I'm ditching dad again and heading down south for the Mega in Dunedin. During this trip I managed to do many things and meet many people over the 2 weeks I was away. Thanks to all the cache owners and other cachers for making this trip enjoyable.Day 4 of the trip. Todays adventure is Danseys pass. A great lot of caches but I struck a large hurdle towards the end of the day with not only 1 but 3 punctures. So had to get into dunedin via a 2hr tow truck ride. A nice quick find. How interesting are all these reminders of our geological past! Tricky place to park, but found and then I went on to read the info. Thanks for the education, drawp.
Coconuts3came up with this one while I heard the news that our daughter is getting married!! Will never forget this cache. It took them a while however, but all safe and dry in a fascinating spot. TFTH
Out having fun on a caching explore trip with busy paws. What an impressive spot and so glad we came here. Had us looking for a while as in such a safe spot. Busy paws was on an exciting phone call. All happily signed log and put back. Thanks for bringing us here and the cache drawp.
Easter family adventures. After a night in Timaru and a morning bike through another section of the A2O we were now heading for Danseys Pass and Naseby for a few nights. Wow; cool features....
I started my great and unique round trip over the South Island in Christchurch.
My first major stopover was at Lake Tapeko - here I hiked up to Observation Mountain.
I then planned two days in Mount Cook NP with some unforgettable hikes. My big goal was the Mueller Hut - on a super strenuous hike I reached it.
I continued my journey over the lonely Danseys Pass to Dunedin.
Afterwards I drove along the Southern Scienic Route via Invercargill to Manapouri for some days. On this route I visited many sights and enjoyed the beautiful nature again and again.
I already booked a tour to the Doubtful Sound in advance - another highlight on my tour.
Afterwards I drove on to Queensown and Wanaka. From there I continued over the Haast Pass to the lonely Jackson Bay with storm and heavy rain. Afterwards I drove along the west coast always in pouring rain.
The rain stopped the whole west coast, but I had good rainwear with me. Only high up in Nelson the sun shone again.
Soon I reached the east coast again in Picton and Blenheim and the sun was shining again.
After a few days I travelled back to Christchurch via the beautiful town of Kaikoura.
At the end of my round trip I spent a few more days in Christchurch and its surroundings.
I visited many geological sites and found many caches on my round trip. In Rangiora I visited an event.
I travelled 3418 km and take home a lot of positive experiences.
Thanks to many beautiful caches I was also shown unique locations, historical sites and geological features.
I am overwhelmed by the fantastic and ever changing nature on the South Island of New Zealand - I will definitely come back.
Many thanks to all owners

Came to get the Earth cache and found this right next to where I'd parked the car. All good here TFTC
#17715. Interesting location and a quick find. Parking not great, but it's a quiet back round (but two or three cars passed while we were there). TFTC.
Found with StreetWalkerNZ while driving around North Otago picking up as many Mighty Oaks and solved puzzles as possible. A good day out, despite the southerly wind blasting us at many locations. And we had to drive past lots of caches too! Many thanks to all the cache hiders in the area, we are very grateful for the time and effort you put into geocaching.
One location and two caches, a bargain and well worth the stop! SW quickly tracked down the cache while I checked out the requirements for the earth cache. TFTC.

Heading to Kurow for the long weekend. A bit of a detour to get this one and a few others. Nice quick find here TFTC
First find of the day after dropping the boys at orienteering nationals today. Tftc
Decided to make a trip to Duntroon over the Dansey Pass. Lots of logs to find and sign and this one was one of them. TFTC
Our aim was the earth nearby. So, that one here was a gift. Thanks for the cache!
**This was 1 of 14 caches that was found by me on the 4rd of 19 days in New Zealand.**
**Which also was the 57th of 75 days that my travels thru southeast Asia and Oceania would last.**
This one was found while I was looking for the answers to the earthcache at this place.
*During 19 days I traveled from Christchurch to Auckland in an SUV, that i also slept in during most of the nights. 5.956 km of driving did it take to visit the 351 caches that I have marked as found in c:geo.*
*Earthcaches was my main focus during the stay. And I manage to visit 106 of them. So New Zealand is right now the only country where earthcaches are my most found cache type .*
Answers to earthcaches and virtuals did I send in via Message Center close after the visit, or when this log is written in March 2019.

Thanks came to do the earth cache too. Finding a few extra cache before I head back to Naseby.
Wow it is so amazing what you can find just on the side of the road. Walked along till I spotted the hide then off to read all about it. TFTC # 11,536
Day 6 - of our epic adventure around amazing Oamaru. With Geofest17 and Danseys Pass signed off, and A2O on Jack and Jill yesterday and still in the land of the living, we are off exploring Oamaru again.
Another snag and tag, while here for the Earth Cache. Interesting place. Cheers

It is the Wednesday after the Oamaru Geofest, But for Taybeedragon and myself, there is no *after*, There is only *still*. Still geofesting, the dragon and I cached Dansey's and the A2O a couple of days ago, and now we are back to fill in some of the gaps.
Not sure why this cache is here - the earthcache seems to celebrate the area perfectly.

