An interesting puzzle that took me several attempts to solve. Eventually I had the correct coords and could make the trip out to collect this cache. Thanks for maintaining this one, always good to find an older cache
Out and about today and as I was driving past, decided to take the gravel road up to GZ. Walked and found the ache. Signed log. TFTC George Montague
Up in the Lockyer Valley to attend an Event with RoddyC, Hatzofff , Snickersallan and Patrol14 and picking up a few caches before and after it.Some great views along the way. This was a quick and easy find thanks to the hint. Log signed as group before replacing all as found. TFTC
Out with geofriends caching in the area, and now slowly making our way back to the highway to go home.Another cache on the road and we had to stop. Luckily one in our group loves sudoku so happy to have final coords for this one.A bit of a trek in but we made a quick find of this cache, log signed cache returned.Last one for today. IN the dark!!TFTC George Montague
Caching before the event. Travelling and caching with RoddyC Snickersallan imbunda and patrol14.Our first bush bash for the day and the last cache for the day and the sun has gone to bed.Love doing sudoku so not sure how long ago this one has been sitting waiting.TFTCache George Montague
In the Lockyer Valley and surrounds today because of an Event at Plainland. With hatzofff, imbunda, and Snickersallan.Love a good Sudoku, or at least, my better half does! After a short jaunt into the bush, the cache was soon in hand.Log signed and cache replaced as found at 6:32 pm on 4 November 2023. TFTC, George Montague

Pprime and I were out for some Wednesday Madness, albeit on a Monday. We had decided on Toowoomba for the day, with this being the start of our Madness en route.
Now this sudoku had me going mad. Pprime had already sent himself the same attempting it. But we weren’t going to let it go. Luckily for us there’s more than one way to skin a cat, and a number of pieces of paper and online scrawling later and this morning we were pleased to have ourselves a set of coordinates.
I was glad we had brought Missy as the geomobile of choice today as I just don’t have the same confidence in Harvey on a road like this one (don’t tell him but little Mia definitely outperformed him on roads like these). Anyway, Missy made short work of it all, and we were soon leaping out of the car to go and make our find.
Thanks for the cache George Montague.

A mad Monday special day, with the mad 1MinnieMoo onboard Missi with Me ... having driven through Ma Ma creek (what a cool place name). 1MM did the honours resolving the nuts puzzle - I did give it a red hot go but I am time poor. We traversed up 'that track' to GZ ... and after a U turn further up decided to just park in the middle of the road. Thankfully a quick find, and we were soon back onboard and traveling back downhill.
Thanks George Montague for entertaining me at this location.

A day of caching with the notorious Peppa; it was supposed to be around the Warwick area. Well we ended up with a bite to eat and a drive through Warwick at the end of the day, ahh there is always another day.
It is always a fun day and the plan is usually out the window by the first cache. Today was no different and an educational one for both of us. Peppa’s wisdom and visions are always welcomed and my silliness just seems to make us laugh (yes I can see you laughing on the inside Peppa) just creates for a fun day.
Last time we cached together it was all about Peppa, I will admit today was all about me, lol, even though our first cache was one I had already done and only his lordship required.
I signed the log and replaced the cache as found thanks for the hide.

A lovely day for a quiet drive in the country, and a mtce check on a couple of caches. This one was buried by ants shifting sand around, but managed to get it open. Log book dry ok.
Enjoyed solving this puzzle and after a short bush bash we made an quick find.

A beautiful sunny day that was begging us to come out and play, so a-caching we will go!
Nothing better than fresh air & sunshine on a country drive to raise the spirits.
Mr VC solved this puzzle way back, so far back I can't remember when!
Finding ourselves just down the road we decided to head up here & take a look around ... OMG, I know why it's called Razorback Rd?
At one spot I think I stopped breathing!
Once at GZ it was a quick find, straight to the cache where all is in good condition.
Made our mark & replaced as found.
We noticed a comment on the cache page about slashing a portion of GM's anatomy ... in regard to the puzzle GM, you are safe with us but it could be a preferred option when we consider the approach to the location of GZ!

