AS Tigersden (Cach owner) remarked, the GZ has been inaccessible for some time due to road works. That being the Beaufort- Buangor Western Highway dual carriageway road works. The location was off limits to everyone including locals. The eastbound lanes are now reconstructed, and the original highway is now a service lane and is accessible from the eastbound lanes at multiple points. The cairn is still there, and likely so is the cache. If travelling west, head at least two median strip cross overs (Side road accesses.) past the cache location before crossing over/u-turning to give yourself plenty of room to safely get to the GZ. I could give further, more precise details but I only travel past during the night on a long haul newspaper run. (And do most of my caching on those runs. Middle of the night caching is sooo much harder.) Friday morning 27/05/16 will be my next trip that way and I will attempt to stop and see if the cache is still there, and post an update afterwards.
One or more of the following has occurred:
No response from the cache owner.
No cache to find or log to sign.
It has been more than 28 days since the last owner note.
As a result I am archiving this cache to keep from continually showing up in search lists and to prevent it from blocking other cache placements.
If you wish to repair/replace/make available the cache sometime in the near future, just contact a reviewer (by email), and assuming it still meets the current
guidelines, the reviewer will be happy to unarchive it.
Should you replace the cache after 28 days has passed please create a new cache listing so it can be reviewed as a new cache.

This cache should be disabled as due to roadworks the area is completely inaccessible . The area is roped off as well.
The monument used to be on a single lane highway.
Now the highway is being redesigned into a split 2-lane freeway, which means the monument will probably only accessible from the Eastbound part of the freeway.
For now, the monument is on a road section which isn't being driven on, which made it easy to come here and look for the cache in peace.
Cache was a bit wet when we found it. Probably needs a new set of log notes.

A quick find on our Melbourne trip with Bek-theraccoon, Traut+Wombat and Dr Owl. TFTC
Rushed over the mushy ground to get to this one and ended up tripping over a rock in the dark so it was certainly a relief to get the find on route to Melbourne! TFTC
Who knew there were three parallel roads here? Not this navigator! A quick find on our way to Melbourne, TFTC
Found on the way to Melbourne with Bek-theRacoon, Alex-theSquirrel and Traut + Wombat. An interesting retrieval, as it was now pitch black, the road was being redesigned and the monument was apparently nowhere in sight. Some judicious wandering around (with Owl slowly bringing up the rear), then Bek and Traut pounced. Phew! What a long walk!
12/07/2015 11:00 14 of 19. A caching weekend to the "Party With Baz" event in Cathcart with Carl (iamapom). We stoped here in search of my drive-by's and I was a little surprised it wasn't hidden in the obvious structures. Another quick traditional here to add to our numbers. TFTC tigersden TNLN SL
Found it with Landau351 on our short weekend visit to Ballarat and Ararat. We spent most of the weekend very cold and very wet, with numb fingers. Thanks for the cache.
Visiting Ararat for the weekend especially to visit J ward tour tonight
It's possibly the coldest of weekends that we have chosen for this adventure
Always time to gather up some caches

This turned out to be one of our first finds for the day while heading to South Australia. Easily found and a great start to the day with 30+ finds between here and Keith.

Back on the road today after a couple of days camped in the nearby park. "This road can be busy" - Ha ha! - understatement of the year! With all the road works going on around here, it is incredibly busy. Had trouble turning right to get onto the highway and then it was with great care Pa pulled into this parking area so that I could grab the cache and keep my streak going- many thanks Pa, especially as we had only just hit the road. A quick find and did not have to worry about the muggles as they were all too involved in their own business. SL TFTC tigersden
Driven past a million times and never stopped before we started GC'n. First time find for geograndma. Lol! TFTC

Waited for a break in traffic to snaffle this one. Geokid 1 annoyed that i found it after she walked past it. This cache brings back memories of a school project on major mitchell. ( gee! Thats many moons ago. Lol)
On our todays tour we visited this site.
We took the opportunity to search for the cache nearby. We found it and signed the logbook.
Thanks for this nice cache !

Find # 1919 @ 1434 H
Found with Tyred n Cranky.
Taking Tyred n Cranky's Magna for a run today. After grabbing some of the newer caches we missed around Beaufort, on the day of the evening event. We decided to go up the Highway to Ararat.
I have never seen a "Historic Marker" that size before.

Find No. 815. Found at 2.34pm with FUF009
A day touring around the countryside caching - Lexton / Beaufort / Ararat areas. FUF009 came with us.
Reminded us of the monument back home of Major Mitchell. He sure did cover some country.

