We probably should have had a look for this one last night when there were no people around. We read that the cache was placed with the owners permission so we felt okay about looking for it while the shop was open. The cache really could only have been in one place so it was an instant find and it is all in good condition. We then had a good look through the store and shared many memories from our childhood. Some of the items on display I still use in my kitchen. Other items we have given away and when we see the prices that were being asked we probably should have dropped them to the store and helped support the business. Thanks for placing this cache and thank you for the smiley
Was explaining Geocaching to one of our biking group. When I read out the hint, our tour guide Tim went fossicking around under the rock and came back with the cache.Good cache
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Today steffixx and me spent another wonderful day here in NZ while driving from Onekaka to Salisbury Falls. We stopped nearby and at first we had to take a look at this shop... So many things to see and explore... After that, we were able to find the cache, but we had to wait a little, untill we were able to put it back into its hiding place without attracting attention to anybody here... That took some time... Yippie - another found in New Zealand!! A big thank you to Red & White Gypsies for leading us here and showing this beautiful place and of course also for maintaining this cache here on site!Best wishes from the North Sea, Germany, from Cuxine . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . ________________oooooooo____________oooooooooooooo_________oooooooooooooooooo________oooooooooooooooooooo_______oooooooooooooooooooo____oooooo_______oooooooooooooooooooo___ooo__ooo_______oooooooooooooooooooo__oooo____oo________oooooooooooooooooooooooo_________oooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo_oooo_______oooooooooooooooooo________ooooo___ooooooooooooooooooooooo_________oo_ooo____oooooooooooooooooooooooooo_____oooooooo__ooo_oooooo__________oo___oooo_______ooo__ooo_ooo______oooo__ooo_______oooo___ooo__ooo___ooooo___ooo_____ooo___ooo____oo____ooo____oooooo__ooo____ooooooo____________ooo_____ooooo____ooo
Sad the shop was shut today as looked interesting through the window. Will definitely be back.
Found the cache and its log inside, all there. Sadly shop is closed for the winter.
Found what we think isthe cache, a small Sistema with trinkets but no log book in there. TFTC
What a fabulous place. We drove that far north to see it. We found the cache and dropped off a trackable, which will begin its journey right here.
We had a tasty cup of coffee and a close look to this unbelievable place. Seems to be somewhere parked in historic times Thanks to the owner showing it to us!
Found with Tregearp after a fossick around the local area. From memory when we had completed the Heaphy several years ago the shop was closed as we passed. Today we stopped and enjoyed the local hospitality with a drink and some carrot cake whilst completing formalities on the cache. The outer container has a couple of corner cracks but doesn't seem to have created any problems. Added a pill bottle for extra protection of the log and replaced as found. Thanks Red & White Gypsies & Junior Knight for the cache - and motivation to stop and spend 30 minutes perusing some of the local history.
A quick find with SJT_NZ and we stopped on at the store for a cuppa and very nice carrot cake. Provided a little more protection for the cache.
I regretted arriving after closing as it seems a very cool place to visit! TFTC!!
There was a group sitting on the verandah having refreshments on my way past earlier so I kept on going. The shop was closed on the way back making for an easy find. This really is an iconic place. TFTC # 17,113
Shop closed, bit Mum had fun window shopping. Dad gave Z11 a hand for this find. Paper dry in floating plastic bag despite cache half fill of water!

It was a good place to stop and get a hot coffee after exiting the Heaphy wet and bedraggled today.
5 days walking and rain every day but still a beautiful area to tramp with more fresh water than you could poke a stick at...
We then found this one nice and dry after trying to ensure all the muggles were out of sight.
Thanks for bringing us here for a great coffee and cache!

After returning from the Heaphy Track, 8ManAfter and I stopped here to enjoy a fabulous flat white and find this geocache. TFTC
With a few days off work coinciding with a small window of fine weather we decided to take the caravan away for a few days to see if we needed to do anything before the Christmas break. Headed over the hill to Collingwood and found a nice, but windy, place to stay. Once we were set up we headed out for a drive and decided to take the journey up to the start of the Heaphy Track.
Wouldn't you know it, we visited on the one day of the week the store is closed. Never mind as it meant we had the place to ourselves to find, sign and return the cache. As it seems to get a few visits and will probably get more over the summer we left behind a trackable. tftc

The Langford Store is truly one of my favourite places. So stoked to find out there’s a cache here. TFTC!
P.S. the scones are amazing

.Had to stop off at Bainhams. This place is very busy. Lots of interesting things to check out. Quickly snagged this one while no muggles watching. Replace wet log with a tepm RITR log to keep this one rolling along. Cheers. Great time for an ice cream stop while checking out the post office and other stuff. Recognised lots of things from my mothers house.
Its Saturday and we are off exploring around Collingwood and up towards the Heaphy.
Its a long weekend to Takaka, with Collingwood and Farewell Spit in the mix, with Zara Toby and Bullertroutss Bro. So lets go exploring. Visited lots of awesome places. But never enough time. I will be back.