Had some time to kill so took a drive to find some caches. The GPS sent me in circles for a bit before finally settling and I found the prize. Tftc
Found at 1:03 PM GAFF5/1.
What an impressive drive and scenery along the way to GZ. Odd that the cache container had so much mud on it as it looks to be in quite a high spot?
Thanks George Montague

Knowing I’d be the area today, I had a look at this puzzle last night... ahhh George Montague does like his number puzzles... I was actually surprised as to how quickly the numbers started to fall out... it’s very satisfying to complete a GM puzzle...
Knowing about the dodgy phone reception, I preloaded the GPS... making use of the turning 400 metres down the road I proceeded to drive past GZ so had to walk back up the roads away... considering it hadn’t been found for a year and a half it was a quick find with spot on co-ordinates... I’ve not seen one of these containers, and to indicate its quality, the contents were pristine... tftc... very enjoyable experience all round...

Heading to an event today, I figured it was a good day to take a detour and find some caches, including this one! Thanks for placing it here.
Have started on this one before the trip this way came up.
I still have a few numbers to go on my sheet but as I was the designated driver for beardman today I got to jetski the puzzle.
All good with the cache
Thank you for this one

Anticipating a trip to this part of the world this morning, I printed out the sudoku and sat down one night during the week to have a crack at it. It turned out to be not so bad and I soon had a solution the checker liked. After our hike at Glen Rock, Karicka and I headed over here. The GPS wanted us to take a no through road but we soon made it to GZ where Karicka made a quick find. Thanks for the cache
Wow, firstly, I need to apologise for this log, We've been busy with work and other things so we have a few drafts stored away that need to be turned into logs, ofcourse, your receiving this because we found the cache... we came, we saw, we found, we signed, we smiled... all we can say is sorry and thanks for the cache!
Finally, this cache has our names in the log book. We have spent a lot of time picking up the puzzle putting it down and repeat this we don't know how many times and in the back of our heads thinking that it may get archieved before we could log it. A great area and good views, the cache is in good condition. SL TFTC
This was a satisfying find! Lovely drive. In the area placing a couple of hides of our own so we thought we'd come past to get the smile. Tftc George Montague xo
Forgot to mention that Mrs Felix actually solved this back in 2015 when we thought we would be in the area. Mr Felix adapted the colours of the grid then printed it out for Mrs Felix to solve. Sadly it took us 2 and half years to get here to find it so a sweet find indeed for us.
We are nomads. Having left Perth WA in February 2014 we now live in our caravan and go wherever the will or caches take us.
Currently staying at Laidley today we decided to head out for a drive in the surrounding area. Got a little sidetracked and strayed further than we had loaded into the GPSr. Luckily we had GSAK with us and were able to grab coords for caches offline. Phew.

On a run through heifer creek road, came to check this one was still OK. Cache was a bit hard to open, but all in good condition once I removed the sand and spider webs.
Wow nice drive the car along to GZ. Finally found cache and signed the log. Thanks
T-Tech had to work up at Mount Kynoch today and I got to tag along [^] While he was busy I took a drive down to get this cache sorted. It has been on my solved list for a couple of years, but every time I was in Toowoomba there just wasn't the extra couple of hours needed. Today I enjoyed a leisurely drive, and had no trouble reaching GZ, where I made a quick find. TFTC, George Montague.
Solved this some time ago when I knew I was staying in Gatton, well it never got found and travelling through with friends it was time for a find. TFTC
After a team solving effort last year it was great to be back to find the cache. The drive to GZ was interesting with the land on both sides of the road sloping steeply into the valleys. It was a fairly quick find - thanks George Montague.
Joint puzzle solving effort with geo friends and I must say I have not done this type of sudoku before. This was a lovely trip with great scenery on both sides of the steep road to get to GZ where a nice quick find was made. Thanks George Montague and TFTC
Love the drive love the little stone cottage got to gz and started getting worried as there been recent ground clearing for a fire break when out of the corner of our eye we saw something sus. Found it.

