Cache 2675 on 29/7/17
Headed out with DarksideDan for a few caches in Yass on a frosty Saturday morning. 6 hours later we had gorgeous warm weather, 40 caches under our belts and a fabulous lunch at the cafe in town. A great morning out getting some numbers with lots of laughs and a few interesting bird sightings on the way. Unless otherwise stated, caches found quickly and in good order.
Great views from around GZ, including of a kite that DSD managed to photograph hovering not far from where we were. The cache is a mess though - thoroughly sodden and the log book unwriteable. Still, a fav point for bring us to this place.
Thanks Bowmanizer for the cache!

Can you say road trip. Today I headed out with AG27 to go on a caching road trip to Yass. Together we collected 40 caches. I took some excellent photos and had a stunning lunch. Thanks heaps for the cache.
On the way to 8000 finds... only about 300 to go!
I went on a recreational caving weekend in Wee Jasper with my bushwalking club this weekend. Only I didn't arrive at the campground untill 11 at night! A very cold weekend, survived mainly by my nice and warm -12 degree sleeping bag, and spending most of the time underground. We didn't exit the last cave exploration until 2pm Sunday, so after we showered and packed up camp I didn't get around go caching until 3pm!
But there have been quite a few new caches published around Yass since I was there last, and a couple of older ones that I DNFed previously, I had a lot to look for before it got too dark and the rain started to fall down.
In the end I managed to find 25 today and reach a total of 7707 finds.
Thanks for all the caches!

This cache appears to be in need of owner attention.
- It no longer meets the Groundspeak Guidelines for cache placement as glass containers are not permitted. A plastic cache container would make a suitable replacement.
- log is soaked and mouldy and really does need some TLC.

*Our last day in Yass, in the good company of Suscoe, we concentrated on finding caches within a 5 km radius of the town. That still set us quite a high target for the day. Just as the rain started, we signed our final log - 44/44 smiley tokens!!*
We enjoyed the spectacular views while we had our lunch break.
Thanks Bowmanizer for placing this cache.

Suscoe and Phetlern were out and about for our last day of caching in the Yass area.
The day started cool and a little cloudy, but it was fine until the last cache was found and then a thunder storm rolled across from the western hills. Great timing we reckoned.
A really pleasant day of town and nearby caching with a good mixture of hides and fun on the way around the roads.
Thanks to Bowmanizer for this hide and this pretty location.
The log book is mouldy and needs replacing.

What a great area and a cache that brought us down the hill showing a great area in a few very scenic directions not seen from the top. Unfortunately the cache was found wet and moldy. Log is soaked and pen was almost ripping paper to write. Many of the items inside are mold and rusty as well. Plus side, this is a fabulous location with great views without a hard walk needed. Thanks for the cache Bownanizer.
Quick find. Great views!! Soggy log and mouldy inside. Just able to sign without the tearing the paper. You wouldn't know there is a great view here without the caches here and this one in particular you could easily miss the view from this side. But this cache brings you down to have a look, so you don't miss out. Tftc and bringing us here Bowmanizer!!!
Headed to Yass with DK and CKK for an afternoon of caching
CKK had found before so didn't venture with us. Found cache easily but it had water in it and the log is loudly. Should probably be replaced.
Gorgeous views. Thanks for bringing us here.

Nice walk down!!! found cache, needs some drying out as it has sweated in cache holder, then walk up!!! TFTC
Tftc,
Stayed in the area overnight and did a few caches before leaving. We couldn't do to many, so made our selection based on favorites. Disapointed with one, but enjoyed all the others.
Parked at the end and walked in a strait line. Should have looked around a it. Found the track about 8M from GZ. Spent 1/2 hour getting grass seads out of my socks.
Need to come back and do some more.
Visited trackables.

Well I thought would have at least got morning tea here....... but no, we didn't see the road walked through all the long grass, then fell across the road, then realised we need to go further n the grass and blackberries, soon located, the log is wet signedbest I could. Thanks Bowmanizer, grear views.
an easy find despite long grass and blackberries on a glorious sunny day .Thanks for leading me to one of Yass' scenic gems.

