Today's goal is a ride at Buller on the new bike. Always time to stop for a quick find on the way though. I don't think the gnomes were here 30 years ago.
While spending a few days around Mansfield I enjoyed an afternoon slowly making my way up to Mt Buller and caching along the way. A nice little detour on the drive up and an interesting sight that people seem to have continued adding to. Thanks for the cache gmj3191.
A good place to stop to let the brakes have a rest. Tftc to highlight the cute tree
Day two of the trigs/trads/whatever trip from the Blue Mountains to Lorne and return. Tftc
After skiing down Standard and other slopes for the long weekend, it was time to go home. But I decided to find a quick geocache before we got home.T4TH gmj3191
Quick and easy find as we admired the gnome tree. I grew up stopping here when I was younger. It was great seeing my girls now enjoying that experience.
While out for the day and just done a walk along the river we checked this one out because of so many favourites. Nice easy find once all the tourists left. Thanks for the Cache loved it. It gets a fav from me.
Sir_spectre and I had hoped to join in the fun of the Mega in Canberra but unfortunately life got in the way so we planned a trip for a few weeks later. We might have missed all the great events and catching up with geocaching friends from far and wide but at least we got to find lots of great caches still.Any cache that needed some love got it, if possible. Thanks
This is a new vic LGA for me. Just grabbing a few finds. On route the the nearby webcam. Nice location for a cache. fav point.Found with Mogni. Myself and mogni are headed off to canberra on the " I missed the Capital GeoBash Mega " holiday, since last minute family problems came in to play and we had to adjust our plans by a few weeks. On the way over we targeted multi's, wherigo's and puzzles to make sure we had 25 in each or at least close to that total ( or more ) as possible, getting as many new New South Wales LGA's as possible, the 17th most favourite point NSW cache and every cache size in New South Wales. In the ACT it was getting 2 of the 5 oldest letterboxes, oldest wherigo in Australia, 2nd oldest earthcache ( with a side trip to get the oldest earthcache of course ), and ACT oldest cache too. I also hosted a CITO and planned on getting every different cache type i could and eevry different cache size as well. I also needed 9 more virtuals this trip to get my virtual count over 100. Finally canberra was far enough away from from house to complete the well aged well travelled cacher 0 to 1000 kms with a cache every 10 km's ( i only need 7 more caches to complete )Leaving the ACT it was going via Victoria to get there last active web cam cache and slowly getting a total of 20 finds in each LGA i passed through if i had enough time plus also hosting a CITO in Victoria as well. A busy 11 days. Trust me by the end of the holiday you would have thought the 6 meter ladder weighed more than 13 kg's to amount of times it was used or carried up hills or over creeks. If your cache was found with a broken container/lid it was replaced or if the log was full it was replaced or a extra log if the container was big enough ( except for nano's, do your own maintenance on nano's.
I wasn't exactly sure what I was looking for until I saw it. Wow! What a cool location. I especially loved the sign warning of the gnomes being just ahead. Wow! Dropping a favorite point. Thank you for the smiley and the fun!The day:Today I continued my month long journey from the U.S. along the east coast of Australia!! I was leaving Melbourne for my first solo day after spending 2 days with my muggle friend and her husband. I tried to get a bright and early start, but the traffic was a mess. I eventually made my way to each of the caches on my list which is always a bonus! Many thanks to all the geocachers who placed and continue to maintain their geocaches for folks like me to find. I know it's not always easy, but know that I appreciate you.
Visited it during 28-days geotrip to Australia, N.Caledonia, Vanuatu, Fiji, Am.Samoa, Fr.Polynesia with Marci, Ch. Sometimes we logged as "MT" or "Jonea" or "MTCh". Thanks for showing nice caches and places. MT-Jonea from Brno city in Czechia EU. Ll. Imposible open so we photo it.
Today is our drive up to Mt Buller to collect a few high altitude caches as well as the webcam. We had fantastic weather - in fact it was short sleeves even though it was about 13c. We also found caches along the way. Later in the day we took a drive out to Tolmie and discovered a very interesting community. Thanks to all the COs.What a hide out for the gnomes and very worthy of a FP.
