Since this one is pretty close to home and since I made the find nearly a year ago to the day, I thought I'd come past here to check out the situation and report back what I found.
To begin, this place has suffered a lot of damage. Storm damage, high waters, 4x4 damage, and vandalism in the parking area. The walking track has been closed because the foot bridge over the creek has been completely washed away.
The cache container used to be round and I had thought perhaps somebody didn't put it back properly and it rolled down the hill, but that's not the case. There has been somewhat of a mud slide at GZ but it's still very passable. In fact, it appears that people have been using the path caused by the slide as an alternate to the stairs. This would have exposed the cache to anybody passing by, so it's my guess this has been muggled rather than washed away.
In case the cache was missing - and it was - I came prepared with a rodent-proof replacement which I have left at the posted coordinates.
Should anybody wish to find this cache, I highly recommend avoiding the creek and the washed out bridge. Instead, you should approach GZ via Morris Road (off Kell's Creek Road) rather than using the Box Vale parking area.

this one hasnt been found since October last year with numerous DNF's and no response from CO

1st caching in ages & couldn't find it Geokids crawled all over the place & into all the little crevices with no luck bar the toy soldier.
Wowzers. So many places it could be. Eluded us today. We did manage to find a baby brown on the trail on the way in!
Spent about an hour here crawling into some very interesting spots but all we found was a toy soldier
We took a while to find the cache. There were several likely spots that we inspected, even crawling into one. Eventually, I walked around to look in at a different angle, and there it was. TFTC
A beautiful day for a bush walk and I think a lot of people had the same idea judging from the cars in the carpark.
The tin container is a bit battered but is holding up well so far, obviously better than the plastic ones.

Went for a walk along the Box Vale tramway which I hadn't been on over ten years. This was quite early in the walk and was in an interesting spot near the dam. Lots of hiding spots but the old container revealed itself when in the right spot. Signed and replaced.
Thanks!
Thanks!
Parked at the wrong hate, and tried to cross at the dam. Thinking the name of the cache is actually Tricky Rocks. Once I crossed the creek, I headed in the straight and must of walked straight past it to search the wrong spaces. 20mins later, resurfaced and moved around the corner, oh, there you are.
If only I looked there first, the story of my caching career, thanks Dead_Reckoning

Found a toy soldier and a great spot to hide the cache but not the actual thing. Must have been so close
Nice little spot. Make sure you walk around to explore the weir while you're here! The Boxvale Track is a great walk for all ages, too. TFTC!

In the southern highlands for a weekend break and while I had some spare moments managed a few caches here and there.
Walking the Box Vale track and didn't initially expect to find this on the track so a bonus for the morning.
nice location thanks

Located the cache after a short search. The coordinates are good and although the cache container is a bit battered the contents are fine. The cache location is worthy of more visits.

I'm not sure we took the easiest route to find this cache. Walking across the slippy rocks just below the slipway and only finding the pathway just a few meters before getting to GZ was not the safest way for a couple of pensioners !
A brief search at GZ turned up lots of potential places but no cache. We will return.

The cache was tampered with and it's contents spread, I put it back together, added a pen and lots of treasure and re hid the cache where I think it belonged.. Thanks
A pleasant walk was enjoyed by TaurusSix with myself. Found easily enough. We are thinking of coming back this way to walk more of the path one day.
TFTC. Awesome spot. Geo son loved the walk and the find. Thanks for bringing us here

When approaching the GZ, it might be handy in this heat to pick up a stick and bang it against some trees etc, to scare off any snakes. We saw a red belly slithering away as we got close.
A very interesting GZ, fun to explore!

Found on our way back from the look out. Lovely trail along the old railway line, alive with birdsong at this time of year. Approached GZ with fear and trepidation as befitting a European down here; not to worry though, my size 47s and lots of bashing with a stick shifted all the deadly reptiles waiting to pounce on me!
In Scotland we'd call GZ a Howff; great location.

It's been about 7 years since I last found a cache, this time had my kids with me and they thought it was great hopping over rocks and finding the "treasure". Found it using the iPhone app. Thanks
I had found this one previously but c:geo was being annoying and not showing it on the map, so I ducked down here on the way to Box Vale Descent to see if it had been muggled or anything.. but it was just where I remembered. Whoops, should have let the newbies look for it instead.
Nice find by National Steel at the outset of our trip to find Box Vale Descent. Colourful cache. TFTC
What a beautiful day, thought I would come out for a fish and with no luck headed for the cache. Success. Thankyou, it is picture perfect with the water reflecting the clouds and the surrounding rocks beautifully.
Illawarra Feb 2012. On the map this one looked simple, only a couple of hundred meters from the road. Of course it was not that simple, until we found the track. It was good to see the area and the cache seems to be holding up to the conditions. Thanks.

TFTC. Found as we made our way along to the tunnel which was of great excitement for firstfox given his interest in trains.
Nice quick find on the way through Mittagong & a good excuse to stretch the legs.

We have really enjoyed touring around this area, beautiful gardens, homes and parklands and some cute towns as well. We had a few caches on our list for the day and this was one we were able to find after a short search. Nice walk to gz.
Nice work with the cache thanks to dead_reckoning.