Quite a breezy spring day. Not unpleasant, but it blew my hat off occasionally. Today I returned to Yass for unfinished business. I am always surprised by the interesting places Yass has to offer. I found some very cool spots today: Hatton's corner was certainly a highlight with sone monumental geology to see there. Yass's railway history was also a focus today.
What an amazing place. The rock formations here are staggerring. I found the cache easy enough & wandered down to the water to grab a closer look. Not sure I felt the urge to disrobe enter the water, but I can understand why others might.

As lots of people have stated both the difficulty and terrain are slightly too high but at least that means you get a sigh of relief when its much easier than you thought!
This was an excellent location and cache. The cache was in a perfect hiding spot which seemed to fit perfectly and never get muggled, and the location was pretty awesome!
I will give this a favourite point! The climb back up to the car is the only thing which could bump up the terrain haha!

Left our Yass accommodation and before breakfast on a great sunny morning decided to complete all of the caches "in town" with higher D/T ratings. Incredible views - we love rivers that have been forced to create gorges somewhere in their course that would not normally be expected - creates a real surprise.

#3983 - 17:15; I needed to pick up an item from the little bakery near Collector, so organized with MrDamage to do a caching run through the area to the north of the ACT to collect a few recently published caches and visit some new areas as well. We were now well under way having visited Collector, Gunning and Dalton and we were now past half way on the caches in and around Yass on the 'still to do' list. Another where I parked in a familiar area before heading off along the track for a find which I had imagined would have been more difficult that it turned out to be. Seems I was paying attention to the GPSr and didn't head straight for the river bank. TFTC Bowmanizer
Found 5:12 pm with LuckyL10n. We were out on a caching run with LuckyL10n on a mission to do 50ish caches. This one was on the to do list. Stopped the geomobile nearby and off we went to GZ but I first grabbed a nearby cache before joining the geobuddy in the hunt for this one. Although he was the first to spot it. We signed the log and returned cache back to its hide. I must admit as we were approaching this cache I did think about how steep the terrain was getting but then there did seem to be a likely spot.
Thanks for the cache.
Thanks for the cache.
Found with TikvaNZ on a hot sunny day. This was the last of the trip for me. We went too far down the hill and had to back track. I assumed that the cache would be right on the river, but I was wrong. TikvaNZ guided us to GZ where I made the find after a quick search. Some amazing rocks nearby. Earth cache material! I enjoyed the views on the way down to GZ and from GZ itself.
The log was a tiny bit damp but I was able to sign the log without any trouble.
Thx Bowmanizer for bringing us to this great location.

ZQX and I had 3 possible plans up our sleeves for this mornings caching. I arrived at ZQX's place at 6am prepared for all possibilities. He proposed a 4th option involving nearly 7 hours driving and over 600km. A long distance FTF mission. Much to his delight I accepted the challenge, even though I hadn't solved the puzzle. Three and a quarter hours later the cache was in hand and much to ZQX's relief the log was blank. We found another nearby (field) puzzle before heading back to Canberra stopping for a few high D/T caches in Yass on the way back, including this one. It was hot work getting back up to the car. Well over 30 degrees. I delivered ZQX home about 1430. TFTC.

What an awesome spot! Pictures didn't really do it justice. Definitely didn't realise there was a proper wide 'path' to walk along to the cache and I instead followed smaller paths there, constantly on the lookout for snakes. Worked it out on the way back though, which helped with the nerves. Tftc!
Continuing on our hunt for more caches Joelisa and I travelled into Yass to try to clean up that town for the rest of the day. Joelisa recognised this place and we realised there was a cache that wasn't appearing on his map as he had already found it. I got my map up and sure enough there it was. Fantastic view!! TFTC
Drove up early from Canberra and spent 8 hours around Yass seeking out caches. A great day found 44 caches, 2 trackables, $2.00 and a mobile phone. Walked around and into some magnificent historic buildings, visited some nice parts of the Yass River that I never new existed and had some great views. This was a favorite view. TFTC.
Favourite. A trip to Yass not knowing some new Geos would be published meaning there was a bonanza of finds to be had. This was a quick find in obvious spot. Great location. Very scenic and worth the walk. Tftc
What an amazing view, got here as the sun was setting. And boy was it good timing. I believe its not butter, i believe its margarine with a stupid name. Got sum great pics. Thanks heaps
A short trip from our current location brought us to this cache. Such a lovely view- well worth the slight exertion needed on the return to the vehicle. Left TB Horse Riding in Wales, took purple ring.
[:(!] Thanks for an awesome effort.