It is really quite amazing to see the places and distance that our early explorer's travelled to discover our beautiful country for us. SL TFTC
Thanks to all the owners of the geocaches that we found today along the road between Horsham and Beaufort. Greetings from Belgium.
This one had us going for a bit. Didn't help that a bus full of muggles turned up. Eventually my partner found it after they all packed up and took off. TFTC
Muggles, muggles and muggles. A crappy pull-over spot and we had to wait for 2 cars to meet-up and take off, then a mini-bus of 15-20 people pulled up to stretch their legs. We took our time, working through the clues, just as my good lady was giving up I made one last pass and found it. Too close to the highway for my liking, but well grounded.
Found it! 5:55 am while taking a required break near the end of a 500km long haul newspaper run. GPS did NOT like it here! It's over there. Walk over and now it's over there. Walk again and now it's in the middle of the highway! Eventually common sense told me where it should be, and sure enough, there it was. TFTC. SL. Left a new piece of note paper for logs.
Found on a fantastic weekend away with Moneydork (Hero Husband), Locus Cache and Sushilord. It was not a quiet trip but oh so worth it! Lots of caching, lots of laughter and finally some sleep thrown in when we just couldn't carry on!
Thanks for your cache and helping make our weekend so great.
Thanks for your cache and helping make our weekend so great.
After being offered a weekend caching to and from Ballarat with Tounga and Moneydork, how could I refuse[?]
Sushilord joined us too and for 3 days we laughed and cached and laughed and cached until we could cache no more. [|)]
As for the topics of conversation, apparently mirth, maniacal murder and mayhem were the common themes for the weekend along with a few other topics
My total for a great weekend was 1 event attended in Ballarat , 113 cache finds 7 DNFs and a FTF as I wound my way home, alone, in the early morning
Mitch was here and Mitch passed by and Mitch went for a long walk when he did so.
I still stand in awe of how hard it must have been travelling in those days and the vast areas that Mitch traversed.

The GPS was not cooperating on this one this afternoon, so it was a process of elimination. We searched a few places before this one was uncovered. Thanks for the hide tigersden.
Had our breakfast at this pull in not very scenic TFTC though made the stop worthwhile!
Definately stealth required today. Lots of traffic and some roadworks going on down the road. Needed to stretch the legs so wandering around did me good. Easy little find, nice spot to relax and read the board. Been through here a lot but first time to actually stop here. TFTC.
Found yesterday while heading up to Horsham on a work trip. I left the other half of Kalianda09 at home finding some caches so I figured I could grab a couple of quick finds on the way past.
I've been past here a few times now and even stopped here but never though to see if there was a cache here. A quick and easy find for me today with the log signed and I was back on the way. Apparently there was work to be done! Thanks tigersden for hiding the cache.

Found with The 2 Wanderers during a weekend at Raglan with chooknchunk. I couldn't count the number of times I have gone past here to visit family in Ararat and Adelaide. Finally got to find the cache today! It 's a very busy road. Mitch certainly walked a long way. TFTC
Another fast find, pity the weather isn't letting us look at much view. Information about Mitchell very interesting though. Tftc

We do like the caches where you learn something new. DM now knows Mj Mitchell as an explorer, not a cockatoo.
Good last cache to round off a great Oz Mega weekend.

After a great time in Murray Bridge for the Oz Mega, it was time for us to leave and start the road trip home. We randomly chose caches along our route home and this was one of them. The road got busy at times but we generally had a good run so it was great to nab ourselves a few more smilies Thanks for the fun and giving us a reason to stop, revive and survive - Cheers!

Found by Facitman with Rhinogeo on our way to the SA Mega Event at Murray Bridge at 12:00
We love a monument! Rhinogeo has a fantastic multi focussed on them so today we stopped at quite a few caches located near/on monuments. We pulled off the highway and play our own version of frogger before making a quick find at GZ. Rhinogeo had his camera and tripod so we setup for a stylish photo of ourselves with the arrow!
Thanks tigersden

On our way to the OzMega in Murray Bridge picking up a few caches on the way. We thank the many cache owners for putting out and maintaing these caches for our pleasure. There have been challenges as well as simple drive byes to break the journey, there have been a few DNF's also.
Apologies for the generic log but we plan to do quite a few logs in the next few days.
Pea soup fog this morning.

Thanks for the quick grab on the highway. Gave a good spot to stop for a few minutes. Thankfully no one else parked there like the place where I had tried earlier on my trip.
Another stop on the way to Stawell, and we were out of the vehicle ... this evened things out as it was Jinky who spotted it. Three caches, three spotters -- a good day today. TNLN, SL, TFTC!
Beautiful weather, 4WD packed, geodog for company on this caching geocaching trip. Nice quick cache, here I thought we were going for a walk. Thanks
