day walking from Pack Saddlers to the Coxs Rover and back.
An excellent cache!!

TNLN thanks for a great cache. We were having trouble finding it until the GPS kicked in and took us us to a slightly lower place - a little lower than the highest walking track. Largest log was a giveaway!
The Megalong valley is a beautiful place and we'd been here a number of times for various walks. Had never camped at this reserve but have always thought it looked very pleasant. No one was camped there when we pulled in and parked. Headed off for a short stroll and soon had a nice ammo tin located. Great spot.
After doing Mermaids Cove decided to just see where the road took us - so glad we did what a great drive, and three caches at the end of it as a reward. TFTC

Headed out to find it but it got too dark too quickly. Was having a few teething probs with a new GPS too. Will have to come back another time.
We stayed here last night. As soon as I left the car in the morning I had no gps signal anymore. I found the cache afters searching the hint..
Reperio at 1320.
After parking and heading over to grab 'Our Model T', I wandered over to this one amidst plenty of muggles resting and camping, but the cache was nicely hidden away well out of their sight. This is a beautiful little place to stop for a rest, and well hidden away from the rest of the world. Very peaceful and quiet.
