Popped out to gather the info while waiting for my FergBurger, so a proper touristy Queenstown experience! TFTC
Visited this site with KinWLG and GCSB. This is a very interesting sculpture and provides and great insight to the history in the ground. Thanks for bring us to this site.
TFTC from the Ozzie Kayakviking.
It had been 20 years since I visited this lovely city and I cannot wait to get back again some time soon. If not for the cache I would have wandered past this lovely sculpture and slide of history. Answers sent to CO.
Cheers KV

That was informative. Glad I'm not here during one of those floods! Have sent my answers through. Thanks!
Merlot has sent and received permission to log this earth cache. We had limited time in Queenstown and managed to squeeze an evening visit in. Thanks for creating this!
We only had one night in Queenstown and after dinner we decided to get a couple of caches including this one. I had no idea Queenstown had flooded twice, wow the water level was high too! Logging with CO permission, thanks for the experience.
*Another good Earthcache.
Nice day going from cache to cache with woolwood9.*

I write "WRITE NOTE" because it is a time when we can't go on a long adventure, so I travel in the memories of my visits to New Zeusemad. Of this adventure in New Zealand, I only stretch Travel Bug. Writing "FOUND IT" is probably not right anymore, it wasn't today, but I was here before. And unfortunately I won't get here again.

Answers sent to CO. Interesting to read some Queenstown history trivia. Would have never stopped if not for the cache and it was definitely worth it TFTC!
Finally managed to send the answers after our South Island camping trip in December and January.
Typical sculpture that I would have walked past without paying any further attention. It intersting though to read about the meaning and that each part of the sculpture has it's meaning and is representing something. Thanks for making me have a closer look.

We've been visiting Clyde for work, on the way home to Motueka we sat by the lake for lunch with some time to kill before the flight.
I remember being here just before the latest flood so the news photos at the time gave understanding of how high it was.
Thanks for all the info and TFTC!

Answers sent to CO. One of the team was visiting here while on a belated honeymoon and had some time to do a few caches. He found this one fascinating and well worth the educational visit. Many thanks for this earthcache placement.
I'm from Whangarei and I'm on holiday in the South Island for 2 weeks with my mum and two of my kids. We flew to Queenstown, visited Milford Sound, Te Anau then returned to Queenstown. Later we're going to Wanaka, Mt Cook, Fox Glacier, Greymouth, and taking the Tranzalpine train to Christchurch. We'll spend a day there then catch the scenic train to Picton, and go across on the Interislander ferry. Then we'll have a day in Wellington visiting Te Papa then fly home.
I'm collecting as many caches this holiday as the family can bear so the focus is on special types - earthcaches, labs, letterboxes, virtuals, solved puzzles with the odd multi and trad thrown in.
I took a photo this evening in the rain after dinner but my phone (GPS) doesn't like water. Came back past here the next day so took another photo which I didn't need in the end. Oh well, better safe than sorry. I enjoyed our visit to Queenstown. I didn't like the stats on another flood. Thanks for your earthcache

Daytrip out to this busy city. After breakfast took a wander to this cache and sent in some answers. Tftc!
Info with Karma Reprint. A warm windy after dinner stroll. So good to see this place buzzing. I also liked the town in the days of the old pie cart when we would stop on our way thru for Southland Tramping club trips last century. We had a core sample from the Clyde dam works when we lived in Alex but it got left behind in the move to Chch. We were in Alex for the 1995 flood and well remember the sight of the high diving board at the swimming pool, being underwater. Tftc
A nice quick find thanks. A cool representation of the amount of water!
Ms_KR and I decided to have an extended Show Weekend break, and today we headed for Queenstown. A lovely day and plenty of little distractions was had by all!
Thanks to all CO's for publishing and maintaining their caches. Cheers.

Thank you so much, found this earthcache while waiting for our cruise. Love the History stories and the bands that indicated the water levels.
An interesting Earthcache. I remember hearing about the floods - when at least one of them happened I was living nearby (not in Queenstown but less than a couple of hours away).
It's been several decades since I've actually stayed in Queenstown. I think this whole area is new since then. Totally different at least. I did the research in the early evening before grabbing some dinner. Thanks for the Earthcache! (I have attached a photo but I think it's the worst photo I've ever taken!)

Had some time to spare in Queenstown before heading further south. It has been a few years since I was here but I remember the latest flood. Has some American students staying with me and went to QT for a weekend away from Christchurch before heading home. They got flooded out! Crazy selfie on a cold day.
Had some great days in Queenstown and did of course also this central Earthcache!
And took the photo from nearby with a view over the lake.
Thanks for the cache!