A slight detour on the way to Pakawau to check the old store out.
Nice easy find

Thankfully we didn’t arouse suspicions with the torches flashing, but this one did take some time to find.
Checked some rocks, but not THE rock, so it was found on a revisit. TFTC
Looks like a nice place. Hope to come back in the future in the daylight.
Day 1 of 3 day trip for Capperz and I with the overall goal of dropping off some keen bikers at the Heaphy track start near Collingwood and not failing to pick them up late on Sunday morning at the finish north of Karamea.
We had one job then, and happy to say we did it.
On the way, of course, we found some caches.......
We got a later start than planned from Blenheim due to ferry delays for some of the troops, the net result being the drop off at the track start was in the dark.
Capperz and I had accomodation booked in Takaka for the first night, so we attempted a few PnGs in the dark on the way there. But we had to book into our lodgings, so we only managed a handful.

We'd heard about the location of this quirky museum/shop as we headed along the road earlier this evening and caught a glimpse as we flashed past in the van. On the way back we stopped to seek the cache and despite me having my hand on the camo item once it was different in the dark and we widened the search before ric.nz returned 'there' and made the find. All good and replaced as found. An interesting and eclectic set of things here, liked the mosaic couch out the back. T F T C R&W G & J K
This weekend I've offered up my services as a getaway driver. Nothing as dramatic as a criminal bank robbers assistant, more a chance for a group of work colleagues and associates to get away to do the Heaphy Track on their bikes. Ably assisted by ricardinho.nz as a co-pilot and driver of the geocache seeking devices utilising the route which I'd done a full and comprehensive list of before departing. The plan was fairly simple; early finish Friday arvo and take them over from Woodbourne to the Collingwood/Brown's Hut end of the Heaphy and collect them from Kohaihai bridge end late on Sunday morning. A late start on Friday to get underway as a result of a delayed ferry arrival had us around 30-40 minutes late getting on the road and some fluffing in Motueka for dinner added enough minutes on to mean that we got to the track end on dark, and never got to the digs in Motueka until around 8.45 PM. There was still some time for a bit of 'in the dark' caching where I got 3 finds before hitting the sack, after a couple of refreshments, and a conversation with an aggressive illustrator from Wellington.
Day 1 was always going to be more about the driving than the caching, but still nice to get a few more finds along the Tasman region back roads.

Out looking around the area over the last two days. Called in twice for scones, jam, cream and tea. A really interesting place and great cache location. Came back this morning to find the cache and sign the log as our first for the new year. A favourite from us. Thanks Red & White Gypsies & Junior Knight.
After a swim in a nearby wonderful swimming hole....we stopped here for an ice cream.

Found with Pog after swim and stone skimming with Reuben, M& S at Sullivan’s swimming hole. TFTC
Great store. And lots of "mum used to have this" and "gran used to have that". Easy locate even with coffee drinkers nearby. added a new log inside a new bag as getting grotty. TFTC
Stopped here for a cake and look around then carried on to the Falls on the recommendation of the store owner. It wasn't until we were on our way that we realised we didn't even look for this cache so had to stop again on the way home for a quick find just as he was shutting up shop for the day. Log very wet. tftc
Through sheer good timing, I arrived at the GZ just in time for morning tea, so it seemed appropriate to stop for a coffee and a cake while I planned by next set of caches.
Coffee drunk and cake eaten, I got chatting to a man who had just pulled up who had (apparently) needed to help tow a minibus of cyclists out of a stream a few km up the road; he too felt like a coffee it seemed.
So, while he was inside ordering his, I guessed I'd better get looking for the cache.
My blinkin' spare phone had me looking in the wrong place again, but before long I ended up looking far closer to where I'd started (not for the first, or last, time today).
Took the TB that'd been here for a few months.
Worth a FP for the whole occasion as well as the location.

Was shut when I found the cache. In the area and so hope to pop in over next few days. Left TB. Tftc
On my last full day in Collingwood I decided to venture out towards the Heaphy Track signing off the caches out that way.
I was here before the shop opened and read one of the opening hours notices. I have included it here for you to read and smile.
Cheers for the cache.

This was our 1000 th cache so a significant day for us and a great spot to find and sign it . Will give it a favourite because of that.TFTC.
Found with badjelly on trip to top of south. Great old store with lots to look at.
The Bainham Store is a step back in time, even an old radio was for sale at $120.00 funny how old is so expensive when new that model sold for$36.00!
Anyway nice old store, and thanks for the cache.

Closed again today but we had a good look through the windows and round the back. Found the cache waiting for us. TFTC.
What a nice store had been here many times and had always
forgotten to put this on my GPS nice cache.

