Logs
This is one of those caches that I never intended to find, it certainly was not one that I had saved off-line, for I had no intention of heading this way on advance, but it was one of those rare caching moments when you are walking and see a spot and think "gee that would be a great place to hide a stash" and what do you know, of course there was one there... it was great because we stopped briefly here just as I was uncovering it for some water so I had time to sign it and all!Cheers bum and worker, lobe your stuff.. cheers!-- This log is trackable ! ---- Feel free to discover ---- Please mention, in which cache you've seen this code: ---- 3TABQX --
First time riding the Coppermine Trail and man, what a treat it was! The ride up is nicely forested and easy to follow. Also not too hard since it's never very steep or rocky, just long When the forest gives way to open landscape the route becomes really spectacular! Once over the saddle, the first part downhill was very nice, until I encountered the machinery, which I knew meant the fun part of the descent was over. A very rocky and tough section followed but I survived and back in the forest the last part of the descent was nice again. Then along the Maitai back home, great day!And of course I had to stop for all the caches along the way. I decided to not include an individual description for each of them because all of them were found in 1 up to maybe 5 minutes of searching (except one, which is missing). It was a much smoother geocaching experience than I anticipated, which added to the great fun of the day. Thanks very much to all CO's!
One year and 5 months since the last find and it was great to see the log and container were in good condition - no water ingress at all, and the log dry and easy to write on. Couldn't say the same for what I can only imagine is the original - a soggy plastic bag with old mushy paper rotting away, tucked in behind the nice dry screw top in front.
Anyway, super fast find which was nice, as I wasn't going to look since I was on a mission to Windy Point.
Headed up here today to burn off the coke, donut and burger I had for lunch. NZH leggies only (no e-bike) and continuation of the 2022 lard reduction program.
TFTC Bum. Good water flow in the creek too.

I initially looked on the wrong side of the stream. But I won't tell you whether that was before or after I rode through the creek. A quick find once I located myself in the right place.
A few days in the hills. The plan was to start at Brook St and head into Rocks Hut via Coppermine & Dun Saddles. Spend the night at Rocks Hut and out via Totara Saddle, Browning Hut to the Hackett carpark - caching enroute.
The weather was great with frost in the shaded area's staying all day.
This was No:3 for today. Pretty much knew where this cache would be and it was making it the fastest find for today. All good here.

Had met a lady coming down who commented on the heat - yes, stinking hot. So we stopped at the creek, washed our hands (to get the smell off) and settled down to enjoy lunch in the shade. Signed the elastoplast... yes! Left waterproof paper as a replacement logsheet.
Log was very wet, managed to scratch my name on the sodden paper then decided to see what I had in my pack to replace it. All I had was the tail end of a roll of strapping tape in my first aid kit so folded the sticky bits together to make a strip. Worked well, found a small bag in my pack for it time go in. Quick find in the obvious spot. Log was damp though, but could just manage to write. thanks for the cache.
Out to enjoy a ride around the Dun Mountain Trail. Superb weather and an excellent scenic ride. Picked up a few caches en route. TFTC
Out for a nice day walk with Marchwood today. Up from Maitai to Dun Mountain then down to here and Lime Kiln before returning to the dam. He had already found this one. A quick one.
Thanks bumandworker for the cache.

After numerous trips up to Third house it was time to complete the trail and bag a few caches on the way.
A quick stop for water and we were away.

Yay! This one was sheltering from the wind above. Thanks for this remote cache.
Quick find on MTB ride along with Q,Moto, while completing Copper Mine Trial. TFTC
Great spot to refill the bladder! Quick and easy find, and good to have a rest on a hot day's ride over the saddle. THanks, still in good order.
Water stop while doing the Coppermine loop.
Did this without a GPS. Knew there was one around here somewhere and had just filled my water bottle when I saw a rock which looked out of place.
No pencil so I couldnt sign.

Out doing the "new" MTB trail over Dun saddle. Nice excuse for a stop here. Nearly at the top. Still plenty of water about but very hot and dry today.

Water stop during cycle crossing. These caches give excellent reasons for regular stops! Tftc

epicdom's GPS had the stream before this marked as Coads Creek, but it's insignificant compared to the one at the location of this cache so I'm thinking it must be wrong. Very glad for a break here, my chain kept skipping on the rear gears making it very tiring work (although I think I would have been tired without that too!) TFTC
Walked around from the Copper Mine Saddle to this one. Filled a water bottle from the creek too.Walked back round to Windy Point and on to the 'Tin Lids' cache from here. TFTC, Biggles.
Never planned to do this one but just noticed it on the GPS screen when walking by.
Great spot. The ice sculptures in the ferns here have to be seen to be believed! Cool (as in Brrrr....) area for a ride. TFTC.
Easy find with directions, my GPS was way out? Worth the walk round the corner to windy point. Back another day to go further.
Quick find- nipped across from Coppermine Saddle after biking/ pushing up from Maitai Dam. Good one, thanks Bum.
updated the cache page after a comment about short arms ......he he

Flora found this while tramping with Jackie from jackieandgrant. One would need to be an orangutan to reach it without leaving the track!!
Found with Flora of "nickgastrell". Part of an overnight from Maitai/Rocks Hut/Brook. Howling wind on top today, so nice to get out of it in the bush.
TFTC,
Jackie.

I checked this cache last weekend(17/04/10) and it`s not were it should be. It may have being mugged!!
I spent ages and ages looking for this. It must be there but it totally elluded me which is pretty annoying considering how far I'd come. I'll be back but not before some others find it. Cheers
A great place to stop and soak the feet. Pity it isn't deep enough for a swim....
Found with Burlis and GazSuz this morning. More chance of being muggled up here this morning than in the main street of town. Fantastic morning to be riding.Thanks.
Found with Navfam and GazSuz while out for a MTB ride. A real team effort as Navfam had the GPS, Gaz expertly paced out 14 steps to hone in on GZ, Suz helped Gaz to count to 14 and I ....well....hmmm...what did I do?! I enjoyed the beautiful environment we were in. TFTC
I had being watching this cache for a few days and no one had gone for the FTF .So I`ll have it, thanks Bum for the ride.
