Caching my way home after an epic kayaking weekend with Lee737 and Samuel737, we stopped here for this cache. Its a cool little spot and we even spotted 2 eels, answers have been sent. Thanks for the cache Aussiecacher
#8376After an epic day out yesterday paddling the Colo River were heading home across Sydney, stopping for interesting caches as we go. We were with Mighty Minions, chasing reasonable D:T's and trigs amongst other cache criteria, and detoured our way from Colo to Box Hill and then home through Galston and the gorge - very interesting towing a trailer! A great day out in great weather for 23 finds including a trio of trigs - and no DNFs!This was an interesting spot. We checked out the structure and its resident eels, chatted about some answers, took photos and pushed on.TFTC!
#8376OCW Mighty MinionsAfter yesterdays massive day around the Colo river, with about 55 kayak caches, today were just cruising through North-Western Sydney, grabbing a bunch of good DTs and types.Another beautiful day and a bunch of great caches! end of copy paste Answers shall be sent tonight!A cool spot, and nice to see some litter being controlled. A lot of rivers you see like this are full of crap the whole way down.Even saw 2 eels making refuge, pics included! Thanks for placing and maintaining this cache AussieCacher
Visited it during 28-days geotrip to Australia, N.Caledonia, Vanuatu, Fiji, Am.Samoa, Fr.Polynesia with Marci, Ch. Sometimes we logged as "MT" or "Jonea" or "MTCh". Thanks for showing nice caches and places. MT-Jonea from Brno city in Czechia EU. FP
I came here last year but ran out of time to log and answer the questions. Having a forced rest atm I thought I had best get my backlog of drafts and earthcaches up to date. What a fantastic area. I love it when something is done to preserve and improve our precious earth. Being as ex-Science teacher I used to teach ecology and the importance of it to our environment. Thanks for bring me here.A favourite from me.
Writing a note, to give time for my answers, which I have sent, to be accepted or rejected. I wasn't happy with the answers I was able to give.I targeted this, this being an Earthcache. Too many caches now to find, so I target certain subgroups. The sky was grey, getting very dark at one time, but it didn't rain on me while I was here trying to find the answers. TFTC AussieCacher.

We visited this EC and collected the necessary information. An interesting bit of EC discovery about weirs, water, pollution, sediment and erosion controls. Found with EverestHigh and MaxAdventurer. Answers sent by EH on behalf of all of us.
I have been to this location several times, collected the information, and took some photos.
I hadn't gotten around to logging it, but the current Souvenir requirement jogged my memory. I visited this Earthcache location with my geoson MaxAdventurer, and geobuddy Brewmaker. TFTEC AussieCacher

This earthcache is the only one in my LGA and I'm so pleased I've never got around to completing it, until today.
There's a construction zone in the vicinity which meant I needed to find a way in. The area downstream is really nice and a great area for animal and birdlife. I was pleased to see the pollution controls were working. I wonder how often the council needs to come and clear rubbish away.
My answers were obtained and I have sent them to the CO. I've received a rely that indicated to me I had permission to log. Thanks AussieCacher for this EC, a find on International Earthcache Day.

OCW marj01 around Rouse Hill, Annangrove and Kenthurst. Found the sign, did some observations, worked out some answers which marj01 has forwarded to the CO . TFTC AussieCacher.
In the area today and headed out to grab a few caches and this was one of them. Arriving at GZ the river level was up after last nights rain and the banks were a bit muddy but that didn't stop me from gathering the required information.
After reading all the information it was interesting at GZ to put it all together.
This is a very interesting EC that I have again learnt something new. I thoroughly enjoyed it and it gets a favourite point from me.

As cache #7400, I wanted to do a nice multi in Windsor, but it was so rainy that we decided to turn back.
Knowing it was international earthcache day, I was keen to get this Earthcache on the way back to Castle Hill. The rain of the last few days made the area quite interesting, soggy and muddy.
All answers were collected and as rain started to fall again I hurried back to the car.

Just a few quick caches here on International Earth Cache Day. With the oblilgatory Earth Cache of course.

A quiet little area, although the aim of this device is to clean the waterways, I'm not sure it is clean enough to swim in, nor would most people want to.
Log requirements will be sent to the CO shortly.

