As with others we were pretty sure or final co ords were correct. Searched around GZ to no avail. Only down for a caching weekend with this our only dnf. Sad

02-Aug-14
We were sure we had the right co ords. Interesting piece of history. Went to GZ but could not find it.

02-Aug-14
We are pretty sure we had the right cords. Very interesting reading all the plaques. Went to GZ but could not find anything.

We are sure we worked out co ord right but could not find

See DNF log.
Third in a row. Cache check might be prudent.

Interesting walk, fascinating history. Calculated GZ - came up empty despite thorough search. Hint consistent with calc.
Pretty certain it has gone.
Cache check required

Completed the puzzle easily enough. We didn't have enough time to look for the cache properly though, our ferry was just about to leave. We'll be back. Thanks for the walk though.

That started out as a really nice cache but turned out to be a really painful nightmare. Enjoyed the info and wished that this was taught in our schools. Had to google mosquito and then headed off to the new coords.

Sat down next to ....... At gz and something flew into my kneck and immediately took a bite and continued to bite my hand as I removed it. Squashed some kind of skinny yellow and black wasp. Managed to find cache quickly and got swarmed by these creatures.

Now these things are painful and over an hour later I am still struggling to control my emotions. My left hand that did the removing can barely bend and is very swollen.

It would be good if I had the same skill at getting into pants as these biters. They where straight and even knew how to climb in from the bottom of shirt. Yes one even found the plumbers crack.

I managed to get back to the path and down went the pants. Some Indian men laughed as there female colleagues flicked biters off with their shawls and then realised how much pain I was in and started helping. After a couple of minutes we decided they had all been removed. I thanked them. And they helped me to the ferry station where I stayed for half an hour debating if I should call an ambulance. But as the bites where only spots hurting and swelling I decided not too. Now about 80 minutes later everything apart from the multi bite sites like my hand kneck and hips seems alright.

A total of 43 bites are hurting.

No thanks after that experience which is sad because it would have been worth a favourite.

Very lovely and interesting location (although there's a terrible story to read about). All the signs where there, and the answers to the clues where all straightforward. However I just couldn't find the cache. It was about 1:30pm and there were people here and there, but I looked over, under, through there, from the other side, up and down ... I note that the last find was about 3 months ago, so maybe the cache is no longer there?

Thanks for the hide in any case Smile

Yebo, strolling with the public transport in Sydney I took the ferry until it's end station , where I have never been yet.
Amazing that in a today's million city one can pass through mangroves, I almost expected a croc ...

Whilst I walked the path and read all the signs to gather the numbers , it occurred to me that this is actually the first modern aboriginal art work I have seen, that combined tradition and contemporary history of the aboriginal people - thanks!

Hubby had a date with Annie at Riverside Theatres so I dropped him off and went for a walking tour of Parramatta's caches.
This one was no. 7 for the day.
After finishing Parramatta Shale Earth cache I came to this one. By this stage I'd been walking almost 3 hours In 34deg heat and was feeling tired and a tad lazy. I knew hubby must be almost done and the Theatres were in view. I didn't want to backtrack so I took a short cut. Found the cache from the clue (in fact I was looking too hard, came up for air and almost hit my head on it! Smile I then continued along the river and read all the boards so I could justify the find.
TFTC!

I needed to visit this area to grab and EarthCache and thought I would start this one too. As it turned out it was such a nice spot, the river, the artwork, the fountain, the playground- should I go on [?] that I decided to keep going after the first plaque. An interesting journey and all the information was gathered pretty much without a hitch. Then it was off to GZ and a pretty straightforward find. I even saw a RiverCat come to the end of the line and turn around. Must do a trip up here one day! An enjoyable cache- thanks!

14-Nov-13
Was on a walk with Blundo Buster Jnr whilst waiting for geo-daughter's end of year dance concert to start at Riverside. Got all the clues while enjoying the wonderful path. Plenty of joggers out and about.

Nice view from GZ in the end too.

12-Nov-13
I was in Parramatta today for some shopping and had time for a meander along the river before returning home. Thanks Spindoctors for showing be a bit of interesting history. I just had time to sign the log while the River Cat waited for me. Kawasaki TB visited. TNLN.