We had this solved ages ago, or at least Geowife solved it as I'm not much good at Sudoku's. I needed a Mystery cache for the souvenir on offer this weekend and since we were camping out this way, then this one was the one to go for
I'd checked the coords out on Google Earth ages ago also when I converted the coords via solved puzzle, but somehow got into my head that the cache was near a different road (obviously didn't look at map properly). So we were going up and down a different road but GPS kept getting only within 1.4 Klms which was getting me confused and thinking we must have worked the coords wrong? Nope, they were right as eventually found a road going the direction we needed. The cache was eventually found and everything in good order. I was surprised to see that another cacher had signed the log TODAY! I am logging this online now, as we back home from camping trip so my online log will precede the person who actually signed before me in physical logbook.
Great Sudoku puzzle and a nice scenic location too, so this one gets a favorite point.

I've never done a puzzle like this before. What a challenge! I just kept working away at it. I had trouble reading the numbers in the puzzle so I read back through the logs hoping to get some hints and I found a CO Note giving all the numbers (Feb 2010). That helped me lots. Made all the difference actually.
Finding the cache was pretty easy. Lots of work being done around GZ and a rather large tree has come down very close by but the cache is unscathed.
Thankyou George Montague.

This puzzle gave me a little more grief than I had expected. I love puzzles like this, and the harder the better! I fell short due to the fuzzy numbers, and to poor logic quite a few times. Eventually I nutted out a suitable solution.
We took the' Goldielover foodie tour of Ma Ma' trip to GZ, and were still hungry at the end. The trip to the cache was fun, and a surprising amour of roadwork missed GZ by a heartbeat. Really lucky to survive.
Thanks for the fun once again Mr Montague.

Crookedpete, Swellerfungus, Walandor, Goldielover, Stairman1 and I had been out this morning for a walk up to Glen Rocks. After successfully completing the journey we decided to call in to a few caches on the way home. Crookedpete, who had been wearing the shirt that his wife likes best (the one with the yellow stripe down the front), had bowed to family demands and returned straight home rather than continue on with the group. We took a bit of a scenic tour to get to this one, looking for a road that did not exist but was shown on our maps, and then stopped off to feed a hungry Goldielover who was not satisfied with the choices on offer at the shop and refused to accept an election day sausage instead. Talk about fussy, who doesn't like a sausage on election day! We eventually made it near GZ and we approached with apprehension as our GPS's were pointing right at a place where the fenceline had been cleared with a bulldozer. Luckily GZ had been spared by a couple of meters and Walandor completed the find. TFTC
Found with our small group of adventurers today. It is a long way around from Glen Rocks which we had climbed earlier in the day. Thanks to the guys that had solved this in advance. TFTC
I finally got this one solved and got the tick of approval from the checker.
I headed out today for a close by First to find and came back to this one after it.
The road up is having some work done to it so it was all graded with some bumps for water runoff.
Arrived at GZ and I went to find the cache while geopartner turned the geomobile around.
I soon found the cache and a photo was taken and the log signed.
TNLNSL TFTC Thanks George Montague All good with this cache

Yes indeed, the container lid is perforated. Thanks for the notice. Container replaced. I loved the cute Christmas coin purse too!
Day two of my little trip away. The new pop up tent had done the job. Plenty of room for me and my plush air mattress and it kept me warm and dry.
After scaling a rock earlier this morning I was heading of towards Goomburra for my second night, collecting a few smiles along the way.
This one was solved in preparation for a trip to Toowoomba with IolantheK. Sadly that was the weekend the ex-tropical cyclone was making its way down the state, so we cancelled the trip.
I meandered my way along vaguely familiar roads from Glen Rock. When I passed through Mt Sylvia I realised why it was familiar. I had ridden my bike through this area twice during the Epic Cycle race.
The road to GZ is emblazoned on my brain. I have pedaled up this hill twice. It is much easier in the car. I drove to the turn around point and came back to GZ.
A nice quick find and thanks for a not too challenging puzzle.