Out in Queenstown on our first day of a South Island trip, it was a very raining day so grab a few pictures and read the info. Very interesting to see where the flood levels rose to, hopefully they don't have to add more bands to this monument. Answers sent to the CO, TFTC.
After spending a few days here before the weekend started we left town on Saturday evening to go to the milford sound, we ruturned on Monday for our bungy jump and afterwards came to town to enjoy a last look around before moving on. Hadn't noticed the core until I thought of checking the caches about. Tftc with isistibisi
Last day of the month, financial year and I guess last day of geocaching under Covid-19 lock-down.
Answers sent to CO, but gathered last year shortly after Wakatipu's biggest flood event this millennium. November 2019 the rain came down constantly for three days raising the lake level to just 20mm below the previous record. I was living and working in Makarora at the time and many roads were closed due to flooding and landslides, as well as the CBDs of Wanaka and Queenstown. Eventually after some weeks the lake levels dropped sufficiently to reopen everything.
This was a very pertinent Earthcache. There's a similarly themed artwork in Wanaka. Thanks for placing it.

Was a great day outside and although were in lockdown I had to get outside alone and go for a walk and get some exercise. This was a fun earthcache and I’ve walked past here so many times and not paid attention to the sculpture to even not the water trickling down it. Thanks for the cache!
While waiting for the bus to Milford Sounds in the early morning I took a short walk. Managed to log this in the sparse light of some lamps on the bridge.
Thanks for the cache! Worth a FP.

Leaving Sweden in the beginning of January, passing Singapore on the way to Australia. Then visiting NZ before flying back home via Dubai. A trip of almost three months. Fantastic scenery and nice people along the way.

Zowaar! After touring southern South Island with car and campervan, it is time to return to QT in preparation of our Grand Traverse hike, starting tomorrow. A beautiful sunny afternoon, and some time left for caching. It was relatively calm with tourists, less than 2 weeks ago when we first were here. Thx for this EC, and placing and maintaining it! We passed by Queenstown during our 3 weeks holidays in NZ. This was a nice spot and thanks to the earthcache we could understand the meaning of what it looked like "just" a nice fountain

Thankfully when we couldn't get the other actual cache on the piers because the water was too high, at least there was this earthcache! I had already taken pics of it too bc i liked the way it looked, and now realised there's something to learn about
Took a walk down to the harbor this morning before our tour left to get the answers for the cache. It is Saturday, February 29 and a craft sale was in the area. I managed to get to the plaque behind a jewelry craftsman. The lake is a beautiful sight early in the morning. Hard to believe it could rise to this level. Will send answers to co when I get back to WiFi.

Travelling and caching through Roxburgh and Alexandra today on our way to Queenstown. We managed to find a parking spot not too far away and made our way to this interesting sculpture. It is quite breezy this afternoon and large waves are breaking on the edge of the wharf. We could see that it would not need too much increase in lake level to become at least a minor problem. Gathered the required information and took some photos. Thanks for an informative earthcache.

Went to Queenstown today and did this interesting Earthcache. I have sent my answers to the CO. Earthcaches brings us to places that so many muggles just walk past and are not even aware of. Thank-you for bringing me to this point, I found the information very interesting.
Gorby contacted me on Monday asking if I wanted to join him and Rebel98 on a trip to Queenstown for a long weekend. As I already had a week off in between jobs I was free to join them. We travelled from Queenstown to Te Anau, up the Milford Rd as far as we could, over to Cromwell before returning to Queenstown. Many adventures were had and many wonderful gems discovered.
We had just checked into our accommodation and were picking up a few supplies in the town centre. Gorby mentioned this earthcache and said I had time to walk down and complete it. It was quite busy around the waterfront around 10pm but I managed to find all the information.

On a touring holiday around NZ, from England. Without our GPS and no phone data, we were able to use our hotel wifi to get an idea of the location of this cache before we went for a steam boat trip. A beautiful place.
Found with MrsC on our NZ travels from the UK. A very apt earthcache as it as been raining for the past 3 days and the lake has risen well over 1m in height and is just below the shore level. Answers submitted by MrsC
Found with mr c on our travels from the UK thank you. With all the rain this was rather topical and we could see a distinct rise in the lake in the last 24 hours
During our walk through downtown and the harbour I found the needed information and mailed it to the owner.