A nice spot, and a pretty funky old tree at gz. Thanks for luring us here, Bowmaniser
This ended up being our 6000th find!!!
We hadn't planned on reaching a milestone this weekend but with the amount of caches we were finding we soon realised we were going to hit #6000. A quick bit of research was then done and this cache looked a likely candidate. We were also looking for a nice spot to have lunch and it turned out we chose wisely. What a beautiful spot! We found the cache, admired the views, and then walked down to the river where we sat and enjoyed our picnic lunch in a nice sheltered sun spot on the water's edge. Not another soul in sight and only the sound of running water and birds; such serenity! We may, or may not have had 40 winks after lunch! But it's been a long time since we've both felt so relaxed in such a peaceful environment. Thanks Bowmanizer for taking us to such a wonderful spot! TFTC

Found with justjessie on our day trip. Lost our pen somewhere. Have taken photo for proof if required.
Up early after an overnight stay in Yass in the back of my car. Slept surprisingly well! Soon in caching mode to clean up Yass. Was fairly successfull and only a few DNF/ not there. Love all the new caches around, thanks for placing them. Called it enough when the rain started to set in again towards lunch.

Took my middle daughter, Chocolistick03 (GC name created after we returned), out caching today. We hit Gunning and Yass (and in between). Great views from here and some interesting rock formations near by. A quick find, thanks Bowmanizer
Today we explored Yass and surrounds using geocaching as a guide.
Thanks for placing and maintaining this cache for our enjoyment.

Woke up in Jugiong to blue skies, a light breeze, and another lovely day. BettyBoo3747 and I completed the Endangered Species Trail yesterday, and decided to have a look around Yass today.
A nice view down to the river from the car park, and we wondered how far down we would have to walk for a 3.5 terrain cache.
It turned out not far at all - enough to get some more good views though.
We didn't suspect this river had such gorges from seeing it further up stream.
Thanks, Robmc.

# 7031. Robmc and I are staying at Jugiong and this is our second full day to go caching. We again awoke to a beautiful morning so a visit to Yass was the order of the day.
What a place to visit. Down the hill on the rocky path we went, surrounded by tall grasses. Not a good time for a hayfever sufferer like Rob. Fantastic views as we went down and more great views from GZ. Obviously the water can rage down here at times from all the trees piled up at various points. Loved the gorge - interesting geology around here. Favourite point for this one. Left a golfball that I had picked up earlier today and said I had left a pathtag but I discovered it in my pocket later on.
Thanks Bowmanizer

Some great views around here, who would have thought the river had such a deep gorge so close to town..
This cache was in a lovely location. When I found it the lid had popped off and ants were inside. I emptied the cache and got rid of all the ants (I hope). There was a yet unlogged TB inside and I took that because it had become sticky and may have attracted the ants. TFTC

What a stunning location! This is a real highlight of my trip to Yass. In the morning light with frost everywhere it's like walking through a painting. Glad I wore my gloves though, very cold! Took the geocoin. TFTC!

This one should have been one of the highlights of the day, it was certainly in the most scenic of spots we visited in Yass. But the rain decided to start pelting down as we walked down to this one, and it was freezing.
I got soaked legs & feet, and my hood kept blowing off in the wind, so my hair got wet as well. I just trudged after bikerbuddy & let him navigate to the cache.
Once at GZ, with the cache in hand, I perked up and enjoyed the views down below (& am giving this cache a favourite for those views), but it was just too cold to linger. A warm (& dry!) car was calling us back up the hill.
Thanks

My youngest son recently went on his first Duke's expedition to Mount Solitary, and we bought him a good rain jacket. I bought myself one at the same time. I was wearing it as we walked down to look for this cache. What had been light drizzle all morning began to develop into a heavier rain and the wind picked up as we became more exposed on the hill. As we got closer it became apparent where to look for the cache and it was an instant find, thankfully. We signed the log in the lee of he tree.
Toriaz had commented earlier in the morning that the green fields and the constant drizzle reminded her of Ireland, a country I have never visited. Now, as we looked into the ravine at the water churning below us, I could easily imagine a scene from Wordsworth, and his sense of awe at the resounding cataract.
Thanks for taking us there.