Gotcha !!! Picking up a few on the way to the Mega. What a great spot. Mrs Temingi enjoyed doing the puzzle. A Fav. Point from me. Visited Travellers. TFTC
We solved this one a good two years ago and has been on our to do list since. Loved working through this slowly slowly, double checking every step so we didn't have to redo it. This is the first of this type of puzzle we had attempted and was most satisfying to successfully complete it.
Out today picking up a few unloved caches and added this one to the list. We haven't driven this far along the Gatton-Clifton Rd before (coming from Gatton side) and while driving to the cache we were impressed by the deep, narrow cutting along the way, complete with falling rocks signs. Turning off onto the track towards the cache and noted the name of the road...we soon saw how apt the name is...sheesh!!! Interesting spot. TFTC.
Note: We are attempting the "15 years of no love" Challenge (GC5D7PK). The previous online log on 10 November 2014 was an 'arm chair' cacher who logged over 400 caches on the same day - many of this person's online logs were deleted by other COs. This name does not appear in the physical logbook. Disregarding this find we have achieved the minimum 183 days unfound.

Happy New Year! While most people enjoy a sleep in on New Years Day, we were up and exploring to add a few more caches to the tally sheet.
Mrs Esky set the agenda for the day, and this was the third one on our hitlist. Having never been down this way, I enjoyed exploring through the area and seeing places we've not seen before.
Thanks for the adventure.

Mrs. Herbz enjoys Sudoku puzzles so this one was right up her street! We had spent an enjoyable day at Glen Rock and were wending our way home to the Gold Coast arriving here at GZ just before sunset. It took us a while to locate as the GPSr was bouncing around, probably due to the rapidly approaching storm. Eventually it settled down and the log book was signed just as the first heavy drops of rain began to fall. The cache was quickly re-hidden and we made a mad dash back to the geomobile. Sorry for the late log. TFTC.
Captain Terror and I were heading home from yet another enjoyable week at Stanthorpe. We had decided to take the back road home instead of taking the Cunningham and this puzzle was barely a detour from the route we were taking. I had coordinates for this cache and couldn't see any reason why I shouldn't get it.
With the Captain behind the wheel of the subaru and myself navigating we were soon on our way up. There were quite a few trucks around but none of them seemed to be interested in us. We parked the car and I headed over to make the find. We could hear trucks getting closer so were rushing. I found the cache and signed my name in it before rushing back over to the car and heading back down. We had to pull off the side of the road to let one truck past but he radioed down to the others and we had a clear run. Thanks for the cache George Montague.

I love difficult but do-able puzzle caches like these -it means that when you're stuck at home you can still cache there!! Took us quite a few nights to get the cache co-ords sorted as we'd never done Sudoku puzzles before, but we got there in the end. When the geo-checker gave us the thumbs up it was a very satisfying feeling!!
Well that was back in September, and we finally made the day trip today down Pharaoh's Trail and along to the Ma Ma Creek area. It's nice to get this one finally completed
In the 43degree heat today we sure felt the harshness of the Australian bush! Our family loves the Aussie bush and we enjoyed the search, the swaps and the views this one gave today [^]

As we were almost going past, and had not visited here for a while, we dropped by to check things. All still in good condition, with lots of nice swaps. Looking for a few more visitors! The cache is till pretty much as it was installed. The hardest part is solving the puzzle, not finding the cache in the bush.
Luckily Kestal is the puzzle queen and had the co-ords for this one. With our new GPS, off we went and found the cache! TFTc
I had solved this puzzle a while back and have driven passed once before not quiet knowing which way to go and because it was getting late in the day we decided to leave it for another day. Today it was We drove up the road and began to wonder how wonderful the views might be and other than a lot of tree coverage there were definitely glimpses of far and wide. Great puzzle and I am stoked I can add this one to the smiley list TFTC George
Needless to say, I love this type of puzzle!! !! I thought I had had this one sorted a long time ago, however when we arrived at this one, my coords didn't match the description hmmmm, think I might have had a caclulation error, a quick PAF and my error was soon discovered, hmmmm, only 150m out!! Well, that's embarrasing!!
A quick stroll, and I was very happy to see a familiar sight!!
Thanks George Montague, FP from me.

I found this puzzle really challenging. (Never seen anything like it before.) Eventually contacted the CO to verify some of the numbers in the grid as it just wasn't working out. Was given a helpful tip on how to approach it and am so grateful for the advice. Finally... the numbers all fell into place.
What a beautiful sunny day today - couldn't think of a better way to get over jetlag than to get out in it. Collected a couple of other caches along the way to this one. What awesome views along this road. Parked on the road nearby and soon spotted a likely hiding spot.
Cache is in great condition - cool swaps, log clean and dry.
All in all, we loved this one.
Thanks for bringing us out here George Montague.

