10:15 - Very nice place, the entrance and exit are cool to see. Thanks.
To explore the island today we are going from the east coast to the west coast. We drive over the Arthur Pass through very varied landscapes. Sometimes the valley is narrow, sometimes it is wide. Then again we drive along a wide river delta. We see bare mountain slopes and then again forested mountains. So our tour is never boring. We choose a few caches along the way to search for and log.Earthcaches, labcaches and virtuals are also popular. This cave was beautiful and we like it and the EC - so we give an Favoritenpoint. A big thank you to all owners and greetings from the Moorhelmi
Great spot thank you for bringing us here. I walked through the cave when I was much younger and was not tempted to go into it today. (I sent my answers to the CO).
Thanks for the cache. We had a great time walking through the cave today with the kiddos (8&4).
We drove throught Arthur's Pass and stopped at Cave Stream. Answers sent to the owner. We did not walk through the cave, we were not prepare to have water chest high. The walk is nice to see the entry and the exit of the cave.
Found with Dali87 within our amazing trip around New Zealand. Thanks for nice cache ....................................................................... TB Koumesovo geopivo DDEV7M
Together with Travelser I'm going Down Under. We are driving around with a motorhome. After 7 weeks driving around through Australia we arrived the 2th November in New Zealand. For ten days we will cross the Northern Island and than for 2 weeks the Southern Island.During our trip we of course search for several caches. Most of them brought us to very nice spots, like this one.All the CO's, and in this case TheWonderStuff, thanks for bringing us here and give our trip a special accent.
After traveling around Australia with Oopie for 7 weeks, we have now been traveling with the camper in New Zealand for 4 weeks. Along the way we will of course also visit various types of caches in beautiful places, including this one.Because we make the answers together, wish your permission Oopie wil sent the answers. Thanks CO for creating and laying this cache.
We visited this earthcache today on a bright winter's day. Trifolia B scrambled over the stream in gumboots to try to measure the bearing and cave mouth width more directly that way. But below the escarpment the GPS was only accurate to 7m. Estimates were made in other ways also, with a more traditional compass. Answers emailed to CO. A very interesting place, both for its history and geology. TFTC!
Down in Christchurch for a few days and today we had a day up in the mountains. Happily collected quite a few caches including this earthcache. Answers sent to the CO, thanks for setting up the cache
On a quick visit from Melbourne to see a school friend living in Christchurch. Originally an Aucklander, I’ve never been to the South Island. I’ve been super impressed with Christchurch and particularly the stunning Arthur’s Pass drive. We were so lucky with weather - got to see the first sprinkle of snow on the mountains yet had a clear sunny day while we travelled the area.
Not sure I’d be brave enough to walk through the cave but it was interesting to see from the outside at both ends.

Lovely sunny day for a break in the drive from Arthur's pass after a weekend at Bealey hotel for my daughter's wedding.
A wander around the viewing track. Plenty of people going through cave. I want to do it one day. My bucket list
Caught a group exiting cave all suited up.
Sent answers, hopefully the right ones to CO.
A great EC. Thanks.

Heading back East to the plains today. I stopped here and took a stroll down to Earth Cache GZ. Interesting spot. . TFTC
Answers were sent. I did not go caving but enjoyed walking around the area. TFTC
Inspite of the very changeable weather we had a really impressive walk around the Cave Stream and took lots of photos. Besides we looked for some caches. One of this was the EarthCache. Thanks for showing this place to us!
"Walking" through this cave was the biggest challenge for me so far on my travels around New Zealand.Greetings from the Czech Republic and Thanks For This Cache.

Amazing location, made the time to come and explore the area. The plan is to return with rebel98 to go thru the cave.
Today a group of 300 scouts part of the Selwyn Safari are due to go thru the cave system. They are just finishing a 13km walk and overnight stay, navigating to the carpark, getting ready for a wet adventure.
Thanks for the Earthcache, whilst I did walk down to the entrance, decided to not get my boots wet, will save that fun for later.