Good to get off the power trail for a bit and have a bit of a think about the local landscape. Thanks AussieCacher for keeping this one alive.
Arrived to GZ at 8:20pm. Have eyed this Earth Cache for a little while now and decided I wanted to go for it, even with nighttime having already set in. Armed with my flashlight and workbook, I arrived at the nearby oval car park with soccer training in full swing. No troubles here as neither party disturbed the other. I headed towards my destination and starting gathering my answers. Still had a good view of the area at night and was able to work out all that was required of me. Took some Snaps, wrote my email to the CO back in my car and sent that off at 9:10pm and then begin to write this Found log. I love Earth Caches, each one thus far has been a fun and enjoyable lesson. Earth Cache #11. Total finds #658. Спасибо! תודה! L’chaim! TFTC!

Pacgirl and I flew up to Sydney to visit Snoopy for a few days. The trip included sightseeing, socializing, and just a 'little' caching . My geopartners sometimes got a little impatient - they're obviously more muggles than they are cachers .
Today we headed north-west to Rouse Hill. Earthcaches are always high on the agenda, so obviously I had to stop to check this one out. Interesting to see how two different water systems are provided to residents in this area. Made my observations and mailed the answers to the CO.
Thanks for the earthcache, AussieCacher.

We are visiting my son and his family in Kellyville and at the moment , earthcaches are my favourite cache type. This one was both close and sounded very interesting and it was different to most other caches of this type. Answered the questions as best I could and have downloaded a photo which i struggled to take by myself and get the gps in as well.( hence the strange facial expression) not into selfies usually. Thanks Aussie cacher for a great cache and for bringing us to this place.
Beautiful full sunny.. i drive to rouse hill to meet skyejam and Sevabo then drive around to rouse hill and Pond find few caches.... stop look around earthcaches and take picture... Good Day.. thank
I had now decided to find many types in one day. Thanks for putting this Earth Cache here, a nice idea. I have sent my answers. Who would have thought there were so many types of weirs?
Took a few very bad selfies - have included 2 of them. I was alone today but I guess if everyone is to be included then it would have to be a selfie anyway.

who knew you could find out so much about pollution control and erosion at a small creek.
Has inspired me to create another similar earthcache back in Zimbabwe.
Nipped out yesterday to get the information so I could get the earthcache badge.

Out with JJCC on a cache run in order to find our daily cache and we decided to visit the Second Ponds Creek Earthcache for the 2015 International EarthCache Day.
Finding the lower gate off Withers Road entering Russell Reserve to the earthcache location open, we drove in and parked the car just above the weir. Walking down towards GZ we started gathering the required information in order to answer the questions. A pleasant stroll downstream to investigate and answer some more questions, then it was time to take a few photos before heading back to work.
The amount of rubbish collected is rather impressive and we wondered how often Sydney Water visited the site in order to clean and remove it. Although on the surface the system looks simply, it isn't until you take the time to see what is actually onsite that you see the complex system in its entirety.

Out with Team Merlin to find a cache to continue our streak. We needed to complete an Earthcache on 2015 International EarthCache Day. Our closest Earthcache is Second Ponds Creek EarthCache. This is only our fourth of this type and our first Souvenir of this type.
The GPS was set to the required coordinates to locate the needed cache. Parking quite close we only had a short troll to GZ. Being passed this area many times before not even realizing this was here.
Completing the required question set by the CO we leart a lot more about different types of weirs and pollution control. Walking in both directions of GZ to ensure we covered all needed parts. The native life was very abundant with a native ducks and new duckings enjoying the water ways
It was also surprising the amount of rubbish which had been collect. Not sure when or how often it is cleaned by Sydney Water. The system seem to be quite successful in keeping the creek in good condition.
All answers have been emailed to the CO thanks Team Merlin.

On the way to a local event, this cache was found as a "family affair". The answers to the CO's question were found (we hope) & emailed to him via Smurfyguy.
The location needs a cleanup by SWC (not the CO's problem). It's a shame that most of the rubbish was left by people.
The attached photo shows me on the left. The GPU is being looked after by the baby.

This EC is so close to home yet I have never found an Earth Cache (always to lazy to answer the questions). Well the pollution doesn't surprise me unfortunately. I was glad to see that not too much of the litter was washing downstream. TFTC
Enjoyed doing this Earthcache. Lots of wildlife to watch and listen to as well.
Interesting cache just down the road from our church. Have wanted to complete this one for some time now & decided it was time given the GC Road Trip 2015 needed an Earthcache. (Have posted the required photo & will email answers directly) TFTC
A great cache and our first EarthCache! We had lots of fun answering the questions and exploring a new area!
Must have been a big party upstream recently - how man plastic bottles & bongs?!?! What a sad reflection on our species that we can do this to our own backyard!
Earth caches can be beautiful, or they can stop and make us think.