14-Oct-13
Found it with oska. And there it was. Tftc

14-Oct-13
Did all the questions today in the arvo and yes the mosquito one is missing, worked out the gz but too much people around.
Came back during the night with bukakke lord 888 and there it was!! TFTC also first bug find =)

Thank you Spindoctors for another great Parramatta cache. The kids loved the new play space halfway along the trail. We did the homework yesterday and the sums last night. Up early this morning to grab the cache before too many muggles arrive. We have a traditional owner cache at home and really appreciate you teaching us about the Burramattagal people. TFTC.

13-Sep-13
Needed a find for the night so I dragged Casper73 out for the evening as this one has been on my list for quite awhile to do, very nice walk and laughed when I saw where GZ was lol. TFTC

12-Sep-13
Now this is the type of cache I really like, a good walk and some history. I found all I needed, made some calculations and found the answer. Then I had to wait. Does everyone in Parramatta go past here at lunchtime? It sure felt like it.

Eventually I could look and made an easy find. Someone has added a pencil sharpener to the container and sharpened the pencil.

09-Sep-13
The pencil is broken. I will buy a sharpener and leave it in the geocache.

05-Sep-13
TFTC. Did the clues a few weeks ago and finished today. And to think I've passed it so many times

25-Aug-13
Found it after a compass misread. Great clues, loved the walk. Added some paper for a new log, but bring your own pen as the pencil is broken.

Tftc!!!!

02-Aug-13
Great cache! Enjoyed the stroll. Smile had Google one answer because a sign board is missing. Hope the council will replace it! Paper log is full, pencil is broken. TFTC! Was good to read about the Aboriginal heritage of the area and would never have done it without you placing this cache.

12-Jul-13
This is an excellent cache
The clues to the puzzle are very good and everyone who looks for this cache will learn a lot about Sydney's early history and the Buttamurragal tribe. The location beside the Parramatta River is very pleasant and we were almost sorry when we had answered the final question and could proceed to the cache.
It had become dislodged from its correct hiding spot and was in the garden - but still easy to find. We put it back where the hint implied it belonged.
We award this cache 5 stars!

12-Jul-13
A little tricky this proved to be! having a day out with the geomum today and decided to give a mystery cache a burl as I hadn't done one for a little while. All the waypoints were easily found except the one about the Mozzies. There was the blue poles and background to hold up the sign but it must have been stolen [:o] rude muggles Twisted anyway I had to fumble that number. I just had to try every option. Common sense rules out two numbers it could be, and if the hide is still keeping the theme of the cache, then well there were only about 2 or 3 options left. Well, thats not too hard! The first couple were a failure, then the last option seemed to match the clue and location and there it was. The cache just waiting for us in a slight deja vu spot. Thanks spindoctors for the excelent hide, but it mayneed a little tweaking due to the disapearence of one of the signs. TFTC!!!!

11-Jun-13
DNF found all the clues, great walk and
Very interesting boards along the river

11-May-13
Second Australian cache, really enjoyed learning the history of Parramatta and the surrounding area. Favourite point for me.

FYI, currently some of the informational boards are behind a netting barrier of some groundwork being done.

07-May-13
I gathered all the information together on Saturday after finishing the nearby earthcache but it was getting dark and I decided to do the calculations when I got home and pick up the cache next time I was in the area.

I bussed down to Parramatta this morning to take a stroll in Parramatta Park and extended this walk to include the calculated GZ. I plucked out the cache just before the sudden appearance of a large family group and retreated to a nearby bench to sign the log. When the coast was clear I replaced everything as found.

Thanks The Spindoctors, this was a most enjoyable and instructional exercise.

08-Mar-13
Dropped by to check that the geocache is still there. Yep! Still there.

21-Feb-13
Lovely meander along the river picking up the clues. By co-incidence I am currently reading "Fatal Shores". Tough times for all then. Hint matched the calculated co-ordinaries but sadly couldn't find the cache.

26-Dec-12
I was a bit devious last night and tried to get the answers for this on Google. I got a few, probably enough to deduce gz, but when I got to the meander, it looked so inviting I did the walk anyway. And what a fascinating walk through the (relatively) recent indigenous history of the area it was. I was soon at gz and made the find - but only after making things more difficult than they needed to be.

Thanks Spindoctors.