I wandered in both ends as far as I could without immersing myself.
The cave is amazing but I found it too cold to walk though without a wet suit - maybe next time I'll be better prepared.
An excellect EC, answeres sent via GC messenger.
Thanks TheWonderStuff

Greetings from Queensland! We have 1 final full day in NZ so have come for a drive up to Arthur’s pass to check out the area.
We are heading back to Christchurch and we have a little bit of time to make some stops on the way back. Other than for food, this was the only stop the teenager got out of the car!
It was a really nice walk and a really cool cave to check out. Definitely too cold for me to go caving, that water would be icy! Thanks for highlighting the area, answers sent.

A lovely walk down to this one today. I sent off the answers to the co. I did the caving trip back in the 80’s and real enjoyed it. TFTC
Busy here today. Interesting spot and some people had just come thru the cave. Tftc
After coming back from the Avoca Homestead trail of caches (left plenty to revisit the area) I thought I'd collect these. A really cool area, A nice thing about being new to the area is finding places like this through Geocaching. Sending the answers through shortly, thanks for bringing me here!
TFTC TheWonderStuff, the cache was found in good order Signed, sealed and returned to GZ. 12 find(s) of 26 today, making this find #2804

Travelling through to Arthur's Pass today and called in here for some caches and to do the tourist thing as well.
Thanks for a fun earth cache. Wouldn't have come here otherwise

Early last month I was in the area and did this. Hoping answers sent were correct!
Have the week off and decided I would wait and see where there would be good weather and head off on a mini caching roadtrip... right now the west coast is looking great, so over I go. The FB post of a new Geotour coming out is very exciting and maybe that will help me decide where to go next.

* 20+ years of geocaching worldwide.
* 20+ years since New Zealand had the very first geocache hidden outside of USA.
* All the 20s and now 21 as well!
Talk to your geo-friends and start planning to be part of [this event](http://nzmega.com) - you won't want to miss it!

A fascinating place and lots of people out enjoying the environs today. Thanks for the earthcache.
Had a good wander around and saw both ends (but not the middle today) off the system.
Day 4 of my 2020 NZE (New Zealand Experience).
Seeing as I can't be in America right now, I'm touring around the South Island instead. During my time here I am aiming to find as many of the TMGT caches as I can (preferably all 41) and also as many Virtuals, Earthcaches and Letterbox Hybrids as possible, plus any Trads or others that will fill a hole in my D/T grid, my Jasmer grid, or else the last 3 remaining Hidden Dates on that grid.
This is when it starts to get serious. Last night I had my first taste of freedom camping in the campervan. Having cached until it was dark, I had no real idea of where I was when I parked up last night, apart from simply knowing that the nearest township was Sheffield. But I awoke this morning to see that I had chosen a very quiet spot by a river. Two cups of coffee later and I was ready to get on my way again.
Today I was looking to finish up in Greymouth. I have never driven through Arthur's Pass before so that was going to be another first for me on this trip. Every so often I would stop to break up the drive whenever I saw somewhere of interest, and this was such a place as there was an Earthcache available.
Parking up, there were a few other folk around but no-one anywhere near this cache as I wandered over to look at it. I was able to walk down into the cave mouth to estimate its size as well as take my Altitude reading etc. and I was back on my way again after snapping off a couple of photos.
Thanks for placing this cache.

Enjoyed walking around Cave Stream. Pity did not come prepared for a walk in the cave so have to put it on my 'bucket list' to come do another day. Thanks heaps for this earth cache. And a bit more info into the grey matter today. Fave from me. Cheers
Its Saturday and we explored from Lake Lyndon to Coal Pit Spur Track. So lets go!!
Its Queens Birthday weekend and The Seagnoid, Zara and I are heading out of town for a long weekend to Arthurs Pass, via Kaikoura. Had a fantastic weekend, seeing lots of new places, limestone formations, amazing views, awesome beech forest walks, but getting nowhere fast. Bloody cold at times with -3deg frosts but thankfully the snow stayed on the top of the highest mountains.. Enjoyed driving back via Lake Brunner, Murchison. An awesome few days exploring.

