Today was such a beautiful day that I couldn't resist heading out to do some geocaching. This was my first stop of the day and it took me way longer than it should have to find. and once I did, it was a little embarrassing since it was quite obvious! Thanks for find #6471TNLN
TFTC found with Algae on a freezing windy day. Grass is very long… we were thinking about snakes..
Over obligatory coffee, Tiz13 and Kashbound made plans to go searching in Maffra on the first day of daylight savings.
Love the story behind this geocache and how a little girls life was valued.
TFTC Jimmymaff - for placing and maintaining your caches and taking me to spots where I can escape from it all and just enjoy the gorgeous scenery.

Spent a pleasant morning walking through the nearby reserve marveling the magnificent trees. Had a chat to a local who recalled his parents driving him along this reclaimed Rd back in the day - he pointed out the bridge remains near the river. Walked along the Rd from the reserve to this cache passing the grave site. At GZ things got serious when I had to put the gardening gloves on. Cache located at signed.
Suscoe decided to head out to the Maffra area today.
Another delightful late Autumn day with some sunshine, but a cool breeze to keep us company.
What beautiful countryside and we enjoyed our travels.
Thanks to Jimmymaff for this piece of history.

Headed back home today after camping at Valencia Creek, this was decided to be the cache for the day. Sad story to read up on the tree, but an interesting place historically for sure. Thanks for the cache and the little adventure.

An interesting piece of local history I didn’t know about- that’s what I love about geocaching. Nice easy find.
This is our 2nd attempt at this one. We noted that many others had found it after our DNF. Back in the region for our summer holidays and we decided to give it another go. Whaddaya know. Plain as day. There it was. TFTC Jimmymaff.

Found it! Grass is getting quite high so it was a lil tricky to get to but got there in the end. Have seen this tree driving past many times and heard the story before but never stopped to actually visit the tree before
Nice little detour from Maffra. It’s definitely there, just try looking at it from a different angle if you don’t find it where you’d expect
We thought this would be a quick drive-by. As we approached GZ, we started our search, then we checked the hint but that didn't help. We prodded and poked and searched high and low. No luck today. Thanks anyway Jimmymaff for the interesting story.

This one had us beat today. There was a lot of traffic and what searching we did we missed it this time.
After having moved on to a new camping spot this morning, we headed out to do a caching tour of the Maffra and Stratford district with ilook4geo. It was overcast and cooler but no rain happened till late afternoon and then it was very light.
We found a variety of caches and some took longer than others to pinpoint. This one was a successful find which needed quite a lot of scratching around before we noticed it. Log was signed, all was replaced as it had been found.
Thank you to Jimmymaff for this cache placement.

Out on a caching hunt with goingplaces2 while staying nearby. Found an assortment of caches and added both names to each log that was located. It was a good day with more smileys added to the tally. Found a well hidden cache here. TFTC.
TFTC. Signed and returned.
A nice quick find.
Thanks for bringing us here to read the sad story of that little girl.

Had to make a quick dash over to Maffra today, and decided to take the long way home, past this cache. What a really interesting location, and very sad story. Hubby remarked about how good it is that the story and location was even remembered, and passed down. These are the things we shouldn’t forget, and we are giving you a fav point because this is what caching, to us anyway, is all about. It’s not about the numbers. Bring us to a special place with a story to tell any day! SL TFTC Jimmymaff
Taking a side trip on route to Sale with gwd.aussie to pick up this cache as it fills a hole in my hidden date calendar. I have been to this cache with a geo-friend when I was a muggle finally returning today to claim the find.
Thanks Jimmymaff
Thanks Jimmymaff
What a sad story, that poor family. A beautiful pair of trees on a pretty road I've not been down yet and a nice plaque to explain their significance. A few peeps in and around and a little sticking my hand in unseen places before I spotted the little cache. TFTC Jimmymaff.
Simpler than we were making it out to be! A nice first find fo this fine Easter morning TFTF!
Filling a spot on my calendar today and had some lucky time arounfs client appointments. the story behind this one captured my interest so came out for a look. Sad story but amazing piece of history. Took a bit of a hunt but ended up committing a bit more and got it! TFTC
We were told about this child and how they discovered the burial location. A great story by some dedicated locals, who can keep the history alive.
Thanks for placing the cache here, so others can view this tree.

Lived here abouts most of my life but never noticed this tree before. Thanks for enlightening us with the hard life the pioneets had. Scrappy_1
I finally got my lazy arse back out here to do the last cache I had left this way. An interesting (if sad) piece of history.

Hmm, interesting location for a cache. I had a bit of a dig around the internet (searched for "bark coffin maffra") to find out more information and was able to find references to Bellbird Corner Riverside Reserve which expands upon that unfortunate event. Have a "bo-peep" at: http://www.natureofgippsland.org/bellbird_corner.htm (if you're interested).

With a little help from above this tree will stand up for a lot longer.
If it wasn't for the cache I wouldn't have known about this

On the way home from Ben Kroo Han, and as the rain had abated, thought that we would have a look at this tree, and grab another cache. A nice quick find at this interesting place reflecting the hardships of earlier times. TNLN SL Replaced cache which is in good condition.

Found with GizaGal.
We returned and looked in the right place and all the wrong places. Just as we were about to give up we tried the right place again and there it was.

The sad story of Eliza and the lasting scars that preserve her memory, a touching story.. thanks..!!
Searched with GizaGal.
It was just on dusk .. torches didn't help us.
I suspect we will need full daylight to find this one.

Heaps of traffic. Had a few cars slow down to have a look at us inspecting a tree very intently. Thanks Silkyie
Such a sad story for one so young to be drowned
Very over grown
Thanks for the cache Jimmymaff

Long grass hot day! The grass near the hollows of the tree was about 18 inches long and thick. Generally stay right away from long grass on hot spring days. When it's been cut, I'm there.
Found it in seconds with Ornursie79.last time I came a few months ago I did not find it but the seasons were different which helped the cache hide... TFTC. Off for anotger cache now.