27-Oct-12
Dropped nephew off at a nearby cricket game and looked around for a cache that geodogs would enjoy. Found some nice free parking on a Saturday on Queens Ave grabbed the leads and took the geodogs on a nice stroll along the river. Enjoyed reading the history and found all the answers. Put in the coords and said a prayer of thanks to the CO and headed to GZ. Started doing the search the hard way, and after reading hint decided it would be safer doing from another direction. Found this much easier and quicker. SL #607 on streak day #114 TFTC

An excellent cache enjoyed by the whole family. Couldn't find the answer to Mosquito so we googled it while working out the maths at a bench table near Parramatta Tourist Info Centre and end of walk. Little unsure of answer so we had Coords of two spots. Tried the obvious first and whallah CIH. Eldest two are in high school so they enjoyed the information boards. SL Thanks for the cache.

21-Oct-12
I have been wanting to do this for some time. Finally got around to it today. TFTC.

18-Oct-12
Picked this up after dinner. Was dark already, but most boards had enough light. Used the light from the mobile where necessary.

Lots of people still about, and the walk was quite enjoyable. Calculations were straight forward.

Went off afterwards to enjoy the "Parramatta Lanes" setup, which was excellent.

Thanks for the cache!

02-Oct-12
Down from the Gold Coast for my brothers 60th birthday party and I have been grabbing some caches around the inner western suburbs.

I started out earlier today to try for a 5 or 6 different cache type day.

I have picked a Traditional one round the corner and this was my puzzle cache selection.

I was able to park close and pay my parking fee and off I headed.

It was a lovely day for a walk and gathering the information as I went was challenging but fun.

I ended up missing one of the pieces of information which was pivotal but I used my iPhone and Googled it instead.

The cache location was interesting but I was very lucky to put my hand straight on it.

Thanks Spindoctors for this walk of history and information TFTC SL TNLN

26-Aug-12
We found the answers many months ago after a trip via train and ferry from up north, but in our rush to the ferry forgot to actually visit GZ. Today gave us another chance, and with our target area temporarily deserted the GPS dropped us right on the cache. Thanks for a very good multi and hide, but especially for the reminder of just what the original owners of this land had to endure.

17-Aug-12
I had planned for this to be a nice stroll along the river educating myself about the original inhabitants of the area. But the wind was howling and the rain was spitting. Fortunately there are a number of places here to take shelter. At GZ there was virtually no-one so stealth was not required. TFTC Spindoctors

06-Jul-12
Back in place. Please let me know if external magnet disappears again.

21-Jun-12
Dropped by and collected cache to do some maintenance. Offline for a short period of time.

20-Jun-12
The magnet is no longer effective, so the cache is relying on a balancing act to keep it in place!

20-Jun-12
I collected the info for this on a rare sunny day a week or so ago, but at GZ there were several muggles exercising so I did not have a chance to swoop in for the hunt. I came back later on but there were still fitness nuts about. On this basis, decided to make the find after dark....surely no one is crazy enough to be exercising at night??? Apparently I was wrong, as there was a chap there tonight too. Luckily he only went a couple of rounds and then I was able to hunt in peace! TFTC and good history too.

20-Jun-12
The history lesson definitely gives food for thought. Couldn't find cache at first after reading clue - then read a previous log and realised it might be lower than it was meant to be. Replaced hopefully in the correct position but it would not attach as hoped. Came to rescue Black Widow - my last clue for Evil Nemesis #2 fifth find for the day. Took Black Widow left The Hulk

This was a really nice one. You learned a lot, it was a very nice walk and a goof hide. Thanks a lot for this one!!

#1200
To mark my 1200th cache, I came along and went for a walk, in the wet! It was drizzling so the best option I had was take photos and then do the sums in my car. I managed to get all the signs and then while sitting in the car spent another good 20mins reading this history. At first it was just to get the info I needed, but then I just kept reading as it really was interesting.

With GZ coords done, I drove over to GZ and then started my search. The hint helped as I narrowed down and spied the cache on the ground. A find, YAY. I was muddly and wet in the rain and with how I had to grab the cache, think the terrain could be higher. I SL, TNLN and replaced the same way. Then once I came home to log it, I realised the magnetic part to the cache. It was on the ground and I replaced it back on the ground (Sorry spindoc, didn't realise), but it's at GZ.