What a nice cave! and I am a caver from way back, would be fun to walk this short beastie, but alas most of my kit is not here, so would be a little awkward.
Shame about the spoilt photos on the cache page
Taybeedragon and I are on a five day extended Queen's Birthday weekend. Happy birthday marm! The plan was to cache the Arthur's Pass route, from Rangiora to Lake Buller. You would think four days was enough to do the 211 kilometers, but we didn't even manage the 130 to Arthur's Pass village before we had to pull the pin Monday lunchtime for the drive back to Blenheim. But on the way we saw some amazing views, strange geology, weird amounts of ice in the puddles, ice on the inside of our windscreen - it was that cold. Caves, wonderful beech forests, rather a lot of bridge barriers and even a cache or few. And there was blisters, sliding down icy grassy hills on our bums (what fun!) and rather a lot of walking. Many thanks to all the cache owners that made this such an amazing trip.

What a nice place, we visited both the entrance and exit of the cave, and will get ready to explore it next summer. The surroundings are really nice, and this is worth the stop. Thanks for placing this here!
[#1353 | 17:00] Awesome place, one of the top experiences on our New Zealand journey.

Travelling from Arthurs Pass to Springfield today and one of our stops along the way was at Cave Stream. This is a popular place with lots of people here enjoying the sunshine and exploring the cave. Thanks for an extra reason to visit.

At my first day with a (rented) car in NZ I drove from Christchurch to Arthur's Pass and back to Amberley. I great roadtrip with stunning views! I also found a few caches. This was one of them. Here I had a really nice little walk. TFTC
On the way back to Oxford from a day in the Arthur’s Pass area, delighted to stop here and see this stream. Good to see folk emerging after walking through.

Super cool! If I had a wetsuit...
KL6 and I are in NZ for 16 days or so exploring the South Island mostly by campervan—with a few shoulder days in BnBs. We plan to visit the Fjordland first—Milford Sound—and the back track and head all the up the Punakaki Pancake Rocks vía the west coast, stopping by Franz Joseph along the way. Then back down to the lakes, Tekapo, Punaki, Mt Cook, and then Wanaka. Finally we’ll return back to Queenstown after our huge campervan adventure. Lastly back to Australia for a couple nights before heading back home to the USA.
Obviously, we stopped by this cache along the way. We originally had about 171 caches on the list to be near and check out. Whether due to favorites, or a planned stop for the evening. We have planned the adventure using cachetur.no which is amazing by the way. Highly recommend the website and app when you’ve got a lot to see and find. Helps keep you on track and it’s awesome to have a schedule with time estimates of when you’ll arrive at the next destination and if you’re ahead or behind schedule.
Thanks to TheWonderStuff for the Cache! Found around 8:59 AM - I often sign as Wæki3 (shorthand for Wæki3_KL6 due to small logs and or KL6 not being with me for the cache find). But this is an earthcache so did we sign!? This is Find #2191.
We have also contributed a lot of caches in the Flagstaff Arizona area, and currently to date we’ve hidden 85 caches. Even if you’re not in the area, I’m really into creating interesting and creative puzzles. I have some clever ones—many to do with logic, math, graphic design, or games. Checkout my certitudes page for a collection of many of the Unknown (Mystery) caches I’ve created (https://www.certitudes.org/feed?u=W%C3%A6ki3_KL6). Perhaps after a few solves, you’ll find yourself in the area.

A nice Earthcache off the main road on a big Geocaching day for Capperz and myself through Arthur’s Pass.
I remember a field trip in my university days out here when a group of us from UC geography department based ourselves at Craigieburn to do some field testing. My original idea was to do some water alkalinity measures in the area and I am pretty sure, maybe 99% sure, this stream was my target. That idea I quickly realised was a bit average, so I did some needle ice field tests instead and never got out here. Fun times. But now I have. Nice spot, good Earthcache and that is interesting about the Māori backpack.
Photo attached, conveniently to not give much away about the width of the stream.