There were too many cars here when we first came past so continued on to the start of the Heaphy Track then stopped here on the way back. After signing the log we had a look about before buying ice creams and then heading off again.
Thank you Red & White Gypsies.
Thank you Red & White Gypsies.
We had to leave this cache until we returned from the start of the Heaphy. The muggle factor at the time made us wonder if we could make a find at all but we did. We had an ice cream and looked around a bit admiring the bottle collection, the organised chaos in the Post Office and the library. Thank you Red & White Gypsies
Stop here every time I pass by. Never realised there was a cache here. Bagged it today on our way to Salisbury Falls and beyond. Tftc
Great place to visit. Enjoyed a coffee sitting on the brightly painted chairs. Yes, log book is still completely soggy - used an alternative log provided by earlier cacher. TFTC
Soggy book. Fun for kids to find though!!! Coffee is great make sure you try it!!
#10286. The store is very interesting; well worth a cache. We made a quick find, and then headed in to by some (modern) ice creams. TFTC.
Was keen to see this shop as I had watched an item on TV about it a few years back. We were happy to see the open sign out the front, so after finding the cache we popped inside for a look and to buy an ice cream each. It was smaller inside than anticipated, but interesting to have a nosey. At the moment the shop is open 6 days a week from 9 to 5pm but will be open 7 days a week over summer.
Enjoyed looking at the old signs outside while scoffing our ice creams. Thanks for the informative cache page write up and TFTC.
BTW, grabbed a TB which has been stuck in the cache since Feb, will take it to the North Island with us next month.

Find #2432 while on a 5 day tour of the Tasman area. I was hoping the store might be open but I was sorely disappointed - probably should have phoned first but I wanted to see it anyway. SL TFTC
A quick easy find, after being greeted by the owner, who immediately knew what we were up to. TFTC
Nice spot for coffee and a scone...also got some local honey and plum jam. Easy find...dropped off TB. Tftc
Holidaying with tmann421 in the North of the South Island. Many thanks to all the Co's for making this such a memorable trip.

Nice easy find. Stunning day, flat white, scone, followed by a swim in the river.
Unfortunately the store was closed when we visited but very interesting nonetheless. Cache was a nice easy find but the container and log book bag was full of water and the log book too wet to sign. I emptied out the water but couldn't do much to dry the log. Thanks for bringing us here, TFTC!
Initially I was looking in the wrong place, which was about as successful as you would have expected. But in between other visitors to the shop and actually looking in the right place I was able to find and sign. TFTC (1380)

As we pulled up it started to rain so we got a coffee instead, by the time we'd finished the coffees it had stopped again so nice dry find. I've heard so much about the post office and store but first time I've been out here TFTC

Container replaced with one that should be more waterproof and position changed slightly to hopefully avoid the worst of the water when it rains heavily. See amended hint.
A cool place for a cache but unfortunately the container is not waterproof. There was quite a bit of water in the container and the logbook is very damp and starting to go mouldy. Sorry
Have been here several times but always at weekends so the shop wasn't open. Discovered that it now opens 7 days anyway. And it's now as much an antique / gallery / teashop place as a general store. Fantastic seeing history being looked after like this. TFTC
Great spot to place a cache, this was our destination where we stopped for a lazy coffee while enjoying the location, history and setting. Cache quite damp but managed to scratch our name on the log. TFTC, #6172
Found on a day's exploration around the region, letting the geocaches lead me to all the interesting places. I love these old general stores, there's not all that many of them left in NZ now. The cache was a quick find, there were people close by but they were fortunately hidden from me. Signed log, TFTC
Disappointed that the store was closed but great place anyway. We liked the mosaic couch round the back. Cache quite wet so dried it as best we could but the logbook is a bit damp.
Another easy find during our enjoyable day out in beautiful Bainham .. The store is currently closed for winter, but I already know just how good Sukhita's home-made cakes are (esp. carrot), so you can be sure we'll be back come spring for a slice and a pot 'o tea
Thanks for the hide Red & White!

What a surprise to find a store in much the same state, and with old products still on the shelves and still open all hours. Bainham store is well worth a visit. Hard case. Log book soaked. Replaced bag,
Quick find on way up to the Heaphy Track.Sorry did,nt have time for a cup of tea this morning. TFTC.
This was number three we found
on today`s traveling round.
When we arrived the land was wet,
and in the box a travel bug was set.

Coffees and cake and postcards and a lot of nostalgia - and a chat with Sukhita whose great-grandfather started this wonderful old-world store.
Took racing car, left Aussie snake and butterfly. TFTC
Note to fellow cachers: do the right thing - don't just fill the log and move on - buy something and support the continuation of this great little place.

A holiday in Golden Bay isn't complete without a visit to Langford Store. Real shame the historic swing bridge nearby is gone, but loved adding a cache find to the annual visit. Tftc
Found this not often visited cache together with a local kiwi on a tour round Golden Bay. Nice spot worthwhile a visit a good coffee and to post a postcard with a rare stamp. TFTC, Winfriend from Norway.
Shame the shop was closed as I would have liked to have had a look around but not to be this time - so Stretch0 and I continued on up the road as I havent been out this way before - signed log thanks for the cache
Arrived on site to find muggles doing some window shopping so we joined them peering in the windows (premise closed) and as soon as they departed we had the cache in hand. Like to come back and have another look in the future. TFTC
We had hoped to stop for coffee and cake but the store was closed so had to content ourselves with cache and photos. Thanks. Had to pour water out of the cache but log was fine.
