###Cache Owner Action Needed###
This cache has been brought to my attention as likely to be missing.
After a string of successful Finds, it has now had a string of DNFs. I agree that this certainly suggests that something has happened at the cache location which requires investigation by the CO.
The cache will be disabled and I'll check back in 4 weeks to see if either
- the CO has checked or rectified the apparent problem
- the CO has communicated in a Note log here, when action will be taken
**If the CO has not taken either of these actions, then we can only assume that the cache has been abandoned and, regrettably, it will be archived.**
The Geocaching Community needs to have a degree of certainty that a cache is out there to be found, and the CO has a responsibility to maintain their caches.
Thank you

Dnf looked for quite a while . Even had intrigued muggles searching. Decided lifting too many tussocks wasn't going to end well. Ah well...next time.
No luck here unfortunately, even with the extra clue in the last log. Had to give up after 10-15 minutes as the group of muggles we were with were getting a little impatient
Hello crustydemons thank you for the cache
I parked the car at the car park at S43° 07.028' E147° 52.129' and continued to walk along the road to the start of the track.
It was a fantastic walk through the forest to the coast where the track follows the coast on the edge of the forest.
As we have had a bit of rain over the week the creeks were running quite well so took a bit of planning before crossing.
AT GZ I wasn't expecting to find the cache as there has been a couple of DNFs.
I had a bit of a look while trying to work out the hint without any luck so I widened my search before finding the cache.
This is the sort of cache I love to find so I have given a favorite.

Had a decent look for this cache when starting the Three Capes Hike. No luck for me this time.
Had an adventurous walk to Denmans Cove. Saw a couple of tiger snakes, one of which was not at all keen to move off the track in order that we could continue our walk. Took trackable "wonder woman" (DeUK13) with us as I thought she would like the adventure of walking the 3 Capes Track. Unfortunately couldn't find the cache after quite a while searching, so she is back in civilisation ready for a different adventure.
Took me long walked on trail and enjoyed day but offs ons rain with windy ... beautiful view..
good spot and log so very very soaked as can’t reach write log in.. bugger!!!!

We got dropped off here to start the Three Capes track. We first had to wait a while, as a group of students had their lunch close to the cache, and then it took a bit of searching as well. But we found it in the end. The logbook is soaked, and we were unable to write in it. I attach a photo of the last page of the logbook as evidence. TFTC!
About to head off on the three capes track. But if a search but the hints help. Log book is soaked, tried to write our name but we took a photo as well just in case.

Stopped by after getting off the boat on our 3 Capes walk. Coords seem to be astray by about 30m.
Luckily friends of ours on an earlier boat gave us a friendly hint, otherwise I think I'd still be looking.
Thanks

Another cache on our Tassie adventure. Coordinates were out by about 30m for us too but the hint and previous activity got us there. Thanks for cache!
So happy to see caches available on the 3 capes walk. GPS co-ordinates are out on this one though. The hint was essential to find this one. TFTC.
Walking the Three Capes track over Xmas. Enjoyed the boat ride to GZ and waited till all the muggles left before locating the geocache. TFTC

It was 5 years to the day since we visited this cache. It was a bit sad as my sons who originally hid this cache have now grown up and do not come camping with us anymore. Anyway weren't we in for a surprise how the area had changed! A once a densely bushed area had been cleared for the start of the 3 Capes Track. The track does a u bolt straight around where we had originally placed the cache. The cache had been moved. The last finder said that the pen wasn't working, so we replaced it with two new pretty pink pens, just twist the bottom! The cache is fairly exposed now so please place back and cover with surrounding vegetation.
TFTC Thank you for going to the effort of hiding this cache. You have shown us a new place and have helped make geocaching an enjoyable activity. Hint is good but coords are out look for stone wall.
Thanks to Tassie Trekkers for posting coordinates which were spot on. Was surprised to find it close to the new 3 capes track. It took a bit of effort to retrieve and Peter had to lift the small tree lying over it. It was a long walk to the cache, but that wasn’t why we came here.

Over recent years we have taken to staying overnight at Tasman Peninsula as it gives more time for walks and allows stopping for geocaches. On the drive down we went to the Tessellated pavement for the first time in very many years then via Premaydena to Port Arthur passing a number of caches on the route. We walked to Cape Raoul on the partly finished new track and to Denmans Cove, which just happens to have a cache too.