A couple (more) Wonderstuff caches to add to previous finds, and another goodie and sound reason to get off the highway. All good and answers will be sent shortly for this and the other EC.
Onto the trail proper now, it's caching all the way for lots of park n grabs and a couple of modest walks.
It's the last full day of the trip and I intended to make the most of the day and was up with the lark, cockerel more like, and in the car at 0530 ready to get going. I called in for an early brekkie and hit the road early to meet Ricardinho.nz at Springfield. We cached our way back to the West Coast via road barriers and others en route and I set off for home after leaving him in Greymouth after visiting all 8 of the TMGT caches there. Home at 7PM and a decent haul of over 80 caches, including 5 Earthcaches. Awesome scenery and views and a cracker day of weather too. 620KMS for the day travelled and time for a rest!
It's that time of year again when Marlborough residents get a double bubble, two 3-day weekends in a row and a chance to get out there and find some caches. Last weekend I headed over to Golden Bay with ricardinho and we managed a healthy numbers-boosting haul of 82 over 2 days. This weekend I'm planning on finding some already solved Canterbury caches and get me closer to a 5 figure finds number, the big 10,000. At the start of toSaturday this was a 4 day, at the end it was a 120 plus day!!
The Saturday was planned to be a big day and to get over 100 caches in a day if possible and start converting those puzzle pieces into smiley faces. Success was achieved in that we found over 120 each. I personally found my missing Smurfs, Metal Mania, Glossary of Geocaching as well as a number of other solves and collateral Traditionals. The Canterbury weather turned it on and a good day was had with ric.nz driving and me navigating (sort of)
The Sunday was a Geo-art loose ends day. My plan wqas to track down the remaining Smurfs, round up some horses and grab a couple of loose Eclipse mint tins. I also explored the realms of Springfield in preparation for a return across SH73 on Monday.

Found with fellow cachers bairdfmly. TFTC. Not enough snow for skiing, so nice afternoon for some fresh air anyway doing some geocaching.
Was keen to take on the cave but unfortunately we just didn't have the appropriate gear. Also the weather was miserable but in the cave that may not of mattered. I spoke to a guy that was exiting and he said it was awesome. Perfect place to do a earth cache. Another great stop on our Easter weekend west coast trip. Tftc
TFTC. Out with RogoWiz for a look at the cave entrance/exit.

Down from Northland, visiting the South Island on a 7 day caching and sight seeing trip. The main object was to find the last four CANZ caches, finish off my D/T grid, fill as many spaces as possible in my Jasmer grid and then concentrate on special types, solved puzzles, completed challenges and those with good numbers of favourite points, plus maybe a few extras that were close to any of our stopping points.
The trip started off on a good note, with our rental cache mobile being little more than a week old and only 109 kms on the clock. It certainly had a few more by the time we returned it..!
Final day today and heading back across to Christchurch from Greymouth in the only rain for the trip, but even that was clearing once we made it to Arthurs Pass. Made a bit of a muck up too for today. Last night, I had planned out the caches to target on the way and added them to a list on the phone. However, I forgot the crucial step of downloading the offline data, so when I stopped in the Otira gorge to see how far to the first one, there was no signal and no information. Luckily a few kms further on at a higher point, there was one bar reception and I managed to get some of the data required.
Closer to here, the reception was better, so I downloaded a bit more cache data and this was one of them. Even the rain has disappeared this far from the alps and a nice sunny day here now. Very interesting rock formations around here and interesting to learn about the local geology. Answers sent to CO. TFTC

TFTC

Tregearp and I stopped on our way over to the West Coast for the nearby Traditional, to get the information for this Earth cache and then did the walk through Cave Stream.
Although I've passed by here more times than I can remember it was good to stop and finally complete the passage through Cave Stream. The water wasn't as cold as I'd anticipated - but saying that it did take one's breath away when first entering as the outside temperature was high-twenties / low-thirties. The water was only about waste deep at its highest point although at some narrow choke points where there were waterfalls the strength of the torrent made it difficult work to get up through.
Thanks TheWonderStuff for adding the Earthcache to the motivation to stop here. A great experience and recommended for anyone who maybe considering whether to do it or not - remembering to carefully note the safety considerations. People have died here when ignoring them.