Out and about today from Mansfield to Mt Buller and then out to Tolmie. We were expecting it to be much colder up in Mt Buller, but with no wind it was quite pleasant. Arrived at GZ and in short time, found cache and signed logs. Thank you to the CO for placing them out there. TFTCWhat a great cache setup - giving a FP for that reason. Well done!
Enjoying a few days away with my mum. This is the first time I've headed up to Mt Buller. What a great little stop. Each time we looked, we found something different. We even spotted a couple more gnomes further up the mountain. Cache found, log signed and returned as found.A fav from me.
We are on the way to Canberra for the MEGA Easter 2024 via Victoria. We stop for sightseeing and caches. We passed this cache on the way up to Mount Buller. It's a gorgeous spot to stop.We found this cache and signed the log.Tftc gmj3191
One day out with TBU1BIKESU on Mount Buller to get more smilies. Tftc gmj3191A fav point from me
The Adelaide Leap Day Mega and Canberra Geobash gave us a great excuse for a road trip. This trip has shown us so many new and interesting places as weve chased LGAs, oldies, challenges, interesting D/T combinations, rarer cache types and favourites.Meeting up with friends old and new along the way, we sometimes cached together and sometimes alone but always had a great time. Today we took a day trip from Wangaratta to Mount Buller, stopping at anything that caught our eye along the way. These turned out to be all wonderful caches. Thanks to the CO for placing and maintaining this cache and adding to our enjoyment.
We have traveled with 36 likeminded geocachers to Australia and New Zealand resulting in lots of opportunities for sightseeing and geocaching. The logbooks were mostly signed under the teamname "Team DownUnder24" and answers were sent to owners for the group, as appropriate. This has been a great trip with a multifold of new impressions and experiences.During our stay in Melbourne we had also the opportunity to visit some caches. This cache was found on a detour to one of the seldom webcamcaches in Australia and so also among our finds today. Thanks for leading us here and showing and thanks for the cache.
Found this cache on a 24-day trip to Australia and New Zealand with a night of stopover in Qatar. In Qatar we have an evening and almost a full day of geocaching before we take the long flight to Downunder. In Australia we will visit the citys of Sydney, Melbourne, Aidelaide and Cairns. Our stays in New Zealand will be in Aukland, Rotorua, Wellington, Blenheim, Christchurch, Dunedin and Queenstown. For me the focus will be on old caches, placed in 2000 and obviously on the remaining webcams in Australia and New Zealand. We are a group of 38 Geocachers from Germany, Denmark and Luxembourg. At geocaches that we visit as a group, we sign the logbooks with our team-name "Team DownUnder24" to safe the owners a lot of space in the logbooks.Today we took a rental car and drove to Mt. Buller. We were Lenny love, CacheTaucher, keeiner and me. A quick find here.Merci frs Dosal sogt da GoanToni Thanks to Rhinogeo for hiding and maintaining this geocache.
After a while, it was finally time to visit some caches in distant countries again. This time the destination should be australia and new zealand What an amazing continent. Met some nice people there, saw a lot of interesting spots and also found some geocaches, of course. Thanks to the owner for laying and maintaining the cache and many greetings from Bergkamen, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. Quick easy find on our way home from Mt Buller for Oscar's 100km hut2hut trail run Tftc
Unable to stop on our journey up the mountain Because of rain and visibility we made a point to stop for this cache as we left the mountain.
In the pouring rain we saw this tree on the way up. Now on our way home the sun is shining and its time to stop and check out this cutie. Ode to the mountain pygmy possum, love it. I can see kids really enjoying this one! The tree has grown, and so has the gnome population since this cache was published. It may be a little hard to get in the door now Thanks gmj3191
When I saw this cache on the map on the way up to Mt Buller I knew we would have to stop for gnome5580 since after all this cache is pretty much made for her lol definitely worth the stop and a FP although unfortunately the cache itself was completely soaked and dirty inside so we dried it out and put everything into a fresh zip lock to hopefully help keep it dry for the next finders! TFTC!!
I love it I found my tree!! Best cache area ever!!Main log was very soggy. I've taken it out and cleaned the inside. Also placed everything into another zip lock bag. I hope it keeps everything dry.TFTF
How did I miss that on the way up?! Cool spot for a quick find in the dark. TNLN-TFTC!