After a big deranged adventure up in the Blue Mountains with bella at waggy and Gatherer Hade, I still had enough energy to come over here to grab this earth cache (and get the souvenir). I wandered around, got the information, took a selfie (to be added later) and then headed off. Answers to be sent to the CO shortly. And then noticed I had picked up 8 months of credit for the unloved-o-meter. TFTC.

26th to earn the souvenir, thanks to a little bit of temporal magic!

A different sort of earth cache. The Trap had a fair amount of litter in it so was due for a clean but it makes a difference down stream. We had a walk around and spotted some ducks. TFTEC

Had to head to an Earthcache today for the special souvenir. This was the closest un-found one not too far from home. All was quiet here today. I did my investigations and as I left I think another couple of cachers were just pulling in.

Headed down just before sunset to finally do this EarthCache, for souvenir day!
I wonder how often Sydney Water clear the pollution out of here? The setup looks quite effective at removing pollution. I'm definitely going to come down for a look after heavy rain (maybe later this week, if forecasts are correct), as I'm keen to see how the weir looks with a higher volume of water flowing through. Reminds me of school days where we'd sneak out in the rain to build our own little dams in the mud to try and control the water.
I've been past here a few times before, trying to get jmax's 'Pond Ponder' cache (still no luck on that one). A kookaburra was sitting up on one of the green pipe vents as I was leaving, but the light was getting too low for a photo.
Thanks AussieCacher for bringing me here and teaching me a few things!

All Strung Out was on a mission to collect 9 varied caches, and the 7 August Souvenirs in the closing hours ... the 'mushroom tagged along to a part of the world not visited for many a decade (and now utterly foreign to the remembered vast rural acreage).
A joint effort, with Mr ASO's outdoor career providing insights, and Mrs ASO's consultation and observation consolidating the answers. The waters appeared relatively clear further along and a lovely view, though decidedly murky at the GZ, also with the multitude of litter on the bank from the outlet. TFT Earthcache AussieCacher.

After attending the August meeting around the corner I had to get this to finish my August souvenir challenge. Thank you for the interesting information I never knew there was so many different types and different methods used for weirs, water pollution and erosion control . I had my geofamily with me so was good to teach my kids something new thanks for this cache. Found with LJ05, caitcat17 and hiddit. Will email answers tomorrow when I get in front of a computer thanks again.
Found with whitemushroom, in an attempt to find 9 cache types in 1 day. We enjoyed learning more about environmental protection, Have emailed answers hoping correct.

#8 of 9 on the Farewell to August cache diversity challenge to see how many different cache types I could find or attend in a single day. Was able to stop briefly on the way to the final event just around the corner to take a photo and collect the answers to the questions. All the recent rain helped highlight the necessity and effectiveness of these weirs, thanks AussieCacher for the cache and the lesson in preserving out natural environment. TFTC!
Thanks CO. I have sent the email through. Thanks for the lesson and for bringing me to a location that is close to home that I didn't know was here.
HannahBandana, Mummy and I went for a drive to see if we could get some geocaches as well as finish some of the 7 Souvenirs of August caches.
We stopped in to this cache and had a look around and wrote down a few answers to some really interesting questions.
It reminded Mummy and I of physical and environmental geology lessons at university.

#119....a long long long time ago I studied Applied Physical Geography. I never graduated or went in that direction career wise but the physical environment has always fascinated me. Thanks for this Earth Cache. Its not often I get a chance to stop and look at the local environment for more than a passing glance. The area was muggle free apart from the firey's doing some work next door. A great chance to sit quietly for 10 minutes and enjoy the environment. Email to follow. Couldn't photograph my phone so snapped my keys and feet TFTC

Arrived and gz was pretty soggy from the recent downfall of rain. We are attempting our final souvenir for August. Thanks for bringing us here. We learnt so much and we left more aware of the necessity to keep our waterways clean. Shame I can only add this pic. Tftc
[Apologies to the cache owner for this VERY delayed log! Our fourth of seven finds on International Geocaching Day. It earned us the "Nature Lover" souvenir as part of the 7 Souvenirs of August. It was good to spend some time to learn more about how these structures and processes work. Hopefully we came up with the correct answers.
Found this earthcache and enjoyed exploring the area while walking quite a way downstream. Answering the questions took us to long ago when we had to to do school assignments. Hope we get good marks for this one! Thanks for bringing us to this area to look and learn.
TFTC. Live nearby and didn't know this existed. Explored abit downstream and saw swamp hens, spoonbills, obligatory ducks, herons and a pelican! Heard lots of frogs. Plan to come again and walk further up and downstream but will come with better camera. Thanks again.
#2645- I set out this morning with the express purpose of achieving another three of the souvenirs of August. This was my second. Arrived at GZ, a spot where we had stopped once before to set off for another cache. Had a good look around. It is sad to see that there is so much rubbish in and around the area- perhaps a spot that a local cacher may think of in the future for a CITO. With answers figured and photos taken, it was off to my third aim of today- a letterbox.
Will email the answers and upload the photos soon. Thanks