This is a puzzle that has been bugging me for about 7 months.
I have tried solving it a few times without success so have left it.
I was in last 10 'closest to home' caches...then moved into the last 5 'closest to home'.
So this morning I had another go at it.
I finally finished the puzzle and was able to calc some co-ords that the checker liked.
I jumped in the car and took off. Somewhere near where the icon is I finally turned on the GPSr and discovered I DID NOT load the finals into the GPSr. I jotted down what I remembered of the co-ords and headed to that spot. And I was right. Absolutely spot on.
What a great road getting to this cache? Awesome.
The cache, logbook, swaps are all in excellent condition.
Thanks for the cache.
A fav point for a good puzzle and a great location.

This was our next find while I was out and about with Captain Terror. The puzzle had been solved quickly - but the trip was a bit of an undertaking. Captain Terror suggested we take this route to the Stanthorpe Event and grab some caches.
We trotted up the road in the car and eventually arrived at GZ (after I fixed one my famous "transposing errors". The cache was found after a small hunt and in good condition. A lovely area with some good news. TFTC George Montague

Had decided to take this route from home to Stanthorpe with Fangsoki so I set about solving the puzzle. I had a bit of a trick up my sleeve and had this one solved in only a couple of minutes. Did the maths and had a likely set of co-ords. Driving past today and followed the GPS past the cache to turn around and park closeby. Wandered in on foot and soon spotted the likely hiding spot. Signed log and replaced. I quite liked the drive to this place and the views along the way - a lot of landslides across the valley in the recent rains too. I enjoyed this one, and a blue icon to boot, TFTC
Found with Bedmaker.
We'd had this one solved for a long time but this was the first opportunity we've had to come out this way.
This was a great spot and we enjoyed the drive here. You can still see a lot of damage and debris here from the floods.

Found with TassieGirl.
TassieGirl has the knack when solving these Sudoku's so I happily let her work her magic.
We've had it solved for quite a while but haven't had the chance to venture out this way for a while. Today we did so we called past and picked it up.
A very fitting place in amongst all the Ironbark.

I'm not so keen on having to do a puzzle at home before getting the co-ordinates for a cache (could be a huge hurdle for cachers at heart, as they won't be able to do the cache). For us it was a cache luring so close.. ;D So did the sudoku, put the co-ords into the GPS and off we went.
It's a lovely short drive through the bush just off the Gatton-Clifton Road. We saw a wild pig laying on the track that mysteriously was missing it's head. Dunno where it's brains went.
Lots of scrub turkeys and wallabies running around as well. Lovely place.
The co-ordinates were spot on.
Thanks for putting a chache here George Montague.

Sudoku is not my forté. But, it was done and the co-ordinates confirmed. After that it was quite an easy find.We hadn't been up the main road for quite some time and it was interesting to see the changes wrought by the rains and council work on the road.
Thanks for the cache.
Thanks for the cache.
I had solved this puzzle quite some time ago. Passing through the area today and this was on the hit list. We had worked out the correct approach and it was no problems navigating our way close to the cache. Loki arrived at GZ and decided where to start her search while Pagan walked straight up to the cache . Thanks for a great puzzle and a great cache George Montague
Took some serious effort to solve this puzzle, but took even longer to find myself on the road to GZ. Scenery on the way is spectacular indeed. Would be a nasty trek if you happened to pick the wrong ridge . Happily, we were in the right place and found the cache after a gentle walk from the van. TN/LN/SL On the way down the hill, we stopped for Mrs Lat&Long to photograph some impressive cactus plants/trees and found an old Holden just over the edge. It's obviously been there for years, and if there were any occupants in it at the time, it would have been a nightmare ride.
Gee, Mr Montague, you find some amazing spots As I enjoy doing Sudoku, Mr L&L thought I would be good at solving this one.......well, I had a go but it is far too much for this brain so again, as I do with most of the puzzles, I rode in on Mr L&L's back to claim a find.
There are some amazing prickley pear trees in this area. Obviously the cacti blastis didn't find it's way to help with a much needed cull. TFTC and the opportunity to see this little part of the Darling Downs.