Visited by boat the previous day with little miss 4.5 but did not locate and ran out of time so ventured back the next day. Took a little looking but eventually Hubby found excaliburs sword and Poppy located the box for litttle miss 4.5 to open. Could not sign the book as the pen was not working. Great family trip thanks for the cache.
Decided to have another look for this cache as it was such a good day to be out in the kayak, Didn't take as long this time to cross over to the bay as the breeze was favourable and I had my sail on. After a thorough search of the tusock grass I was about to give it away but decided to have another quick look and suddenly spotted the corner of the container. The log book is quite dry but I was unable to sign as the pen wouldn't work but took a photo as proof I also removed the chocolate bar that was inside so as not to attract the wildlife.

No luck for us today - and excalibur sword is no longer attached - so may become an issue for later searchers.
Today we started our 4 day trek along the Three Capes Walking Trail. After landing ashore for the start of the hike, we celebrated with some lunch while indertaking a thorough search for the cache. Despite 4 of us give the area a good workover we had to come away empty handed.
Found with Imia, and a couple of Canadians we met on the boat and introduced to geocaching.
Cut my dammed thumb about 3mm deep on the cutting grass that they cache is hidden in, so be careful. Didn't stop bleeding for ages.
Nice spot.
Thanks for the cache

Found with seventhrombus. Had to hunt around a bit to find this one, but it was obvious once we were looking in the right spot. Log book was a little bit damp, but otherwise the cache was in good condition. TFTC!
After working here on the three capes walk for about 10 months i finally decided i should try find it on our last day here, was pretty easy to find if you know where to look burried under alot of thick grass though
2nd time lucky!
We decided to make the most of a nice day (before the weather packs up again tonight) and try again for this cache.
This time we explored a track coming out of Stinking Bay which looked like it might join on the Fortescue Rd. We did find it and it was a quick (but very muddy and very slippery) 4wd track into Stinking Bay which knocked a fair bit of time off the trip.
We also found the real track onto the beach at Denmans which was so much easier than the blue tag track which continued up the creek for a distance.
After finding the 'real' excalibur (not the fake one I thought I had found last time) it was only a short time till the cache was in hand. Our GPS is about 37m out at this spot!
Thanks crustydemons, enjoyed the walk (twice) and the challenge.

We had friends down for the weekend who were keen to go for a walk. I have been eying Denman's Cove cache fore a loooong time and thought the two could be combined, especially as it is winter. I wasn't keen to do a summer foray given Graham51's snake sightings!
We got away a little late and the state of the track meant that we took longer than expected to get to Denman's. The remainder of the party stayed put and ate their very late lunch while I went in search of the cache.
I found Excalibur (I think??), no fence, (the 3 Capes walk has commenced at the Denman's Cove end) and proceeded to look around. Not much to go on with the hint..... the place is overridden!!
After sustaining a few injuries, resorting to digging around with a stick, I was forced to abandon the search as we had to set off for home.
We only just got back as darkness fell... a bit scary.
We haven't crossed this off yet, just will allow more time next time!

I came to look for this two years ago and made a quick solo trip today. I left from the road near the fish farm and made quick time to Stinking Bay, which was living up to its name. After leaving Stinking Bay there was a large, black snake on the track so I had to wait for him to go. Then I slowed my pace a bit and watched the track extra carefully. I saw 3 more big snakes on my way to Denmans Cove. I think after a spell of cool days they were out basking in the warmth. When I got to the cove I had to go up the creek a bit to get across and then went straight to Excalibur. My mistake last time was concentrating my search exclusively on the fireplace but this time, with the new clue. I expanded a bit and soon located the container. The next problem was that a tree had fallen on it and wedged it against the ground (the second like this in two days) so I had to find a lever to take the weight off it. That done, and the container removed, I signed the log and returned it to a spot very close to where I took it from. On my way back I started to follow the blue markers which, I think, show the route of the new Three Capes Track but that became too difficult so I bashed back to0 the original route. I saw three of the snakes again and a brown one north of Stinking Bay, before getting back to the car. Thanks for the cache, Crusty Demons.
We finally got back to Denman's Bay by boat on a rather windy and cold day. The once beautiful little beach seems to have been washed away and replaced with boulders, there seems to have been alot of erosion of the shoreline in the past year. Anyway we thought from the DNF's comments that it may have gone as its not hidden particulary well and somewhat exposed to the elements and animals. Anyway we quickly located it exactly where we left it! A bit of dirt on it but all contents dry. Id just say to the DNF's you were probably looking too hard or maybe focusing on the wall too much. I'll put some extra hints in.
We had this cache on our list of ones to do but with the previous DNF's we were dubious about finding it. We thought we would help crustydemons out and place a replacement cache if we too could not find it. As we thought - no sign of original cache so we have replaced it with a small pill bottle. As hint was broad we will give you a hint to where we placed it which is in corner behind reddish brown rock. We took new coords which are as follows as the others were 30 metres out according to the original clue. S43 08.310 E147 53.707
We would recommend accessing this cache by boat as the track in is very overgrown and the terrain rating closer to a 3. There were lots of obstacles to traverse around and "prickly" bushes attacking us as we battled through. On our return trip we preferred to rock hop around the shore to Stinky Bay (low tide only option) Return trip 4.5 hours including breaks and lunch. The view of Port Arthur was excellent and the weather was calm. A memorable cache.