I attempted this earthcache for the Seven Souvenirs.
My day was mostly spent up at Wentworth Falls on the Charles Darwin and Natures pass tracks. After leading a group pf nine walkers I had to search for the closest caches that qualify for this month's goal. This one was roughly in the direction that I travel home. Certainly a different theme to the other Earth caches that I have found to date.
Thanks for the cache.

After finding ‘Burns T-way’ and having a short break at home for lunch, I set out again with Geomum to earn my Nature Lover Souvenir. We accidentally drove right past GZ and had to find somewhere to turn around. After parking on the side of the road, we used the Garmin to help us locate the weir but it didn’t take long. I had previously printed out the information and managed to format it to six pages. Before answering the questions, I had Geomum take my photo with the GPS and then we started browsing the area looking for answers to the questions in addition to reading the cache notes. Neither of us is science-minded so this was an interesting lesson. It looks like the weir is working however I think more pollution control might be necessary. I will email the answers to the CO in due course. TFTEC.

TFTEC.
Come here today as a part of finding different types of caches for the 7 souvenirs of August. I have emailed CO with my answers and attached my photos here. Thanks AussieCacher for the lesson in water pollution control, tftc The phone in my pocket is my GPS unit with the use of C:GEO
After yesterday’s freezing winds, today the weather was much improved and I felt like a walk in the sunshine and fresh air. This earthcache came to mind as, although I don’t fully understand the subject, I have been intending to tackle it for some time.
I really enjoyed my visit to this pleasant reserve and found the facility very interesting. I have emailed my answers to the CO.
Thanks AussieCacher.

having sent my answers to the CO, i truly hope they are fine and permission for logging will not be denied
a weir, yes, whats that and its function? i had no idea until today when i came up from the nearby powertrail to ahve a look - it had been a treat, as no rushing loud cars where to here, lots of waterbrids on both sides of the weir to be seen and yes, it had been a tranquil atmosphere
thanks aussicacher, i enjoyed it!

Mrs Fuschia Briefs and I headed over here today to do this one. Lovely day, with no-one around. It's a shame about the litter around here. Did a little CITO while there. I've sent my answers to CO, hopefully I'm not too far off the mark! Thanks AussieCacher!

Found today on a road trip to Wiseman's Ferry. We checked out the power trail on the Windsor Road and will think about that next time. This EC was a priority! Thanks for all the info - very informative. Thanks again - had a great time today!
As I used to create wetlands for pollution control this was a fairly simple cache, even though I would describe it more as a flow control rather then a pollution control. tftec.
Today is a beautiful day.
We visit this great earthcache.
Thanks for showing this educational EC and best regards from Germany

We stopped by to grab this EC while getting the out of ordinary caches around, thanks for a very interesting place, nice to see the filtration at work. Thanks
found this one with Team Senz what a nice place certainly keeps the water free of rubbish TFTEC
Thanks for the education of different types of weir's and the rolls they play on the environment.
Arrived at GZ took the mandatory pic and had a bit of a wander down stream, and it was fairly clean but upstream was very dirty with lots of litter and debrie, looks like the pollution trap is functioning fine.
Thanks again AC for the earthcache
Cheers.

Really enjoyed learning about weirs and inspecting the surroundings here. As we emerged from the bush upstream, a passing muggle helpfully told us that there were only a few red bellies around. Yikes!! Have posted our responses and photos. Wonder what that little concrete structure is? We spotted two of them. TFTC, AussieCacher. Cheers.... Gaztek

I am glad I left this cache on my last trip here because I needed to log an earth cache today being that today is international earth cache day.
After attending the event hosted by Web Guy we made our way over here to log this one.
It appears some others had the same idea.
I will forward email as soon as I am near a computer.
Thanks for bringing us here.

After getting the kids set up with a DVD, I raced around to pickup a few newish caches and this EarthCache. Went and checked questions with what I saw, took the picture and then emailed my answers to AC. Hope I get an A+. Always nice doing an AussieCacher cache, TFTC.