CaptainVimes and I are on a driving holiday from Melbourne to Canberra this week. We spotted this on the way up and had to stop on our way back down. Thanks for the fun gmj3191
Gnomes on the Discworld are six inches tall, resembling humans in general body shape, and usually live alone. A gnome has more physical strength than his size would suggest, and sometimes give painful, bone-cracking hits to people who have underestimated them. Gnomes have come to the city of Ankh-Morpork and obtained jobs as tradesmen (Wee Mad Arthur, pest terminator) and even Watchmen (Buggy Swires).
Found it! Although the Navi wanted to take us right metres up the bank! Oh well
Great find. Easy to locate. Make sure to look everywhere and not just at the tree
Decided to visit the cache whilst on the annual Easter trip with family friends! Found it after carefully reading the hint…was a bit misguided in where we were searching until we reread the hint. TFTC!!
On a trip from WA with Burns345, we made a plan to cache from Rutherglen to Mt Buller, this was a must do cache on the list.
Cache found and logged as WA B345 M28 with a FP added. Thank you to all the COs for placing these for our enjoyment.

TFTC and what a fun place to stop. You can see 2 TBs in the photo. Both the TBs and I come from the Hunter Valley. I’m mad, geocaching in the rain and sightseeing as well. Back to our van to spend the afternoon doing whatever in this weather.
A hard cache to open and close. Could do with a clean out by the CO, to make this easier. Wonderful tree house. Really enjoyed the stop here. TFTC gmj3191.
Great walk with the in-laws define the case at the gnome tree thank you for the placement off to Mount Buller
Log is wet within the bag I have added a dry repair replacement log in a new dry bag with satchel
This really is a most impressive place to stop.

Found on the way up to Buller, ready to head to Craig's Hut. Little did we know that Corn Hill road was closed which meant that we had to drive back down and take the turn off to Mt Stirling.
Cache was found and gnomes admired .
Thank you gmj3191 for this and all your other caches on this mountain.

Thanks gmj3191 for another brilliant spot! The Gnomrs have been busy with their letter writing. The whole family was waiting for us to collect this one. Signed and replaced with a spare bag and water absorber- log is soaked.
Loved this spot for years!
Thanks!

We were camping nearby and looking for caches when this one came up in the search, and what a cool spot! TFTC!
This is find #1000 for us, after first starting geocaching in 2012! While we have had a find every year, the last couple of years have been most of our finds.
We picked up during COVID, which had us focusing on our local area and solving puzzles! Over the 10 years we have had finds in the USA, Fiji, Italy and Switzerland along with our home country of Australia. Thanks to everyone for the great hides and looking forward to the next 1000!

Todays planned day trip for Craig's Hut to make our #2000th find was finally here! Super early start this morning lead to an awesome day exploring both Mt Buller and Mt Stirling some tracks certainly tested the old rig out, but we made it home in once piece. Today brought back lots of fond memories of visiting this area with my granddad many years ago.
Kids loved this one, very cool!

I have been Geocaching for the last year as part of team Dromaniax. We have enjoyed the Geocaching caching around a lot of Victoria in that time. From our first trip up to the Murray River, the next trip to Lake Eildon and the area around Buxton, an epic trip to the Little Desert to attack the This is SA series, then a great trip with our father to the High Country in Victoria, a trip to the Mornington Peninsula and a trip to the Albury-Hume Reservoir area.
I finally decided to set up my own account and am claiming all the caches I have found as part of Dromaniax.
Thank you for this Traditional cache gmj3191

Heading toward Mount Buller, with an optimistic hope for a rain free day. How could you drive past this quaint little group, even if you were not caching. We soon had the cache in hand and our name in the log.
Thanks to gmj3191 for adding this quirky cache to the gameboard.

Finally stopped to get this one. Great little spot. Thanks for placing the geocache
TFTC good hiding spot everything insides a bit wet but the notebook was doing ok!
Quick find on our way down from the webcam cache at mt Buller. Very cute little tree and great meaning behind it too. TFTC.
After a few camping trips with his muggle brother Mr Dromaniax suggested that they have another camp trip and invite their muggle father along for the ride. After leaving Ballarat around 10.30, we headed towards Smoko Campground in the High Country.
After arriving after dark at the campground and setting up the tent and cooking dinner in the rain, we were up early and headed into Bright for breakfast. After breakfast, we headed off towards the goal of the day, the Webcam cache at the top of Mt Buller.
Having had our photo taken, albeit a very misty photo at the top, we were heading back down the mountain, and it made sense for us to get all the corners covered.
The drive up had been an exercise in concentration with poor visibility. This improved on the way back down, and we broke up the drive nicely by caching.
They say there is no place like Gnome, and this is a fun stop on Mt Buller Road.
A quick find was made of a cache in great condition.
Thank you for this cache gmj3191.

Checking out Mt Buller in the autumn while on a weekend away in Merrijig with friends. Nice easy one. Thank you
Great stash! Could access the hint (no reception) but thanks to geomums handy eye we found it. TFTC !!
With the Targa car rally in full swing the Gnome family were tucked up inside behind the yellow safety tape (they must have been caus we didn't see them and no-one answered the door!) Took the opportunity to locate this cache, and waved them goodbye. TFTC
Such a cute spot to stop.
Cache in good condition
Left a few swaps.

This was the seventeenth find of 35 finds for the day. After finding “Mount Buller Totem Pole”, Mizmaz and I continued our trip back down the mountain and this was the second location we spotted on the way up that we wanted to visit. This is such a cute little spot, with a serious message about conservation. Thankfully there was a safe place to pull over and although we thought the cache was somewhat closer, it required a much larger search radius. It is starting to become a habit of ours where the cache seems to lay in between our phones/GPSr indication of GZ. SL. TFTC.

Found on Day 2 of the Wangaratta Event Trip!
Leaving Mt Buller (where I ticked off my first webcam), picked up a couple of bonus smileys as we headed back towards the Wangaratta Mega and more on a personal challenge of “maximum types in one day”. Actually stopped to take a photo of the cute little gnome house and realised how close GZ was for this quick find at the same time.