We drove to the co-ordinates supplied by Tas32 and set out on the rather scrubby walk with Maggie Dog. Arriving at Stinking Bay was a relief from the scratched ankles and gave us the opportunity to talk to some campers there. They directed us to the continuation of the track at the end of the rocks. After another 45 minutes we arrived at Denmans Cove and some more boating people. We crossed the creek and climbed onto the bank and despite the inaccurate co-ordinates we soon found the fence and Excalibur. A thorough search led to quite a bit of scrub clearing around the old firepot (I think that is what it was) but there was absolutely no sign of a cache. This was especially disappointing as this is the last current cache I have to find on Tasman Peninsula. I had been to Stinking Bay once before, in about 1969, but this was my first visit to Denmans Cove. We enjoyed the walk, especially Maggie, so thanks for getting us out there.

Paddled over by kayak, found the fence and iron sword OK but could not find the cache. co'ords were almost 30 meters out by my gps. There was a large passenger ship anchored in the bay today ferrying passengers to Port Arthur.
Thought I would walk into this one.Parking is at 43deg 07.027E 147deg52.134E which is on Andersons road. The walk took about 2.5hrs and was about 8.5kms.The gps coords at gz were about 15-20m of on my gps,so thanks for the clue it made it easy to find.TNLN Thanks Crusty Demons

Hi Crustydemons, Great adventure to get this cache. Both OldSaint and red tag got this one together and are claiming an FTF together. Thankyou!!! Red tag had the jet ski and we boarded, arrived and searched together, signing the cache at 1604hrs. For both of us, it was first time to Stinky Bay so thanks again. Got up to about 58-60mph on the way back. Then she wanted to take me for a joy ride and right in front of Annie we both came off!!! Wet, wet, wet!!! First swim in some time. Found out she can't swim (poetic licence taken) and had to drag her out!! Thanks red tag for the ride and the fun. See associated photos. TFTC and cheers OldSaint.
I couldn’t let this cache sit there ‘unfound’ any longer!
So this morning I messaged OldSaint to see if he and Annie were game enough to be my crew and luckily they were.
I hooked on the jetski and picked them up on the way past.
At the boat ramp the conditions were perfect for boating and OldSaint and I farewelled Annie and set off for Stinky Bay.
OldSaint had never been on a jetski before and was somewhat nervous and tried to convince me the cache was in the bay I was sailing past but I think the nerves were affecting his navigational skills.
We soon rounded the next headland and were in Stinky Bay. It’s a gorgeous place and not surprisingly there was another boat moored there but they were well out of our way.
We cut the engine and drifted into the pristine beach. I wasn’t content to leave the jetski on the beach so I attached the tow rope and walked it like a dog up the little canal. The water was soooo warm and inviting but we had a cache to find.... and find it we did.
Brilliant little spot crustydemons!. Happy sharing the FTF with OldSaint as it was a team effort!
The trip back to the boat ramp was way more fun as OldSaint had really got the hang of it and we were back with Annie in just a few minutes.
Once back at the boat ramp I had that mischievous side of me raise its ugly head (I struggle to be responsible for more than half an hour at a time) and I asked OldSaint did he want to have a quicker spin around the bay - my older sons have dunked me on numerous occasions so I figured I could do that to OldSaint, but the bugger took me with him and in the drink we BOTH went - fully clothed!. Annie laughed hysterically and we ended up tying the jetski to the jetty and spending the rest of the afternoon swimming in the bay.
Icecreams on the way home topped off a great afternoon.
Thanks crustydemons for the cache and thanks Rob and Annie for a great afternoon.
and just for the record I CAN SWIM!! just not as good as OldSaint ..but then I wasnt a Phys Ed teacher and I didnt realise you cant drown someone when they are wearing a life jacket