I great little history lesson, thanx for showing me this side of the river Spindoctors, I loved it. TFTC.

29-May-12
Very interesting history lesson.
Swapped TB. TFTC Spindoctors!

15-May-12
After solving the puzzle, made a relatively quick find! Tftc and history lesson!

Oh... left Hawkeye TB, took 2 GCs (thought it was only one until I got back to the car - oops!)

A surprisingly warm afternoon presented itself with the opportunity to finally to do this cache, which has been on our to-do list for a while. Thoroughly enjoyed the history lesson, most of which we already knew – but great to take some time and think about the events of Parramatta’s past, and the lives of the people that lived here long ago. How this riverside must have changed since colonial times!
Found the info, solved the puzzle and located the cache - all straightforward. Took a geocoin, but could not drop off the current geocoin that we have as it is far too large for this cache. Swapped it for a trinket instead. Thanks for a great afternoon meander Spindoctors.

Being in Australia for a business trip I used a sunny Saturday for a cache tour in Parramatta. Australia. cache #205

24-Mar-12
On my first walk along the trail I missed the question about Mosquito, so I left it and did some other caches in Parramatta. On the way back to the motel I found the last answer which took me straight to the cache. It's a shame that the trail doesn't look as good as your photo (I don't think it has been cleaned after a flood) Thanks Spindoctors.

24-Mar-12
A enjoyable and interesting walk. Thanks.

Thanks so much for bringing me here. It is great to learn about our past even if it is very sad. It helps make us appreciate the wonderful cultures we have in this country. It is such a shame that we could not have learnt more from the original inhabitants rather than just make war with them and try to make them change to white man thinking. Took me a while to find the cache but eventually did. Cache is all in good order. TFTC

28-Dec-11
A sad but interesting history lesson leading to and easy find this afternoon. Thanks Spindocs.

24-Dec-11
This one has been on my list for ages, at the edge of the current 12km radius I just had to get it! Also needed a find for the calendar.
Worked my way through the WPs, a few people heading to the ferry but pretty quiet on Xmas Eve morning. All pretty straightforward and I soon had a set of coords. Found without any major problems and waited for a break to replace it after signing. Log is slightly damp and could benefit from a drying out session, not likely today though!
Thanks for a bit of history we should be more aware of.

Christmas Eve caching in Parramatta - Very pleasant walk and informative too and a bit sobering. TNLN SL TFTC Cheers... Gaztek

Trackable was not in the container, it was very wet, but the log was fairly dry

18-Nov-11
What a great walk. I combined this with a similar GCA multi on the other side of the river and another GC multi closeby. As a result I had a very through history lesson about Parramatta. Had to be stealthy at GZ and waited for a quiet period before going in for the grab. Had CIH quickly and replaced without being detected by the passing pedestrain traffic.

Thanks Spindoctors for a very educational morning.

It was so nice to read up about the history of Parramatta and walk along the river and seeing all the people out and about. Got the required info and soon had the cache in hand. TFTC.

28-Sep-11
After taking a little stroll, reading all the signs and collecting all the required information I was ready to look for the cache. It was a cloudy day with a slight drizzle which meant this place was absolutely empty and I had no problem finding this one. TFTC

17-Sep-11
I had to do a spindoc cache while I was in the area and thought another multi sure, as it turns out started in the middle and had to do some back tracking to get more clues and then some more to get to GZ but nice to stroll up and down the river, even if it was warmer than we expected I think around 33C and coming from Canberra that is hot! glad I brought my shorts
thanks for the history lesson.
nabbed a pathtag hope thats ok! a fair trade for the GA cacher app Smile
cheers

13-Aug-11
Cache check confirmed that, some of the cache was there, but the container and contents were not. Offline for a few weeks. Sad

08-Aug-11
just logging today (august 20,2011) although Melelina and I looked for it on the 8th and could not find it. I just read that this cache is temporarily disabled and maybe that's why we didn't find it. Thanks for the history lesson and really interesting walk. Would never have known about this if it wasn't for the geocaching game.

