We think the container needs a little maintenance. The magnet doesn't fit properly, we had to fix it with a little piece of wood, but glue would be much better.
Tui was having a bath in a fountain. The cache itself wasn't as exciting as what comes next: We found a cell phone in one of rose beds and start to looking for his owner. Fortunatelly this story ended happily, cell phone was returned:)
This was our first real micro-cache. I mean REAL micro-cache, not those micro-cached which are big as small film containers:) Thanks

I got all the way to the end and could not find the little container. Thanks anyway. I might have time to try again when I come back to the area.
Finally found it. But the owner has probably to repair the cache. When we got it, it was falling apart...

We enjoyed our wander around the rose garden looking for the different varieties. Most were in full bloom and were a colourful sight. Nice quick find once we had all the numbers. Thanks.

enjoyed the multi puzzle part
but very frastrated by the ending.... we had a clear day and a GPS tollerance of _+5m the clue didnt help much...so after 4 people gave up the search for needle in a scent garden... it may be muggled. would appreciate an owner checkup or narrower clue

We finaly found it. The first try was not successfull, because we do the caching without GPS, so we searched at our hostel for the new coordinats with google earth.
A very nice idea with the signs!

Such a nice spot for a cache & so many crazy rose names! We also spotted the Pascali spelling mistake but it was pretty obvious since that was our last one to find that it was correct.

There is the odd flower or two, but we have timed our visit a few weeks too early - in November, the roses will be looking fab.
Helped to have the 2 of looking for the info, and we soon tracked down the required numbers and quickly had a cache in hand.

#2651. 'twas getting towards the end of a long caching down, and we were slowing down. Plugged away and got there in the end. Well put together cache.
Usually I have problems with those caches as I end up missing one or two names and I lose patience, but this time all was OK and I got the final cache pretty quickly!
Nice park!

A very enjoyable wander with bubble13 after work today. It was easier doing the systematic grid search with the two of us. TFTC #2229
This was a lovely wander around, pitty was wrong time of year for roses though. Quick find.
Finally found on second attempt after having achieved first stage earlier on.
All the necessary small green signs were present (although for co-ord F, the variety is Pascali, not Pascal). Not many roses in bloom today and the gardens themselves are a bit downcast after all the recent rain. This was quite a search for the co-ordinates, even done systematically, but then a frustrating search for the cache itself, this being only our second nano find. A very satisfying find in the end though!!! The log is chocca and needs to be replaced. TFTC
A great way to start a beautiful day in Napier. Co-ords were soon worked out, & a quick find at final. TFTC
Found at 21:37 on 24/04/2011.
Bored with TV at the campground, tomorrows weather forecast is pretty wet so I went out for a walk in the dark with my torch.
Systematic search gave enough info [9 or 10] to be able to pinpoint the cache.

Great hunt this was, took ages to find all the roses and even had the help of a park worker who knew what we where looking for. Excellent day out
Had some problems here. Searched at least four times - twice in the pouring rain. Some of the beds had been dug up and the roses and name plates removed and I imagine that was where the missing "Clare" had gone. A beautiful spot and we shall return when the roses are next in full bloom..
We started this morning with this cache but there were people working in the garden so we decided to go to town first and come back later. After dinner we gave it another try, with the falling night chasing us we tried to get all the numbers in the right place before it was to dark to see. That worked out well. But the coordinate was a way off... Far away from the garden. That could not be a good option. Doing our homework again neither was an option since it was by than dark; no more roses to see.
We tried the option: were would we have hidden it if we were the owners of the cache. That and the numbers we did have and a lot of luck brought us to a 'YES!! Found it!'
Doing a nano cache, without the right coordinate in the dark... that was a first.
Thanks for bringing us to this lovely garden. We stopped and smelled the roses. Twice on one day.
PS: hardly any room left to log... we scribbled it somewhere where between other logs.