# 983 Back in town again, but this time, we finished to late to catch the last flight home. So what to do tonight?
Cache of course, but which ones? You have so many to choose from. So I decided to pick off some more D/T combo's. Forgot to pack my kayak or the Cache Ranger, so that ruled out a few, but then I found a few in Yass and a few mor on the road there. I think I drove past more caches today than are within 200km of home.
Was going to go and get something to eat but then realised that I was at the turn off to this cache, so I decided to grab it first. It was just light enough to make out the river and the rock formation on the other side. I also spotted the the likely cache location.

The weekend has arrived So a day of perfect weather meant Rapidlywild and I were off to gallivant around Yass, Gundaroo, Gunning and surrounds on another geomission- choc full of fun and frivolity! [:O)]
Next stop for us on our lovely drive around the countryside cleaning up caches was this one. Once we arrived at the parking area at GZ we were a bit concerned to encounter a muggle sitting in his ute. But once we worked out GZ would be well away and out out of view, off we went to start the search. As we were strolling down to GZ, we admired the stunning views of the rock layers and countryside. And at GZ we were greeted with the beautiful outlook of the river flowing over the rocks below-fantastic! Cache easily found, signed and replaced before we headed back to the Wildmobile for more
Thanks for the hide and the fantastic views Bowmanizer-fave from me as well!
Next stop for us on our lovely drive around the countryside cleaning up caches was this one. Once we arrived at the parking area at GZ we were a bit concerned to encounter a muggle sitting in his ute. Well, the original discussion was to do a pushbike ride and collect some caches I hadn't done however neither myself or specimenX felt like going for a ride so changes were made to the curriculum and we decided to do some country driving instead.
We made our way through some unfound ones in Murrumbateman, Yass, headed north from Yass, then East towards Jerrawa then further East towards Gunning then South towards Gundaroo and then home.
It was a great day, that as usual, turned into stupid o'clock in the morning before ending a 12.5 mission driving the country roads. Had a couple scares with some animals, got pulled over by the police in Gunning for an RBT and we made a heap of memorable finds. A great day all round.
On to the cache:
Continuing on in Yass, we made the drive over to this one. on arrival, we noticed a ute with a young guy and his partner (we are presuming) enjoying the nice location. We realised we were not going to be in view of said muggles so we went off for the stroll.
The views here were just spectacular, enjoyed every minute of it. Cache was found easily, but we had a hard time focusing on the cache because of the views. Logging duties completed and we wandered back up to the geomobile.
Thanks for the find Bowmanizer

A great day out with SecretSquirrel-BJC and Mr Roo. A stack of caches around Yass, excellent weather, some top hides, and really good company made the day most memorable. Thanks to all for the caches and the interesting places to visit.
Well worth the walk. Thank goodness for geogrand kid as we left the pen in the car. TFTC
# 6871 Found on a perfect Spring day for another drive around Yass.
No muggles around here today and a great stretch of the legs.
Excellent views and I was tempted to wander around, but resisted.
Another safe hide and a quick find. TN LN SL.
Thanks for the cache Bowmanizer,
Roostaman.

We had a nice stroll down to the gorge. Checked out he creek and rock formation. TFTC
2336. Found with Stev87. If we wanted this one we had to get out in the wind and rain. So off we trot. We arrived at GZ and made a quick find and admired the views for what they were on such a crappy day. I tipping it is real pretty here on a nice day. TFTC.
Out for the day collecting Yass caches. It was a great view from the gz and very relaxing to hear the river bubbling by.

Thank you for bringing us to this interesting geological feature. A favourite from me. I dropped off the TB 'Pace Counter Bug'. TFTC.
We managed to drive to this one as the gate was opened. Thanks for bringing us here, although the view was hampered somewhat by the fog.
We spent the night in Yass on our slow journey southward so that we could pick up these local caches before leaving.
There were fantastic views of exposed rock formations and a different view of the river from gz as we signed the log after quickly locating the cache. This is why we still enjoy geocaching so much after 10 years, it brings you to places like this that we wouldn't have found
Took nothing but left a favourite point.