After Christmas in ChCh we headed for a jolly to Moana and the West Coast stopping off to checkout the area for a few caches and a leg stretch. Sorted out information quickly and answers sent through to CO. Thanks for an interesting earth cache.

Found on a dog walk.
We want to do the Cave Stream walk through the cave but that's for another time. This time we just stopped to have a look to it from the outside.
Stream a little stream of me...

Found while on the way from Christchurch to Moana for the long weekend. A lovely place to stop go for a short walk to complete this cache. Afterwards I sat on the hill above the carpark and ate my dinner before heading off. Thanks for giving me a reason to stop.
Sunny and warm Sunday but no other people at the entrance. Really nice place. Answers mailed, thanks for the Earthcache.
We enjoyed stopping and have a look around the cave. As we didn't have the right gear with us we didn't venture too far down the stream but it's something we'd like to do and next time will come more prepared. Thanks for an interesting earthcache.
Lovely walk to have entrance. Couldn't make out down to exit due to mud. Lots of muggles around. Beautiful location
Finally getting around to logging some of the earth caches we have visited and gathered the information and photos for. The required information has been sent to the CO. We were driving along and noticed we were approaching another earth cache, then we came around the bend and saw the carpark - it was so incredibly busy. We joined the crowds of people and had a look around. What a fantastic opportunity for families to experience this together. We noticed a boy standing on the track, it was obvious that he had been through the cave, we had a good chat to him - he had had the best time. We would love to bring our grandkids here when they are a bit older.
We spent ages here, once we had gathered the required information for this earth cache we had to wait for some muggles to finish eating so that we could find a traditional cache while we were here.
Thank you so much for showing us this place and this potential experience, definitely a favourite from us

Back on the road again for another international trip. This time to Australia, New Zealand, Taiwan and South Korea.
Like our previous trips we focussed on old caches, high favorites, rare cache types and pretty locations.
Most of the trip was together with Plaguerider, Zanna and FLtravelers, but some of it I did solo.
Logs were signed as DATT (Do All The Things) and if there were answers, we typically sent them as a group.
Thanks for maintaining the caches for us.

**Trip log:**
Found during Team DATT's (Do All The Things) annual international caching trip consisting of FLtravelers, PlagueRider, waterfan5 and myself. Africa kicked it all off back in 2016, with a follow up European tour last year. I tried to pitch Asia but the pull of the Great Ocean Road and completing our 6th continent was too strong, and we landed on week long road trips through both Australia and New Zealand. Before meeting the team in Sydney though, I was able to schedule some layovers in Asia (Beijing, Bangkok and Singapore), so in the end I got a bit of everything. =)
**New Zealand Day 14 - Greymouth -> Christchurch:**
Our last day in NZ! It was packed with lots of fun things though, my favorite being the giant boulders at Castle Hill; what an absolutely amazing place! Driving through Arthur's Pass was also pretty neat, along with our evening explorations in downtown Christchurch. While the country may be small, it provided us with lots of fun memories I'll cherish forever. Perhaps one day I'll find my way back. =)
**Cache Log:**
Very cool place to visit! Answers for the group have been or will be sent soon.

We’re on our annual international geocaching trip as Team DATT (Do All The Things) comprised of FLtravelers, PlagueRider, waterfan5, and zanna. This year we chose to explore Australia and New Zealand. Zanna and I decided to do a two-day stopover in Beijing, a three-day stopover in Bangkok, and a 12-hour layover in Singapore on our way to meet up with the rest of the team in Sydney.
Once we got the Team back together, we made a “bee-line” to Lane Cove and various caches around Sydney. Then we headed down the coast on A1. After visiting Wasp Head, we headed up through Canberra and down M31 to Melbourne, after a webcam stop on Mount Buller.
We had a great time in Melbourne, which is my favorite city in Australia so far, then onto the Great Ocean Road, the highlight of Australia for this trip. After a couple days (not nearly enough) we left the ocean road and headed up A6 towards Victor Harbor (webcam) and Adelaide (webcams) for our flight to Auckland. Seems we found every webcam in Australia.
After a short week in Australia, we flew into Auckland and continued with our explorations in New Zealand. We drove over to Tauranga, and then down to Rotorua and Taupo, enjoying the thermal features. We headed down 5 to Napier, with stops at a couple of waterfalls, and then down to Wellington to catch the ferry to the South Island.
We spent the night in Picton, and then over to the awesome west coast, before crossing over Arthur’s Pass on our way to Christchurch for flights home.
We targeted old caches, highly favorited caches, earthcaches, virtuals, and of course webcam caches, and anything else that got our interest along the way. Logs were signed DATT. Answers, where required, were sent by one of the team members. Thanks for adding to the enjoyment of our trip with this cache. Great spot.