08-Aug-11
We started the walk from the end and went backwards...which turned out good. We saw and read all the signs and really enjoyed the mural and the history. But we could not make the find. Our only "did not find" for two days of caching. We will have to write the owner to see where we went wrong. Too bad.

24-Jul-11
Luckily the river had gone down a bit for our walk along here today. Quite a few of the fish painted along the pathway had been enjoying a swim over the last few days!! What fabulous artwork and very interesting information plaques along the way. After this multi, we walked back along the southern side of the river doing the GCA cache. Thanks Spindoctors for a very interesting stroll

Found with blossom* This is a great walk and a very interesting cache. Thanks to The Spindoctors Smile

31-May-11
found this with akira13 tried looking for this cache twice before but to many people around so early morning find today tftc Smile

31-May-11
Lucky for me and angelo we got the info for the cache the other day...as it would of been a bit harder today (see pics). Tried twice to grab the cache but this place is muggle central during the day starting from early morning to afternoon.
Picked up the cache 6.30am when there where minimal people around especially due to the ferry cancelling services. In the end it wasn't as hard as we first thought and thanks for another history lesson seem to be learning a lot about the early days here with all these Parramatta caches.Cheers

28-May-11
Geomum in area for training. After walking the length of the walk two and a half times, there were muggles exercising at the cache site. Grrr. So this one will have to wait...

20-May-11
Went for an enjoyable ind interesting wander along the river, and got the info, and then headed to GZ. I did not find it on the forst hunt, and had to get to a job for a while, but after that I came back and easily found it in the only spot I did not check earlier. The forst word of the clue threw me, as it is not all tht relevant considering the actual spot the cache is hiding.
No Geocoin found, although one is listed, so was not game to leave another TB.
After this I decided to grab the WP info for nearby David, and realised I should have got that while at the end of the Meander.
TNLN, thanks.

18-Apr-11
Lovely walk, the clues were easy to decipher and had us learning more about the woeful treatment of the indigenous people by the early settlers. It added to the awful feeling I got after visiting the "Lost Generation" museum in Perth a few years ago.

A nice little stroll by the river but - there were fish jumping in the river (only mullet, I know), lots of fish on the path and many references on the signs - almost too much for a red tag to take ! Wink
The actual find was made in the early evening, when no muggles were about. Cool
Thanks for the cache, The Spindoctors ! Big Grin

An interesting walk at night. Quite a few people around.

Recently added some extra stick to the cache. Should be better now.

19-Jan-11
There wasn't anything magnetic about this cache, but it didn't stop us finding it. No sign of the trackable item either. There were lots of muggles wandering the length of this very pleasant walk this evening and one fellow geocacher who paused mid-jog long enough to smile and note what we were doing! Stealth was definitely required to retrieve the cache. TNLN TFTC Smile

Today my dad said I have to catch up on all the logs I have missed. I've missed about 130 because I like caching more than I like writing the logs. So sorry this is just a standard comment. Thanks for hiding your cache for me to enjoy.

07-Nov-10
As usual, geohubby did the calcualations and worked the mojo to find the location quite a while ago, so we came back today. He and eagle eyes, NickoHeap found the clue useful. A lovely walk. TFTC

07-Nov-10
Being the only boffin to record a DNF on this cache, so far, I really wanted to get back here. No council workers today, and no ladies skirts to look up, so I figured I might have a chance. This time I was with the family, so me and NickoHeap went looking for it. I looked in the hard places, but he just found it in the more obvious spot. Thanks for the cache. If I'd read the hint last time, I may not have made it as hard as I did.

After travelling back to Sydney this weekend for my brothers wedding, I noticed that there was a cache right behind the hotel we were staying in. What was even more suprising is that it was one that my brother had placed!!!! So after checking out of the hotel Sunday morning and before we had to head off to the airport to fly back to Melbourne I decided to have a relaxing walk along the parramatta river with my wife to work out the clues. After learning about some history of the area and working out the answers we headed off to GZ. A few muggles about so had to be quite stealthy but eventually had the cache in hand. Signed the log and replaced the cache. TNLN TFTC Spindoctors (big bro) Very Happy

Lovely wander along the path beside Parra river.Read the plaques and learned more about the first interactions between the first settlers and the aboriginals.
It must have been extremely difficult to break the cultural barriers and it is sad to read of the bloodshed.