Found with ticktock19 after a bit of confusion. The hint helps. Cute little track. Will come back another day to do the full walk.
Heading to Port Stephens today and need a break from driving, and a geocache is the perfect excuse. Didn't know what to expect from this location lots of scub and dense bushland. We were delighted when we broke through and saw the small crek and waterfall.
Took it carefully as this looks like perfect tiger snake country, additionaly cautious as the sun was out.
Soon found the cache at GZ and heading back to the car.
Thanks DR for bringing us to a place we woudlnt have gone without caching.

Well I shouldn't be surprised that a cache took me to a wonderful location that I have driven by many times without knowing it was here. What a fantastic walk although wackydo and I made hard going of it by missing the track and the bridge completely!! So the terrain was a 5 for us!! We also took the long route back but enjoyed the walk and the cache immensely. TFTC dead reckoning.
Found with eaviate after a 2 night stay in beautiful Berrima. We did this the hard way, pulling up off the road and bush bashing the whole way. Even when we finally came to the path, "oh there is a path!" eaviate had to tie his shoelaces, gave me the gps and said "it's up there" and I scrambled up rather than following the path. It helps if you read the description! Had a great time though. Thanks dead_reckoning for placing the cache.
Quick find. Container is rusted so it took some time to get the lid off. TFTC
nice bush walk then a lil bush bash. Had to use our muscles as the cache was rusted shut. Dropped TB

Well - we should have read the description a little better before pulling off where we did and approaching the cache from the wrong side.
Had a walk through some bush and found a magnificent wombat burrow with numerous entry holes. On reaching the rocks and water overflow, Mr FM decided to go alone, while I stayed on the dry side of the overflow. On emptying his pockets so that he wouldn't drop anythng, FM dropped his mobile straight into the creek. Phone was retrieved and will now need replacing. However Mr FM continued on and made the cache find - and the walking track that we should have approached from.
Mrs FM sat on rock and dried out the phone. On leaving we went past the wombat burrow on the opposite side and were rewarded with a fleeting glance of a wombat disappearing into its burrow. For the wombat sighting and a bit of fun in this bush, this cache gets a favourite point.

Excellent area! Would love to explore it further, surprised this is the only cache in here.
Container a little dinged about however still doing what a container does best (contain a cache)
Thanks dead reckoning for the cache. Great spot.

Found with the assistance of Pipes-Down-Under, The container is a little battered but still OK. TFTF
Took the more direct route, nuded up to swim across. It was the after surprising some walkers I saw the walking track.
Cheers

I was surprised at the ease of access to this one. The Bridge has been cleared of the flood debris but it's still twisted.
The cache was a quick find but the lid took some getting off.
Being dark there wasn't much scenery to look at so it was straight back to the car park for a short 13 minute car-cache-car time.

Found by Mary & David at 1327. Must have been an enormous tirrent of water over the little footbridge as you can see the twisted beams and high flood debris. The earth has been scoured from many of the steps too. Enjoyed the walk, the rocks and a few wildflowers. Dropped off "KMM372F213BK-6U" TB. Our thanks to dead_reckoning.
A quick easy find. An amazing amount of debris up against the bridge from the recent floods. TFTC
Its many years since I've been down this track! Nice walk through the bush and over the broken bridge to get this one. Still lots of water in the creek. Cache found OK - took a while to get the lid off, but all OK after that. Thanks
Found on a nice day caching with Pacmania. A great walk, but almost got collected by a lizard running down a rock on the way back! Thanks
Parked where indicated and walked to GZ where a quick find was made - cool container! The nearby bridge has suffered in the recent floods, see attached photos. Lovely spot though, TFTC!
Had the place to myself today. Made the enjoyable walk to the rocks, then made a little scramble. SLTN TFTC Cache container is a bit dented up.
Found with JNRNsiYeti and Geosamurai111 and Pbbear on the way back from inspecting scout hike. TFTC
Stopped off and parked close to dam wall, foregoing the easy path. Many likely hidey holes and container was soon in hand. Thanks for the rock clamber!
Still out caching with a mate, another nice spot along the river and small climb over some rocks. Cache container is a little damaged but dry TFTC
Took the short route in. Parked at the closest coords. Finally found it and found a nice easy path 10 metres away. Decided to take the path out (easy way) then after arriving at the "parking area" found we had a 600Mt walk back to the geomobile. Hey, needed the walk anyway. There was a young boy fishing. TFTC.
#276 found @ 1610 on caching day 58. The score for today was 36 found its and 3 Did not find. Over a speedometer distance just shy of 1100 klm's from home base so all in all a good day with some highlights and lowlights.
This was 20/36 this is yet another of those spots in the southern highlands that is mostly forgotten and may even be ignored if it was not for the few walkers who just enjoy the bush. I approached this from a slightly different direction and had it all the same the weir is still there and the location was a nice reminder of what use to be home even though it was only for a short period. Yet again a great spot in the area that I once called home.
Thanks dead reckoning for bring me to the beautiful spot.

Walking back to the muggles car we went straight past this one. So we stopped to grab a quick find tftc
Found on a run with paegle boy through the Highlands.
Finally got around to this one and enjoyed it. Due to not being able to get on and off the freeway here we've driven past it a number of times and it seemed oh so close. Today we enjoyed the walk to GZ- many years ago I'm sure I walked all the way down. After a short search we had the cache. Thanks!

Another great walk in this area.. I will return to do the full walk when I have a bit more time TFTC