We did the Cave Stream and then gathered this information. You have to do the stream!
(Answers sent to CO). Sister Raewyn wanted to walk through the cave but the river was running too high and too swiftly... I just amused myself with finding the answers to the geocache.... T4tc
Had a look at the end of the Cave Stream. Seems fun to go through it, maybe I will do it once

Had a great day at Castle Hill. Very hot and sunny. The family did the cave while I babysat the 3 year old. He was excited to help me find the two traditional caches close by! tftc! Happy New Year
I really love limestone formations for the amazing ways water interacts with it to create cool and surprising formations. This was one of them, and I was engaged by the whole experience, especially the moment when I learnt that the valley I was in was the old stream bed. Cool stuff! TFTEC!
On our way home for Xmas. This was a good spot to stop for lunch and a post-prandial stroll... delightfully cool in the water. We must come back and do the cave!
A really cool place to go! Wasn't expecting to have such a fun trip through the caves! Bring good shoes, a good torch and be prepared to get wet if you do the cave though. The caves were a real adventure, that you do can just go and do yourself, for free! Something becoming rarer these days. A really enjoyable and one of our most memorable experiences from our holiday to NZ! Definitely a cacheworthy spot!
T-Tech and I are travelling around South Island for 6 weeks
We stayed at Greymouth last night, and today we are driving back across to Christchurch through Arthur's Pass [^] Oh my this was a lovely spot! We spent quite a while walking everywhere, and collecting a few caches. We watched a few folk coming out of the cave stream while considering our answers, which I have sent to the CO. Over from Brisbane for a number of weeks "motorhoming" around the South Island with IolantheK [^]
Now on our way back to the west coast before heading East again via Arthur's Pass, and grabbing caches between views [^]
Arthur's Pass is amazing [^] Quick grab of the info and a selfie photo of both of us (see IolantheK's log for photo) and we were off again

Answers sent by email which with new app is much more difficult than messaging especially since we haven’t had wifi for a couple of days and even now are barely connected to phone data. Really enjoyed visit to cave watched 2 small groups come through but far too cold and dark for us. NINO TFTEC
What a great spot! A highlight of my first ever trip to NZ. I only wish I had time to do the cave. Maybe next time.
Today’s leg in Janene our Jucy van is Christchurch to Punakiki, much more scenic than yesterday’s Dunedin to Christchurch and today the sun is shining, yesterday it was rain most of the day.
Such a lot of lovely places to stop on the way and loads of nice T caches too,, but travelling with s muggle I had to limit myself to Earthcaches only and close by trads.
Wasn’t sure which end you wanted so we took pics at both, great place, we both thought it looked great fun going through the cave but we were ill equipped and had to leave it.

This was the third day in New Zealand for me and micaparamedic near the end of an almost three month adventure. He arrived at my place in Washington State toward the end of July. From there we found some old caches in Oregon and then headed up north to The Yukon and Northwest Territories in Canada.
Attending the mega APE event in Washington was followed by camping in Oregon to see the total solar eclipse. After a few day trips close to home, we headed to Australia for almost a month doing many things on my bucket list such as walking around Uluru and seeing the Sydney Harbour. Now we're spending a few weeks in New Zealand before once again going our separate ways. What a trip!
Today we were heading to the west coast to see mountains, glaciers and other interesting geological formations. It was a bit overcast, yet we could still see the snow capped mountains as we went.
Thanks for the stop - so many plants and other things I'd never heard about before and I was able to see at least a few things that were new to me.