Heading to the Oamaru Geofest with a group of like minded people, and collecting a few caches along the way....
Travelling with NZTravellers, UncleSamNZ, and KeyLev we signed in as 'SEAC17' to save logbook space.
Thank you to all the CO's for placing caches along the route.

With Gap (of Fap and Gap)… Our journey to the bottom of the South Island has been almost two years in the planning. We were determined to make it to Oamaru Geofest. We decided to also factor in completing a couple of missions (JASMER and Virtual challenges), and the wheels started turning...
Day Four: Naseby-Danseys Pass-Oamaru
Our plan for today was to be in Oamaru by evening. We wanted to be ready for the opening of Geofest tomorrow. We began stirring early this morning... A long haul to the top of the Danseys will also require a trip down the other side... Just when we thought we were over the worst of the road, the other side was more of the same... Since we were nearby, this needed a quick visit... TFTC.

After a good cafe breakfast at Naesby our mission was to complete the other side of Danseys Pass. Some caches were wet and damp and a couple of DNF'S. SLTFTC

We arrived in Dunedin today and traveled to Oamaru for the 2017 Geofest through Ranfurly, Nasbey and Danseys Pass. We attempted many caches throughout the long hot day and as it was the Geofest we bumped into fellow geocachers as well as a few muggles along the way. We were travelling with Keylev, UncleSam, Stik-a-Crane so to save log paper signed as Team SEAC 17.
Thanks to all the COs for the caches along the route.

So busy concentrating on the earth cache that I forgot to do this one. Lets hope that I can locate the necessary information on the earth cache.
Found while on drive heading towards Christchurch. A quick cache and dash, on a glorious sunny day. Parked 100 yards down the road, then ran up hill to the cache. TFTC TNLN SL
Ninalila and I left Dunedin to go to Oamaru and around.

All the boxes were easily found thanks to good coordinates and hints
Every days were sunny and warm, perfect for geocaching in Winter !!!

fefe.adrien and I travelled between Dunedin, Oamaru and Kurow (with the vanished trail) in order to discover nice places and learn more about the local history.
We enjoyed especially : Shag Point avec fur seals, the Moeraki Boulders, Elephant Rocks, Basalt Columns, fossils, Pillow Lava cliffs, Maori Drawings, the huge old landslide, etc.
All boxes were easy to find, without muggles around.

We had to go up abit further and do a uturn here as there wasnt much room on the road. The cache was quickly found and signed and we removed the peanuts in the cache. Probably the students that left them.

Cache has been found by Otago University geology students on camp. Wrote nicely in the log book and returned it to its hiding place. Oh that all muggles could be so considerate! TFTC
Parked down the road.
Found on our Invercargill to Christchurch road trip. We had a day around Oamaru so decided to go for a drive in the countryside. Thanks to all the cache owners who have put out some great caches in some great locations, we enjoyed our trip and enjoyed many of the places we found ourselves. SL TFTC.

This is a very cool place to stop, thanks for placing a cache here which gave us a good excuse to have a good look, rather than just drive past. Found with Aoraki Sheep.
I had this one in hand before anyone else had gotten out of the car. Found with debsnz
I completed the earth cache here last year. Nice to also add a traditional today.

04/01/13 Got confused on the 'recent' log dates until HM realised it hadn't been found for a year +/- [8)] But the nearby Earthcache has been found found in that last year. So strongly suggest that the cache is no longer in situ. Also would suggest that this place lends itself to a larger container than specified. I've always thought the major point of a cache was to take someone to somewhere interesting. And that the container should be appropriate. Mind you, a couple of (chill) pills would be handy about now... GC.
we dnf this a while ago with no intention of return. worker did not realise the cache 'till we turned up the road while on afternoon cruise. May as well look.....and found straight away. doh ! good fun
So many cars up and down this road despite being out in the wop wops. Long search but we finally found.
Decided to take a small detour on our way north to Waimate, arriving at GZ I thought to my self this looks like Déjà vu, I had a quick look and said to Mrs Yeetrees that I had being here before, but it was on another trip. After a few seconds after the GPS finally settled down and a quick search and we had the cache in hand. Would not like to try this when the road is busy or if the weather wasnt good. Thanks for bringing us back to this spot, managed to show Mrs Yeetrees where the earthcache was, TFTC TNLNSL (3086)
Felt a bit of a dill perched up the bank when snapped by a local farmer.(I'm 60)
Took a little hunting, but managed to find it with a little scramble. Cheers Gav [6467]
Just about needed to rope up with a Sherpa here! surprising amount of traffic along this road.... 2 people stopped to ask if we we OK.... THanks!
The road was nice and quiet so no one could me see me scrambling and searching.
Thanks

Bit of a scamble as I had to investigate a few examples of the clue - nice hide! Quite a few muggles passing must have wondered about our interest in the rocks.
Been here relatively recently for the Earthcache, bit surprised to find another right here. Tricky hide to access.