Drove to turn around point on road and came back and was able to park just off road virtually adjacent to where I would have to walk in to GZ. Quick find. As I was walking in, in the drizzle my GPSr indicated about 3meters to go but as I was looking at my feet I spied something that did look a little out of place and there it was. Thank you to the person who marked the spot. I did not disturb it in case the owner has set it up like this. Good hiding spot and container is dry. Found at 1115. TNLNSL TFTC
Has taken me awhile. Got onto a website Sudokuprofessor.com and took a few lessons and then had another go at the sudoku puzzle. Checked with the solver site and what a big surprise when I arrived at the correct set of Co ordinates. This one will now have to wait a couple of weeks till I have some days off and come down to the area. Thanks for a good brain teaser.
Phew! What a headache this was for us! I've never done a Sudoku puzzle before. I emailed the cache owner who supplied an explanation and a couple of suggestions for beginning. Having never done one before it was very daunting. Before leaving home I stopped over to a friend's home who does them and asked if she could help. She was out of her depth she said and left us to struggle on by ourselves. We worked on it during the drive from the Gold Coast to Warwick, from Warwick to Pittsworth to Nobby and back, plus both evenings. We were so close - we thought - but had two numbers in one column the same even though the strange pattern was right. Finally we hoped we had it right and had to use a texta to go over our myriad of try out numbers to make sense of it. You have no idea the satisfaction we felt when we drove up towards GZ, parked about 100 metres down the hill and walked up to find the cache right where the co-ordinates we worked out said it should be. Phew!! What a relief! (We didn't have a computer with us to check on eVince if our calculations were correct, so had to do the lengthy drive and hope for the best.)
Thanks for the challenge George. What I really want to say is I wouldn't want to have to do one of those every day.
Took: TB to move along and key ring
Left: santa sock purse, car and key ring

Found at 0930Hrs. I had expected this cache to be found and logged over the weekend, as groewrs was ahead of me in solving the puzzle – and in correcting GM in the errors of his ways. But when nothing had been logged this morning and I finally had the co-ords, it was time to head off for a find. A second to find, as it turned out. Congratulations on your FTF groewrs – too quick for me.
Nice spot up there too, but with low cloud and rain the view was obscured. I might have to come back on a clear day.
I parked near the cache then continued up the road and turned around just before the gate to the Razorback property.
Now, that puzzle – I have done a few sudoku puzzles in my time, but that type is new to me. After a bit of research I found that it is a “killer” sudoku and a “jigsaw” sudoku mutated together (both of which are mutations in their own right!). Very twisted GM…
Excellent cache which I thoroughly enjoyed on all levels.
Thanks George Montague.

15/02/2010 14:51 Found: Having solved this one shortly after it's release, and not being able to get to it right away, I was pleasantly suprised to find a blank log when I arrived at the GZ.
Took the Geocoin, Left a Travel Bug.
Just a note for future cachers: there is a great parking spot about 150m before the cache. This gives you a nice short walk up the hill, and the added bonus of a downhill walk back to the car
Thanks again George. Make sure to double-check those maths next time

Evince coordinate verification is now correct. If you want me I'll be standing over in the corner! [B)]
I like this cache concept.
It might just be my computer and printer, but I have difficulty determining the numbers in the magenta/pink squares as they are very fuzzy, both on screen and when printed out.
Could the totals of the coloured blocks be clarified or confirmed in some way please?

It looks like GM must have been indulging in too much hop juice when doing the sums.
Corrections for the formulas T, U and V have been made.
Sorry about that. [B)]

Added Coordinate verification.
Don't think I can improve legibility, but the sum numbers in each row are:
16, 7, 19, 5, 9
3, 18, 17, 17
21, 6, 10
17, 6, 23, 7, 4, 5
14, 18
10, 24, 8, 17
3, 7, 16, 22
5, 22
7, 9, 13

I've informed the owner about the errors of his ways, and the Maths should be fixed shortly!