Neat spot that seems not that well known. Camping next door so just HAD to do this one. Awesome help from gardener with the types of roses.
As roses were passed their best he gave Mrs Jumoz a dvd with photos of them in bloom. Cheerz Jumboz

CACHE 900!! Enjoyed this one, a very colourful and fragrant spot today, nice to wander here before heading home to Hamilton. TFTC, a worthy milestone!
This was our best cache in New Zealand ! TFTC. It is really a nano size . And we have to admit we use one more hint from a great guy - a gardener taking care about these roses. Thanks to him as well.
Great first multi for the geokids. They loved running around searching out roses! Found cache on the second search. Stayed at the great camp next door!
2859 What lovely gardens, the scent from the roses was delightful. Thanks for the fun multi.
We're on a trip around the world and now for 7 lovely weeks in NZ. Yesterday we walked around this nice city, today we smelled the roses next to our campground. Didn't know there were so many different ones. Great! Had some help from the gardener here, although we were very close. Thanks for showing this nice park. Greetings from the Netherlands.
back in business, looking good too, full of colour
place isn't far off it's best

searched for a while but all the gardens are bear so dont know if its still there. its hard when you dont what vessal your looking for.
Third time lucky for me and very glad to get crossed off my list at last. First time my GPS played up just as we'd go all the clues. Second time the heavens opened just as I realized there was going to be quite a search to do. Third time, found on second and more thorough search. The log book is half full now. Great puzzle, lovely little spot, good challenge too. TFTH.
Second attempt at this, re-checked all our co-ords, We were in the right place the 1st time.
Just didn't look hard enough. Had a nice chat with the gardener.

I think we made Wally's (the gardener's) day! He wandered over and asked if we were caching soon after we arrived. Seems like YuGeo4 spread the word well. Discussed caching (rather than roses!) in some detail, and really enjoyed the chat. The younger EU crew members had heaps of fun burning off energy on the grass area. Collected the required info quick enough and very soon after had located the cache. Wally was heading home for lunch so dropped over as we were signing. Great to catch up Wally, and the gardens will look stunning in a months time when they come into flower. TFTC
5055 A most enjoyable multi, had no problems locating all the roses and the final. We met Wally the “Roseman”, had a great yak about… roses of course… and the past exploits of visiting geocachers. He is very knowledgeable about the game, and now knows where the final is… got him to sign the log as well… nice to have met you Wally, and hope to see you join the geocaching ranks in the near future. Many thanks Kenny, for the cache.
found all the names except one but managed to work out the final coodinates from what i had. Thanks i now know more about roses than i did before.
Was starting to get dark when I arrived at this one. Did a pretty good search for the names and after the pass was missing only 2 which were not too important ones. Quick search at GZ and little cache located. Pretty hard work for the little cache, but worth the find. SL Thanks for the cache.
3 DNF's in a row = welfare check
Cache is still where I left it
Lots of Tui in the gum trees too [^] [^]

Had an interested helper today with the co-ordinates, but couldn't locate the nano. Gave up fairly quickly due to rain. J: The spelling should be Bering.
Sat in the car waiting for the rian to pass before we ventured out with Louis, our trusted companion. Found the co-ordinates OK using the different gardens but ALAS!! couldn't find the cache. Then the rain came and we had to leave. Louis washed himself in the fountain before we left.
Quite a tricky one, according to the main signage there are 500 named roses here which is a lot of little signs to check. Missed three of the ones to find on my first pass but got them on the way back. A good wee challenge and loved some of the names seen.

A lovely scented multi. Enjoyed our wander through the garden. Aotearoa gets 1st prize for perfume. Pascal was spelt wrong, has an i on the end. Raspberry Ice was a favourite on this hot day. Found all the numbers and discovered the cache right where we thought it might be. Thanks for a nice cache hunt. TFTC.
Couldn't find C but with trial and terror managed to come up with an option which turned out to be right. Did the collection of data before going out to dinner where I plotted the options. Came back during the drizzle and found the final with the aid of my little torch.
Cheers for the cache.
Cheers for the cache.
Well we found all the names and logged our co-ordinates and found what we thought was the spot but could not find the cache?????????????????
A fun multi, Surprised to be 2nd TF. It wasn't tip toe through the Tulips but ramble through the roses. Found final after a short search. TFTC
Yah a FTF at 4:15pm. Well I had helpers who ran round all the roses searching and in the end we couldn't find Aotearoa so had a guess - WRONG. GZ is not across the road in the drain. So round again then finally found GZ and got to write our name in the log first. Very pleasing and an easy find when you use your nose!! Thanks for bringing us here as I had never found the gardens before. TFTC
